Great spot to visit or go to launch a raft! About 3 hours to three mile bend from here under normal river flow.

Staff who works here is amazing! Lots to do and see. Covid changes things but there are still events and information to acquire. Lovely space overall!

Fort Normandeau was quite nice! The staff was also very friendly. They have a nice little interpretive center as well as a small fort. The main building of the fort is open to visitors to see t things from the past. There is also a very large teepee on site for people to enjoy. You can also put a raft or canoe in at the ramp that is there.

Very good

Always good for a walk with the dog and fam-jam

Jawed Iqbal

Nice natural scenery and good view of the river which gets super busy with rafters / canoers on weekends. Picnic tables with typical fire pits that one can use, although most people bring their own BBQ grills. However, there is no playground area for kids and the person giving the "interpretive" tour is a millenial SJW who provides biased "historical" information influenced by far left ideology

Joel Randall

Cool little historic site here! They have some chickens and other animals in the summer months. Nice place to have a picnic and fire. The restrooms are nice and always clean. It is a good spot to put off for a short river float to Bower Ponds

Been going there for more than 30 years since when it was still a camp ground. Anybody around here over 50 was likely conceived out there. Now historical education is top knoch. Best kept secret on the Red Deer.

A nice place for a picnic! The historical aspect is good but very minimal. The events in the summer are fun! Fort Normandeau days is a great event. Parking is minimal in the summer on a nice day because the boat launch gets full

So beautiful place I leave here for 14 year and I didn't have an Idea this place existed

Jennifer Thomas

It was a good experience to visit a historic site and remember what I learnt in Social studies. Its located about 10 to 15 minutes from the Red Deer Sports Museum. It's a very huge place with a beautiful river view ,natural scenic beauty. The staff are very courteous, friendly and helpful. I visited this weekend and there were many activities. One was an enactment with cannon and there were many other interesting things to do as a family, especially for kids. At main reception you can get snacks, drinks, icecream etc. The exhibits are really worth seeing. Our Province has so many beautiful and historical places to visit.

Great outdoor family adventure. Lots of walking and fresh air. Good for a family outing

Susan Stefura

Peaceful place to go right near Red Deer

Dave Langbroek

It was a beautiful day but there wasn't that much to do. This place would benefit greatly from a nice 1-2 kilometre walking path.

Rob C

The staff are very unhelpful. When asked about where to park, all she could muster was a very frazzled 'i don't know what to tell people'. I also scored an 'i told you so' moment, but my friend (along with many other people) scored a $50 parking ticket. Everybody's best friend, the county mountie, was laughing all the way to the bank today.

It's a beautiful area to have a picnic for the afternoon. Full washrooms with running water are great. Boat launch is a nice area for getting into and out of the river with kayaks or inflatables.

Not open for me either brought my uncle was not impressed Drove from Calgary got there at 2 p.m. walk around for an hour September Tuesday the 12th in the maps under Alberta Ghost Town they have this place on the other side of Red Deer thank goodness I looked it up but I guess it was closed anyways

Karl Baker

Boro Grubacic

The website stated the Fort was "open" arrived there to find it closed. Very disappointed.

Irit Brantz

Nice location by the lake, and interesting first nation history.

Santana Friesen

Love the place and the people

Patsi Earl

Never even knew this little jem of a park was here. Great surprise! Beautiful! Nice facility.

Vincent Wong

Went during open hours. The washrooms were open, but other than that everything else was locked up. You can walk the grounds, but other than that it's a waste of time. Not much more than an out of the way restroom stop. This is my reply to "Response from the owner" - We arrived at Fort Normandeau at about 4:30pm on May 21, 2019 and there were no other vehicles in the parking lot.

Leanne Worr

The most serene and historical natural beauty in Red Deer. A must see!!!

Jonatan Roy

Quiet place to relax on the edge of the Red Deer River

Visiting this historic site was a good experience, is easy to access and you can walk, have a picnic, go to the river and have some fun. Washrooms are clean. I definitely recommend this place ????????

Brandon McDonald

Love this place! Beautiful well kept park!

Cory Pittman

Nice area, not much there. You may kill an hour of you take your time. Nothing for kids to occupy them. Needs more displays, crafts, activities, etc. Pretty boring spot, take a lunch, that's about the only thing to do there.

Peter Fuzessery

We were there photographing a wedding. Nice place. Lots of people launching rafts to the river from this location. First time here. Lots of apace to have a wedding outside and a campfire in a sheltered area. Only bad part were the extreme number of wasps getting into the food. Staff moved refreshments inside. Nice day but a little smokey.

Rick Jesse

Great spot for a quick stop and a bit of history

Wayne Blackmore

Beautiful day to enjoy the Fort and interpretive center

Dax Williams

I have lived in Red Deer for 20 years and never really taken the time to go out there and do the interpretive center and stuff. Its so interesting, its like the social equivalent to Kerrywood Nature Centre, which is all about the natural history of the region. Very informative, with a nice layout and good displays.

Richard Edwards

Lots of fun with the kids

Gord Taggart

Verry nice

Karyn James

My husband, son and I toured the Fort today and enjoyed the site. We relaxed on one of the Fort's park benches by the Red Deer River and it was so peaceful...made us wanted to actually step into the shallow shoreline just to get the feet wet but we remained at the bench.
