I miss this place. I wish to go there again and have the beef brisket sandwich.
Very nice staff, amazing food! All meats made to perfection and all house made sauces were outstanding. Add a great view to a great experience and enjoy.
Nice looking place but the service was substandard and food below average. Our server took our order and never returned, we had to hunt him down to get our bill and pay, someone from the kitchen brought us our food. The food was pricey (which was expected) but was cold and bland. The Pulled Pork Cigars which were "the best thing on the menu" according to our server where glorified spring rolls that were pre-made and microwaved. The order also only came with 2 potions for $14 so that's $7 per spring roll. We also had the poutine with brisket chili on it. The fries were only slightly warm and the cheese curds were solid, the chili was only slightly warm as well. The flavour was ok but it felt like the whole thing was pre-made and then microwaved for 15 seconds, not enough to make it hot but just luke warm in places. I think Chef Mike does a lot of work in this kitchen. I won't return.
The food was very good. The atmosphere was very relaxing. This was the only restaurant that we opted to visit more than once while we were in Jasper. So good!!!
Went to this place on June 19 around 11am and not only food was unreal, but the cook was amazing! I had this big wrap with fresh vegetables and meat. Awesome service as well. Will definitely go back again and choose over Subway!
Superb appetizers, decent meals but pretty pricey.
I have been visiting Jasper for more than 10 years now and never had a meal at this place before. The location of this restaurant is excellent -- just beside the canyon. The patio actually overlooks the canyon and the river. Arguably the best patio in Jasper. We loved the food! Particularly the short-rib was excellent! The sampler platter was enough for the two of us. Our server, Vernon, was very cordial and knowledgeable. He suggested a beer, which was an amazing combination with the food. Highly recommended! Great value for money!!! We will come back for sure.
Great views from the patio, easy parking, gift shop.
Absolutely top notch restaurant next to the first bridge in the Maligne Canyon trail. Wonderful service and even better food. Wished I was there at dinner time to try the platter, but can attest to the brisket in the brisket sandwich to being legitimately delicious.
After a nice walk along the canyon, stopping here for a beer and lunch was great! Amazing friendly service, great food and craft beer!
Wilderness platter is delicious! It's enough for two people
The beef brisket and chicken sandwiches were so delicious. The chives and garlic fries and mac n cheese was completely unexpected. In most restaurants, of the view was great, the food is usually sub par. But no. Not this place. Charming lodge, beautiful destination, amazing food. Other restaurants can learn from them.
Lovely and quaint with live music every Saturday evening. Very laid back atmosphere, good service. I have allergies and they modified without any issues. I had the squash soup with cinnamon cream. It was beautifully plated and delicious and then I shared the platter. I loved the fact that the BBQ chicken was moist and wasn't dry or undercooked and just the perfect amount of spice, the ribs were apparently perfect (I didn't eat them as I'm allergic to pork), the brisket was shaved so no awkward slicing when splitting to share, the venison sausage was delicious, and the grilled veggies were done in a pickling mix with great flavour. The other sides were also delicious. My biggest complaint about BBQ is that most times the meat is over dry and tend to be cheaper cuts and they use the sauces or rubs to cover that up. Not here. I also like that the food isn't over salted, another one of my biggest complaints about BBQ places. My only complaint was that one of the stalls in the ladies' room didn't have toilet paper, and in another stall the lock didn't work. Really glad I chose to come here, though. I'll be back.
Jesse, our server, was very nice, and provided excellent service and advice on the menu. We had the meat platter and it was delicious , very tasty and fulfilling. We ended splitting a smore dessert and it was a win. Definitely reccomend this place for dinner !!!
Amazing and beautiful location and great service. My boyfriend and I went here for a date night while vacationing in Jasper. I had the brisket and he had the salmon. Both were amazing! Only comment i would say was I ordered a glass of red Cabernet Sauvignon and it was not the best. Very acidic and rough. The picture posted is of our view from the patio they have.
Top notch food, views, sand service. Save room for dessert :)
A convenient place to have a light lunch after hiking the trail. Feel cozy and relax.
The food here is amazing! Their garlic fries and the in-house mayo has to go down as top 3 for sure. Props to the staff!
(Translated) The layout is excellent. The site is designed to cross the Maligne River several times. There are 6 small pedestrian bridges. The view of the canyon (gorge) is magnificent. The explanatory panels are very interesting and are written in English and French. The strength of the water is impressive. To visit absolutely! A Quebecois (Original) L'aménagement est excellent. Les panneaux d'explication sont très intéressants et sont écrits en anglais et en français. La force de l'eau est impressionnante. À visiter absolument ! Une québécoise
Amazing lunch provided as part of the Maligne Canyon Icewalks. Great day with delicious food. For only $79! Definitely will be returning one day.
Wow, the wilderness platter was so good and incredibly filling. We easily could have fed a third person!
Had dinner on the patio with my two roommates. Vernon was our server and he was super friendly, food was great! Would definitely recommend.
