You will see all the information of real people like you who are buying the products of The Garage - Auto Repair (Tires) in the territory of Nelson (Canada).
At the moment this firm gets a rating of 4.3 out of 5 and this score is based on 61 reviews.
You must have seen that its rating is really positive, and it's based on a high number of feddbacks, so we can think that the assessment is quite credible. If there are many people who bothered to evaluate when they are happy, is that it works.
You know that we don't usually stop to put evaluations when they are good and we usually do it only if we have had a problem or issue...
This Tires is included in the category of Auto repair shop.
Derek at the Garage was super helpful, professional and helped me out big time. I had to get back up North and he had my car going again on time, and within the price quote. Thanks guys, I appreciate it, I’ll recommend you to friends ????
Super helpful when i needed urgent electrical work. Very honest, receptive, and reasonably priced. Great work Derek
Good service! Mechanics were friendly and very helpful.
Best mechanics in tow
We had a breakdown following the long weekend that required replacement of our driveshaft on a large truck. Craig and Kai were quick to fit us in and diagnose the issue when no other shops would. The correct parts were ordered in a timely fashion and we were given updates along the way. The mechanics here have years of experience and are adept at their jobs. I appreciated the "no BS" approach. This team works hard and they will give you honest advice on repairs needed. We were made to feel very welcome and safe as we were stranded for several days waiting for parts. A big thank-you to Craig and his team. I would highly recommend this shop to anybody passing through.
Visiting from the US. They got us in after business hours to help us out before the tribp back home. Friendly. Helpful. Effecient. And didn't cost us a ridiculous amount.
This is a auto repair facility, not a clothing store.
We were travelling when the check engine light came on in our truck. They squeezed us in late on a Friday afternoon, found and fixed the problem, and had us in our way within 90 minutes. Super appreciative!
Exceptional service and price with friendly interaction and timely repair job.
Really great mechanic, super friendly and even stayed back an extra half an hour after close to get me back in the road faster. Good pricing with a fast turnaround and fantastic customer service.
Great service for tire change, it was quick and a good price point. However, car smelled a lot like stale cigarettes afterwards - not so pleasant
Amazing service by Greg and is team. WOW.
correction****automotive repair and service not swim suits and woman's clothing
Craig and his team really helped me out of a jam and deserve more than 5 stars. Thank you for squeezing me in at such short notice.
The mechanics here are honest and they explain what the problems are in detail. They tend to be very busy, so budget extra time, or make arrangements in advance if you don't live in town. Their prices tend to be lower than other places I've been to in Nelson. They understand budget problems and will do work in order of priority, rather than pushing you to get it all done at once. These are great guys who know their jobs well and also understand life. No.bs here.
Was very kind and helpful over the phone. I appreciate it
They make up prices. I told them the issue with my vehicle. Old fuel in tank. Needs to be flushed. He messages me via text saying they did checks and it will be about 400$ on Monday I ask Monday if it’s ready they say 884$ + tax. Without having authorized or being contacted by the shop about these extra charges my estimate went from about 400 to 990$ with tax. I felt sick to my stomach I paid 1000 for the car and would never have agreed to that price. After 20 minutes of pleading my case I had gotten the charges for diagnostics removed but he still charge 61$ for a “minimum shop fee” which is not really a minimum cause I’m already paying over 500. He then says 450 drop fill flush gas tank. He also charges 40 for fuel which is odd because filling is on my invoice twice now. Also they claim to have filled it 40$ it had an eighth of a tank and gas is less than a dollar right now. The tank is 50 L. When confronted about this he claims my gauge may have an issue. Overall just a liar criminal crook. Wouldn’t take my car here for an oil change. If the mechanic is perfectly clean with his clothes and hands it’s dead giveaway he’s not a mechanic he’s a scam artist.
Great and professionnal service! On a beasy day, Craig make room for us and save our vacation! Thanks again!
Shoutout Craig!
Craig and his team managed to fit me in very last minute to repair a problem before I set off on a long drive. They identified and resolved the issue straight away and charged me minimum price! Next time I want something doing, I’m going to the Garage!
