I have only good things to say about this shop. They have wonderful customer service and a well organized way of showing exactly what they’ve done and how through their online platform. Pretty cool! They also stayed true to their estimate and didn’t charge me extra even though they had to spend more time on my vehicle! Definitely got me hooked to come back :)

I am 100% satisfied with their service. This is amazing. First time in my life I had a repair shop to torque all of the components to specifics of the manufacturer! I have Mk 7 Golf myself, and if you have any euro vehicle, I would recommend to go here for a service. Don’t spend your time trying to look for better service in town. This is by far one of the best in B.C. These guys value their business and care about their customer. 10/10 lug nuts, you got yourself a regular customer:)

Downtown Automotive in Nelson went above and beyond with taking care of an urgent issue with my truck so quickly (when some other shops were booking a month and a half away). I’m in awe with how amazing their customer service is, how up to date their whole inspection/point of sale system is, and how much they actually care and look over everything to make sure everything is safe. I HIGHLY recommend going there if you need any work on your vehicles. ????????

Downtown Automotive was recommended to me by the local Kal Tire shop when I asked them to install a lift-kit on my Tesla Model 3 from Mountain Pass Performance. DA reviewed the kit and instructions and determined this was a project they could take on. They provided me realistic timelines to get the job done and were able to provide me a courtesy car (an EV no less!) to use in the meantime. A comprehensive inspection report was also provided for added piece of mind. Thanks Tom and Doug!

Being new to Nelson, we were looking for a new place to service our vehicles after moving away from our old dealership. Choosing Downtown Automotive was a great choice and after multiple appointments, we are still extremely satisfied with the service. I was shocked when I picked up my car after getting tires put on and the interior had been cleaned and wiped down. It is reasonably priced and the extra effort and care is worth every penny. These extra details are something we never experienced at our previous service shop and we are very impressed. We will continue to bring all our vehicles here and recommend it to anyone needed their services.

I really like that then provide a digital inspection, which then send to you for review before any repairs By seeing the pictures you can make a decision if you would like to do the repairs. Doug and his team are always super patient and clear when answering questions or telling me what's going on in my truck. They are realistic and reasonable and have given me an accurate picture of what they've fixed and what future steps they recommend for maintenance. I appreciate that they manage to squeeze me in for repairs when I need assistance. Mostly, I like that they never seem to be in a hurry when discussing my vehicle and I can never seem to ask too many silly questions!

I booked my first appointment for next May and they accommodated me. Mike wanted to see what oil filter I had so they could give me a quote. The visual inspection revealed lots more work to be done. Very thorough, but very expensive.

They make is easy to understand any issues your car may have and how to deal with them correctly. Got a flat tire Friday PM and DT Auto fixed it within the hour right before closing. Service is great here. The front line staff are professional and knowledgeable. They listen, explain, accommodate, and just generally provide excellent customer service. The shop incorporates a lot of digital technology and uses it to communicate with clients and provide records. Inspection reports are provided with pictures, descriptions, videos, web links. Ive been to this shop for regular maintenance and for a few odd duck repairs for which they’ve gone above and beyond. All in all, the staff here care and show a true commitment to providing good service. I highly recommend.

Took the Jeep in to get the transmission pan and gasket fix. But when they looked closer, they found the link in the transmission line. Told us about it. And it saved us about $200. Honest and professional. Can't ask for more than that! Great job guys.

I went to Downtown Automotive for a second opinion on service work that was recommended by another shop and the entire team was awesome! Their inspections are super thorough (they send an email report that includes photographs of everything they note, ordered by priority) and did a follow-up call to ensure I understood the inspection fully. They found a few critical issues that were missed earlier...some that impacted my safety on the road! They also noted items that could be held-off for a later date so that their work was more cost-effective. I've often experienced a bit of "attitude" from auto shops due to my lack (or perceived lack) of knowledge. But not here. Doug and his team were considerate, warm, and more than willing to work with me every step of the way. I highly recommend taking your vehicle here.

I brought my vehicle in for general maintenance and left with a flat tire. They wouldn’t take responsibility for it. The car was driven for less than 5 minutes after leaving the shop. It was not flat when I brought it in. Prior to this experience, I had very good service and I hope this was a one off mistake.Update: The owner later offered to pay for the tire repair to make it right.

I'm a landscape business owner who hasn't been the best caretaker of trucks. Poor approach. My business requires a reliable vehicle and a trustworthy group of professionals to keep it that way. Instead, I dropped the ball. I glued band-aids on the old beast and expected my workhorse to hobble along. Nothing can be more ill-planned. Vehicles never fix themselves. One needs a top-notch crew to be in the pit for you and keep the components of a complex machine operating in harmony, or expect to find your enterprise smoking on the side of the road while your customers look for others to fill in the gap. Thankfully, Downtown Automotive spoke candidly and honestly to me about the importance of doing it right, and has likely saved me thousands of dollars in down work time. Put a budget aside. Care for your fleet. From the moment I walked through the door to driving off the lot, I can't think of a single full-service automotive team like Downtown Automotive that commits to integrity, trust, and the very best service when caring for one's vehicle. My business is better off because of these guys. Trust them. Use them. Rely on them. Lesson learned.

I took my car in for new brakes and rotors.. they were friendly and kept me informed. A few days later I heard and felt something really wrong with my brake. I called to let them know but was told I had to wait another week to get it in. My car really wasn’t working properly so I got my boyfriend to check it out and it turned out that the installation of the brake was not complete, one of the bolts was not fastened... I called Doug and he got me to bring it in right away. He was very apologetic and not only fixed the problem but went above and beyond and changed my oil, did a shampoo maintenance, topped up all the other fluids and cleaned the interior. A really great story in service recovery.... I left extra happy and satisfied after a not great situation (by the way I have bad luck with mechanics, something always seems to go wrong with me). I will go back to Downtown Automotive????

I liked the full transparency. I got a work order and cost estimate emailed to me the day before I dropped off my car. When they had a look, they found a cheaper way to fix the car than they originally estimated and so my cost was lower than the original quote. Good, honest and quick work. I won't hesitate to use this shop int the future.