Nice relaxed vide. Reasonable price. Flippin' delicious veggie Sandwich with mac 'n' cheese side. Outside seating with fires and great service from Melody.
We had multiple amazing lunches at the Wilderness Kitchen throughout our trip to Jasper! We tried both the Grab & Go menu + the sit down patio lunch menu. Everything we ordered was delicious and beautifully presented! The views from the patio were quite spectacular as well! Amazing staff and great hospitality, and also really accommodating with food intolerances (gluten, soy, and dairy). Definitely a spot you don’t want to miss if you’re in Jasper or hiking at Maligne Canyon. Thanks Kurt for being a great server! We can’t wait to be back the next time we’re in Jasper!
I ate a beautiful dinner as part of a Jasper Dark Sky Festival event. The menu was set with a few choices. Oh my goodness, amazing food! We started with the arancini. Delicious! Then I chose the duck with mandarin sauce. Also delicious! The atmosphere was casual. During the day it's quite casual but in the evening, it had a beautiful elegance that I found comfortable and cozy.
The food was alright but the service was awful. I found the chef to be very rude to me when I asked a simple question. I will not be back here again.
Maligne's atmosphere was okay for the summer, but needs some updating. The food however was extremely good. A must is the Garlic Fries. Go for the rapids view and the food, you wouldn't be disappointed.
Delicious menu and attentive staff. Tried the wilderness Platter, trout and bison tartare
SPECTACULAR LOCATION! Outdoorsy, rustic, vibe. Amazing patio. Local beers on tap available. Great spot to have a bite to eat before or after doing Maligne Canyon hike. Staff and management are very friendly and accommodating. Definitely the best place in Jasper. Highly recommend trying the Bison Burger with Blueberry Chutney and Goat Cheese, baked beans as your side. Keep up the good work! 10/10 will return.
We had Thanksgiving dinner here and it was delicious!! The service was excellent and they were very accommodating to our party - 4 adults and 2 kids. The restaurant is newly renovated and would provide a beautiful backdrop for larger parties. We will definitely be back!
We thought this would be a massive tourist trap restaurant that is just there out of convince but we were wrong. Patio has an amazing view and sound of the flowing water. The staff were super friendly. The BBQ food was amazing. We had pulled pork sandwich and beef brisket. Super tender and nicely cooked. The side of garlic fries were super crispy and flavourful. The wait staff brought lots of water by without having to ask and they offered 15% if you booked the boat cruise. We are hoping to dine here again on our trip!
(Translated) This restaurant is a treat! We booked for a birthday and the attention of the waiter was at the rendezvous, small cups offered by the house it is always a pleasure. We chose a dish to share it was delicious, the meat was very tender. We had more than enough for two. The small downside is that the food cools quickly so you may have to think about putting the food in the heated dishes or offering several services. The dessert was at the top. It takes about $ 110 for two. This restaurant was my favorite of my stay.
We had the feature sampler and it was a fantastic meal for two people. The staff were friendly, knowledgeable and had some great stories. Makes for a great stop after visiting the canyon
YUM. To start off, this place is on the pricier side. So if you're looking for cheap eats, this place isn't it. With that being said, the quality and flavour of food was impeccable. We ordered the Pulled Pork Cigars and the Wilderness Platter. The value of the platter is unmatched. The meat was flavourful and the sides were unique and so tasty! They had run out of brisket, but the server ensured we got our monies worth with a few substitutions. If you choose to sit outside, you're seated beside the falls and are soothed by the sound of the water.
We had the most amazing brisket sandwich here. It was delicious. And the Mac and Cheese together with the lemonade, also brilliant! And all thanks to Ankit who served us brilliantly! Amazing recommendations. All of them were spot on. Nailed it The place itself is charming, and old teahouse, with great views. The patio was full of mosquitoes so we decided to eat in, but must be an awesome spot to have a nice lunch after doing the trail.
We were greeted by a staff member at the entrance who took our temperature first and then invited us in. We ordered coffee and hot chocolate, both of them really good. Prices reflects the convinience of a coffee shop right at the Canyon :-)
Excellent food
We had dinner here on a saterday night. It was not very crowded, which made it very enjoyable. Our waiter, Kurt, was very nice and friendly. We asked him for a signature dish and that turned out to be a shared platter. 4 kinds of meat, some side dishes, 3 sauces, and not to forget: the parsley fries. Njum! We both had a cocktail with gin, tasted great! The food, live music, great service and an amazing place to sit makes this a must do when around. The day after we returned for a sandwich with beef brisket. That was so good! Slightly hot, tender meat,... a bit expensive (12$/sandwich), but kinda worth the money :-)
We tried to get in and the place was booked by a Brewster bus tour. The alternative for anyone else is just prepackaged sandwiches and bottled drinks.
