I just went to change oil and this guy made my life harder, had to visit this shop 3 days to fiix my problem. Don't not go to this shop. If you value your hard earned money. Most importantly take out all your belongings from car otherwise they stole and never accept. The guys here are awesome, friendly and professional. They were able to get me in right away, allowed my dog to wait inside out of the cold. If they notice something under your car they will bring you out and kindly inform you of the situation. They even carry all oils and filters so I won’t have to visit the dealer first anymore. I went there to swap out my tires summer to winter. They upsaled me to buy new lug nuts. When employee drove my car out to me my car smelt like pot and now 2 days later it still smells. On my way home I felt the wheel vibrating and heard a noise so I pulled over and 3 lug nuts on front right wheel were not even tightened. So an employee came to tighten for me.

The oil change I got was adequate (which is saying a lot for a lube shop: I've had terrible experiences at other places), but do keep in mind that you can't run a shop like this on $20 oil changes: the business model is one of up-selling, and you will invariably be asked to do a transmission or coolant flush, or some other up-sell. There is some mild sales pressure, but it is under the guise of customer service, so it's not too uncomfortable. A smile and a firm "no thank you" will suffice to end the pain. The $20 oil change includes the most basic oil, and the price goes up about $10 for each grade of oil. The service is fast and friendly. FYI, some lube shops allow you to sit in the car while the oil is being changes. This one does not, but the waiting room is pleasant enough and offers free coffee.

Very unprofessional. Went in for a tire change, they ended up messing up my sensor on my all season tires. Missed appointment so I called "customer service" to address the issue, ended up talking to a guy who claimed he was the VP of the company, who subsequently threatened to call the police on me if I ever showed up to his shop again. I don't know whether he's tone deaf or plain slow up there but to utter threats to a customer who's POC regarding the police, with everything going on is one of the worst things I've ever heard. DO NOT ever set foot in this shop.

Almost all the good reviews for Economy Lube on here are fake. They are notorious for lying and ripping people off. They did it to me. Please see the episode of Marketplace on CBC's website where they use hidden cameras to show how disgusting these scumbags are. Especially the owner Stephen Moxey and his loser sidekick Chris Muter as they tell their staff to steal from customers. After that episode aired on t.v. several of their locations closed. It's incomprehensible that they are still in business.

Finally got our oil change and had to check our oil level and clarity ourselves before driving away, at which point we realized they didn't even give us a new sticker. Terrible experience. I brought my car in for a simple oil change, and was told I needed a coolant service as well. I passed on it, knowing they were trying to sell more to me. However two days later my coolant light came on my dash and my car was overheating. I brought it in to a different mechanic and was informed that the gentlemen at Economy Lube had drained almost all my coolant knowing my car would overheat forcing me to book a service with them. Unbelievable that they would do this to someone just to make some extra money. Will not be taking my car here. Costs me more money in the end.

This place is so honest that they have confirmed my faith in local business. I thought I needed a whole new exhaust system but instead they said I only needed a small part. They could easily have sold me the much more expensive option but they went the honourable route instead. I mentioned this to the owner and he said that he 'liked to make money but he also likes to be able to sleep at night'. I wish this man could teach this to other companies! Good for him. I went in for an oil change, and an employee told me my back breaks were completely worn down. I declined to have them changed there, choosing to go to my mechanic instead. DON'T TRUST THIS PLACE. This place tries to pay you $5 in Tim's Gift Cards to write them a positive review on Google Maps. They frequently try to scam customers into paying more money on things that are fine. They have fake "transmission oil" which they show you to get that looked after for a fee, are known to drain coolants intentionally trying to sabotage cars, and have fake "broken" parts on hand to show customers, acting as if it came from their car. Never has a scam been so obvious and deplorable. Don't trust them for even the simplest oil change, they may tamper with your car.

