Terrible service. I have an issue with my Nissan Altima. I called Phil’s because someone recommended this shop. I talked to Phil himself. He told me it sounded like the alternator was the issue. In my own research, it appears this is likely the problem. He quoted me over $600 for a new alternator and a booked me in for a week later. So, I searched the internet for a used or “new replacement” alternator and found one in NOTL—it was the only one in Niagara that I could source. I went and picked it up so that I would have one ready should the alternator be the culprit.
I showed up at 9:30am this morning for my appointment. It was Phil who greeted me.
Then he told me I cancelled my appointment (which I most certainly did not).
Then he said he has that time slot booked for another lady. He didn’t seem to have any recollection of speaking with me on the phone at all.
So then I said that I brought my own alternator just in case it is the problem. He then told me he won’t put it in. He doesn’t put in used parts from other companies. He used to but no longer does, said he. I explained it’s a guaranteed new replacement part.
Yeah. Nah.
I was visibly and audibly upset and then I asked him (almost confirming) that he screwed up the appointment AND won’t put the alternator in? I told him he’s getting a bad review. So here it is.
Looks like he really wanted to make double the money on the part and the labor.
I do not recommend Phil’s. Perhaps other people have had better experiences, but not me.
They DID do a good job changing my oil last year. I brought my own oil for that, too. I’m amazed he didn’t turn me away with my own oil then, as well.
I’ll never go back.
