This testamonial had to be written. Last month, while on business in Toronto, I had a mechanical emergency with my foreign car. My experience with Japan Auto Parts was outstanding. My local Toyota dealership was unable to properly diagnose a problem with the power steering on my FJ Cruiser and told me the only way to fix my truck was to replace the entire power steering assembly for $4,000. Japan Auto Parts quickly identified that only one steering component needs to be replaced due to excessive corrosion and fixed my truck for $550 (including parts and labour). In addition to this, the staff was extremely friendly and helpful. This will be my go-to mechanic for all future problems :-)

Straight talk and fair price. My experience with Bruce and Ronnie was that they delivered on the reviews from their web page and my initial consultation. I had done my homework on comparable prices and alternatives to my 2007 VW Passat wagon's transmission problem. Since my transmission rebuilt, I have been driving the car like a 16 year old with a lead foot and have not had any transmission issues. While hoping not to need them again... I know when problem strikes, I will be back with any of my cars. P.S. This review is from Larry rather than Charlotte Biricz as Google Chrome mistakenly attributes.

Booked an appointment for Wednesday morning (this week) to get my brake pads and rotors checked. Recently, I went to get my vehicle's (2018 Acura TLX) oil change done at a different shop and one of the staff told me that my brake fluid was running low and how it could be a sign that my brake pads are worn off. So I went online and discovered Japan Auto Parts & Service which was conveniently located about 10 minutes from my home. When I came in Wednesday morning to get my brakes checked, I was able to meet Ken (the same individual who booked my appointment over the phone). Ken was really friendly and even kind enough to introduce me to some of the staff/mechanics, as well as giving me a full tour of the place. While waiting for the inspection to finish, I was able to meet Craig, who was one of the other office staff members. Craig was also really friendly and we were able to engage in many interesting conversations. Ultimately, after the inspection, we discovered that my car's brake pads and rotors were fine. Now since, I paid for the diagnostic test, Ken and I were able to work out a deal in the event that my brake pads do wear out and require a replacement. Ken also offered a much lower price for what I was regularly paying to get my oil changed. Overall, my experience at Japan Auto Parts & Service has been incredible! The staff were not only friendly but also honest and knowledgeable, and provided a very fair and reasonable price for their services. Originally, I thought they only do Japanese branded cars (as per the name of the shop) but they do all makes and models. They also do pretty much everything except for body work. I highly recommend Japan Auto Parts & Service for all your car's needs!

Stumbled upon one of the most honest and straight forward auto service shops in the GTA. Bruce Wulfsohn knows how to do business and understands customer service. His entire team is cordial and eager to help. I had to replace a cracked transmission housing and damaged 6th gear on my Acura TSX (6sp manual). They tried to find a used one with low KM’s but everything was way too high (250K +) and they didn’t feel comfortable selling me one they couldn’t stand by. They picked up the transmission from my mechanic, tore it down and called out the issues in their speedy diagnostics. They found me a used housing which saved $250 and said the transmission was in good shape except for the 6th gear which lost its hardening. They could have sold me a full rebuild but Bruce was honest in what needed to be replaced to make him feel confident that he would return a reliable transmission back to me. He didn’t try to sell me on anything I didn’t need, even though he could have easily done so. I must have had over 20 calls with Bruce and his team over the entire process and each and every time they were positive and ready to help answer my questions. Never once did I get the feeling that they were annoyed of me (apologies if you were guys). Don’t feel shy to ask these guys questions, get into the shop and meet them in person and ask them to physically show you the issues and they will explain it in simple terms. Take a minute to read these reviews. Rest assured that you are in good hands with the staff at Japan Auto Parts and Service. You get what you pay for in the end and they delivered value on every dollar spent. These guys are the real deal, you won’t regret it.

