TLDR: Ralph Ivey's Auto Repair saved my road trip through Nova Scotia. I was on a road trip through Nova Scotia in 2018, when the clutch went out in my NA Miata near Cape Breton Highlands National Park. None of the repair places nearby would give me the time of day. I was told bleeding the system wouldn't help, and the only solution was to replace to clutch master cylinder, which they couldn't order for my Miata. Ralph Ivey's said they could get a new clutch master cylinder in for my Miata in a day or two and even offered a loaner car so I could continue my tour. When I arrived at Ralph Ivey's after a long tow truck ride, they suggested bleeding the system, which if successful would get me home. And it worked! They even showed me where the bleeder was so I could bleed the system on the way if I needed. My Miata made it back home without issue and I was able to replace the clutch master cylinder at my leisure. They were also really friendly which was welcome on what was a very stressful day. They really did save my trip, and if I ever find my way back up there, I'm going to buy them a beer.

TLDR: Accused patron of Covid to refuse service, then tried to over change. Then tried to blame Cylinder 3 failure on A/C regulator which had been fixed earlier in the day. Came up from New Brunswick and was heading home. Missed one of my last stops by 15 minutes because he accused us of having Covid. Tried to refuse service. No symptoms, citing Atlantic bubble was not in effect. When shown government website, tall, mustash and unprofessional ran to his collegues because he didn't like being watched while he plugged in his diagnosing equipment for the flashing engine light. (FYI that tool tells you exactly what is wrong). Tried to blame Cylinder 3 failure on A/c regulator. Saying that wires had been disturbed and that is why the engine light came on on the highway. When told that was not possible as the engine is different than the A/C. He said that the other mechanic had dropped something into my engine. Not possible. I watched him fix the A/C the whole time. Took Accord to Paul Brown Auto who fixed it within 5 minutes of being on the hoist. No games, professional, friendly. Worth the drive across town with the engine light flashing.

Ralph Iveys auto repair has excellent service. The best muffler man on cape Breton Island works there. Ask for Brian, he can bend pipe every which way.

They were fast and honest and fit me into their busy schedule so I could continue on my road trip. These guys are fantastic. I'd give them more than five stars if I could.

We came from Ontario and all of a sudden our brakes went. Going to numerous garages, everyone was busy. The local Canadian Tire called to Ralph’s and he squeezed us in. Job in done about 2 hours. Couldn’t be more appreciative. Very professional and friendly.

Brought my car in for some repairs this was last year long story short when getting my tires changed at Canadian tire a piece of something fell off the pipes,Ralph Ivey repaired with muffler filler instead of welding after speaking with others I guess this is the lazy way of doing things. We paid $1100.for repairs to other things as well.Just a heads up to others.

I am among those who have been waylaid in North Sydney with car problems solved by this repair shop. I brought it in without appointment in mid-morning, had a diagnosis and estimate by early afternoon, but the part didn't arrive till the next morning. So it took about 1.5 days, but I think the cost was fair and the car is back in sufficient working order to get us through the rest of the trip. Mike was friendly and explained the work without a lot of BS. Even better, the shop gave us a loaner to use so we could get around town as needed!
