Here you will be able to see all the information of real people who consumed the products and services of Peter Lougheed Provincial Park (Tourist Attraction) in Alberta (Canada).
At the moment this firm gets a score of 4.8 stars over 5 and that score has been based on 127 reviews.
As you can see it reaches an opinions average is practically the highest, and it is based on a large number of reviews, so we may be pretty sure that the assessment is quite accurate. If there are many people who bothered to evaluate when they are pleased with the business, it works.
You know that we don't usually stop to place opinions when they are positive and we usually do it only if we have had a problem or incidence...
This Tourist Attraction is classified in the category of State park.
Great park, visitors centre is very nice and has free wifi. Trails are well groomed and the signage is good. My favourite place to go.
Absolutely stunning
Went for an scramble in the park. Great Day!
We love this Park, especially the Mist Mountain trail with the hot spring
Amazing place!
Love this place. So much to see and do. No park pass required.
An hour drive away from Calgary. A Wonderful place to unwind and enjoy the beauty of nature.
Great family camping, quiet and easy to book! Access to awesome hikes and loads of wildlife viewing opportunities! Friendly staff.
This was a great campground for families!
Great for camping and hiking, although getting a bit crowded, and hard to get a site
Very nice place to camp or visit for day use. Lots of wild life. Down fall as of June 1 you need a pass for Kananaskis which is a $90 touch.
Really nice Nationalpark without any fees like in Banff or Jasper.
Hiking to the most majestic views of the rocky mountains
Maybe the most panoramic worthy place I have had the chance to see. Wildlife in its majestic habitat. Drive slow to enjoy the views and the sight of wildlife, also to avoid accidents as many animals are walking on the roads. Numerous trails to explore hiking or biking. The park is beautifully maintained! Very clean and well thought, with many areas to restore and have picnics. Just beautiful
Fantastic place to camp or visit for the day. More good trails for all skill levels and distances than I could ever count. Excellent campgrounds with good lakes for fishing, kayaking or enjoying a picnic on the shore.
What an amazing place. The amount of scenery is mind blowing. Get off the road and hike the trails.
One of canadas best parks. This has been my second yr in a row to camp. Will be back next yr. I love this place, quite and relaxing.
Some of the best day hikes in the area, and almost guaranteed to see some big horned sheep!
90 $ for a pass now? More than Whole CanadaParks! For what? Bluetooth connected outhouses? Multimédia signs? More asphalt and concrete in nature or just to give a overprice construction project to the brother in law of the boss?
Upper lake day use area has great views, lovely hiking trail and good bathrooms. Rocky beach area is fun for kids with lots of parking to make getting in and out easy.
Definitely worth the drive. Many campgrounds to choose from, very clean and we'll run. We visited in mid August so many trails and areas closed due to bear activity but still had a great time. Spent most of time at upper lake Kananaskis. Very nice and lots to see and do
My current favorite place to camp. You can find both prebook and first come first serve campgrounds in the park. There is an abundance of hiking and cycling opportunities in the area. You can even hike to the BC border. There are a couple of campgrounds along lower lake and you can kayak across upper kanaskis lake and camp in the back country.
Amazing views!
A great (and free) place for cross country skiing in the winter. Lots of track-set trails! Also a great place for hiking and camping in the warm seasons too!
Great place love coming here. Quieter than Banff.
Amazing nature.
Beautiful park. Definitely the jewel of K-Country. Probably one of my most favourite places in Alberta.
Upper Kananaskis Lake was absolutely beautiful and tranquil. No cell reception, very peaceful. Just love this place.
Lots of wild life out this morning.. beautful.
Lower Kananaskis Lake was beautiful. The mountains and fall colours a Definitely add to the beauty.
Did the Sarrail Ridge hike. Amazing views, cool vantage points, and a lot of fun. Definitely a favourite. Also looks to be a pretty popular hike as the trail was pretty busy. While going up/down, stick towards the gully as it is easier, else you are going to have to do more scrambling. Physical Difficulty - 6.5 / 10 Technical Difficulty - 4 / 10
Awesome 2 lakes that are not far away from each other. Usually gets busy on the weekend and parking is a struggle but not a big deal, as you can still park on the side of the road. Also, I would like to give credits to the RCMP and the Alberta Parks officer who helped us to change to a spare tire as we got a flat tire for some reasons. Will be going back for sure!
Did the Burstall Pass hike in late Septembe. Absolutely beauriful. Highly recommend.