Came here for a major engine failure problem. On my first day in I was warmly greeted by everyone and shown around the shop. Craig was more than helpful and Ken was the kindest lifeline to the entire operation. On top of getting the engine fixed, I recieved complimentary discounts and services done that I was not charged for. Everyone is extremely knowledgeable and helpful to whatever you need done. I left without any complaints and everything was like new, but my luck struck out a few days later as my starter clip broke on an unrelated note. I brought it back in and to my amazement, it was replaced free of charge. These guys will have my family and I's business until cars become obsolete. I took my Infiniti FX 35 to Japan Auto Parts for service. My concern was that another garage told me that I needed a new engine. Bruce did the analysis and leg work to discover all issues with my car. Bruce did not suggest a price for service up front. He checked out the cart and reported all issues. The transmission on my wife's trusty 17-year old Honda CR-V decided to self destruct without warning. My expression was that the transmisson "turned to soup": there transmission oil all over the pavement, the rear drivesahft was broken, and to top it off, there was a hole in the side of the transmission (which was found after disassembly). Since the rest of the car was in top shape (and because we love the car), we wanted to repair the transmission, rather than scrapping the car. After consulting with my everyday mechanic, I took his advice and had the car taken to Japan Auto Parts for repairs. Not only do they do normal mechanical repairs, they specialize in rebuilding transmissions - which they ship to other shops across the country. Nice operation. Since my transmission had a hole in it, a simple rebuild was out of the question. After discussing the various options with Bruce and Frank, I decided to purchase a used JDM transmission (a low-mileage transmission imported from Japan), and a new rear driveshaft sourced by Japan Auto Parts. They completed the repairs very quickly, and for a very reasonable price. The car drives perfectly now. As an engineer who knows a thing or three about mechanical repairs and mechanics (back in the day, I rebuilt my '74 Norton 850 Commando from the ground up), I highly recommend them for expertise, quality of service, integrity and value.

I had a really good experience at Japan Auto Parts/Transmission Depot. They provided a great customer experience and in a timely manner. They were very helpful and informative with regards to the vehicles problem and the appropriate solution. Also out of all the places I contacted they were the only ones that provided me with the rebuild option, and with prices comparable to putting in used parts. On top of all of that when I went to go pick up my vehicle I was delayed by GTA PanAm traffic, I called to let them know and they stayed open late for me. I would definitely use their service again and would recommend them to anyone I know.

My starter motor decided to call it day. I discovered this early on Monday morning. I had my car towed up to Japan Auto Parts and Bruce and his staff had me booked in straight away. They were friendly and helpful from the time I arrived. Something that really stood out was they ordered a part that we thought I needed but when they opened up the car they saw that the part in my car was still good so they sent the replacement back. They could have very easily have replaced the part and I would have been non the wiser. I really appreciate this. Thanks for helping me out and getting my car moving again.

Unfortunately they used the wrong oil in my car and when I let them know about it they weren't willing to make it right. My Kia soul 2014 had a mysterious engine problem even the dealer could not find and suggested that I might need a new motor at a cost of 5g, contacted many reputed car engine dealers to see whether i could get the problem solved for a reasonable price, but regret their response was not something different from the dealer so finally contacted japan Auto parts and spoke to Ken who was super+ helpful when I explained my situation and said that he could fix the problem and bring the vehicle over to them for a vehicle diagnose and fix my car in less than 3 days for a fraction of what dealers suggestion for newer engine and i am glad i am still using the same old engine runs like the same way i drove when i bought it brand new 4 years back and i highly recommend this place to everyone and i am glad i found them. Called Bruce this morning looking for some work done on my 99 subaru legacy b4 twin turbo. I was looking for work on the vac lines and getting some things removed and set back to factory. Bruce was very honest and helpful to me saying this work should be done by a subaru specialist as the ej208 engine can be very difficult to set up. He suggested me to a specialist shop that builds boxer engines at race specs. 10/10 would bring my car to Japan auto parts and service for anything else I need done!

We live in British Columbia and drive an unusual vehicle, a 1994 Toyota Hiace camperized van. When it overheated as we were headed home from Oakville, we had it towed to the Toyota dealership in Oakville who diagnosed the problem as a blown head gasket and possible cracked head, likely needing a new engine and, by the way, we won't do it. It took some looking, but when I called, Bruce immediately said, "I know this vehicle and we can help, but we're busy and it might take a few days to get to it". When he did, they discovered a broken hose and no problems with the head gasket or engine itself. Bruce was in regular contact with me, pointed out some other work that should be done and I was glad to let them do it. Bruce gave me the approximate costs in advance, gave me options, and didn't pressure me to spend money I didn't need to. I probably saved $3000 or more. Great to deal with someone with integrity. This is how the auto repair business should work!

Had a very positive experience at Japan Auto. The vehicle was pretty much undriveable before I brought it in and had to do a rebuild of the cylinder, the technicians quickly found the issue as cylinder four was not producing adequate compression, from there I received a phone call immediately discussing options and an estimate. The job was done rather quickly considering the amount of work that was done on the vehicle. I'm very glad I took my vehicle to Japan Auto and had a very pleasant experience with the people working there. I strongly recommend this place to others and considering I am in a car crew I will be forwarding info about the shop to others who need work done on their vehicle. Good job guys!

