Took my impreza here for oil change before I left for the weekend road trip. Drove away after service and was on the road when I was startled to see my oil light on. Pulled into a station to find my oil cap sitting on the battery, oil everywhere in the engine compartment. You had one job! Never coming back.

My family and I have been bringing our vehicles to Strong Automotive for over 20 years. Without exception, they have been courteous and prompt at every turn. I have come to expect an incredibly high level of quality and consistency in their repairs, but most importantly, I have come to trust their standards and pricing without question. No one really enjoys paying for auto repairs, but its a good feeling when you trust that you're getting high-quality results for an honest and fair price.

My car produced noise and I sent it to Strong Automotive to check and repair. They rebuilt the steer gear and charged me $1100. When I took the car and still in their parking lot, I found it still has noise, quite loud. I stopped the car and asked them. The guy told me he noticed that and he did not know what was that; it could be due to the car sitting there for a few days. That was not true. I left the car with them for about 30 hours. How could the time cause a car to produce noise. I came here due to the noise, but the car still has noise and I don't know the cause. It is ridiculous that I drove in to check noise and drove a car away from a garage still with noise and the reason was not found. I was very disappointed.

My friend and I brought a car in with a nail in her tire looking to get it plugged. These guys told us the tire was unrepairable and that we'd have to buy a new tire worth $300 to $400. We left and got a second opinion, they pulled out the nail (which hadn't even punctured the tire) and the tire was fine didn't even need a plug. They thought they could scam us into buying something we didn't even need just because we were 2 females who they assumed didn't know enough to get a second opinion. If you're female and going alone do NOT trust these guys. If I could give 0 stars I would.

I would highly recommend Strong Automotive. I have finally found a mechanic who is honest, helpful and knowledgeable. I had a car problem yesterday which required immediate attention. The staff at Strong Automotive quickly assessed the problem, provided a solution, estimated time and cost, and arranged a rental vehicle for me. They took the stress out of a stressful situation. Strong Automotive - the best automotive/service repair shop in North York, and probably Toronto. I can't believe I am going to say this, but the experience of brining my car in was actually pleasurable. Minimal wait time, VERY honest, with no "additional" and un-needed work or surprises when I went to pick up my car. If you go anywhere else, sadly that is not the case. In my experience, other automotive/service repair shops I have been to, they push for unnecessary work to be done just to get the quick sale, but lose trust and the customer in the process. This is the exact opposite with Strong Automotive car repair shop. They did what was NEEDED, kept me informed, and did not over charge for any "surprise problems". They checked what I asked them to, repaired what needed to be repaired, and that was that.

Saved me $2,000+ over what dealer quoted. My Subaru Forester was leaking steering fluid and the Subaru Dealer on Steeles had quoted us $2,200 to replace the whole steering rack, plus $149 for an alignment, plus taxes. Took the car to Strong Automotive for a second opinion and they found it was only a hose leaking, an $80 part. Had Strong do the work and the total bill with taxes was $234, so over 1/10 less than the dealer. Will definitely have all future services done at Strong, there is a reason they are still around after 20 years, they do honest work.

Louie just cleaned up the brakes instead and only charged for the oil change - saving us $250. We're very pleased with their service and would recommend them to anyone!

I went back in for a quote and the were well over priced compared to the other 6 shops I called. They were the most expensive and some of the other shots I called were further away but are much more reputable shops. Almost all 6 of the shops have higher scores on Google some as high as 4.8. So either this guy at strong Auto has no idea what he is doing or he is just good at strong arming his customers into paying ridiculous rates. I don't know if they are good mechanics but they sure as hell charge premium rates. Sorry but no thanks

They fixed my air suspension for my BMW X5. It works now!!!!! I spent a fraction of the cost to replace. Only took these guys 1 hour!!!!!!!! These guys are honest, and highly efficient. If I could give 10 stars, I would. 2021 Update: So BMW said my air suspensions were actually ruptured. So I had to replace them. O wells. I still give 5 stars to Strong Automotive though. They did everything I asked.

Best Service Ever! First time I went ask them to check my brakes , I was told they were still good and didn't need to change them. Anywhere else would have change them regardless and charged me. Second time dropped of my car because it was having over heating issue, he top off my coolant and check everything. I walked in and he said no charge. It made my day! I can't say you'll have the same experience but this place has very honest and good people.