Great atmosphere, great view beside the river. Awesome staff! The food was wonderful
Wow!! This was one of the most delicious meals we’ve had. Location/food/drinks/service/price all 5/5. If there’s a way to give this place 6/5, I would. We went on a weekday in July and sat on the patio - this is a late review. The outdoor environment is serene as you’re overlooking the Maligne Canyon trails. The indoor seating is cozy, modern and subtle. We tried a large variety of cocktails dishes, everything was well-executed, balanced yet complex. From the cocktail menu, I’d recommend the Rumpert’s Campfire! This whisky based drink is transformed with bitters, roasted marshmallows, and infused in a smoky wood plate. We each had a second round after quickly gulping down the first. Other favorites include the Prickly Bear and Observation Peak. On the food menu, I really enjoyed Bison Tartare, Brisket, and the Bison Striploin. My only regret is only having a day in Jasper, otherwise I’d be back for brunch and dinner a second time! Hopefully we’ll be able to get out there and excited to see what new cocktails and dishes land on their menu.
Staff is rude and unwelcoming!!!
Food was amazing, the chicken was the best I had ever eaten. The brisket and ribs were very fatty and could have rendered a little more. They have some very interesting cocktails this one is themed on a campfire. The maple Blondie should be your choice for a dessert. We will go back just for it alone.
Stopped by here while staying in Jasper. Not only is it close to Maligne Canyon with incredible views, but the food was fantastic. My niece has dietary restrictions and can be a picky 4 year old, but the staff were incredibly accommodating and whipped up something she loved! Rio (I think that was her name) was a great server too, very attentive to our group of 7. Highly recommend stopping by!
Good for a cool drink on the deck.
Spent my honeymoon in Jasper. Met some awesome staff here at this restaurant! The food was absolutely delicious too. Can't wait to come back!
Fantastic meal! Shared a Wilderness platter--amazing meat and super filling, then they gave us dessert on the house for our anniversary! Great experience, great staff, great food!
I wish I could have rated the food, drink, or experience, however, we couldn’t even get in. After making a reservation through open table for my birthday, we arrived only to find the lights off and the doors locked. We were extremely disappointed that the hours were not synced with open table.
Amazing place. Great service and they are open year around.
Beautiful restaurant and nice food.. we went with our 2 little dogs and first time my dogs got a comfortable place to sit beside us while we were having lunch on the patio.. recommended
It's not possible to order just one dish. The price is 55$ (plus taxes) for an appetizer and one main course. Food was ok, nothing exceptional
Newly renovated and now it looks really nice and modern. Good selection of pastries and coffee too.
Absolutely amazing experience! We've recently moved to Jasper and have been meaning to eat here. After our walk with our pup we decided to stop here for lunch. The staff was so accommodating and allowed us to sit on the front patio with our dog. They even started us a fire and a staff member brought out water and a mat for our pup to lay on. So very thoughtful and not expected! To top it off, the food was excellent. Jesse made some recommendations that we loved! I would honestly give 10 stars if I could. Thank you for the exceptional service and delicious food! We will definitely be back.
The seating isn’t very comfortable. The fire tables are nice, but the issue then becomes space for food and drinks. The chairs that are available, you have two choices, to either sit on a wooden tree stub or a very deep-seated plastic patio chairs. We opted for the tree stubs just because it would be hard to reach on the table for our food and drinks if we were seated in the other chairs provided. The food itself was excellent, we had the platter, only issue I would say was the beet gnocchi was flavourless and chewy, but all the meats were cooked to perfection and tasty. Our service was a bit lacklustre considering we were one of only 10 tables for the whole restaurant. Our server took a long time to come back to ask us if we wanted dessert or to get our bill and was preoccupied with another table for 10 minutes talking, I had to ask some other server for the bill.
So pretty. N the food is amazing.
Awesome food. Came here after a hike for lunch and ended up coming back for dinner the same day it was so good. French onion soup was amazing for dinner. Split the wilderness platter for dinner with my husband which was good but I wasn't crazy about the chicken. Brisket sandwich for lunch was amazing.
Lunch
Nicest gifts... You can buy very beautiful books
Marie provided excellent service and that pulled pork sandwich was majestic!
Excellent service, great views, delicious food, enjoyable gift shop. The food there is small portioned but very filling. Highly recommend.
Great service and great food! Nice setting! And thanks to Jesse for the great suggestions on the menu!
Went in on a whim and we were not disappointed. The patio and view were lovely, the food was astounding, and our server, Kaitlyn, was awesome - friendly and informative and happy to chat with the chef in order to help me manage a mushroom preference. We'll be back next time we're in town.
Exceptional experience. Beautiful setting, fantastic food and great service. Their deck may be the nicest deck I have ever seen. --- Clean and smart COViD mitigation with wayfinding and good spacing
TLDR BELOW: Overall, I had a good experience, nothing negative happened. That being said, the food was just...meh. Everyone at the table genuinely believes that we just had re-fried LAYS chips, Uncle Ben's minute rice, and unseasoned meats. The drinks, mixed and ciders, were delicious! The wait staff were very polite, the chef was singing to the radio, as a kitchen team, everyone seemed well coordinated. TLDR: Definitely worth going to for a drink, atmosphere and staff are great, food is absolutely nothing special.