I've been looking all over the city for a fair and honest car service provider and I can attest that Japan Auto Parts & Service is the place. After having been to two other auto shops in the City of Toronto that both had relatively great reviews online, I was originally skeptical about this company's exceptionally-high rating on Google; I read a couple comments and was not completely convinced. After visiting the location three times for different services and repairs, I can honestly say that it has been the best experience that I've had at an auto-shop. First of all, it is evident that this company is very well-managed. Though I was not personally advised by the Owner -- Bruce -- it is very clear that he is wholeheartedly dedicated to this company and its employees and customers. I specifically mention 'employees' because based on my observations having waited for my vehicle in the office, the dynamic among staff members, whether it be Bruce the Owner himself or a Technician who works in the shop, is full of mutual respect and efficient. Bruce and the staff members conduct themselves in a very professional and friendly manner. Unlike other shops where you may feel distance between the shop and the customer, the staff members at this shop operate in a very transparent and open manner, thus making the customer very comfortable. Secondly, my Service Advisor, Ken, was extraordinarily professional, efficient, and helpful. He was able to accommodate servicing/repairing my vehicle in a very tight schedule (in less than a week). The Technician who worked on my vehicle, Rob, was also very professional in handling my vehicle. Rob provided honest servicing advice that was consistent with what a family friend/mechanic who also took a look at the issue (suspension-related). This reassured me that this shop was not one of those that would recommend unnecessary repairs to make money. Ken followed up on every issue that I brought up (and there were many) and provided helpful information, such as where it may be cheaper to purchase certain parts online. When I noticed a minor installation imperfection (lighting-related) on a Friday afternoon, I was very surprised that Ken was able to have my issue resolved to perfection and satisfaction when I arrived 30 minutes before closing time on the Friday. Based on my extensive experience with this company, I would definitely recommend anyone who is looking for a professional, honest, reasonable, and friendly auto-shop in the Toronto area to pay this place a visit, they will provide very honest advice that other auto-shops may not as I personally witnessed. I have not seen any of their staff members demonstrate any signs of pressuring any customer into purchasing something from them or using their services, which is very rare in this industry. I will definitely return to this place for my regular maintenance from now on, as well as for any repairs that may become necessary for a 7-year-old Toyota car.

The transmission in my Acura was slipping and I was referred to JAP by my mechanic who assured me that this is the best place for transmission repairs. From the beginning, it was obvious that Bruce was not only very knowledgeable technically, but he was also easy to deal with and took as much time as needed to explain everything in detail. He was also very patient in handling the warranty claim side of things which which sometimes took longer than expected. Winter is a comin'! Fine time for my blower motor to die, right? I'm a young woman and my typical experience with auto service is to get ripped off (or at least they try). When I called Japan Auto to inquire about a part, Frank asked me what I was trying to fix. When I explained the problem he suggested I come in for a free analysis to make sure I wasn't unnecessarily buying parts. I thought, "yeah right", hung up and continued with my plan to locate and buy a blower motor resistor, ignoring his advice that it could be a wiring issue. A week later, new resistor in place and still no heat, I sheepishly called him back asking, "Remember me? You promised a free analysis?" He promptly recalled and told me to come in. I did and in 20 minutes, while he gave me a tour of the facility, he had someone look at the car, test that all individual components were working (blower motor, resistor, fuses), then had the mechanic supply a grounding wire to the system and it started working. As Frank had predicted, my problem was, in fact, a wiring issue. He said it would take about 2 hours at $90/hr for his electrical technician to isolate the problem wire. True to his word, he didn't charge me a penny for the analysis and I drove out knowing exactly what was wrong with my car. I will definitely be back next week to have Frank and his team fix my heating system!

These guys are the best and most honest mechanic shop I've been to. They do not overcharge or do unnecessary work, only what's needed. Unfortunately I couldn't take my car to get serviced at this location, but a mechanic near my house purchased a motor from them. Customer service is excellent. Staff is friendly and always looks out for your best interest. Would recommend to anyone.

Totally would recommend this place to anyone. I'm coming from Brampton, so it's a bit of a jog, but they came highly recommended, so I went. I ended up saving almost $1K (30% cheaper) for a rebuild transmission on my car. However, when I went to pick my car up, I was surprised to find grease on my seat, consul and steering wheel. What impressed me though was when I talked to Bruce about it, he apologized and offered to cover the cost of getting my car's interior shampooed and cleaned up for free. These guys do everything they can to get it right. Excellent service.