Please note that Economy Lube advertises in store that you will receive a $5 Tim Hortons gift card for positive reviews. This will mislead those of you looking for honesty. Today I went in for an oil change. I do go for the full synthetic as it allows me to double my time between oil changes, especially since my oil change doesn't cover my specialty filter. My change cost me $76. I'm not griping about that. My issue is that with my service, I should have received a fluids top up. I consider windshield washer fluid as part of the premium service. It was not topped up. I had to add about 3L, which I always carry with me in the winter, while in a parking lot about 10 minutes after my oil change. Also, I was shown both the air and cabin filters. Yes, they both required changing but I said I would take care of that since Parts Source is just up the street on Weber. As the service technician handed over my vehicle, he pointed out the low, bass-like blower hum. That was certainly new and was not present before the service at Economy Lube. I managed to fix the hum myself after cleaning out the fan of the dead leaves dropped into the motor either while the technician was removing or replacing the dirty filter. It was really disappointing service this time around. I have been going to Economy Lube for over six years with two different vehicles. Apart from the usual upsale and additional service pressure sales tactics, I've had pretty good results from them. I know I won't be back and will be trying other places.

I have been getting my oil changed here for years, always quick, good service and affordable. Recently my windshield wipers stopped working and partially broke off. In fear of costing a lot I held off on getting it looked at. Within 5 seconds of walking in to the building they came over and asked what I needed. I told them I needed an oil change. And in less than a minute and a half they had my car in the garage. Luckily there was only one other car in the garage so they could get to me right away. They let me know of another service and deal I could get with the oil change, but in a non-pushy way which I really appreciate. Really nice guys, clean, they offer free coffee and water. This is my first time getting an oil change and I'm extremely impressed! I'll definitely be coming back for future tuneups!

They close at 6.30pm. I called them at 5pm for tire change and they said it’s first come first serve. I reached there by 5.15pm and they said they have other tire changes to be done and asked to come the next day. They should’ve told me if they can’t do it today on call itself. When we got to Economy Lube, we were told it would be a 20 minute wait. We were there for 36 minutes and the two cars in the shop had not even moved. Then someone who got there 20 minutes after us was taken in for an oil change before us, because they did not put the customers in any order at all. By the time over 45 minutes had passed, they had not even acknowledged us or the mistake. Super unprofessional, slow, and careless. We ended up leaving after about an hour without an oil change. Super frustrating.

The manager was disappointed to tell me that I was not eligible for the lowest package as my vehicle only takes synthetic oil as part of more expensive packages, to keep business he offered me premium synthetic for he discounted price of a lower package. I went in for an oil change on one of my cars while I was in the area . I asked direct and UPFRONT how much for an oil change? I was told $79 plus tax for a full synthetic on my car . I made sure that it was the right price for my car and was told yes. After 15 minutes of small talk and being shown " the other things" that need to be done , I was told that my bill is now gong to be double . $142 plus tax lmao. DONT THINK SO No work was actually done on the car yet so I advise they manager to halt work on my car and I would go elsewhere . He argued with me saying my car takes 8 litres of oil and the filter was a special order. I told him thats not my problem because you saw my car when you quoted me the price of $79. He was quite hostile. I will be checking the oil on my vehicle. I doubt they even did the change or changed the filter since it was supposedly special order . . NO fluids were topped up at all. BEWARE OF ECONOMY LUBE. I will never go there again and will et my friends and family know of my experience The engine oil lght came on 1 month agter saying low oil .. In all of thrr time I have had this ccafr I had never ever seen that . Do they riped me off the oil and could have ruined my engine. in the benz !!

Do yourself a favor and STAY AWAY from this auto repair shop and Economy Lube in general. It will save your car, your money, and your nerves. Went there to swap to winter tires. Got a call 4 hours later that they cannot get the tires off, accusing the repair shop who did the last tire change to ruin the key for locking bolts. Little they did know that it was also them. Upon visit at the dealership service department, it turned out not only they have ruined the key, they have totally stripped off the locking bolts. Cost me extra $200 to drill them out. Wasted a month with the customer service trying to settle the issue. The customer service didn't show the slightest care at all. Currently in the process of filing a complaint with the ministry of consumer services.

