I have never posted a negative review before. I often think that people will figure out if a place is right for them or not. However after today. I feel very differently about this. I left Ellis Automotive today crying and upset humiliated by the person at the desk who I think is the manager or owner. He was aggressive and confrontational with me and insinuated that I am somehow personally at fault for the way the Ontario government "forces" small businesses to do their taxes. I would never ever recommend this garage to anyone who is Native or uses their status card for a PST tax exemption at the point of sale (which is a legal and agreed upon provincial legislation). While this small business owner may not like the way the Ontario government regulates its tax collections and refunds process and he may not like the "hassle" of the paper work his shop needs to do to receive a refund for said exemption, it has absolutely no bearing on how he should treat another person, or providing good customer services and mostly does not permit the owner to humiliate and harangue a paying customer. I cannot control how taxes are paid or refunded at point of sale, but clearly this person felt that I needed to "hear it" yet again. It is also clear that he cannot control his own remarkably racially motivated tirades for a customer let alone for the sake of a native woman who just wanted to get her car fixed. When I asked for my key and left without taking a receipt from the woman who witnessed all of this at the counted, I came back into the shop because my car smelled strongly of cigarette smoke. I don
t smoke and no around me smokes as I have allergies and it gives me a headache and makes me cough. So, I returned into the shop and said that someone had smoked in my car. The mechanic swears he didn't smoke in my car,. I said someone smoked in my car. They denied it and I finally left upset and crying. Not a return customer!! Feel sick that I ever paid a dime let alone thousands to this person's shop.