Meal type
Covid review - A yummy spot. They had a few fireplaces going, so it was nice and cozy in the rain. And I could see the river from the window, how cool is that? There where fewer spaces (duh) and all the other covid precautions, but staff seemed to be handling it all well. Super flavourful and fresh, everyone at our table loved the soup. Would eat here again
Great atmosphere and location. Food was very good. However, the food did take almost an hour to come out. I would have rated 4.5 stars if possible.
Jesse gave us great service. The Alberta Brisket Chili was amazing. Highly recommended. We'll be back.
Unreal food, great atmosphere and even better setting. Worth the trip
Food was really good, tour could have heen better. But the guide was awesome! Thanks for such a great experience!!
I loved the view and relaxed atmosphere on the patio, there are a couple of bonfires you can sit next to. The menu was not very varied but food was flavourful and tasty! They have diverse alcohol list so you can definitely find something for yourself. I ordered steak sandwich with sweet potato soup and enjoyed it a lot. The service was fast and attentive with valuable advices. If I ever go to Alberta again, will stop by for sure.
Food was good but service was slow. Went for lunch and it was pretty busy so I recommend reservations.
I wish zero was an option. The staff was straight up racist and the food was over priced. They charged us extra and just the whole experience was a bad one. This server "meriam" was perticularly racist with her comments and rude behaviour
We arrived earlier than our reservation time, bit the staff was extremely accommodating. Food was excellent and the service was great.
Service
I reserved a spot for 7 30 pm, we arrived on time and we've been waiting for over an hour and the store will close soon, the waiting time is ridiculously long. The food hasn't arrived yet, hopefully it'll be nice. OK now I'm editing my review. The food did taste good, but compared to the price we payed, the portions were very little. For example we payed 27.75$ for some rainbow trout but the portion we got was almost the half of the half of the trout so a quarter of it.(very overpriced). But it was still a good experience to eat by the river(on the patio). They have a lot to improve on.
During Covid-19, I asked if I can order take-out food. They replied: I have to dining in and can't take out any food. What a stupid rule!
We had Jesse as our waiter. Jesse was very kind, respectful and helpful throughout our experience. We had the wilderness platter as per Jesse’s recommendation, and MY OH MY! So delicious. Definitely MORE than I expected and more. So yummy! Jesse also recommended some delicious drinks that I enjoyed as well! Over all I loved this experience. This would have been the 2nd time I came here since the last time I came with my boyfriend. 11/10 would recommend ????
Excellent food and service! Hosted an event booking here and they took great care of us, recommend this location for event bookings. Also parked at 5th bridge and walked here for dinner or lunch a few times in summer and then walk back, for a very nice afternoon walk with awesome scenery and good food!
Make sure you call ahead for a reservation, but WOW! Everything we ate was five out of five! Not to mention that on Sunday nights they have a local playing music and he is amazing! The brisket is a must!
This review is not related to food..but on their customer service. The restaurant canceled my reservation without any notice..didn’t even bother to call me or anything. I wouldn’t think this is a good way to operate a restaurant business.
The brisket tasted delicious but really needed to be warmer. Same with the mac & cheese that was not creamy gooey hot but a chunky lukewarm affair. The vege side was a proper temp but $6 for 7 beans and a few carrot ends?! Save your money and enjoy the included-but-not-advertised coleslaw. The swarm of blood suckers from Mosquito Canyon certainly were enjoying their dinner - no doubt welcomed by the doors propped wide open all evening. To top it off, cleaning tables before closing seemed to take priority over taking dessert orders or getting me out of here! At least the brisket tasted good.
We stopped here after hiking the canyon, and the food was very good. Highly recommend the brisket sandwich!
Fantastic food with a great view! The acorn squash bisque was amazing!
Able to make reservations online with ease. If you are looking for an authentic and cozy experience in the mountains, this is a good place to spend some time in. There was live music which I enjoyed. Shared a platter for two and it was worth the price. We waited 50 minutes for our food bc they had a mishap with preparing our order however they gave us dessert on the house to make up for the wait. Because of the amazing food and good service, I would highly recommend this place.
Great experience. Had a great lunch while enjoying the surroundings on a rainy day. Food was delicious and great service ! Will definitely be back.
My fam and I enjoyed everything about this restaurant (except the mosquitoes). I highly recommend planning ahead with a reservation and enjoy the canyon followed by a great meal. Everything we got was well cooked and well presented. The Wilderness Platter can feed three. Mum and I order it and it was too much. The best part were the baked beans, who would have thought! Thanks for a wonderful experience.
Delicious lunch after a morning of fun adventure. Our waiter was very helpful and friendly. The patio has such nice view of the running water. Highly recommended.
Good view and food.
Yum. A little pricey. Great service. Beautiful view from patio. Awesome food.
Wonderful views. Food good but pricey. Used to be a Tea House but now a full service restaurant.