I went in for an oil change was approached informing me I had 10% left on my back brakes and they needed to be replaced asap. The cost would be $350 and they could do it right away. I told them I was not interested. Got my dad to order new brakes and he went to change them and they were almost brand new! I will never go back here again as they saw im a young female and tried to take total advantage of me. We've used Economy Lube in the past when we couldn't get into our dealer, and had good experiences. It's always fast, relatively inexpensive. However, my husband brought our vehicle in for an oil change and the technician urged us to replace our brake pads and rotors due to wear immediately, and offered a free oil change if we have to work on our brakes done there. He quoted us $700.00. We were very surprised to hear that we needed new rotors because we hadn't noticed any brake symptoms, and had a previous brake inspection done a few months prior that indicated that our brake pads were still at 85%. We opted to get a second opinion and have a brake inspection done at another shop. We were told at the other shop that our brakes are in great shape.. over 80% front and rear, and don't need to replace the brake pads yet, let alone the rotors! Thankful that we spent the extra time and money to have a second opinion done, but VERY frustrated that we were almost conned into having unnecessary work done. They could definitely benefit from incorporating some honesty into their business model.

Been at this place for oil change, tire repair and service. The guy returned the car in 15 mins saying everything is done including service and charged me 197$, I asked him twice you sure its done. I haven’t seen anyone working on tire. He said all done we checked your tire and it’s leaking air from many places needs replacement and he can get me a deal for $400. My tires are fine only driven 40000 kms. I called their president chris as I was not satisfied with service he said it doesn’t take so much time in servicing the car and our technicians are quick. Don’t worry everything is fine. I was still not convinced and took second opinion at near by canadian tire location and they found the nail in tire and fixed it. This place is a ripoff they will try to up-sale different services. Please do not opt for any other services then oil change which is quite reasonably priced.

Never go to them if you love your car. Last day I went in for a quick oil change. A few minutes later a guy came to me with transmission oil in a cup and told me I'm way past the time to change it. I was at 65K km and he told i should change it at 48K. (Its between 85K to 115K for most of the cars and i knew my owners manual say 96K and that the color change that happens to it is also normal). He also showed the color of the new fluid which is bright red in color to convince me. He also said I need an undercoat but I had one last season and it was pretty intact when I checked it last week. I usually do most of the simple maintenance myself. The reason I took it to them was i just needed a quick oil change and it was cold outside to do it myself. When i said no to those, he said if I get all that done he can give me a free oil change. Anyway I declined all that and requested for just the oil change. Also transmission fluids are vehicle specific and it very crucial to use the right one, also some cars need a flush and others need just a change. I am sure they would know what's for my car and wouldn't go through the hassle for flush if it was required, from how they were just trying to upsell stuffs and not care about the car. Anyway, I got the oil change done and reached home. After a while I saw an oil puddle near my car! It was red in color so I knew it was the transmission fluid. The car could barely move, luckily there was shop nearby and we pushed the car in. When they checked, the plug this guys opened to take out the fluid was not even placed back, it was sitting on the plastic cover and ALL MY TRANSMISSION FLUID LEAKED OUT!!! Such CARELESS GUYS!! This could have ruined my entire transmission and too early to say if any internal damages has taken place too.. Even if you have to take your car to them for some unavoidable reasons, tell them to do only the specific task and not even to check other stuffs. In the bill they have a list of stuffs they have pre-checked including tire pressure. I could see a part of my car from behind and nobody checked any tire pressures.. The oil they filled came from a black container with no labels which also concerns me if it was even new. The time before when i was at Canadian Tire for an oil change, they atleast filled from a new yellow container with proper labels. This was the First and the Last for sure I go to these guys!! Also know that they will try to tell you a whole bunch of issues with your car most of them would just be a lie trying to upsell. Read about it online before you agree for the repair or take a second opinion on it. You have to be careful about your car and money cos they don't care about any of that! There is a YouTube video by CBC news on "oil change scams" specifically about these guys.