Good folks
Nice and accommodating, however ended up charging double what was quoted. Also charged $52 for a bolt that they cut instead of buying a new one.
the mechanic tried to fix a seal on my engine 3 times. i paid 800$ for a $300 job and still had a leak. i ended up fixing the $9 seal myself and the problem is solved.. story is much longer than this but i would recommend going elsewhere
On short notice Craig and his tech fixed a complex braking problem at a great price. He helped when everyone else was too busy Thanks again Carl
Big help when I found myself in need of a repair. Great owner, towing was very reasonable and Derek did a great job getting the van on the road. Pricing was great with no surprises. Cheers!
Crooks and Liars! They made a mistake on a brand new set of winters and when I brought it to be repaired...a screw mysteriously appears in that same tire the mechanic squished the valve stem inside of the hubcab ???? The owner then says he can’t fix it “because it would be illegal” due to the angle ..???? it wasn’t even in the side wall, it was clearly patchable. Then this guy tries to sell me a new tire for more than I originally paid for mine (offering free labour ????) Took my tire back to where I bought it, had it fixed for free and they even found another mysterious screw that the owner failed to see or mention This place is a joke
If you like getting ripped off then this is a great for you..... the owner can't keep his staff... the bill should have been $600.00 and when it was all said and done my bill was $2,200 and they took over two weeks to fix something that should have been done in 4 to 5 hours. DO NOT USE THESE GUYS
The garage and all of the staff are absolutely incredible. I called and they booked me in for the next day when no one else had space or time to consider looking at my car. I had been to 3 other mechanics in the past few months and they couldn't find the issues that they did here. They worked with me to make it the most economical fix and were friendly the entire time. I would highly recommend them and will be back if my car needs to be fixed again.
Really impressed with Craig and his dedication to fixing our starter issue with our JDM Import Van. Also did a great job installing new lights. We'll be back next time we need something ????
Good service, reasonable pricing and honest people. ????
I have brought my vehicle into the garage a number of times this winter for regular services and repairs. My roommates and I have had nothing but professional service, fair pricing, and quality workmanship for all our vehicles. I would highly recommend the garage to anyone.
Super great shop took us in right away with a blown battery. Fair pricing too would highly recommend!
My car died during my vacation. They helped me replace my battery, turned out I needed a new alternator. They ordered it and had it installed the next morning. I was super pleased with the price, service, and how helpful the guys were. Thank you!!
Absolute horrible job done on my Astrovan, brought my van in to get my oil cooler lines switched out as I had a leak. 10 kms after I start driving the transmission starts acting up, shortly after first gear is thrashed. Oil cooler lines cost anywhere from 80-150 dollars and they charged me 280 dollars. Plus ridiculous labour cost amounting a total of 710 dollars. This should have easily been a 300-400 dollar job. Not to mention they ordered the wrong part at first and I had to wait an extra day. Ripped me off, bad service and 3/4 grand fix.
Three weeks ago I made an appointment to do an out-of-province vehicle inspection, which they agreed to do. Last Thursday I dropped off the vehicle as planned, with repeated instructions to do the inspection. Friday about 4 p.m. owner/manager Craig Randall phoned me to say the vehicle needed rear brakes and a front wheel bearing to pass the inspection. Then he explained that his Garage was not yet licensed to do inspections; that it was in process and he had expected to have the process completed by the time I came in. He did not apologize. Feeling stuck, as my insurance binder ran out on Saturday, I instructed him to do the work anyway, and made an appointment with Canadian Tire in Castlegar to do an inspection the following Wednesday. On Tuesday about 4 p.m., while completing the wheel bearing and brakes, Craig texted me that more work would have to be done (front shocks and one ball joint) to pass the inspection at Cdn Tire, and that he could do it for an additional $500 or so. I declined, as I did not trust him at this point. The next day the mechanic at Cdn Tire passed these items just fine. Craig ended up apologizing and said he wouldn't do this again. The next day, a friend of mine called The Garage and asked if they could do an out-of-province vehicle inspection, and they hedged a bit but essentially said they would do it. If they had been honest, I wouldn't be writing this review.
Quick friendly service, reasonably priced. Will go again. Thanks
we are working effectively to ensure safety
Last year, after doing a road trip around BC, my partner and I unfortunately copped a dead alternator in Nelson, only a couple hours out of our eventual destination/home for the winter, Fernie. After ringing around to the other mechanics in town to see if anyone could get us in for a replacement, we were pretty consistently told there was a minimum 2-week wait for any car repairs across town as it was the time of year when everyone was swapping from summer to winter tires, and everywhere was booked out. After explaining the situation to the guys at the Garage, not only did they get us booked in, they actually called a few of their regular customers and asked to push their tire swap appointments a couple days, to make sure we could get back on the road as soon as possible. Our alternator died on a Friday- we were back in Fernie the next Tuesday, 4 days later. We were so grateful for the service we received at the Garage, and absolutely couldn't recommend these guys more- we've sent a few friends who've had car trouble in Nelson their way as well.