Needed some hard-to-find parts for my 28 year old Mazda truck. My usual mechanic was at a loss so I called up Japan Auto. I’m sure glad I did. The folks here are honest, straightforward, helpful, and—unlike many mechanics—seem to really give a damn about you and your car. In the end, Bruce made sure I got the right parts in a timely manner and didn’t bust the bank too badly. These guys are very busy and I can certainly see why. I made a mistake of setting huge expectations after checking their Google reviews. They seemed to be the experts and specialists, and sounded the same over the phone while booking the appointment for a AC Leak on my car. On the set day, got a small tour of their premises and was very hopeful that I was at the right place for all current and future repairs and maintenance. But it all went downhill from there. The AC tech appeared to be hardly knowledgeable about what he was talking about, the leak diagnosis was just a old school pressure test which confirmed a leak in the system (had told them before the diagnosis that there is a leak as refrigerant was filled just 10 days back by another so called specialist). I was expecting a thorough diagnosis with a vacuum test and finally a dye or something to find out the leak. But the AC tech himself didn’t sound sure enough on what and how to proceed. Furthermore, enquired them about getting a DSG transmission serviced on a VW, and the service advisor recommended some local lubricant and was not at all aware of the care a DSG needs while servicing. Finally paid the hefty diagnosis fee for nothing but hooking up a old school cylinder to do a pressure test. Sorely disappointed and learned my lesson not to trust those shining paid google reviews. EDIT: 7th Aug. 2020 Reply to the Owner: The rear lines being "disconnected" was not a discovery your highly experienced tech made, and I came to your workshop after being duped by another highly reviewed place who chose to fill up the refrigerant despite mentioning that there is a leakage somewhere in the system (it was all thoroughly explained to your knowledgeable staff before the diagnosis). I fail to understand what you find "interesting" in this. The review will be up for this other business as well, very soon. People rely on businesses like yours trusting the google reviews, but end up being disappointed & cheated. I expected a professional reply from you, but you end up being hurt for the paid reviews comment and nothing about the lack of knowledge, experience & process with your staff and system. I wish you good luck and I am sure one bad review won't affect your business when your record is full of all 5-star "true, honest & unpaid" reviews :)

During the awfully icy winter, I misjudged the clearance between my Lexus and another parked car on the block next to our apartment building. The result was that I needed a replacement door mirror. Bruce at Japan Auto Parts not only sourced one for me, used (a new one was going to be over $1,000!), but delivered it to the body shop for painting and fitting. Only problem was, by the time we got around to fitting it, we were out of the 90-day warranty on used parts, and the motor didn't work. Bummer, big time. But Bruce came to the rescue. One of his staff was able to take off the cowl from the new mirror, and reassemble it around the old one (the one with the working motor!) Excellent result. Bruce is amazing and creative. He's a real problem solver, and the advantage is that, for his clients, that usually ends up saving them a great deal of money. He's not in business to make money and rip off his clients, rather, he wants to make his clients happy and he behaves like a true gentleman. Excellent service, a real professional. Can thoroughly recommend JAP.

I never thought such company existed such as Japan Auto parts. The customer service, honesty and professionalism is beyond my expectations. I brought my Subaru Impreza 2014 with a transmission issue (no engine light) and scanned the car to figure out the problem...there were 16 history codes and they were very honest about my options. Long story short, Bruce the owner went out of his way to investigate with the Subaru dealer and found out that there was an extended warranty of 10 years or 160000kms on transmission. They could have easily not say anything and charge me a big load of money. Their honesty, friendliness and knowledge is amazing....I am just so so satisfied with this place that I have adopted them and recommend them highly. If you want to have peace of mind go there...those places are hard to find.

I recently needed a power window motor for my 1990 Nissan 300ZX. Ken managed to outsource one for me from one of their distributors. When the motor was installed there was a problem when the window was lowered. Ken said to return it and he would get me another one. When he returned the motor to his distributor he said it wasn't the same one that he sent to Japan Auto Parts. After speaking with Ken he said he would get me another one. A short time later they located another motor from a different distributor and went and picked it up personally for me. The new motor was installed and works like new. I've been a DIY mechanic for close to 30 years, but there are some jobs you need a pro for and that's exactly what I received from top to bottom. I took my Lexus to them for it's 150k maintenance, timing belt, spark plugs and various other items needed. They seemed to care as much as I do about my car and it running well for the next 10 years as I did, and that's what I appreciated the most. Recently my timing belt snapped causing considerable damage. I had no choice but to replace my existing motor. I priced out the job et al at a local shop and found the price to be unreasonable. I contacted Japan Auto Parts and spoke with Ken. We had my car towed to their shop and they quickly put in another engine and replaced various parts for one low cost . I retreived my car and took it home, The car seriously underperformed and I immediately called JAP , They provided a means of transportation home for me. Ken and Bruce found that the motor had sustained damage during my drive home. They put another motor in the car and once again replaced the necessary parts. Im very torn about this review. From bruce to ken, as well as criag are all nice guys and made me feel welcome. Why three stars? I had brought my infiniti g35x in to check out a noise i thought was the engine. Engine was fine but my daytime running lights wern't working. Turned out i i needed a DRL moduel. They quoted me $312 for the part, and told me it had to be purchased from the dealer as there was no aftermarket. So i paid, went home and decdeci out of curiosity to look up the part. Ebay had oem drl moduels for $60. So i when i had gone the next day, i isked too see the part out of curiosity to make sure it was the same part i had seen on ebay for $60. Unfortunately it was, and i had felt like i had been ripped off. Its a shame because i was hoping to be a regular, but after this i don't think i will be comming back.