I've had nothing but bad experiences with Economy Lube. I drive a lot, so I get oil changes often. Every single time, they would try to up sell me. According to them, I always had some car part or another that was about to fail, and they conveniently had a replacement one that they could use. I always said no, and those parts never failed. They would then pressure me to leave a good review. I now go to Oil Changers, on King St right by the 401. You stay in your car, it's done quick, and they're honest about what your car needs.

This is the worest place ever. they will scam you. i went for oil change and then someone came to me and said the car needs coolant and gearbox oil as per maintenance record i said no and he insisted that it is dangerous and thus I agreed and he charged me 300$ then i contacted the dealer who provided me with the car records which show that the gearbox oil was good for another 50k and the coolant for more than 100 k. I filled a complaint against them but canada bearu of bussiness said the amount is below the minimum to take an action. please google economy lube scam to see a full tv investigation about them.

Avoid this place! A friend of mine took her almost new car there for an oil change only have them place the oil plug back incorrectly causing her oil to drain and engine to seize up on the highway. She has been completely screwed over by this and left without a vehicle and they couldn’t care less. Any decent business would take accountability for their negligence and make things right but these people are instead ignoring her and refusing to help. I guess they didn’t get the memo that bad word of mouth is more costly than any repair. No wonder they have to buy their positive reviews by offering people 5 dollar Tim Horton’s gift cards in exchange for them. Shady.

After every car I have brought in my "coolant desperately needs to be flushed" in every car...what a coincidence . Just undercoated my car 2 weeks before going but it will "absolutely need an undercoat because it doesnt have a drip of oil on it ." Tried upselling numerous times. They were quick because they dont do anything the package includes besides oil change. Had to fill my own fluids due to being on the road. Worst car shop of all time.

Been going here for over 2 years because they are inexpensive. I had my brakes done in the spring again because they were the lowest price. So now because of cutting costs I just had a $1400 bill because of engine issues due to poor quality work. Oil filter was most likely never change because it was so rusty. Rear brakes are already done but now I will have to not only replace pads and rotor but now the caliper as well. I also had the transmission oil change in the spring and shifting was never the same. AVOID AT ALL COST. PAY THE EXTRA LITTLE BIT AND TAKE YOUR CAR TO A GOOD MECHANIC.

Went to Economy lube to get my tires changed to winter tires. The car came back with completely scratched and scraped tire rims. It’s a brand new car and has had no scratches. The employee there would not even hear me out. He refused to listen to me and instead blamed me for those problems. Getting a simple tire change has not only damaged my car, I have also seen how business is apparently done at Economy Lube. They have definitely lost my business and I will ensure my friends also are aware of the way this company deals with its customers.

They are here to rob u. I went there for oil change and they sabotage my vehicle to make me feel like there is some problem. Then they charge me enormously. They replaced the part by sourcing from NAPA and charged me 300 bucks for that part. When I checked at NAPA website by using part number, the price was around 65 to 70 bucks including tax. Worst experience. Please don’t go there. Go to experienced mechanic instead. I had to pay 1000 bucks and still, they didn’t fix it. If you have enough money and don’t want to fix your car then you can go there. I wanted to give them a zero star.

The worst service possible, did not do even ONE point inspection, let alone 20. Used regular oil instead of Semi-Synthetics. Failed to top up the Windshield washer fluid. I will never return there. I wouldn't suggest it even to my enemies to get a service there. Rate -10 instead of 5.

