I have been with Essential Auto since they were at their original location (they moved far away just to avoid me, probably). Never had a problem with the dynamic duo so-and-so. One time another guy threw away a perfectly good cabin air filter and charged me for it, and now I remind them not to replace it every time. Otherwise, the service has been superb, and I wish I could hold a better conversation with Rich whenever he drives. Quiet guy. They are enthusiastic peeps who enjoy seeing vehicles in good shape. They know what they are doing. My vehicle is in good company.

This morning my van overheated while idling, and I was stuck at St. Jacobs Market, 1.5 hours away from home. I got my new tires mounted and installed through blackcircles.ca. Didn’t expect too much since it’s just a typical installation, but I was really surprised they inspected the car with pictures and description, suggestions, and I was able to review all of it online. I first went to him after my car began to shake at speed in the winter. He put it on the lift and took the time to clear all the ice from the rims, which fixed the problem. I bought a used 2011 Saab 9-5 Aero XWD V6 and discovered that though the body was in great shape, it needed a LOT of tlc, including, among other things, a universal joint and the inevitable timing chains. The Essential Auto team meticulously documented everything they found and walked me through each agonizing (for me) decision with honesty and professionalism. It's hard enough to find a garage that can properly change the fluids in a 9-5NG, let alone one that can deal with everything else. My car runs great and I wouldn't hesitate to recommend them to anyone needing work done on any car.

Late in the afternoon the alternator on my car died. I had driven in from Oakville. Called them and John was kind enough to take me in last minute because he realized that I had to drive back to Oakville. They quickly diagnosed the problem, got and installed a new alternator and sent me on my way in just about an hour, at the end of the day and last minute call. My first experience with Essential Auto was taking a commercial vehicle in for an (annual) inspection. I was really happy with the level of communication from everyone that I spoke with - when it was time to pick up the vehicle, I knew exactly what had been done, why, and what the cost would be. As a result of that experience, I decided to take my personal vehicle in to have my brakes replaced; I had the same great service. Clear, honest communication, an explanation of what needed to be done (and why, and the options available, and the cost). I have a 30 year old summer car that I bring in to Rich every year for an oil change and general inspection. The list of things that don't quite work right is as long as my arm. But Rich doesn't worry about that. He focuses on the things that absolutely need attention (like brakes) and only suggests fixes that are necessary right now, with most things suggested as "let's see if it gets any worse". He involves me in the decision making process, sources good-quality OE parts, and explains thoroughly what is being fixed and why. He also has the patience to answer all my questions.

I took my car to essential auto for an over heating problem. Right from the first call, this mechanic already seemed promising compared to other shops I've been to. They were extremely helpful and kind, answering every question I had. When they discovered problems unrelated to why I brought my car in, they notified me, and were completely honest about whether or not it was an urgent fix. They also sold me winter tires and rims at a great price that matched my budget. They can even store my tires until summer for just $60! The guys at Essential Auto provide you with an amazing report that spells out and shows with photos, exactly what is going on with your vehicle. I like that they pick you up in your vehicle that they have fixed so you get a test drive as well as a pick up. I trust that they fix only what needs to be fixed. I made sure Essential Auto handled all my repairs They adhere to a high standard of quality and service. An added bonus is you receive an extensive report given after any work has been done and suggestions if possible services that you may want to consider to keep your car in the best shape. They did an extensive check if there was any mechanical or electrical tampering to the car . Due to covid they did an extensive interior cleaning of the car. The insurance adjuster wasn't pushing to get things done in a timely manner so Jody at Essential took it upon himself to order services that they couldn't do at their shop (painting, replacing fenders etc) which is actually the adjusters job. I had great communication with Jody going through this ordeal. You can count on them to have your best interests in mind. Small shop tucked away amidst a parking lot full of cars, but as the other reviews have stated, offers very reliable and trust worthy service. A lightning strike EMP triggered my ABS sensor to illuminate, power steering to fail, radio to restart and wouldn't let my car restart, so Rich tested my battery and alternator free of charge. If there's any problems with my car, I'll definitely go back to them.

After having difficulties ordering parts and booking an appointment with my local authorized Suzuki serivce provider in London, I decided to drive to Waterloo to have my Suzuki SX4 looked after. I am very happy with my decision. Rich was very professional and looked after ordering a power steering pump that was being replaced due to a recall and a crossmember that had rusted out. I was contacted promptly when my parts had arrived and was booked in for service right away. My experience with with the staff at Essential Auto was top notch, they were very friendly and Jody even recommended a nice spot that my brother and I could get breakfast at. The repair was even done in less time then I was told it would take. I would have no reservations recommending Essential Auto Service for anyone looking to have their Suzuki serviced as they did a great job with my car and treated me very well as a customer.

Always willing to help me out of a jam, Rich, John, Jody and crew have moved mountains to solve my auto problems. In addition to scheduling work, they took on odd jobs for my 2007 Honda Fit (helping close a rear window before a rainstorm, fixing the hatch latch to close properly) when these little emergencies arose. I took my (old) car in because only one window rolls down. As soon as they were done looking at it, they e-mailed me a complete run down of *every* single system in the car, not just the window. From the hole in my bumper, to the wacky windshield wiper, brakes, struts, etc. Everything was coded as either green (in good shape), yellow (may need attention) or red (needs to be fixed sooner rather than later). When I spoke on the phone with them, they gave me prices for each item that needed attention and helped me prioritize what needed to be done now and what could wait a little while longer. When two parts that I needed from the car manufacturer ended up being rather expensive, they found them at a wrecker for me at half the price. In every interaction, the staff were kind and helpful, but I felt no pressure at all from them to do the repairs. In the end, I've decided to pull my car off the road until I can get it repaired. But once I have a vehicle again, I will absolutely be using Essential Auto Service for any maintenance or repairs. They went above and beyond.

What I really needed was an honest garage to give me a full rundown on my vehicle. I love their pictoral diagnostics as it helped me fully understand the workings or "not workings" of my vehicle. Also the colour coded system of Green good, yellow watch it and red needs immediate attention, was the perfect way to ensure I knew what I needed to address and in what order.