I love this park and have been going here since I was a child. It is very senic and well cared for. Good to visit both in summer and winter.
An amazing place with great views
We are all so blessed to live this close to such a monumental landscape. Just hiked King's Creek Ridge, it's hard and straight up but thrviews are some of the best I've ever seen.
We love this place for cross country skiing. The hut is very cozy and a great place to end a run.
Great park so much to see and do you'll never get enough time endless hiking trails fantastic views always something going on love the short drive from the city too!
A fantastic day trip from Calgary. Lots of places to stop and hike or picnic. The views are fabulous.
Hiked to Chester Lake yesterday and it was really nice on the way. The lake itself wasn't all that great, however. Lots of snowshoers, but we were able to get by with regular hiking shoes due to the paths being packed down. If you step slightly off, you'll likely sink in so if you don't go with snowshoes, make sure to stick quite well to the packed pathways
SO many hikes from the interlakes parking lot. You won't regret visiting
The park has multiple campgrounds. We stayed at Elkwood Campground. Take a few minutes to stop at the visitor center when arriving for trail maps, exhibits, and to buy bear spray before heading off on trails. This is a large beautiful mountain park with tall trees and spectacular mountain views. Paved off road bike/hiking paths span distances between campgrounds. These paths include warning signs for steep hills and sharp corners. The campsite are shaded and well spaced providing privacy. A nicely equipped playground is available in the campground area along with central shower & flush toilet buildings. Lots of kids playing and biking. Campsites with power and water are available along with unserviced sites. Drinking water, sani-dump, visitor centre, great trails, great views, high elevations for cooler days in mid summer. Great park for a destination vacation.
Don't litter in the national parks
We went to Elk Lake Cabin, the weather was amazing! The cabin was very cozy and we had a great time exploring the surroundings! Which was amazing to say the least!
Absolutely stunning area... I continue to hike, bike, Snowshoe, camp, cross country ski in this amazingly beautiful area!
Its so beautiful. We did see grizzly bears. There is picnic tables there near a beautiful small lake. The view is stunning. There are washrooms but not flushing toilets.
A must stop on highway 40. One of Albertas most beautiful provincial parks.
Great place to escape the hustle and bustle of the city!
Amazing scenery and good access road.
Elbow Lake to Rae Glacier nice short but scenic hike. We went up the valley just NE of Rae Glacier for a more scenic view.
Absolutely beautiful everywhere you go. There are tons of trails and each of them is really well maintained. Hikes for all ages and skill levels.
Scenic views, exhilarating hikes, boating on Spray Lakes and picnic areas make for awesome adventure but road to Canmore is gravel only
Awesome place to go camping and undertake some outdoor adventure, however some of the public buildings, are in dire need of repairs. Not sure if Alberta Parks or the contractors who supposedly are in charge of maintenance of the park are the ones who make the decision of what building maintenance is performed but someone need to do it. If the park was not lacking in this area 5 stars would have easily been attainable.
Always a beautiful drive , lots of places to stop and hike, fish, or just enjoy some sunshine. First time taking my Motorbike through the Highwood pass. Watch out for cows , calves, deer and the occasional bear. Love this drive.
Always beautiful hikes! Stop by Engadine lodge for an "afternoon tea" service that will leave you stuffed and in little of dinner.
We have explored many parks around the Peter Lougheed Provincial Park but never went as far as it. I am glad we decided to travel a little further and take the scenic way to Canmore despite the state of the road. We drove typically have the speed limit however I enjoyed taking in the scenery. I do hope in the spring they plan to do some Construction to make the drive a little less rough. Many great opportunities to stop and take pictures or stop and have a picnic with an amazing scenic view. Letting people come here to go for hikes however we were just passing through. I'm sure we will be back to explore this beautiful park!!
Stunning. Amazing. Wild
Well staffed, clean, lots of signage, wifi at the visitors centre. Easy to reserve campgrounds, large sites. Go early to find parking at your fav trailheads on the weekends! I live in BC and was blown away by how well Alberta parks are run fr. Will def return.
Beautiful place and great hikes
Stunning fall day out in the park!
Beautiful snowshoe trek to Chester lake
the best serviced park i have encountered in alberta
A great alternative to the busyness of Banff and Lake Louise...Hwy 40 is a must drive in the summertime
Beautiful Canadian outdoors
One of the best provincial park in Alberta and is so close to home! Lots of activities, nice hikibg trails, canoeing / kayaking options and horse back riding as well.