Recently had transmission troubles on my 2009 Lancer Ralliart(TC-SST), Mitsubishi dealership was giving me the only option of getting a new transmission, I took it to Japan Auto Parts and they were able to rebuild my TC-SST transmission with no problems!(including a warranty!) In the last month I have taken my 2005 WRX to Japan Auto Parts twice. The first time was because my rack and pinion was leaking causing my power steering to fail. It was also time to replace my rear suspension. I got my car back quickly, and it was half the price that the dealership quoted me. Unfortunately a week after I got my car back someone backed into me causing damage to the left front fender and my driver side door. Once again my car was fixed perfectly. All of the new parts were assembled just as if the car had come straight from the factory. No large gaps or inconsistencies. The paint was matched perfectly to the car, and it was returned to me a day early. I am impressed by how much everyone at Japan Auto knows about my car. I had my "prized baby"..a 2001 Mazda Miata brought in to rectify a Rear Differential issue which was originally and Not professionally done by a so-called reputable auto body shop (CarStar). Long story short...Ken & Bruce took my baby in and the issue was resolved within the specified time and more-so it was professionally done even endorsed by my buddy who is a Transmission Specialist for over 20 years. Further, a transmission clutch was first identified by Ken who initially advised that I may need a new one, turned out that only a replaced Slave Cylinder was only needed saving my hundreds of $ in costs. We had a wonderful experience with Japan Auto Parts recently! My family and I own a vintage Toyota vehicle. Two weeks ago, we had a serious mechanical failure occur with it. My car stayed 24hrs at Altra Infinity they gave me the keys twice after 1km of driving the car it would start over heating again so i took it to another mechanic and he said i needed a new engine. I called Japan Auto Parts and Services asking for a quote on an engine for my fx35 2003 awd infinity. Mario asked me why do i think i need an engine and told him that a mechanic told me that my head gasket was gone so i needed a new engine, and advised me to use stop lick for the time being but i never did. Instead of selling me a new engine, He diagnosed the problem my car had and flushed out the cooling system and put fresh coolant and bleed it properly, and that was the only problem the car had all along, it was air pockets in the cooling system. Awesome. They installed a low mileage motor in my 03 Accord, but I noticed right away that it used excessive oil. I live two hours away. I gave it some time but the problem persisted. Recently had our 2007 Mazda CX9 suffer a head gasket failure. As the forums confirm a common problem with these Ford sourced 3.7L Duratec engines with higher KM. Never having to content with a major powertrain failure here in the GTA I was at a loss as to locating a reliable and trustworthy Japanese specialist. Thankfully I received a referral to Japan Auto Parts via my regular go to mechanic as its the place he sends all his transmission and major engine work too. Connected with Frank G and we walked through a solution. My research confirmed these 3.7L are not worth rebuilding, basically disposable, but the remainder of the vehicle is in excellent shape. Frank sourced a low KM engine at a competitive price and within a week the guys had the engine re and re'd and vehicle back up and running like a top. Extremely satisfied with the expertise, courteous service, professionalism and detailed invoicing. Recently, I had engine troubles on my 2006 Acura TL. The dealership told me that I would need to get a new engine. I took it to another mechanic and I got the same answer but this time a rebuilt engine. I was still not convinced that I needed a new engine. I took it to Japan Auto Parts and they were able accurately diagnose the main problem which was the timing belt and the water pump. Much cheaper than a new engine right?! Car runs like new. Here’s why: My engine light went on. There was a major loss of power and acceleration was rough. My auto dealer claimed that there was an internal leak which resulted in engine oil being contaminated with coolant and necessitating replacement of the engine. Not convinced with a multi-thousand-dollar quote and a sledge