I was around the corner at the Head Shoppe for a haircut on Saturday, and when I left the hairdresser's I had a flat! I called my husband, and our friend drove him over to put the donut on. Thankfully, it was a very close jaunt next door to the nearest tire place. The team at Major Discount was accommodating, taking our car in almost immediately. We took our friend out to lunch to thank him for bringing my husband over, and Major Discount called to say the job was done before we had even finished eating! Not only was the service quick, but honest - our tire just needed to be re-situated on the rim. They did not attempt to sell us an unneeded tire or other good/services. I was lucky that they were the closest shop when the unpredictable happened. Major Discount made an unexpected situation that could have been a major hassle a quick, easy, and cost-effective experience. Thanks so much to everyone there who helped us out!

Was visiting my family from out of province, and was getting ready to leave when I noticed my tires were in REALLY bad shape (too bad to drive).. My dad suggested these guys, so I walked-in inquiring about a new set of 4 tires.. Mike was AMAZING in everyway: friendly, efficient, knowledgeable, and was so kind to squeeze me in (within 2 hours) to get my tires changed (and rotated) for a REALLY affordable price! They lost the center cap on my wheel. They said they were already loose when installed the wheel back on the car after a tire change. Yet they denied to inform me of this or take appropriate step so I don't lose it while driving.

First time using this shop. Great service and very accommodating. Attended to my car without having an appointment. Dealer told me a possible large bill problem (something about bushings), which would have costed be $800 (mostly labor I suppose). Major Discount did free diagnostic the same time of the oil change and determined it's not really necessary. I will be bringing my car back to them for routine maintenance from now on for sure!

Went in to see about getting my brakes done my ABS light and my skid control light are lit up when in to have it checked out they said it would be at least two weeks before they could see me and they said good luck getting anyone else at this time of the year ....well that sucks

I overheard two guys talking about how much they liked Major Discount in Dartmouth that I decided to try it for myself. I was having an issue with an older Saturn Coupe and told them that it needed repair and price was not a problem. they could have easily taken advantage of my willingness to pay almost any amount to get the car fixed, but they didn't. The repairs were well done, they were able to manufacture some parts at a much cheaper price and only fixed what really needed to be fixed. I have been getting my vehicles and my kid's vehicles inspected and repaired at Major Discount for almost 9 years. Customer service wasn't too friendly here, treated me like I was clueless and dumb about MY OWN car. Forgot that I asked for tire storage and was rude after service was done, just wanted us gone pretty much, given his general attitude when we were paying. Edit: winter tires that they "swear by" arent too good at all they dont grip as good

I would categorize my knowledge as between novice and intermediate and I am always satisfied with the conversation about work needed/performed. I am skilled enough to have a good mental estimate of what many types of jobs would price out at, and when I'm given the quote, it matches or beats what I was silently expecting. They have repeatedly earned my respect and loyalty.

If I could I'd personally give them no stars at all , the staff was ignorant, charger me $179 for just labour that wasnt even an hour, plus dont me parts needed to be replaced that didnt! And they called about 5 other customers while I was waiting for my car and was rude and flipping out to every single one of them they should change their name because they deffinately should not be called major discount, should be called major scam or major rib off! I will NEVER EVER let them touch any of my vehicles again!

I recently went here for three separate appointments. MVI, and two separate tire changes. Each time I was greeted in a friendly manner, and was made to feel important. The seating area was clean, and the chairs were spaced out to Covid guidelines. Tire prices are fantastic as well, they beat the pants off everyone else's price even when the tires were a special order. I've been looking for a garage that I can trust, and I believe I've found it.

These people are so kind and very hard-working. I called them up to tell them my steering wheel was very shaky after having one winter tire put on there last week. They said to swing by and they would take a look. They ended up taking 30 minutes out of their cram-packed day and balanced my three other tires right then and there, no appointment, even though they were extremely busy. I drove away and my wheel was no longer shaky at all. They saved me so much time and money and I can't thank them enough! I will be back and I'll be recommending to everyone I know with a car!

I have had nothing but the best service from this business. One visit I showed up unannounced and they fit me in for an oil change. Another time I was a full hour late for my appointment and it was no trouble. I have booked on a Friday for a Saturday appointment (when they would no doubt be shorter staff) and STILL it's no problem. Like, I am the worst kind of client, and they treat me like gold. AMAZING.

They often mess up but they are always willing to 2 check it and fix it. Sometimes they also over charge people for labor so ask them to break down the bill and explain it to you in case they messed it up. They also call and tell you extra work your car needs (they over charge for this work) so I take the note and take it somewhere else if I have to do more then just change my tires.