View point blue barry trail k contry
We have only been to this park in the winter. Cross country skiing is fantastic here. We also do hikes which are slightly challenging in the winter but so beautiful.
Lots of access to great backcountry trails and areas. This is an easy go to area for backcountry skiing as there is lots of info online in routes, and it’s easily accessible from Calgary. Road conditions during winter are good, they plow the roads whenever it snows. There are lots of people the are around, but it’s still very easy to feel like you’re on your own. Never gets too crowded.
The best CC skiing in the province
Less known than many of the parks in the area, but great views!
perfect place to spend your day. practically in your backyard and you can easily spend a day or two here just driving, hiking, or hanging out
Had an awesome time here. Not too many people around, and there was a beautiful area for canoeing!
Amazing place to hangout for the day, lots of camp grounds on first come first serve basis. Lots of hikes available and can get busy in the summer if course.
Views were awesome
Flew up from California to visit Calgary friends in mid-January. One of the places we went was Chester Lake. Although they say May-October is preferable, it was perfectly doable in January. The roads to the parking lot were kept perfectly clear, so no problem driving there from Calgary. It was very peaceful without summertime crowds. We hiked the whole way to the frozen-over lake. It was very scenic. Encountered a couple of cross country skiers up there on the trail. In January, it was helpful to have hiking sticks and ice cleats on the shoes. We dressed warm, but I eventually had to unzip everything down to my shirt because I got so hot from the exercise. It was a great day and perfectly doable in January.
Amazing facilities and spaces for all to enjoy. The views are phenomenal.
Amazing views!
Love to visit as often as I can
Forks and Turbine Canyon backcountry camping facilities are well marked with bear bins, pit toilets and seperate cooking areas. Really enjoyed hiking in this park. Tried to do a loop in to Height of the Rockies but in that park it was not as well marked going from North Kananaskis Pass to try to get to Beaty Lake and Three Isle. Lots of beautiful scenery hiking in this park.
The drive takes about 2 hours from Calgary and the clear views of the mountains is amazing. I've always been amazed at how HD a mountain can look when you drive past one but the pictures I took while hiking were incredible. Photos were taken while hiking to Chester Lake. Also another picture taken while driving along Kananaskis. Hope you guys enjoy the pictures.
It's just about 120 km from Calgary to the junction of Peter Lougheed and HWY 40. This place is my favorite for photograph, hiking and biking. The landscape has its own beauty for all seasons. I drive early in the morning to get the fresh air, fresh look of the mountains range with sun ray on the peak I feel like I am lost in the paradise. Along the hwy 40 you can discover some picnic areas for day use with firepit on site. From Peter Lougheed junction to Upper Lake, Lower Lake (man made lake). At the Upper Lake you can hike up to Rawson Lake and it is beautiful landscape there.
Perfect place to relax and forget about the city No network signal so it's perfect to relax your mind and enjoy the nature.
Amazing place surrounded by naturee
Amazing park❤
Always a favorite of ours to escape to just an hour outside of Calgary. We get out there a couple of times a year and always enjoy it. Not too often you get all that neatness in one location. That's called nature.
A beautiful part of Canada. Spectacular views, amazing hikes. The roads are well ploughed in the winter.
Amazing time!!
Ptarmigan Cirque is always a great family hike. Really crowded today, but still amazing view!
This is a beautiful area of the mountains. There are many varied trails, ranging from easy strolls or bike rides with the whole family up to challenging summits for experienced hikers. In the winter, cross country skiers go along the groomed trails. In the summer, horse riders have a number of options to enjoy. Lots of wildlife inhabits these mountains so the patient and attentive hiker may be rewarded with the sight of an elk or bear. Keep bear spray on yourself, especially in the summer months as bears range in search of food. Bighorn sheep frequent this area too.
Great place to visit with family or friends all year round. Endless possibilities for hikes around or cross country skiing in winter. However you need to know what you are doing.
Beautiful spot, all the outdoor activities you could ever want.
An awesome place for camping
Gorgeous. Beautiful drive. Wonderful trails. See pics.
Visited for the first time in the first week of September. Lots of snow on the mountain and it was absolutely beautiful. Compare to the other mountain parks in B. C., Alberta and Montana, this is really beautiful. Lost of hiking, scrambling and photography opportunities.
The Rockies at their finest. Definitely a must see if you're in the area.
