Beautiful view and only a short walk to actually see the Hoodoos. A place to stop by on your way to Banff!
Quick and easy walk with our dog
Amazing. Following wolf tracks and a kill in the snow. A little intimidating being in the wild but equally amazing. While looking out we got to hear a pack of wolves howling in the valley. Beautiful place to walk around.
Oh my... the views here are unique! (My photos got a little smokey because there was a forestal fire in British Columbia the past day.) If you like to hike then go to see the Hoodoos ????
Beautiful spot, lots of parking, gorgeous views, novice to medium class hikes.
A must do if you like to see great mountains and splendid colors
Easy and beautiful walk, just minutes from Banff campgrounds. The view is at its best late in the afternoon when sunshine falls from the west.
Very nice view. Just a little concern about the safety of the wooden fence is loosening and is very dangerous with kids and all visitors as well. I hope this gets fixed. It is only wrapped in red tape which i think is not safe enough.
Beautiful Scenery with iconic Red Chair resting point
Excellent local scenery. There is an easy trail to walk along that will pass by the viewpoint. The hoodoo is cool but it's the rest of the local scenery around it that is amazing. The Hoodoo is a tall this rock sticking out of the mountain.
Amazing view, absolutely beautiful
Found a lot of new squirrel buddies at this viewpoint. Very nice, clean and wonderful view.
A nice view point looking at the hoodoos. It is fairly accessible to people with mobility issues. It is also a good place to park and access the hiking and mountain biking trails on Tunnel Mt. The parking lot of small, but there are toilets there too.
Love this view! Breathtaking
It was ok. Last time there the Elk were in rutt on the other side of the river so it was a great experience.
Its awsome a must see
The view was breath taking. There is a short hiking trail going down to see the hoodoo upclose and a trail going up as well.
Beautiful, not too crowded
Great stopping point in the Banff area, away from the busy downtown. Spend a few minutes and start the walk along the easy trail for some great views. More adventurous people can keep going and spend much longer hiking along the trail.
Super pretty and we were pleasantly surprised there was only 2 other people there so could take in the views in peace
My camp site was just across the street for a week. This spot is heavenly. I watch the sun Rise and Set here a few nights.
The hoodoos are quite far away from the lookout and you can’t get much closer. There are about four so don’t go expecting a whole lot of them. There are about 3 viewing points of Bow River, and Mt Rundle, Sulphur Mountain and Tunnel Mountain. There is also a set of the red chairs along the trail! We did the Hoodoos Trail which takes you from the Hoodoos viewpoint to Surprise Corner. Should take about 40-50 mins if you don’t stop. Hard not to though as you get right up to the Bow River. As most parts were frozen, we had the best time playing on the frozen river. The trail was largely flat - some incline and decline but generally an easy trail. Can see this area getting busy during the warmer months! The highlight was definitely being the only ones around. If you’re going to checkout this viewpoint, and you enjoy hiking, check out this trail as it gives you views from sea level. Amazing during sunset too.
Who would have known hoodoos in Canada and the Fairmont hotel in the background the bowriver below
Super short walk. I mean literally 5 minutes and it has beautiful views the entire way.
Nice stop along Tunnel Mountain road- easy to access and great photo opportunities- unique!
Great little hike with 3 view points. I thought there where going to be more hoodoos but, nevertheless it was a great quick and easy hike. There are washrooms in the parking lot. Trail is easily marked. At the top, the trail breaks off into longer less marked trails.
The mountains glow pink at sunrise from above. It’s incredibly beautiful and worth the trip!
Great spot for a day trip
When I saw the sign for the Hoodoo view point I wanted to go check it out, expecting to see something similar to the Hoodoos in Drum Heller. There are basically 2 hoodoos visible from the trail. Don't get me wrong, it's a nice view of the river valley (and surrounding mountains) and there are a couple Hoodoos to see. I was just expecting a little more, or a closer view of them.
There will be much more to check out if you plan to go further north, honestly Banff is just a start, way more mountains and lakes to see.
Quick and easy walk with our dog
Spectacular view ????????
10 minutes from Bunge only. Amazing view! Worth to visit
Stunning. No hike required, just a beautiful walk with an incredible view.
This is a short, moderate hike to some incredible viewpoints, overlooking the Banff Hotel. I would say that this trail is ideal for all adventurers. I would not recommend it for people with young children, strollers, or those with physical ailments since there is a portion of the trail that is narrower and isn't closed off down a small cliff. Most of the trail requires both: proper footwear and a decent camera! Also make time to stop and breathe in the views!
Beautiful view, was cloudy and about to storm but the trail was calm and the views were fantastic. Will go back again with more time and hike the entire loop!
Nice place to stop and check out.
Doesn’t seem to be a bad time of year to visit this spot. Every season gives interesting views along the trail.
Magical on a bad day...always worth the stop when your as lucky as I am.
Great view and so close to downtown Banff Hoodoos are a great, quirky landform
Amazing views and the easiest hike.
Stunning view. Easy walk. Adequate parking.
Not too crowded.Trees obstructed the view.
Nice walk up to the viewing platform. Was not too hard, & the view was very nice
If you are on this side of Canada, you must stop at this point. Relax your limbs and sooth your eyes and soul with nature’s designing caliber!
We came here for an easy rainy day activity. You can hike here from Surprise Corner, but there's also a view point you can drive to. There's several viewpoints where you can see the hoodoos a short walk from the parking lot. The second and third ones have the best views. I thought there would be a bunch of the hoodoos, but there's only one small group of them. If you're in the area, is worth stopping at, but I don't think it's worth going out of your way for.
