My Hyundai Sante Fe had major problems - a part that went under the car in the undercarriage was shot. The new parts must be molded differently because after 5 days in the shop over the long holiday May weekend, Randy and the guys re-built the undercarriage of my car. Kudos to the entire staff at this shop, I've been going there for 10 years now and have never been ripped off or treated like a woman who didn't know what was what when it comes to cars. They explain it so you can understand. Randy is shop manager and is very knowledgeable about cars and taking care of the cars. Kudos to Victor and the other mechanics!!

This was one of the worst garages we have ever had to deal with. The work we needed done wasn't done, causing us to wait an extra 45 minutes upon pickup. They failed to run proper diagnostics, fixed something that didn't need to be fixed, resulting in us having to return the next day to have the work continued. Though when we came to pick it up the business was closed as one of their staff was 1.5 hours late. Not a great start to our morning! We own 2 businesses, and have NO extra time in the day to deal with this high school crap. So we had to backtrack across the city again. When we finally got our vehicle dealt with, we realized they had destroyed a very valuable piece of electronics that we had in the back. Though they did come to an agreement about what we owed because of this damage, the whole experience was a drain on our time and energy. There was one employee at the front desk , as well as a mechanic who were very polite and apologetic, but I can't say the same about anyone else we dealt with. One positive is that they do supply a courtesy car, so at least we weren't completely stranded for the 2 days and all the running around we were forced to do while dealing with them.

My wipers motor broke during the first snow of this year and BCAA towed me to greatyear. I had no idea where I was going but I trusted my tow truck guy. He knew everyone by name and the staff greeted me so warmly. They knew the answer to every question I had. Randy also hooked me up with brand new tires at just the right price! The staff is so knowledgeable and didn't treat me like I was dumb when I admitted I wasn't too car savvy. They explained everything in terms I understood and even spoke to my dad over my cell phone to explain everything to him. They are super casual, but not unprofessional. It was the perfect blend of business casual professional and keeping it real. They are open 6 days a week and really went out of their way to make sure my car (and therefore me) is safe. I will always recommend my friends here. I already told them! They are now my new car guys. FOR. EVER. Many thanks to Randy, Victor, and the other names I don't remember!

Our work van broke down on Friday afternoon of a holiday weekend. When I called Goodyear, they sounded pleased to be able to help us. Right when we got there, Steve introduced himself and shook my hand. The team there, including Marvin and Vic, were all friendly and reassuring. My wife's 2004 Audi tt coupe overheated on Boundary Road and we had the car towed to Goodyear Ultimate Source at 5334 Lougheed Hwy. Both Randy and Victor handled our problem. They were extremely knowledgeable and helpful and not only did they fix the problem that had caused the overheating, they also were pro-active enough to look into many of the other cooling system components that were likely to cause issues in the future. They gave us several options on how to proceed and carried out the repairs on-time and on-budget. In addition, they gave my wife a free courtesy vehicle to use while they worked on her car. She was very pleased with her experience and would recommend this company to anyone in need of straightforward and competent service on their car or truck

Had Victor and Randy Look over my vehicle I was considering to purchase. After being in two other shops prior and one of those shops was the dealership itself, I wanted to make sure all was well with the vehicle. GreatYear Auto still managed to find items that required attention that should of been mentioned at the two other previous shops. I understand that people can miss things but 3 items that are common on a use vehicle inspection (Engine spark Plugs worn, Transmission oil black, and brake fluid master cylinder black) saved me a lot of money as the dealer who is selling the vehicle is required to present the vehicle in a complete save and maintain manner. The dealership was great as they did not dispute the issues and paid to have some of the maintenance concerns corrected. All and All was happy with all parties in this transaction

My neighbour is a mechanic and when he wasn't available to do a prepurchase inspection on a vehicle for me he recommended these guys. So that right there is a good sign for me. Although I think the inspection is expensive they are extremely thorough, it took them a few hours to look over an odyssey for me. Every single person there was so polite, friendly, informative and helpful. I don't normally write reviews, but the service I got this weekend was so good I really wanted to make sure people felt comfortable getting cars inspected here. The front desk guys walked me through the process, were very knowledgeable, gave me alot of really useful information and advice up front (and charge my phone for me when it was dying! Ha). The inspection itself was done by Marvin who has a lot of experience looking at rebuilt cars and put my mind at ease knowing I would get a full picture. I called this morning to ask a couple questions and Randy spent a LONG time walking me through his concerns and what the findings really meant. I actually couldn't believe the time and care he took to get me up to speed on all the issues at play. So, I highly recommend these guys to do prepurchase inspections, and I really appreciate the excellent and thorough service. A great company for anyone looking at rebuilds or anyone who isn't used to buying vehicles etc.