Maligne Lake Kitchen was incredible! My daughter and I ordered the wilderness plater to share, which gave us a bit of everything. Overall, our universal favorites were the short ribs and the mac and cheese. Our waiter Jesse recommended the platter and was polite, courteous and gave us some great ideas for things to do in Jasper. Overall a wonderful experience. Highly recommend.
Love the ambience and the outdoor view of maligne canyon. Drinks were good!! Appreciated the selection of different cocktails and also the food choices. Food was okay, some needed a bit more flavor. Presentation on food was good though:) overall go for the view and ambience of the place!
Good enough but need to stock the ingredients for the drinks they advertise.
(Translated) A nice and very hot place in those winter days. Cute thing made with love, for a detail (Original) Un lugar agradable y muy caluroso en esos días de invierno. Cosa lindas hechas con amor, para un detalle
Great Live music, very good service, lovely setting especially outside.
Great menu and excellent place to grab a casual bite to eat after exploring the canyon
Wow. What a fest. The gin cocktail is made extremely well and after a hike it really hits you. The portobello mushroom burger is great with amazing Mac and cheese. Prices are very reasonable. I will definitely be back. Ok why the four stars? We got seated and waited ten + minutes to be recognized or given water. We got the dinner menu two hours before they started serving dinner. So yes we were thirsty after the hike and felt it was a little disappointing we couldn’t get the food we wanted. Just some feedback. For reference we got here at 3pm and it wasn’t incredibly busy. Would still recommend everyone to come here. Ok edit changed from 4/5 to 5/5 cause the server we ended up getting was amazing.
What an amazing hidden gem!! Tucked away beside Malinge canyon, away from the hustle and bustle of Jasper town, my wife an I enjoyed a fantastic romantic evening meal. They have amazing beef brisket, ribs, chicken and sausage. The sauces are to die for as well. Tastefully decorated, relaxing playlist and a modern mountain getaway vibe. Plus everything was fairly priced. Would highly recommend for locals and visitors alike.
Pros: location Cons: Meat clearly not recently cooked and came out cold, sent the food back, same food came out 2 minutes later (microwaved) and was still cold. Awful service. Left the restaurant and went somewhere else. Heard similar stories from others. Avoid!
Had a wonderful dinner tonight here! Staff was friendly and helpful and the food was awesome! Had the sampler platter and will definitely have it again. The short ribs and the salmon were the highlight of the meats and my husband and I had to do rock paper scissors for the last beet gnocchi. We have definitely found our new favorite place to eat after a day of hiking.
Our visit to Maligne Canyon Wilderness Kitchen was one of my favorite lunches on our BC & Alberta roadtrip mid-September. Service here was very efficient and friendly (even though it was pretty busy) and I liked that everything appeared well organized. The food was delicious; we had two sandwiches, one with soup and one with salad, everything was fresh, tasty and came out fast. We also had a drink which was very good. The views are very nice as well, especially if you catch a clear day. Don’t forget to check out Maligne Canyon while you’re here - it’s truly spectacular and beautiful!
Visiting after much of the seasonal workers had departed left much to be desired. The few remaining staff seemed to put in a big effort while seriously short-handed, with everyone shuffling about to cover hosting, counter, serving, bussing and shop duties (our protracted meal gave us a lot of time to watch the pandemonium ensue). Nevertheless, the service and food fell short; our pulled pork and brisket sandwiches were scant on meat, not entirely heated through, and in dire need of moisture. The meal was redeemed only by the sides of mac and cheese and garlic fries. I would consider it a convenient spot to grab a meal after exploring Maligne Canyon, but not worth a trip out of your way or a long wait if there is one. We felt particularly bad for anyone saddled with hosting duties, because it meant having to repeatedly explain to those visiting the souvenir shop that they would be required to present proof of vaccination because the place is primarily a food service establishment. Then watching them be subjected to a shocking amount of hostility even though nine times out of ten, folks seemed to have the required proof that was being requested. It’s sad to see restaurant staff become punching bags for everyone’s frustrations. Just a reminder to anyone reading this to please be kind. Businesses and their employees are just trying to abide by government imposed health restrictions.
Great Food. Featured platter is recommended if you don’t have any idea
This restaurant is a gem! We had the mixed meat assorted platter and it was amazing. Cocktails were not watered down either. Gelato was tasty and the service was fantastic(Rio) and everyone was very welcoming! Beautiful view from the balcony but the inside of the restaurant is very nice too!
The patio where we sat is spectacular and highly enjoyable to have our meeting with the creek so close by. We had several appetizers which were all incredible, especially the cornbread. The elk burger was very good and we also had the meat sampler, but that was unfortunately disappointing as all the meat was very dry. Otherwise, very enjoyable.
Definitely worth going to, I'd highly recommend anyone traveling in the area stop here for their dinner menu and try the wilderness platter for two. Everything on it was delicious! Also, their drinks are great! The pickled asparagus in their Cesar's were better than any other we had in Banff/Jasper/Calgary
(Translated) Had a wonderful lunch after hiking the trail. The fries in particular were nicely seasoned and highly recommended. The restaurant looks cozy and there is a spacious outside terrace. Both outside and inside suffer from mosquitoes which is not nice. Think it can be very busy here in the summer as bus tours also stop, we have not been bothered by this.