Protect and Defend Alberta Parks. It's our backyard and it deserves our love and respect. But most of all, enjoy these beautiful places.
Fantastic snowshoeing, hiking, biking. All levels of trails from beginner to expert. Good for all ages. There are all types of inclines, distances and vistas. Warning: the weather can change quickly, come with layers. A sunny day can turn into something fierce quickly with wind and snow (all year round).
Peter lougheed provincial park was amazing I totally recommend going and checking it out to spend a weekend or even a day trip there are so many beautiful hikes there and a lake to swim close to the campsite. Its far from sell service but if your ok with that then I would definitely check it out. You should try one of the meany hikes lots of the hikes are not to long so it good for everyone.
Beautiful, well maintained x-country skiing trails in the winter.
Great accessible relativelyelevated hiking. Burstall Pass.
Absolutely Amazing ????????
What can you say about a place with over 100km of groomed, trackset Nordic ski trails with wonderful views? It's superb. Keep it up Alberta Parks!
Perfect for visits to kananaskis lakes
Great conditions in early January for cross country skiing. Get your parking pass from Nordiq Alberta!
Chester Lake.
10th visit now It’s always a beautiful place to hike or camp HWY 40 is must driving road for summer time
I love it here because it is ultimate nature! Just go... dont read anymore of this.. get in your car/truck/motorcycle/carrier pigeon.. what ever you drive.. and get out to the mountains!!!! You wont regret it!
An awesome place to go for a hike, have a picnic, take pictures, run, bike, climb, etc...
Best natural camping in a campground I have done.
Such a beautiful area
One of the best places in Canada to cross country ski in winter. there are no trail fees.
Great trails! Roads/ buildings are in great condition!
Hiking biking mountains. Great park and you don't need a pass (sorry banff)
We went camping at Canyon campground. It was pretty neat and very peaceful. We enjoyed the bike trails around the campsite and lots of hiking trails too! There's also a lake which we really liked, the water was nice and cool perfect for a quick dip on a very hot day. Washrooms were very clean too! Would highly recommend for anyone looking for a quick and quiet getaway. :)
what an amazing place, felt like i was at home away from home, very accommodating, thank you for providing me with such a relaxing stay, i will be coming back.
So beautiful. If only less people went, it would be even better!! ????
Amazing place for camping. Love the lakes and scenery.
Great place to camp with family and friends. Very close to city as well
Great trail to the suspended bridge. Very easy hike.
It is one of the best parks in Canada! Amazing mountains, wildlife and facilities. Excellent camping and the visitors centre is like a free museum. It is always very well run and staffed with very knowledgeable and friendly staff.
Nice, lakes are still frozen
Beautiful place with less travellers than in Banff
Nice region if the weather is with you. Don't go there too late in autumn.
Wonderful experience. Lots of wildlife...even a 'good grizzly bear with cubs'. (That is what the park Rangers said). Human behavior not so good...driving is more deadly than the wildlife.
The Rockies are beautiful to visit, and I think most people overlook Kananaskis, as it's so close to Banff. Peter Laughed Park is great to visit as there aren't too many people there, since it's so far into the Kaninaskis area.
They have a great visitor center here and there's a nice deck that goes around the building. The views on hwy 40 around this park were absolutely amazing. I will admit I'd not previously known of this as a destination but now I'm dying to go back and explore the park further on foot.
Absolutely beautiful place, lots of different places to see, short or long hikes, picnic sites in beautiful settings, absolutely great for day trips, hikes, multiday adventure... everything for for everyone, families, with little kids or big kids, adults, adventures..
An amazing park with many incredible trails. The trail around Upper Kananaskis Lake is very popular, and for good reason, it's fairly flat and offers a sample of many different alpine terrains. This is just the tip of the iceberg for PLPP, from paved trails to multi-day epics this park has it all!
It is a nice place for camping, hiking, biking, and kayaking.
Beautiful spot for camping, fishing, kayaking, canoeing and natural beauty.
One of the most picturesque spots on earth.
So much to see, hike, explore, & experience. Watch out for bears & be prepared. Beautiful mountain views & plenty of water spots to enjoy. Stop a lot to check out different points. Lots of wildlife.
I love it here. Some of the best road cycling available.
Something for every level of fitness. From kayaking, paddleboating, avid walkers, dog walkers to just picnics with friends and family. Check out the very helpful visitor information center. Such nice ladies with amazing info for everyone and cheerful too????????????