My sense is these guys are honest and do good work, but they also have big shop overhead, so they charge appropriately for the work they do. Staff were all very friendly and professional. A couple people wrote about how they felt they were given a false impression that their cars needed serious work done urgently. I can't speak to the specifics of their situation, but... car maintenance IS expensive and/or urgent, sometimes, just to keep the car safe for the driver and others. I don't know cars well enough to know for sure if mechanics are ripping me off, and there's not much I can do to check, so who knows for sure, but I've had a regular mechanic for many years and I trust him. Sometimes the bills are very low, other times they're very high; sometimes my guy will tell me not to bother with certain work I'm wondering about. Same with these guys, I suspect. I found this shop through a referral from a BCAA driver, which strikes me as a good sign. They're also open on Saturdays, Sundays, and holidays, which is great, and why I sometimes use them. Check them out. I don't think it's a scam. It's hard to want to give five stars when you've been hit with a lot of maintenance you weren't expecting, but maybe I should. They were fairly understanding and gave me options to do the minimum for safety, and keep it as affordable as possible; had a loaner car for me, etc. I'd use them again.

This was my first time bringing my car to an auto shop and he took the time to answer all my questions and made me feel very relaxed to put my car in their trust. He is an honest man who gives honest prices. Randy will call you every hour your car is being worked on to give you the down lo and ask for your approval before anything is being ordered/changed and fixed. Friend recommended this place for a diagnose for stalling when cold on my 94 BMW, bill came to over twice the quote, they did top up the power steering reservoir, so in all fairness a service/repair was made, with a total cost, including tax of $ 279.16. I'm not too impressed with the service, to say the least, would hate to think what the bill would be like on a major repair. This may have included a quick visual for problems under hood and under side. Claimed they had spent a lot of time checking out the car, a visual, how long does that take. Did not appreciate Randy's condescending attitude when speaking to me, could go on but will reframe. Goodyear, one thinks of tires, should have realized when I see the sign,a franchise, not like a dealership repair shop or highly skilled auto shop I would not recommend this place myself, just my take on dealing with this place. OK place to buy tires I would say and small jobs, same market sector as Canadian Tire, need I say more.

This guy is a straight up scam artist. Do not take your vehicle here. He said he was going to fix my calipers. He literally did nothing but wire brush the outside to buff them up and make it look like he did something. All he did in actuality was scrape off whatever protective coating had been on there originally because within a few weeks of getting my car back the looked completely rusted. He charged me 1100 for that!. I would never recommend this person, not even to my enemies.

My favorite old 2003 Safari died. It had a severe engine failure which they repaired only to have another problem with a head gasket. It was time to let it go and Randy suggested I could replace it with a 4Runner and get similar characteristics and towing capability. He Took my old van and gave me a partial refund on the repairs. I was away at a sporting event with my kids, when waiting outside the arena there was a very strong smell of gas coming into the vehicle. I looked under my SUV to see fuel leaking from the tank at an alarming amount. A friend gave me Randy's number and he was able to get me in on short notice and provide me and my kids a courtesy vehicle. He was able to repair my tank without the part being available and when there was an issue with the line upon reinstalling he had the technician meet me after hours to have it fixed up so we could travel home to Kelowna. I was very happy with the service the price was a little high but that was only because the actual part was not available and modification was needed. Had I had time to wait for the cheaper part it could have cost me less but I needed to travel home so hotel costs would have been far more than the difference in this repair. I would highly recommend Randy for any of your automotive needs ????

after working on my Volvo XC90 2.9 awd rad late at night I overlooked secure aspects of my turbo hoses which were not tight enough and causing the car to I have a lousy idol so the next day I went into a "GREAT YEAR automotive "in NuWest and they zeroed in on the problem of my problem of my hoses not securely fastened and causing a lousy I'dle when they put the hoses back on secured. With new clamps everything ran perfectly I also would say they set into the problem with enthusiasm patience and tolerance at correcting the problem with my car because prior to it was dangerous to drive thank you very much and thank you for your hospitality at your location

Victor a very nice and honest mechanic. Through my own mistake I needed a new engine in my 08 MercedesML350. He sourced the engine and performed the work flawlessly. They are very knowledgeable about Mercedes vehicles but is independent which I insist as the ‘stealer ships’ are way too expensive and you can’t speak with a mechanic there. Victor was very knowledgeable and tried to keep costs down as much as he could. I had another independent Mercedes mechanic but I have found a new and better one.

Got a flat tire from a sidewall puncture on a Saturday morning just before leaving on a road trip to Kelowna. All other shops basically said they were too busy, and didn’t really try to find a replacement tire for me. I walked into GreatYear, which looked busy, but Victor helped me out right away. Victor called two tire suppliers and within an hour had an OEM tire delivered to the shop. He did the tire swap between his other appointments, and I was on the road within 30 minutes. GreatYear saved my road trip!

It's a money grab. Whenever you take the car in they come up with multiple problems that do not need to be fixed right away at all, and lure you into this bill that's ten times more than your expectation. You can absolutely wait till you have more money in hand and get them fixed one by one, but they mislead you into thinking it's an urgent matter and needs to be resolved right away. Basically they don't even want you to come again, they want your money RIGHT NOW. Avoid avoid avoid!!

