Would only recommend this place to my enemies. I got a call the morning of my tire change to be told that a) the tires I had ordered ahead of time were no longer in stock, the tire options I was given as an alternative were all priced higher than the tires I had asked for and b) they had forgotten about my appointment, so they could try to squeeze me in during the day. At this time the appointment time was changed from 2:30 PM to 1:00 PM. I showed up with my car at 12:45 PM, however, my car wasn’t even taken into the shop until after 2:00 PM.
By 3:00 PM the car was ‘ready’. I hopped into it, drove it for two blocks before everything started to clunk and my front left tire became dislodged. After parking my car I realized that whomever was working on my car hadn’t tightened the bolts on my front left tire and they were scattered up and down the street.
I walked the two blocks back to SK Autotec where I explained my situation to an employee named Sam who just shrugged and said: “It happens sometimes”. Frustrated I replied that in all of my years of driving a car this has never happened. Another employee named Fred came out to assist me and we went back to my car. Along the way we were able to find 3 of the 4 bolts that had come out, and Sam managed to find the fourth one. I’m unsure of the extent of the damage that this has done to my car (will be taking it into the dealership that I bought it from to find out) however the inside of the rim is scratched up.
After Fred had finished putting the front left tire back on I asked him to check the other tires, which he did. 3 of the 4 tires did not have the bolts properly put on or tightened. Meanwhile Sam still continues to shrug and go “It happens sometimes.”
In my opinion this is gross negligence as I, or my partner or my infant child could have been seriously hurt or worse if the tire had happened to dislodge on the highway or any busy street. I was lucky in this situation, but not everyone may share the same luck as me. You’re taking a chance on your life if you trust the tech’s at SK Autotec.
**EDIT** Since posting this complaint to Facebook one of their sales reps has been name-calling and threatening me via Facebook as well. Another reason to avoid at all costs.
