Quick ferry over to kidston island, hiked around the island around 2km. Hiking trail was way overgrown in certain areas but nice views. Quick dip on the beach at the end.

We did a full moon kayak tour to the lighthouse where we had dinner and music under the moon. We had the whole island to ourselves! Lighthouse was beautiful and fun to photograph. Tour was with north river kayak out of Baddeck

Nice little light house, we didn’t go to the island as we didn’t have enough time to spend at Baddeck. Probably next time. Just before the dusk sunlight shines this lighthouse, best time for a photo opportunity. A good place to see this light house is from the Alexander Graham Bell Museum.

The eye-catching Kidston Island Lighthouse is visible from the Alexander Graham Bell National Historic Site as well as from beautiful Baddeck harbour.

Great place to fight the heat! The supervised swimming section is quite small and limited though with rough sand. It is a sandy entrance into the water though and a gentle descent into deeper water. Rough on the feet after awhile though. Trails are available straight to the lighthouse door and around and through the island. They are marked here and there but are not maintained and be prepared to go off trail into the woods to avoid large fallen trees. The swimming area is great for city folk wanting to see sea creatures! As seen in my pictures attached here in, we found a d held a tiny purple sea star and then came across a dead dark purple jelly fish. Plus there are countless little fish and crayfish swimming and crawling around your feet. All in all, the ferry ride to and fro is free and it's a great place to spend a hot humid day!!

Great little beach on a sunny day with a free (donation accepted) little boat shuttling back and forth from the one of the Baddeck jetties. Some little covered picnic tables and a little area to swim.

Eric Dirks

Trails on the island are a bit overgrown but still a fun hike around the island for an hour or so.