Beautiful views Relaxing and tranquil. Take Simple snacks and trail mix with you. As for children they need comfortable boots and plenty of water.
It's kananaskis country and wow is it beautiful!
Very good views
Great location to visit ... when u reach here u can imagine that nature is everything to see , to live , to feel ...
Immaculate lakes: pristine hiking for three levels: hidden waterfalls:great access:no park fees:well marked trails: not busy
Wonderful mix of hikes
Great winter day in the mountains!
Such a great place to spend time camping.
This is a beautiful place. Lots to explore, some great picnic areas
Lots of trails to hike and bike. Such a great getaway for a hike or picnic amongst the smell of nature and a load off ones mind.
Lots of hiking trails, fishing, boating and camping although good luck finding a vacant camp site unless you book like a year ahead. Very crowded and hard to find parking.
Love it! Please keep it clean and do not damage the wilderness
Beautiful place! Lots of parking spaces and trails to seek an adventure! Dog friendly.
Very pretty place however a difficult trail to traverse for beginners.
This is a provincial park that butts up to Banff NP so the park and scenery is as great if not better than Banff. Hiking, camping, picnicking are just the tip of iceberg as to what you can see & do. Get off the roadways and enjoy this gem in the mountains. Visit you won't be disappointed.
Great for use in all seasons and to enjoy being outside in beautiful nature. Fantastic network of free cross-country ski trails.
Such beautiful environs in a backcountry that is easily accessible. We loved camping here.
The best views in Alberta! Tons of great hiking and camping for all experience levels.
An amazingly wonderful place. I want to give my thanks to all the people at the visitors' center who helped me and my wife find a way to get a great car-campsite during peak season, even though we were just "walk-ins" -- and to Sarah at the visitor center, a heart-felt "THANK YOU!" for your patience and advice.
Just a wonderful place to be!
It's beautiful. The campgrounds are well kept and there's tons of great hikes and scenery.
Great summer and winter
I was only here in mid march over spring break for one day of snowshoeing. The ranger at the visitor center suggested that if she was going to only snow shoe one trail it would be the Chester Lake trail. She was spot on with her advice. Most picturesque snow shoe hike I've ever had.
Beautiful
Free access to spectacular scenery. Hiking, cycling, fishing, camping. It's all here.
It's beautiful and quiet with few visitors. Gorgeous views. Take a lunch and enjoy the scenery.
Beautiful park. Views are amazing
Absolutely beautiful place
Good park with tons of family-friendly hikes. Well-mainteined trails and picturesque views but still have that wilderness feeling. Very much recommend to visit!
Great camping at the Lower Lakes and an overall good experience here. Would recommend the group sites for large groups as it is affordable and tons of fun.
Incredible views, lots of quiet nature and plenty of opportunity to hike, boat, camp etc.
Amazing facilities and spaces for all to enjoy. The views are phenomenal.
Great ride on the bikes!
Breath-taking scenery and lots of hiking trails of varying difficulty.
Best Provincial Park in Alberta ... fantastic campgrounds and hiking trails ! Great maintenance of facilities and trails ! Kudos to all park staff.
Good conditions and good tracks. Started to snow near the end of our ski. Very few people
Great early season ice!
One of my favorite places near Calgary
Mountain parks are necessary for those who like quiet tranquility and the unexpectedness of nature.
Amazing views in any direction. Wonderful nature experience.
Beautiful place. Absolutely recommend everybody visits!
Incredible! Breathtaking! Whether you're looking for a walk in the park or a scramble and climb up tough cliffs there's something for you in the park. Park staff are attentive and although you're out in nature, you're definitely not without help if you really were to need it.
Interlakes camp ground site 39
Great day! Beautiful snow and a great place for back country snowshoeing!
Another wonderful week spent in PLPP. Stayed in loop B of Elkwood campground. Has power and water. Great spot to camp in! Took our kayaks there for first time. Excellent paddling on both the upper and lower Kananaskis Lakes. Each only a few minutes drive from our site. The scenery is absolutely fantastic. The dumping station amenities are amongst the best in all of Alberta. Fully paved with potable and flushing water available.
Excellent park for a day hike or Snowshoeing in winter. They have multiple trails and you can get fairly accurate information regarding the difficulty level and accessibility. The park itself doesn't have lots of infrastructure and it is fairly self managed. Dont expect to find any restaurant there but they do have washrooms. Other than that you won't be disappointed with any hike here. I have attached some pictures from my recent Chester lake Snowshoeing trip.