Great Year automotive is awesome! They are the most reasonably priced mechanics shop, they are patient in answering my million questions, my car always runs great after they fix it, and they gave me a free courtesy car! I had 3 back coils replaced recently and my car is driving as smooth as ever. They also replaced my wing mirror and did a great job. Also last summer they put a new rad in my 2002 Nissan and they did that job well too! Plus I’ll say it again: they were the most reasonably priced mechanics shop around, and so nice to me when I was stressed out in my efforts to keep my old (but loved) car on the road! Was their regular customer for over 2 years (mostly oil changes, $20 if you bring your own oil and filter) but never ever coming again. Came there for an out-of-province inspection for a jdm car. Other then a small suspension problem and absence of the daytime running lights (japanese gov't doesnt require DRLs) the car passed the inspection with flying colors. DRL module they chose and installed caused my xenon lights to not come on all the time (most of the time just 1 light would come on) and I had to re-start the car several times in order to have both headlights on. Brought the car back once - they told me they couldn't find the problem. Then they moved to New West which is completely out of my way so I had to go through this misery for several more months before I could come to their new location (I called them in advance to inform the problem still exists and needs to be addressed). Long story short they had my car in their shop for over a week and told me it has electrical problem (high feed) and that is causing the DLR module they installed to malfunction. Upon initial out-of-province inspection no electrical problems were found and they went ahead and installed the DRL module of their choice. So they're are either bad car inspectors and should have their inspection licence revoked for passing a car with electrical problem, or just bad electricians. On top of over $300 initially payed to have the DRL module installed (the total for inspection, suspension fix and DRL was over $2000) got charged additional $201 the last time (I payed $200 cash and Randy insisted I still owe him 1 dollar and I had to pay $1 from a card. Something a decent sales guy would never ask a regular customer to do) and the problem is still there. If you're in New West and looking for a good repair shop I recommend Amayak Auto Service just gown the street.

After a heavy rain we found a significant pool of water in our hatchback trunk and the backseat floor areas a month ago. Unfortunately, we made the mistake of taking it to another shop. We were told it was fixed but found out later that night (when it started raining again) that it was still leaking. That process repeated *2 MORE TIMES*! Each time we were told they found another leak and fixed it. For 2 of the 4 repairs they kept our car for a whole week and still we found out immediately it leaked. Finally, we smartened up and contacted GreatYear Automtotive. We called minutes before closing on Dec 23 and spoke with Randy. He told us if we came right away he'd look at it then. We did, barely making it by closing time, and he pulled the inside trim piece back and told us to watch it when it started raining or snowing to see where the leak was coming from as that would save them time and us money. Then he said come back the next day and let him know. We did. On Christmas Eve, no less, he took the time to help us locate the exact locations of the multiple leaks (using water as well as air and foam to find the exact spots) all while we watched. We saw the spots ourselves. And we saw him seal them. He even replaced the taillights as the bulbs were looking a little dark and about to blow. It honestly feels a little like a Christmas miracle. We really thought our Christmas was going to be spent constantly drying the car and worrying about the damage. Everyone else we had contacted wouldn't have even looked at it until well into January and a leak specialist said we had to have a place for him to work, provide a water hose and access to power and still he'd charge us almost as much as we paid GreatYear just to show up. This is definitely our go-to repair shop going forward and we would highly recommend them to anyone else. Everyone was polite and professional. Do yourself a favor and start here!

Didn’t mention on the original review of this post I am 17 as well maybe that’s why he chose to hide it! Used to take my car here for repairs great shop for mechanical work however I bought a used 2004 Porsche Cayenne S the V8 Model for $13,500.00 from Randy in early September 2018, the engine malfunctioned on December 3, 2018... later that night I was googling common issues with the Porsche Cayenne V8 and other various phrases to see what would lead up to the engine just dying on the side of the highway! Next day: I gave Randy a call on Tuesday told him what happened and I asked him if he he had any idea why the engine died after four months of purchasing it he replied he had no idea and was going to Google it and get back to me. He gave me a call couple hours later and said he had no idea that there was a common issue with the 8 cylinder scoring I asked him to give me a quote for repairs, he still has not got back to me this date. Update: I sold the Porsche for scrap and got $1000.00. I called a bunch of shops and they said repairs would be upwards of $8000 Conclusion: I think very well that Randy knew about the issues with these vehicles and just wanted to sell it while it was working to get money I'll definitely overpaid for the vehicle as I should've only paid about $10,000.00 at the most. It should be in every salesman/mechanic interest to research the vehicle before they buy it and sell it which is why I highly believe he knew about the issue. I mean you Google Porsche Cayenne V8 issues the first thing that comes up on every single form "engine failure number eight cylinder"!!!! Be careful if you deal with Randy!

These guys are great! My car needed lots of work done and they walked me through everything and even took me into the shop to physically show me everything under the hood. They did some sample testing right in front of me so I could see each result (ie. transmission oil colour, hydrometer test on the coolant, etc.). I thought that was very genuine. The customer service is great and walks through everything with you. The work that needed to be done added up but before they began the work we walked through what should be prioritized and what I was comfortable with doing first (financially). For what would normally be a very stressful situation, they made it super manageable, and even quite pleasant! They even gave me a loner car to use while the work was being done (which only took them 2 days!). I really appreciate the effort they put in to help out their customers. Thanks so much guys!!