Great little place to stop and check out some jaw-dropping views. Highly recommended checking this place out, even in the winter!
This was a really pleasant walk. There are several viewpoints along the way. The hoodoos are very interesting, but the other scenery is fabulous. I'd highly recommend the short wall to the views. As an added bonus, we ran into a herd of elk... nine cows, three calves and a bull, in the velvet. This was a very worth while jaunt.
Great hike from Surprise Corner in Banff up to be the Hoodoos trail and view point. The river you walk along for the first half is just gorgeous.
Wonderful place.... great place.... amazing place... where you find peaceful...
Kind of a surprise, I have been to Banff before but randomly stopped here. This is a stunning view point. It's easily accessed, including those with disabilities and one of the most impressive views easily accessed in Banff. Check it out and if you have time, take the trail. The hoodoos are neat, but not what makes it impressive, for that, just look at some of the photos!
Very beautiful and popular viewpoint in Banff.
Such a beautiful area.
Beautiful place.
Excellent trail with great views of the Bow River and valley. Accessible, since most of the trail is paved and there are plenty of spots to sit and catch your breath along the way.
Interesting, but Bruce Canyon is more amazing.
Great view. Easy not to long trail.
A Nice Trail in Banff, Providing some Exceptional Views of the Strange Hoodoo Formations, and the Bow Valley. It is a well maintained trail area by Parks Canada, with Info Posts. Sometimes the only downside is the amount of tourists visiting at peak times.
Great overlook of the Bow River Valley and a small stand of hoodoos. Great, paved path with overlook points and parking lot.
Very nice place to walk around. It's always very pleasant to walk around those canadian views. It was very icy when we went so need to be careful in some areas and wear the proper shoes when it's snowing.
Easy hike. Nice views
Beautiful view and nice place for walking. They have some bench along the trail to sit when you get tired. Sign are informative. Well maintained place. Popular with tourist. Will come back to hike the trail. Do not miss this place.
Breathtaking absolutely beautiful makes me not miss Florida at all
Nice but kind of underwhelming. No really hoodoos but still an amazing hike
Never knew they even existed. But the view is great!
Nice short hike, very scenic
A lovely lookout. Handicapped accessible although the way up is a bit of an incline. Steps from the first viewpoint. About a 2 min walk to the next viewpoint which is the nicest view but it is quite a steep incline for those struggling with mobility. There are 2 chairs to sit on up there. Amazing view :) Even with the smoke from the forest fires!
Beautiful nature, beautiful scenery.
If anyone has issues with this view, well...they must be nuts. Gorgeous, expansive viewpoint! There were a herd of 30ish elk just chilling below. Amazing.
Great views and not busy at all. The paths are well maintained and clean.
Gorgeous scenery, a very nice and relaxing trail to spend a couple of hours, there's free parking too
A hidden us hidden gem. You won't be able to see this place from the road. Make sure you stop there and go for a walk. Amazing sceneries from Banff and mountains. Also interesting landscape.
Hoodoos is basically the glacial deposits which have formed at this place, beautiful, well maintained, undergoing road maintenance as of now.
Much like life, this viewpoint is for everyone but best enjoyed without children. It is so calm and peaceful overlooking the valley. The trails are well kept, easy and accessible with many lookout points. Bring Grandma but I can not stress enough to leave your kids back in town. Enjoy the peace because you know once you get back to the Airbnb it will be non stop complaining from the mini humans all over again. Take a moment to recharge before they suck the life force back out of you. We should have picked happiness and big sacks of cash, why did we have children!?
This is a nice short hike. Great views.
Loved the hike, there are a lot of trails to explore. Trail towards hoodos is bit slippery, use proper hiking shoes and equipment, lots of steep slopes.
A great 10km walk to get all scenic views.
Interesting natural sculptures. Lovely area.
Great spot for the person who loves the nature, first time been here which is nice and friendly for the senior visitors and young
Good place to hike with kids but if you want to go closer to the hoodoos it's a bit challenge but fun.
Well worth the trip, and walk, beautiful spot
A gentle stroll, doesn't take long and is very pleasant with interesting views. If you choose to visit, please stay on the paths, give wildlife their space, and for goodness sake don't try to climb the Hoodoos (it always ends in tears).
Awww ???? the beauty of nature a gift allows us to seek the uniqueness of God's blessings to mankind
Just a short hike from the parking lot and the view is amazing.
Gorgeous little spot to stop and enjoy the view.
Absolutely breath taking view. Super easy to get to even in the winter. I highly recommend it taking everyone to check out this view point.
An easy walk from the Tunnel mountain campgrounds. But also nearby parking if you’re in town. Hard packed trail and an interpretive signage. Stunning views of the Bow Valley
Nice walk with decent views. Short drive from busy Banff.
Great spot to check out local scenery. There's a small parking area and a path that leads to couple of viewpoints. Wouldn't call it a hike, but more of a 10 minute walk.
Sign says a "mild" incline - not even close! It's not for the faint of heart but it wasn't the most difficult I've been on either. Beautiful mountain views if you remember to look behind you. Keep an eye out for Caribou and Stone sheep.
Great place to trek. Awesome view all around too
Breath taking views. It's definitely a worthwhile.
Great views and a great walk. Recommend a guided tour here so you learn the geology of the site.
Very quick little hike with great views and lots of chipmunks. We took our five small children and had a blast.
Lovely
Good place to see the nice overview. It is cold and windy even at summer (early July). Easy parking.
Very easy hike. Easy to bike. A little busy but still lots of space.
Beautiful views
Good and small trekking... You can see natural bodies formed in muddy stone in background
It's such an amazing view of the mountains and the bow river
Excellent views and nice well kept trail