Had a safety inspection done for car registration. Pretty straightforward but I have a difficult schedule and they make it easy with after hours drop off if needed. Main guy there (maybe he is the owner) seems really busy, but has time/patience to explain things. Safety inspection price was also slightly cheaper than most other places. Also no mechanic grease etc left behind in my car, which happened to me at other places. 10/10 will be back for future work.

I've started bringing my 2010 Ford Flex to Strong Automotive for maintenance in last year or so. Over the couple of visit, I find the experience great - prompt response, quality service, honest and clear communication and also good prices. What makes it a five star review is the attention to detail and customer service - little things like proactively inflating your tires without mention or a charge (the TPMS light was on). I'll be definitely returning.

Was driving home when out of nowhere what had turned out to be my heat shield had broke. Having to pull over as it was hanging and scraping the ground. I was debating wether to call a tow truck luckily this place was only 2 min from where I had pulled over and Im glad I chose to go there instead of pay a hefty tow truck bill. I was worried it would cost me an arm and leg to repair but it didnt cost much at all as they recommended just to remove it. Very quick honest service. I would definitely recommend this place.

If you are happy to spend double the price (vs. Canadian Tire) WITHOUT any warranty (not even for one day) and still NOT solving your car problem, this is the perfect place to go! They charged me $290 for checking and fixing ignition problem, the next day my car didn’t start again because they didn’t find the real problem, this costed me $180+ to rent a car for a weekend trip and $50 to jump start so that I could drive back to TELL THEM what the problem was. They did not admit their mistakes and insisted on charging another $200 to fix it, I argued for over 30 minutes and had to give up due to no other choice. Fortunately they didn’t have time to do more on my car at the price of doubling Canadian Tire’s! My car didn’t start for once on July 10, while this didn’t happen again in the following a few days, I had an out-of-town trip planned for July 18-19, so I went to Strong Automotive to ensure this doesn’t happen again during my trip. (See pic 1) On July 16 I paid $69+tax for checkup and asked if to make sure the ignition issue didn’t happen again what should I fix, they suggested one of the ignition coils needed to be replaced and the total price was near $300, I agreed. When picking up the car they said more ignition coils should be replaced at a much higher cost. - Bait and switch?! I thought it should have been all done after paying the $300, and they didn’t tell me I needed to spend more than double of that in addition until the $300 job was done. Since they were to close for that day and didn’t have time to do it, I asked if not doing so would stop the car from starting again, they said no. The checkup result - which I didn’t see until after paying - said weak battery, but they did not mention the battery needed to be replaced at all. (See pic 2) On July 17, one day after picking up the car from them, I wanted to refill the gas tank before travelling out of town, and found it didn’t start again. It’s Saturday and they were not open, since my hotel was already non-refundable by then, I had to spend $180+ to rent a car for the trip. (See pic 3) I called them upon return on July 20 morning about this, and finally got time to send the car to them on July 22 after spending another $50 to jump start. At that time I already knew the problem was with the battery, not ignition coils. I asked them to replace the battery for free because they didn’t find the real problem and it costed me $180+ for their mistake, they declined rudely and arrogantly, saying they would incur a loss if doing it for free, but I should cover my own loss of renting the car and jumping start due to their mistakes. Because not replacing the battery at them would mean I had to jump start the car again and drive to another garage (many of them need reservation in advance during the pandemic), I argued for 30 minutes and had to give up, paid another $200 for the battery change, they only agreed to waive the “labour cost”. I also asked for quotation of changing the other 3 ignition coils as they suggested, they quoted $145 each for parts and $220 for labour. (See pic 4) Obviously I can’t have trust in them any more and turned to Canadian Tire for quotation of changing ignition coils. CT quoted $88 each - vs. $145 each from them for parts, $120 for replacing one side (three) and $216 for replacing both sides (six) - vs. $220 for replacing only one side (three) from them for labour, and since it’s an old car CT people suggested me not to do it unless I plan to drive it for another 100K miles. Oh, and the “parts+labour” cost for replacing the battery from CT was lower than their “parts-only”. In short: I wasted $290 at this place for useless checkup and doing unnecessary stuff, and wasted $180+$50 because they didn’t do their job right, then had to spend another $200 because they didn’t admit their mistakes and knew I had no other choice, finally they still tried to overcharge me for something unnecessary again. Dishonest, incompetent and arrogant people, not admitting their own mistakes and not caring about anything other than their own profits.