Yikes! Waaaaay overpriced, barely there service. No thanks I'll take the fam elsewhere
Awesome place to go after walking the Canyon. I brought my parents all the way from Botswana to see this magical place and they Loved it.
Decent food but very expensive. Good views, not overly busy.
Small shop at the corner of parking of Maligne Canyon where you can get Tea/Coffee Ive cream.
Spacious restaurant with comfortable seating, inside and outside with the river flowing nearby.
ate here 3 times during our trip!! It was so delicious! everyone was so kind and remembered us each day.
We had the wilderness platter and it was AMAZING! Henrietta was the best waitress. Would recommend!
Brisket is to die for. Smoked for hours and blackened. You must try to believe it. Someone cares about food here.
Fantastic location and outlook. Great, modern food with reasonable prices. Excellent service. Highly recommended, well worth a stop (and even a 15 minute drive out of town)
Recently visited with a tour. The food was fantastic. The setting was busy, but informal. The staff hustled to keep up with the demand. They wore masks.
Service was good. Meal was very forgettable. Salmon was Over done & dry, rice was not hot. Ribs were fine but mashed potatoes were not hot. The beet gnocchi were very good. They only had one wine available as all other wine was sold out. You will get a much better meal in town. I would suggest The Raven
Excellent patio with stunning gorge and river view. Sampler smoked meat platter was delicious. Service was very attentive and friendly and it was a wonderful experience overall! Highly recommend
The sample platter is unbelievably good. Highly recommend eating here. Excellent service from Jesse. If in Jasper, you gotta eat there
This place is great, good service and food! beautiful outdoor balcony with a great view of the cannyon! Good to grab a bite after a hike!
Exceptional taste and quality, superb service, most beautiful view. Don’t overspend in Jasper town, eat affordable and amazingly cooked meals out here! Henriette did a fantastic job serving us!
Great atmosphere friendly people food was delicious
The food was fantastic and the service was very good. After we finished dinner, we did the loop with beautiful views of the Canyon. Highly recommended!!
Food was good but staff was unhelpful, unfriendly and just rude..they can use a customer service workshop. Not worth the visit.
Absolutely amazing view, food was amazing (it was busy, there was a wait for the food), will return when we pass by again!
A must visit next to the Maligne Canyon with a nice in-house tourist shop. Also starting point for many Pursuit adventure tours through the canyon.
Rustic theme works well. Serving staff busy amongst themselves & offered no help as we looked for menus.
Had a great time with my partner here on the patio. We had a lovely server Maddie, she really made us feel welcome and made the dining experience memorable! Try out their meal sampler, it tastes fantastic!
The food was great especially their meats! Very nice atmosphere, and you can smell the campfire in the restaurant! They have two outdoor tables with fireplace on the tables!
(Translated) Lovely place for quick food after the run (Original) מקום חביב לאוכל זריז אחרי המסלול
The food was amazing and the service was excellent! We noted it was our honeymoon on the reservation and they acknowledged it the moment we walked in and provided us with champagne to celebrate! Our server Jen was awesome, very friendly, checked in at appropriate times and didn’t miss a thing. We had the wedge salad and the sampler platter, both which were great. The platter is such good value, you get a LOT of food and good way to try a lot of the items on the menu. We will be back next time we are in Jasper!
Wow. The best meal that we've had in our many trips to jasper, and delivered at that! Impeccable service and they even threw in some extra goodies! We can't recommend this place enough!
Henrietta was awesome, food was amazing, ambience was suberb.... Will be back !
Nice restaurant but the prices were a bit steep, but the food was definitely worth it. Our server was also very polite and gave us tips for our trip.
Rude service. The person standing at the entrance told us we can’t sit and will have to pick up drinks and go outside. It’s the rude tone, unwelcoming gesture that put us off.
Wow! We were in Canada for 9 days and had many great meals. The brisket sandwich that I had here topped them all! Max made us a top notch Old Fashioned! Very warm and inviting atmosphere!
We went there in the middle of the day for breakfast/lunch because Jasper didn't have any power. After working up a sweat at Maligne canyon we decided to grab a bite. We walked in and were the only ones there. Nut the staff was so friendly. I got a bison burger and my wife got a turkey sandwich. Both were quite good! The quality of the place is excellent! We ordered our food and we sat down. About 5 minutes later they brought us our food. We asked for recommendations on what to do and the server vs e us great ideas of other aces to check out in Jasper. Hope to come back soon
Called to make a reservation, called over the span of two days and nobody would answer I had to drive in and make the reservation in person even then the food was very inconsistent and subpar by far. the waitstaff was very good however.
Great food. Highly recommend the bison burger. Also stopped at the front cafe for a coffee and decidd to get a treat too. That cookie is seriously one of the best cookies I've ever had! It's a pretty giant cookie. Share it or don't. Choice is yours.