I went there for $108 job (spark plugs change), then told it will cost almost $350 cuz they did not know that my intake has to come off even though I told them the car make and model. Then will tell u that ur car needs so and so and try to make more money. There is also a lady that sits there and watching everything, as if she is watching them and what they say to make more money off the customer.

As a one car family of four, we always look for good deals. We got our truck front and rear breaks done here. Steve was wonderful. There was a issue with a backing plate and it was in quickly to get it fixed promptly without charge. Only challenge was the inconvenience for us two weekends in a row.

I have had vehicle repairs completed at M Discount for years, and have received reasonable quotes and good work. I should have approached the owner a while ago but instead I just started using another service. I took my vehicle in to have a small leak repaired front end near cooling system, the mgr called me and informed that the gasket was gone ,and he was sorry to tell me this on a long weekend but it would cost 1400 to repair, at least. I had them put it back together and had the vehicle serviced elsewhere, they replaced the water pump for 200 $$ that was a yr ago the vehicle is fine, disappointed to say the least

I had a leak in my flex pipe running from the engine to the catalytic converter. The regular mechanic I go to said to find a muffler shop that can do this specific work. My car is a Range Rover and getting at this pipe is tenuous job. I inquired around and my friend Wade advised Major Discount Muffler. I contact the shop and the Mgr Spencer said to bring it in and he would be able to better access the job and price. Long story short I had it repaired. I can say this gentlemen was honest straight forward. The work corrected the exhaust leak into my ventilation system. The car works better and no smell of exhaust. The price was very fair. I would bring my cars back to this business in a flash. Thanks guys for good old fashion customer service and satisfaction ????

My mother in-law was having some car trouble and needed some new tires. Went in first thing in the morning and Steve said they were fully booked, but if she left it he might be able to get to it today. Sure enough she got the call near the end of the day he was able to fit it in and it was ready to go. She appreciated how quick it was as she had been helping my wife and me out with our newborn child. Great price on the tires too. Awesome, quick service. 10/10 would recommend!

Went to change winter tires and as I installed we found a bubble on the side wall. Clearly I was not going to drive around! Called around everywhere and could not get in. Got in touch with this team and they said if I brought in the wheel, they could change out the tire same day. They kept their word. In and out in 10 minutes. They even answered some questions I had regarding the tire change. Great service. Great price. Great advice. I’ll certainly keep them in mind for my next tire service!

I was not happy with your service when I had my car over to be inspected on November 7, 2017. First, I was not happy when you told me there were 2 holes in the floor of the car. I asked you to take a picture of them so I could submit it to Diamond Kote to see if they would cover the repairs. You said that you would try, and I asked you to call me when you put it back up on the hoist and I would go over and take the photos. You never bothered to call, nor did you take the photos for me. I took it elsewhere and they put it up on the hoist, showed me the holes and I took the photos. As you know, Diamond Kote approved your quote, but when you refused to submit the invoice directly to them, I decided I would not give you any of my hard earned money to do the work. BTW, two years ago, when you did the inspection, you told me then there was a hole in the floor. I took it to someone else, he put it on the hoist and could not find a hole, all he could find was a small dent, possibly from a rock hitting it. Unfortunately he is no longer in the area, otherwise I would not have given you any business in the past 2 years. Secondly, the front lower control arm bushings, you replaced them in 2013, mileage was 110,000 km. You replaced them again in 2015, mileage 127,000 km. You replaced the left one again this year, mileage 167,000. I talked to a couple of friends, their husbands are mechanics (neither of them live in HRM) and both of them said I need a new mechanic. I was told that either the parts were not being installed properly or you were using cheap parts and at $180 for each side, it doesn’t sound cheap to me, but with the amount of mark up you have, based on your tire prices, the part could very well be cheap. I will remind you that word of mouth advertising is worth its weight in gold, I’ve built my own business by mostly word of mouth. I will never recommend that anyone have work done by your business again, and anyone that I know that gets work done at your place will hear about my experience.

I needed tires mounted and a front end alignment. Tires got mounted but the alignment couldn’t be done because of my vehicle’s stability control system. $20 taxes in to get a tire mounted and balanced is a great value. Plus I dropped my truck off and their shuttle got me to work and back. What stuck out in my mind was how clean the customer area was. A lot of shops overlook the state of the area where the customer spends their time. I will definitely return and recommend to others.

I brought my car to Major Discount for a MVI due to good reviews online. I had several people tell me beforehand it should pass inspection without any problems. I was then told it had failed, was given a rejection sticker and told it would be around 1000$ to get a passing grade. Having some sense I declined and decided to get a second opinion. The second place I took it said that it was okay and passed without a problem. Definitely would not recommend as it seemed as though I was being scammed. Giving it a second star simply because they were timely and nice.