Louie and his team are the main reason my 15-year old Mazda Protege5 is still on the road. This is generally a reliable car, and I'm always on top of routine maintenance (done by Strong), but as the car is aging, obviously there's more stuff that breaks. I have found Strong Automotive to always be highly professional and trustworthy. They point out parts that are close to failure, but never suggest unnecessary repairs. Their prices are reasonable and service has always been great with very convenient hours. What I really appreciate is that they will keep working with you on stubborn issues. My latest issue was a parking brake that wasn't working and in the end it took numerous caliper changes and cable replacements to get it fixed. The numerous changes were no fault of Strong Automotive, it was the parts that weren't holding up, but they kept at it and didn't charge me extra, even though it was only the part that was warrantied (not labour). It is now finally fixed and working perfectly. In the past they have replaced my struts and springs, various belts, control arms, brake pads and rotors, strut mounts, some exhaust parts and a water pump. That water pump was a concern, because I thought it could be the head gasket. A dishonest mechanic could have taken advantage and made it into a big repair job, but they quickly figured out that it was the water pump and got me on my way. It's amazing to have a good, honest mechanic right in our neighbourhood and I will continue to use them for years to come.

Terrible experience at this place. I took my 2018 car to get a Safety Standards Certificate and was told the rotors were rusted and had to be changed otherwise the certificate could not be issued. Needless to say I did not allow them to change the rotors but instead took the car and disassembled it over the weekend and thoroughly cleaned both rear rotors with brake cleaner and removed any sign of rust so I could take it back and get my certificate issued. I asked him if I brought it back with clean rotors I would get my certificate and the answer was yes. I took the car back and he refused to issue my certificate and proceeded to say the rust was on the inside and he had no time or space to look at my car. Needless to say, I had already been charged for the certificate. The funny thing is, I took my car to another certified MTO shop right after leaving Strong Automotive and was issued the Safety Standards Certificate with no issue!! Beware of this place, they will try to scam you especially if you are a woman (I just read other reviews claiming similar situations with women). I am a Mechanical Engineer and know what I am talking about, maybe the terminology I used is not perfect as English is not my first language but this place should be avoided. I will also be reporting them to the Better Business Bureau.

Superb and honest staff who love what they do. Excellent service for a fair price- in this line of work that itself provides a great deal, as in my example. First encounter was 25 years ago. My brother jump started my old truck incorrectly- smoke, then nothing or close to it. I towed it home like it was the 70s with twine around the bumper:) Another mechanic had a look. (a young guy to be fair, still a full time licenced pro) He poked around with test light and a few tools. Couldn't get solenoid to function, etc. Estimate: new solenoid, voltage regulator, bunch of wiring, etc. may have to split the harness. At least 500 bucks, maybe 1000. Sell it, not worth repairing. Decided to get a second opinion before acting and towed it to Strong Automotive. Louis (the mechanic and new owner) poked around with his test light. After a few minutes he told me it'll be working shortly. He cut wires on the firewall and messed around with a few things. He cut fresh wires off a spool then prepared and soldered them in a few places. 15 minutes beginning to end and it was good as old (boo). 25 bucks later I drove it away. He worked very efficiently and knew exactly what he was doing, so little time was taken troubleshooting and no trial and error repairs were attempted or necessary. Hence the low price. I move away. 20 years later I popped back in. Louis is still the owner, and still the lead mechanic. He continues to be because he loves it- He loves the process of troubleshooting and the feeling of getting things working again. You can see it when he works- watching Louis do a repair is like watching a hollywood portrayal of Jackson Pollock when he paints- It's very impressive. He also mandates an hour long shop clean up for all his staff at the finish of every day, and he fully participates in it. How many people stand by their principles when it costs them real money, or participate in unglorified tasks they're no longer required to do? Louis is a great tech and a really good guy. I highly recommend his shop.

Booked a Mazda in for AC not cooling, they checked the system and told me I needed a new compressor as there was enough gas and the fuses were okay, charged me $90. said that they would have to replace my compressor if I need the AC to work. Took my vehicle to another workshop, had the system checked and re-gassed, AC now works! Did not justify my $90. charged for checking, very unhappy.