This August, my partner, son and I had the absolute pleasure of dinning at The Maligne Canyon Wilderness Kitchen. Hearing of their delicious smokehouse menu via their facebook (give them a follow!) , we actually took a 3 hour detour of our road trip to have this experience. The safety precautions were fulfilled 110% as we entered, and we had the choice of sitting indoors or out on their wonderful patio. Emerged in nature, and a full service lounging area for those beautiful sunny days. We sat at one of their fireplace feature tables, and quickly were greeted and provided wonderful service. The food is outstanding, you MUST try the french onion bowl! You can taste that the food is made with time and love, that the staff are humbled by working there and enjoy their roles. The restaurant manager also came over to say hello as we were finishing our meals, and was such a pleasure to converse with. Very passionate of her location and of her team. I cannot say enough good things of this establishment and that you would be naive to not to make the time!
Simply put, the food here is fantastic! A group of 8 of us were in Jasper in July for a few days and went to this restaurant one night. The restaurant is a converted historical train station. Trains still run by the restaurant. Being a large group, we were able to order different items from the menu and share. From the brisket to the beef short ribs, to the chicken and dumplings, to the salmon, and the striploin, everything was made to perfection. Either we were so hungry after a day of hiking or the food was so good, nothing was left on any plates. Definitely recommend this place!
Waited 40 minutes for a table, the restaurant ran out of water so they couldn't serve us which I understand. All they did was come to us and ask us to leave. We had a 20 month old with us, the least they could have done is offer a complimentarygrab and go sandwich but all the servers were keen on was kicking us out. Very poor service.
Incredible food in a cozy atmosphere with gorgeous scenery and over the top service. We had a minor error with one dish and they went so far above and beyond to make us happy that I'd give them 7/5 if I could.
We had the chicken sandwich and it was absolutely amazing. The mac and cheese side was also really good, as were the drinks! Great location with outdoor seating right by the water
Spectacular food. Their in house smoked meats were shockingly good. Maria was fast friendly and very efficient. Go eat here if you’re anywhere near Jasper.
Yes the location by the river is beautiful, but the food is good too !! The waitress Maria will make it a very good experience. The selection of wines contains Canadian and local vineyards, quality of products is excellent. Will come back again !
5 star VIEWS AND SERVICE !! Me and my girlfriend were visiting from Ontario and was celebrating our anniversary. FRANCIS was an absolute gem. He made such efforts to make our day special. He was so attentive and personable! Thank you so much !
We had a very strange experience when we tried to eat at Maligne Canyon Wilderness Kitchen this afternoon. We asked for a table for three but were told that they were fully booked for this afternoon and this evening. We were told we could grab some snacks to go. We said we were okay but we would still like to shop in the souvenir shop which was right beside the restaurant. As we were shopping for souvenirs for about fifteen to twenty minutes, we noticed another employee seating three other couples and groups without reservations. We asked the original employee who talked with us what was going on, and she stated that some seats became available as guests left. She then said she would see if there was a table by asking another employee. After she came back, she stated that she did not work in the restaurant area but the souvenir shop and was just helping the restaurant out. I was upset after hearing this, so we just decided to buy some souvenirs and leave. When purchasing the souvenirs my Wife and Son overheard the same gift shop lady remark to another employee that we "were angry and leaving". It's a shame that such a fine establishment has this level of disorganization.
Went to the new Wilderness Kitchen, the shuttle was excellent, beautiful bus and young lady driver was friendly and courteous. The hostess was welcoming and attentive and so was our waiter. They did not yet have the beer on the menu I wanted but I guess that’s understandable for being new. 3 of us had the Maligne platter. The portions were good. I felt that promoting as a smokehouse the meat would be more smokey but it was more bbq. A bit spicy but good if you like bbq. The sides were very good. Mac and cheese, grilled veggies as well as garlic fries. For the vegetarian option the gnoche lacked a bit of flavour and was just a basic tomato base. The value for that dish seemed lacking as all meals were priced the same at 55$. Both soups were very good appetizers! For the price the dessert should have been included. The entertainment was unique and we enjoyed the indigenous music a great fit for the setting. Beautiful gift shop and restaurant.Fire pit outside was also very nice.
Was the highlight of my trip to Jasper. Absolutely loved the food and scenery.
Got the brisket sandwich. House smoked. It was ok. The garlic fries were very good. Literally 2 forkfulls of coleslaw which was also ok. Also ordered a specialty coffee which was lukewarm and also just ok. Overall underwhelmed and didn’t feel like it was money well spent. Location is amazing.
Lovely location, peaceful, great presentation & food is very filling! Go for a hike before or after....it will do you good!! Reservations required. Would be ideal for a girly day ????
Great spot for a meal or a beverage. From the patio you can see the falls. The food was delicious. The best mac and cheese. Service was great. Go for a hike to see the canyon them refuel here after.