hammer approach to repair, I needed a second opinion. I called Ken at Japan Auto Parts as was recommended by a friend. We had an informal yet productive chat. Ken was very personable and I decided to take my car to Japan Auto Parts. Ken introduced Mario, the service manager. Mario gave a tour of the facility that left me impressed with the seriousness of the operation. I meet Bruce too who is the owner. I was convinced this is the place to have my car fixed. Mario and I discussed the engine issues as well as possible outcomes which included potentially replacing the engine. The approach was not to provide estimates upfront when dealing with unknowns. This reflects a philosophy at Japan Auto Parts which is not to mislead. Mario is rational in his thinking. We agreed to proceed in steps and making decisions along the way. I Ieft the car with Mario. Mario provided guidance along every step via phone and email. He even sent photos to help with explanations! This level of cooperation allowed me to make the right decision at every important junction and it included a critical decision to remove the engine from the car in order to facilitate further inspection. Repairs wound up being very targeted. There was no contamination and the engine did not need to be replaced. The water pump was found leaking and had significant slop which affected the timing belt causing power loss. It was replaced with a new original manufacturer part. The final cost was one third of the auto dealer minimum estimate with major work completed within three business days. Now that is great service and value. I've known Bruce from Japan Auto Parts since the day I bought a rebuilt engine for my 1989 Toyota Supra. He is the most honest and helpful person I've ever had the pleasure of knowing and here's why: My father has helped me maintain this Supra since the day I bought it. Near the end of May, he wanted me to have the transmission serviced since he regularly checked its oil and noticed that it smelled a bit burned. The biggest fear when driving a car this old is that you'll have to spend a lot of money to fix major problems since some of the parts have been working continuously since 1989, when the car was new. Many of the local repair shops we trust didn't want to get into taking apart the transmission on a 1989 Toyota - who could blame them? Our transmission's internals might not have seen the light of day for almost 28 years. Fearing the worst (that I'd have to replace the transmission), I called Bruce at Japan Auto Parts and explained the situation. Not only did Bruce remember who I was after these many years, he carefully explained what should be done to check the transmission and offered to help. He and his mechanics knew the Toyota Supra very well and have serviced many of them over the years, so the car was brought to Toronto (an over 100 km drive) so it could be serviced. Bruce called the next day and said that the transmission was fine. His technician couldn't find anything majorly wrong, but did confirm that the original oil smelled a bit burned, so it was replaced after a complete inspection. When I asked him how much I owed him, he said a number and I didn't believe him. The price was so reasonable that I asked him how much it would be to repair the air conditioning (something that hasn't been working for the past few summers) and the amount he quoted me was one-third what other shops around here wanted for the same system retrofit. I agreed to have the air conditioning system repaired and picked up my car just a few days ago in Toronto. Fixing the air conditioning was a gift to my father since he sometimes drives the Supra in the summer after working on, or meticulously detailing it. Bruce saw to it that it was fixed and also lent a hand in surprising my father when we arrived.He didn't have to, but he did - right in the middle of his lunch (traffic to Toronto made the trip a bit longer than expected). The final bill matched the original quote and I couldn't be happier with the service my car received at Japan Auto Parts. I wish I lived closer so I could my oil changes done while having what I'm sure would be very insightful conversations with Bruce and his staff. If you're looking for a warm and welcoming place where your ancient Japanese car is treated like royalty, and worked on by mechanics who have seen it all, this is where you want to bring your car!