Came in for an oil change today, within minutes of leaving there was a loud booming noise during acceleration from the engine. I immediately came back and was told that everything was fine, they showed me the dipstick, checked the shield and said they couldn't do anything else. Okay, noise was still there but they weren't going to do anything further so I did some investigating and, low and behold, they forgot to reseal the air filter. Of the three things that you did in my car, you didn't even bother to check if the air filter was back on and you brushed me off? Stupid mistake, fine, but don't expect a customer (who by the way has spent considerable money at this franchise on tires and general services) to be okay with being brushed off by a valid concern. I was going to call in and complain but I won't be coming back so what do I care about them making it right. Learn to check your work, and for customers don't trust all these five star reviews, they offer tim hortons cards for them. Go get one if you feel like a shoddy oil change is worth it.

I have been going to this Waterloo location for the past two years and have found their service to be the best and most honest. I would usually get my car assessments done at the Speedy and Jiffy Lube first, and find Economy Lube's assessments to be consistent with them, but Economy Lube would always get it done for much less. I have also noticed many more people going to this location over the location s of their neighbour competitors. I am glad they came into this neighbourhood.

AVOID LIKE THE PLAGUE!!! Took car in for oil change and employee broke hoodlatch. Tried saying it was like that then admitted to breaking it. I was then told to leave and go to a mechanic. Rude, poorly trained incompetent employees. Will never go back.

DO NOT USE!!!!!! AVOID!!! UPDATE—— He is now refusing to show me the footage from the facility saying that if I want to see it I need to pursue the matter with lawyers! Over $200-300 in damage?? Avoid at all costs!!! WONT ANSWER MY CALLS!! AVOID ECONOMY LUBE!! WORST EXPERIENCE EVER! DO NOT USE! DENTED MY CAR AND BLAMED ME! After getting straight home from EconomY Lube (no stops, etc.) I went back out to my car to head out again when I instantly noticed a sizeable dent in the back end of my car. I called economy lube to try and figure out what happened (because this WAS NOT there this morning before heading straight to economy lube) and within 20 minutes of calling head office, they had reviewed the footage and deemed that it was on me and they were not liable. They stated that there was no clear damage done on their footage thus they weren't liable for it. They have offered for me to come see the footage which I am going to do, (But for some reason I have to meet up privately with the guy and watch the footage off his phone?) but the end result is still the same- somehow my car was dented while at economy lube. They stated I should of heard something while I was waiting or I could of noticed it when they brought it back out (essentially blaming me) when it was not there upon arriving at economy lube and it WAS there after leaving economy lube. Economy lube insisted that the dent had been there for "a couple days" (not sure how they're able to tell this?) and that it was 100% not them but the facts just don't align - WHEN I LEFT THIS AM AND WENT STRAIGHT TO ECONOMY - NO DENT. UPON LEAVING ECONOMY- HUGE NOTICEABLE DENT . The manager was extremely rude, kept cutting me off, wouldn’t listen & refused to accept any sort of responsibility!! DO NOT USE!!! (unless you like dents in your car then by all means they’re great at that!)

HORRIBLE, went in for an oil change and ended up paying $330 for work I didn't want done. When I asked them to stop they continued work anyway, then left my truck sitting outside idling. Have left numerous complaints with the manager and head office. No one seems to care, WONT GO BACK.

It would be a good deal if they stuck to their prices of $19.99 per economy oil change. Poor service all together, borderline con artist. They will also give you $5 in gift cards if you leave a positive review on Google. 1. First they empty the oil but not fully, so it's still flowing when they cap it back. So all the dirt from the bottom of oil tank is still kept in the car because it didn't fully drained. 2. Then they try to up-sell you premium oil, and claim that they don't have any more economy oil left .."fill in reason here".. 3. Then they try to up-sell you more stuff. Under carriage oil spray ($69.99, $79.99 or $129.99) depending on how gullible. 4. Next time they will try to up-sell you engine fluid change.. or coolant change.. for ($69.99, $79.99 or $129.99)