Always ready to go help
Visiting from out of town and I noticed what I thought might be a coolant leak. The mechanic was super friendly and immediately walked out to my car to diagnose the problem. Turned out it was nothing. Thank you!
They got the job done but ended up costing a lot more than they said it would. They charged me 3 hours more labor then they quoted and then marked up the spring shackles 400%. I was disappointed to discover later that they never replaced the $20 bushings on the springs they changed when they had the suspension ripped apart, I kind of assumed that they would've changed them. There shop rate is pretty high for the workmanship. I would probably have used these guys again but for more of a backyard mechanic wage, not dealership pricing.
Description on this ad is wrong, not a womens clothing store, an awesome mechanics shop! Couple of great guys doing amazing work! I will always bring my vehicles here!
Super unfriendly, rude and arrogant. Don't know how to do business.
Always the best service and repairs to my truck. Only shop I go to.
A huge thank you to The Garage, and specifically Carson! You saved our vacation (and maybe our lives?). We drove in from out of town, with a mysterious thumping sound and shudder. Worried about what it might be, we took it in to The Garage to get checked out. Carson very quickly determined that all the lug nuts on the driver’s side wheel were VERY loose. This could have ended in disaster. But instead they fixed it up in no time at all, and for a very reasonable price. Friendly and honest service!
Do not trust The Garage one bit. I recently just won a Civil Tribunal Case against them for unauthorized work. The owner is purposely deceitful in the way he operates and tries to manipulate you into parting with your money. As the other reviews say, crooks and liars. To make matters worse he is refusing to pay even though the BC Civil Tribunal has rightfully awarded me a refund, sighting the fact that he doesn’t have a leg to stand on when I spoke to him, as you simply can’t do work without the customers permission. This only goes to show you what type of character he is if simply refuses to pay, a person with no integrity. I shall be providing regular updates to their review pages, so stay tuned if you’re still considering going here. There are much better garage choices in Nelson, for example Downtown Automotive for high quality service and Kootenay motors for low cost service. Simply avoid any stress and pain buy avoiding The Garage at all costs.
My truck started having transmission problems and I needed it fixed asap for work. They got me in quickly and fixed it. It was a BIG job working through the rust and multiple problems that came up. Big thanks to Carson, I will be back!
Big thanks to Craig and the rest of his team for getting back on the road after a Big break down during my road trip vacation. They got me going as fast as they could, just a few days, when every other shop in town wouldn't even make an effort to even look at the vehicle for over a week and half. Can't thank you enough for saving my vacation! Highly recommended, friendly honest service.
We had a few unexpected issues with a recently repaired car, and the guys at The Garage went more than the extra mile to accommodate us and help resolve the car troubles. They are courteous and very knowledgeable. I would not hesitate to recommend them anytime. Thanks guys! Gabi ( It's disappointing to edit the review, which was initially good. They did a major repair on the car, which we thought was all that was needed. We are not Nelson residents and the alternator quit on the way home, so we had to have an extended stay there for the second unexpected repair. We were grateful to finally get home after two separate repairs that had to be done, and we posted the first review. . However after being back home for just a week, we noticed there was slow oil drip, but couldn't get the car into our regular mechanic here to do a diagnostic till Jan., Seems that there is oil leak happening that shouldn't be if the initial work had been done properly. Perhaps someone was not that knowledgeable. Not good for the engine now with oil leaking on it. We contacted The Garage several weeks ago, to give them an opportunity to try and come to a compromise to get the issue fixed up somehow. They said they would follow up, but they haven't. No way to do good business guys.)
Always accommodating, great service and good workmanship. They show you the parts they had to replace so you know what was wrong with them. They are reasonable.
I have worked in, and been a customer of many auto shops over the years and there is a reason I reccomend and often bring my business to The Garage. Their mechanics are top notch and it shows in their work. With rates below the industry norm and friendly, accommodating management, this shop is one of the best in the Kootenays.