After taking my car into a dealer to change the tires and being told that I would need to change my engine ($6-7k quote), I talked to Japan Auto Parts and they told me to bring the car in to do an assessment. My Toyota Sienna has 188000km and is in good condition otherwise and I wasn't ready to part with it. I was greeted by a very friendly team of knowledgeable specialists who promptly examined the car and determined that it probably was not as grave a problem as was initially presented to us. They are doing further assessments to determine where the oil is leaking. I highly recommend this place. They have a very large and clean shop and are extremely professional!!

My car had a rad and thermostat replaced at Canadian Tire Heartland. They messed the install up and had my car for 4 days. My usual repair shop tried to fix the mistake but said my head gasket is probably blown and I'll have to get a new engine or scrap the car. I called Bruce to buy a new engine but he wouldn't sell it to me. He said I probably just had another bad install. He was right. They installed a factory thermostat and properly bled the air out of the rad that the other shops couldn't. My car runs great and Bruce saved me thousands of dollars! Honest good mechanics are hard to find and Bruce and his team are welcome find.

I went because my dealership said I needed a bottom end on my engine. I didn't need an appointment and just arrived. I was expecting to need an engine for my 2006 Corolla with 254000 kms on it. Ken greeted me with a smile and then I went on a test drive and then the car was taken in immediately for checking on the hoist. I was told it would take about an hour and it would cost 1 hr labour. After about 20 mins I was told that the engine was fine . I was expecting to at least pay for the time but was told there was no charge!!! I don't remember the last time I have been treated this nice and other customers mentioned this to me as well. I have been living in Canada from past 15 years and tried many mechanic shops. I have found the best now Bruce is the man you need to get in contact. I was surfing on the net to find a good deal for my Honda Odessey engine after I was told by three different mechanics. They quoted me between 3000 to 4000. I was very upset as I bought the car six months back. One evening I called Japan Auto to get a quote on an engine and luckily it was Bruce who answered the call. He calmly listed to my problem and told me right away that it doesn't sound that I need an engine. He assured me that he will first diagnosis the car and if it needs an engine replacement he will not charge me for the diagnosis, and if there is any other problem then he will charge for the diagnosis and I will have the final say in order to fix the car. After couple of hours he came up to me and gave me a good news saying that my car doesn't need an engine and rather it was the Tensioner belt that needs to be replaced which costed only 200 for parts. He also assured me that he will do the complete check of the car for no extra cost which was part of a good customer service. It costed me only 1000 to get my car fixed when I was thinking of about 4000. And the final bill he also gave some discount as I got a gasket and spark plugs replaced. I have never came across such an honest mechanic in my 15 years of stay in Canada. People try to rip you off but Bruce professionalism and experience saved me a lot of money Not to forget his team of mechanics are par excellent. I would definitely recommend you all to get in touch with Bruce for any mechanical job. Don't go by the name Japan Auto he fixes all cars and models. Thank you Bruce cheers.

I had a couple of issues around the exhaust system. In both cases, things were more complicated than I understood. In both cases Ronnie and Bruce took me into the shop and showed me the situation and why a specific part was required. In both cases the part was ordered and I was notified and the job was done promptly. When the final part was installed, and I started the car to drive away, I though the engine had not "caught", and I turned the key again, only to hear the rasping noise of turning on the ignition with the car already running. i.e., I had gotten so used to the engine noise that I did not recognize the quiet sound of a solid exhaust system! i was driving down airport rd. from wasaga beach. i shifted into third to pass another car and the engine rev up high but the car was not accelerating. my third gear was toast, i had no third gear. took it to japan auto to get the expert to diagnose the problem and to get a resolution. Greg, Dave and Dan went through my options with me and worked through my budget. i ended up rebuilding the tranny, and replacing the clutch kit at the same time. why pay twice and doing it twice? the tranny is out and everything was apart... its cheaper in the long run - if you are planning on keeping the vehicle. it took 4 days to get the parts - waiting for the parts took the longest. they setup me up with a new dodge charger to boot for $35/day and they cover the first 2 days. they went through the whole build process with me and shown me everything that is involve. i got the car back on the road, and the car is faster than before. my 2nd and 4th gear used to grind all the time but now it doesn't. the shift quality has improved. i just cant thank the boys enough for their hard work and dedication.

I own a BMW X5 and had gone to my usual mechanic to have a rear differential replaced, after 4 weeks of my car still up on the hoist I called Japan Auto for advice. I highly recommend this company for your automotive needs. Our 2008 Lexus ES350 developed a slow anti-freeze leak at 123K. The local dealer did a visual inspection and indicated the car had a blown head gasket. They provided a rough estimate for repairs but said the cost could go up depending on what they found. They offered no option to replace the engine with a used one. So I decided to look for another shop to get a second opinion. After speaking to Bruce, the owner of Japan Auto Parts and Service I brought the car to his facility. Bruce’s team pressure tested the coolant system and confirmed a head gasket was leaking. Bruce then provided a cost to repair the engine (which was less than the dealer) and an option to replace the engine with a used engine that had 73K on it. Even though the cost was more, we decided to go with the engine swap as it seemed less risky and came with a 6 month warranty. The swap was completed after a few days and the car is as good as new. We are very happy with the result and our decision to use Japan Auto Service and Parts. Bruce and Mario the service manager were great to deal with. They were open and honest and the service provided was excellent. I have since been back to have a timing belt and water pump replaced on my other car.

