I have wanted to write this review shortly after I dealt with Murphy's in March, but dealing with unfortunate circumstances, I fee,l better late than never. I purchased a vehicle from one of Murphy's devoted customers on March 10th. While I don't doubt they give her excellent service and while I know she trusts them completely, I feel completely taken advantage of. The vehicle was left at Murphy's to get a makeover and fixed to tip top shape (as much as a used vehicle can get), after talking to a Murphy's employee and taking a short test drive and assured what a wonderful vehicle I would be getting, I purchased the vehicle. I purchased the vehicle on a Monday, I drove around my neighborhood, only putting about 14 miles on the car before the end of the week. On Friday (4 days later) I had to make a 3 hour drive up north to pick up my Father's ashes...I didn't make it in time as I had broken down on the freeway a half hour into my drive. Stuff happens, right? Although under a tremendous amount of stress and arranging a rental car as well as arranging a tow/repairs from Murphy's and the seller, I felt a tiny bit at ease after hearing that it would be looked at and fixed by the same employee who had talked to me about purchasing the vehicle in the first place. Coming back home from an already stressful situation, my stress only increased as I found that my vehicle had a mystery problem. I am by no means a mechanic, but all signs pointed to the transmission, as I had already explained to the Murphy's employee. Explanation and advice from more mechanically inclined friends seemed to confirm my suspicions. While I needed a vehicle badly given my recent events, I would rather wait and get back a fixed vehicle without worries on if I would make the drive up north to my newly widowed Mother. The Murphy's employee was boggled, he could not figure out the problem, assuring me that there was nothing wrong with the transmission. A day or two later, I received a call saying that I could pick up the vehicle and was told that it ended up being a simple fix with no transmission problems. I reluctantly agreed to split the bill with the seller and was on my way. Two days later the check engine light came on after taking the vehicle on a short trip on the freeway (first time on the freeway after breaking down) and just for curiosities sake, decided to run a simple diagnostic test to see what the problem might be. Well, according to the mechanic who ran the diagnostic test and showing me the results, it was...transmission problem, after transmission problem after transmission problem. In the opinion of this second mechanic, he just couldn't believe that after hearing my story that this Murphy's employee with many years under his belt wouldn't have known that there was something else to this vehicle. So, hear I sit with a vehicle that is unworthy of the freeway and unable to make a trip to see my family. While I cant confirm that the Murphy's employee made a subtle quick fix to keep me happy for a little bit and knew all along that there were big issues with the transmission and didn't want to tell me or fix it, I certainly feel that way. Like most people, I live paycheck to paycheck and spent my savings on this vehicle, even borrowing money to pay for it...and cannot afford to fix the transmission. What do I expect from Murphy's? I can guarantee that they will not help me and will chalk it up to..."that's a part of life"...but writing this review and telling my story will have to suffice.

Twice in the past two weeks, Chuck and his staff have quickly resolved two different car issues of mine. Both times Chuck diagnosed the problem as a lesser costing expense then what I thought the problem was. They were honest about these car issues, rather than over charging, as I have had happen at other repair centers. I have had a few repair services done at Murphys after a not so good experience with a big chain store. Murphys is reasonably priced and professional. They make me feel like they treat my car the way I would treat it (which is very well). My most recent experience was taking it in for a noisy muffler. They looked at it and said they could fix it but they would have to sell me a while new cat and exhaust system so they recommended a specialty muffler repair shop which they said could probably fix me up for a lot less money. That is honest service! I will have everything done at Murphys from now on!

When I first walked in I was made to feel like I was at home... The cashier/receptionist was very nice, offering me coffee, and gave me the Direct TV remote. The waiting area is a small two seat area and service was fast and done right the first time!

One of the few mechanics that do not deserve the stereotype. I called them on a Saturday when I had an issue with my car. They said they could squeeze me in to at least look at it and see what can be done. I brought it in at 9:50 and they lifted it up right away. Luckily it was nothing terrible. They said they could just fix it then and they had me out the door by 10:20! When I went to pay, the price was so low I offered to pay them more. I have always had a great experience with these guys but this time I felt I had to say something! Thank you Murphys for keeping my hunk of junk moving!

Murphy's has been our family mechanic for as long as I can remember. We recently has our car towed there because it shut down while driving. Basically our engine seized up. We no longer have that car now. My husband went in and asked how much do I owe you, their reply was NOTHING. Im not gonna kick someone when they are down. They are phenomenal people. Although the issue with the car was a minor one Murphy Service once again took care of it. We have been taking our cars to Murphy Service for 30+ years. That in itself speaks volumes about the quality and cost of their work. Although there are many service stations that do the same kind of work much closer to where we live we still prefer to drive well out of our way to bring our vehicles to Murphy's Service. I recommend them to everyone!

Visiting our son, who is Minneapolis for a month. His vehicle started making terrible noises from the front right side. It’s Saturday, where do we go??? Found this place close to where we were staying LUCKILY!!!! Drove it in, they test drove it....loose front tire! Just had tire replaced 2 weeks ago at Tires Plus. This guy was friendly, honest, and a pleasure to do business with!! Also found a missing lugnut on another tire. Replaced with his own inventory and all he wanted for his time was $5!!! Of course we gave him more due to his honesty alone!! Highly recommend this place!!! Blessed to have found such a place! In and out in 15 minutes!

Good old-fashioned grease-under-your-fingernails HONEST guys! I had gone to a larger chain where they quoted me a laundry list of urgent things upwards of $2K to repair. I took my car to Murphy's and did not share that list with them. They found NONE of them to be the case but one thing - brakes - badly worn and showed them to me. Guess what? Brakes weren't even on that other place's list. That was a year ago and since then I've gone to Murphy's and no place else. They are the BEST.

This is a great auto shop. They’re up front and honest about their services, and prices are reasonable. A few years ago I brought in my 15yr old car, I had gotten a huge list of repairs to do from a different shop. I showed the list to the staff at Murphy’s and asked them if they could check if I really needed all that work. After a thorough review of my car they pointed out which repairs were needed, and which ones were bogus. They helped me decide which repairs they would do, and didn’t mind when I told them my husband would do some of the other repairs. Because of their honesty and reasonable prices I was able to get 2 more years out of that old car before buying something newer. Ever since then we’ve brought our vehicles to Murphy’s for any repairs or maintenance.

I had such a great experience with this service center. It's very close to work and Rich helped me out with a moments notice and replaced a plug in my tire. He then went above and beyond and fixed a light that my own service place said it would cost over 1000 dollars because the whole assembly must be replaced.