Superb experience with Maddison making our outdoor dining e per truly memorable and delightful. We planned to share the Wilderness platter and the kitchen very kindly placed this on two separate boards complete with all the sides separated as well. Our picnic table was right beside the Athabaska river Service was excellent and food outstanding highly recommend it if you happen to be in Jasper.
What a nice place it could be... Bought a coffee and a cookie, however was immediately told not to try to have a seat inside, because seats are for dining orders only. Really ? Plenty of seats, many of them are not occupied. But no, only if you are dining in.Otherwise please enjoy your coffee outside. The gift shop sharing the same roof is open for everyone, no matter if one is dining in or having a coffee. The first time I see such a setting ... allowance for having a seat is determined on how much one pays for the order. What a ... Would you say it because of covid of course ? Apparently covid would know who to attack based on the amount paid.
Nice place but I was disappointed with the sign that says they will not fill up your water bottle. You can buy a water bottle for $2.
Amazing little gem. We came here because of the smoked meat, we stayed because of the amazing service. Henrietta was a superstar, amazing service, full of laughter and passion for her job. The food alone was fantastic, great smoked meat, beans, mac and cheese! Not to mention the smores dessert, rich and filling. I will come here every chance i get when im in Jasper. Great Job guys and gals!
If you are going to require reservations, answer the phone! Tried several times during the day to make a reservation. We were turned away by the hostess saying there were no walk ins for the night
Awesome location, good food, nice staff The pork sandwich is a must try
Wow…. The view you get on the patio is unmatched anywhere. The sound of the rushing rapids and the scenic view coupled with the delicious Sampler platter is the cherry on top for the evening. Lovely evening and lovely service from Vernon. He was amazing with the kids!
Awesome food after a long hike along the waterfalls
Food -3 Service-4 Deco-4.5 Cleanliness-4 Value for the price-3
Food was delicious and perfect after hiking in the Canyon. Thanks Vernon:-)
We were wowed by the service and hospitality. We came as a family of four and were about 10min late we tried to call ahead but no service in the area. The setting is in a beautiful woodsy area with a really cozy feel and the outdoor fireplaces were lit. Our server was very focused on us and making sure we were satisfied with our orders. The food came relatively fast. We loved the platter idea and sharing from same. We ordered dessert afterwards and I ordered the Apple tart with French vanilla gelato. I have to say my tart was not as crispy as a tart should be but the server geniunely cared if I was satisfied. We would for sure come back again.
Food and service were only ok. Restaurant was nice but nothing exceptional. Would have expected better for the money even for the location.
This restaurant is way better than I was expecting at a tourist stop. I had the steak sandwich. It was excellent. It came with french fries and grilled mushrooms and onions.
Best bbq platter I have ever eaten, all smoked in house.the sides were also very delisious, baked beans were spectacular with pieces of cut up brisket in them. Best place to eat in Jasper.
Excellent Service and the food was amazing. The server was very respectful and she gave us some great suggestions for vegetarian food options. Everything she suggested was Awesomeness ❤️ Finished the entire Maligne canyon trail and at the end , treated to some delicious sandwiches here!! The location is awesome too, right next to the gushing waters of Athabasca river... Perfect and All star restaurant for Ambience and Food.
Best french onion soup I've ever had. Next time I want to try the pulled pork sandwich.
Been a while since I was here, but was left waiting at the wait to be seated sign while employees looked at me so I left thanks!
Very nice venue and food.
We had a Wilderness Platter. It’s amazing and had a wonderful dinner in the patio. Staff - Vernon was very nice and helpful. Highly recommended Brisket, Beef Rib and Salmon. Also we grabbed a Bison Burger for lunch when we left Jasper.
Excellent food awesome service
Staff was very disinviting. Wouldn’t seat us, then told us to sit on the patio then never came out and asked us if we wanted anything. Restaurant wasn’t busy. At all.
This review is long overdue. I came here with my bestie over the summer and we had such a great experience. We ordered the platter and everything on that platter was scrumptious. I would highly recommend it. They were also able to accommodate my friend who only eats GF foods and our server Maria, was careful to check with the kitchen to verify whether Items were GF or not. This place also has the best caesar I have ever had in my life. I downed the first one within a couple of minutes and ordered another one. I ended up ordering three they were so good. Our server, Maria, was a sweetheart, very warm and friendly. Thank you for a wonderful dining experience!
Recommended !!! The service was good, the food delicious. The waiter was very attentive and the recommendation he gave us was very successful.
One of the best restaurants I have been too!
We got the Wilderness Platter and it was perfection! Amazing flavours and presentation was beautiful. Service was wonderful. Would definitely come back!
Absolutely horrible service. Our server, Miriam, was extremely rude. Please avoid.
Dine in
Food and atmosphere was excellent. There was a Cree singer who sang indian songs accompanied with a indian drum. Enjoyed the experience very much.
This restaurant is fantastic, a definite must if you're visiting the canyon. We went there for both lunch and dinner and portions are very generous and super tasty.