I first started bringing in my two vehicles for basic oil changes and routine maintenance once my manufacturer's warranty expired. I have always taken my cars to the dealer garage as I was concerned about getting scammed or getting substandard work from private garages. I have a 2001 Honda prelude with 55,000 (never winter driven) after sitting most of the winter and the weather got nice I tried starting the car and there were obvious issues as the car didn't start. Now the car is off to a local shop and after spending some diagnostic money I was told I needed a new engine. Back to the drawing board, I do some research and find japan auto parts got on the phone and spoke to Bruce the owner of J.P.A (yes the owner) rare to even speak with one! When I asked him for the price of replacing my engine he asked "well how do you know you need to replace the engine" I then knew I was already in good hands, with the customer service and professionalism I was receiving. My car was now being towed to Bruce's for his diagnosis I also authorized to replace the engine if in fact in needed replacing. To my surprise I get a phone call saying I had a perfectly good shape engine and my bill would now only be a fraction on the cost of a replacement engine. Bruce kept my car while driving it for a day to ensure no problems would occur and all problems were addressed An honest, professional shop is what that is,everyone can pick their shop..I have mine! These are the go to guys for all your automobile needs. I had an engine installed in my new generation civic in August 2013 after another shop left my radiator cap off and my engine overheated and was compromised(a completely different story). From day one I could not have received better service. It all started about 2-1/2 years ago when I purchased a re-manufactured engine for my 240SX. Bruce was more than helpful. When the engine arrived and I checked it out, it was found that some assembly of the engine was not right. Japan Auto Parts did not hesitate on getting me a replacement engine, they did not even consider fixing the engine. In fact they ordered the second engine directly from Japan and during the time I had to wait for that engine, which only took a couple of weeks, I could hold onto the first engine returning it only after the second engine came and was acceptable with no questions asked. As the engine was not being installed in the vehicle for at least a year due to body work being done on the vehicle, Japan Auto Parts stood behind the 2nd engine, even though it was kept in storage, and Japan Auto Parts stated that if something was not right, they assured me it would be taken care of and corrected. Unfortunately, something did not function properly in the 2nd engine when it was started. Japan Auto Parts stood behind their word and corrected the problem by sending a replacement assembly for the defective assembly. Installing the replacement assembly, and running the engine, it ran like new. I cannot thank Bruce, at Japan Auto Parts, enough for standing behind his products, his business, his reputation and treating me as if he knew me as a friend even though we have never met in person. Japan Auto Parts was considerate, patient, professional, and a business that you can trust. As the need arises I would do business with them again. My pleasure vehicle is now on the road and I am enjoying it. It was a true labour of love and I am so glad that Japan Auto Parts was part of it. Thank you Bruce and Japan Auto Parts. After bring my 2003 xterra with 270k to two name brand garages on/near dufferin i was told by both shops that my truck needed a new engine. To be very honest the truck did feel like it sound and smell (smoke) like it was about to die. Anywhere from 3-6000$, 30 day and 1 year on replacement motor. WOW! A neighbour told me about this garage and i still believed the truck have some life left in her. I dropped of my truck with Bruce after he reassured me that his tests would determine if engine was died.Well its been over a mouth and over almost 1000 kms! I could see under the hood many new parts and wires so i know they did something to save my truck from that scrape yard. I found myself and family a new mechanic shop that i know i can trust. Thanks to all the people at this shop. Try this place out, sooner is better then later when it comes to our cars.

I've been going to Japan Auto Parts ever since they did very small repair jobs for me -- twice -- in exchange for a dozen doughnuts each time, no cash. Since then the jobs have gotten bigger... I have a 2004 g35x and it's in beautiful shape, but when they get over 250k km's you expect some things to go. So Japan has been my go-to for jobs like suspension, brakes... had the universal joint replaced as well, and have been satisfied every time. They work a little slower than the same-day service you might expect from the super high end places, but if you can go without your car for an extra day or two, the money you'll save and the honest service you'll get will be worth it. What prompted me to finally post a review is the way they handled my most recent repair. After doing some suspension work I noticed a clicking sound when I lightly applied the brakes, after I got the car back. To be honest I don't know if the sound was there or not before they did the work, it's the type of sound you can tune out pretty easily. But I noticed it more and more and finally called, told them about the sound, and mentioned the timing was around when I'd last had the car in. From that point on they went above and beyond to try and find the source of that sound. Never made me feel like I was an inconvenience, and never charged me a cent for any of the time it took to diagnose and then fix the mystery sound. The owner, Bruce, even went so far as to book a rental car for me at the Enterprise near there, so I could still do a planned getaway with my fiancée. The rental car rate through Bruce was very reasonable and my experience with that Enterprise Car Rentals was excellent too. In short, Japan Auto has helped me keep my nice old car on the road by only doing work that needs to be done, at a reasonable price. I highly recommend them.

JAP did an engine replacement for me in July 2012 on my 2005 Toyota Sienna. Excellent work. Van is smooth as silk. Had work reviewed by my regular mechanic (a life long friend) says work was excellent and unlike many others, work was neatly done. Over-all great craftsmanship. Don't see that much these days. Recently trans was noisey, making a whirling noise like hydraulic fluid of a power steering when oil is low. JAP found some external damage just in time, did the service, all is good again. Reasonable price, excellent service. Highly recommend you give them a call.

When the TC-SST transmission on my Ralliart went my Mitsu service manager referred me to JAP, and boy am I glad he did. They gave me a tour of the shop and showed me some of the other jobs on the go. Never a doubt my car was in good hands. Parts for this aren't exactly common, but somehow they found them on the other side of the planet and had it rebuilt in a few weeks. Expectations were set and they stuck by their word, a very professional crew. Thank you guys, you turned a nightmare into nothing more than an inconvenience.
