Owner is very friendly and helped me get winter tires for my car. When I went to get them installed it turned out they didn't order the correct rims. This was very frustrating because I don't live in town and wouldn't be able to come back for a week. The attendent called the ower right away and told him about the situation. He was very friendly and told me he would re-order the tires and rims. At least he was honest and didnt blame anyone for thier mistake. When I went in a week later to get the tires and rims put on the car I was pleasantly surprised. Originally I just asked for steel rims but they absorbed the cost and I got aluminum rims. Really apprecaite everything they did for me.

A few years ago at my Guelph location they had flushed the cooling system and as a result my temperature sensor stopped working, they re-did the service and also tried a couple other fixes and ultimately paid for my thermostat replacement. I was VERY IMPRESSED as I has assumed that they could have easily just threw their hands up in the air(as I have experienced elsewhere), and said 'not my problem' but NO - they kept pleasantly and quickly working with me until I was happy. Top Notch service and customer respect - these guys are excellent !

I went in to get a transmission flush, and Dylan alerted me I had a leak on my transmission lines. I have to say , many quick lube type buisnesses would have done the flush and moved on . He was honest and I was able to go and get my lines fixed . I will bring my car to this location going forward for all my cars fluids needs . I've been a customer for this location for as long as I've been driving my Standard--about 6-7 years now? Idk, it's on my file somewhere. I've always had an excellent experience. The staff are fantastic, friendly and work efficiently. Today, I feel like I got the royal treatment. I needed my breaks done, but I had to get to work and wouldn't have time to take care of it before a road trip next week, so they drove me to work! Best service place I've ever been to for my baby. Got brakes from here and they put on the cheapest brakes going. Not only that but the underlying problem to my brake issues were the shoes and they just slapped new pads and rotors on there without even noticing or acknowledging the leaking brake fluid and cracked shoes. Additionally, I am currently getting an oil change elsewhere and it turns out they took my air filter out and forgot to put a new one in???

Not only did they break my dip stick, they charged me for synthetic oil change which I actually did not receive. They used conventional oil and almost ruined my engine. I had to pay for a new oil change and an engine flush elsewhere. The oil filter they put in was not a legitimate oil filter. They tried to up sell me every item imaginable which I refused multiple times. They checked off that they filled out washing fluid etc. but definitely did not. They also checked that they filled up the power steering fluid but did not do it. The oil change wasn´t even cheaper than at other places – do yourself a huge favor and never, ever go here. Go anywhere else where they actually know what they are doing.

I took my car in for an oil change. When it was done they showed me that there was oil on the engine cylinders and they wanted to take a look and fix the leak. Instead of letting them look I took it to my regular mechanic and the revealed there was no leak, instead oil was spilt on to the engine cylinders to look like there was a leak.... I get want to make money but when you lying to someone that is relying on your expertise and in a position on venerability is very unethical. Safe to say I will not be returning

They are a scam. I went in to get an oil change, they told me that the transmission was leaking. They charged me $100 to prevent the leak. I went to my mechanic a week later and he said there isn't a leak in the transmission. Don't recommend.

I was worried about this place because of a television show I watched called Marketplace about 8 years ago. A lot of customers were getting fraudulent service and undercover customers exposed them. They seem honest today and I saw with my own eyes the transmission fluid changed but I didn't see the coolant flush performed but ill check it later. Friendly service The service people there weren't wearing a mask and not following covid protocols. They should be concerned about this.

Last year I bought two sets of winter tires and they gave me a great deal, were very kind throughout and explained to me everything they were doing. What a great experience I have gotten from Economy Lube!!! It is definitely my to go place for tires, oil change or any minors they do. Very welcoming workers even the managers David and Dylan! They will not give you the run around or rip you off! They will make customers happy and find great deals to suit your needs for your vehicle! No negative thoughts they will try to communicate and give details before doing the work. They make you feel welcome provides drinks while you wait at no cost and I am deaf they don’t judge us will make effort to communicate. Staff were delight to deal with, but AFTER 5 MONTHS of my oil change, I noticed a leak on my driveway and took it to the dealership to get checked out. and it turns out that they spilled oil all over the engine and car parts and never cleaned it up. they ALSO failed to change the oil FILTER which Is standard practise as a part of an oil change, I also paid for it. Now I have to pay $300 to get all the parts cleaned up. They also dented my car frame because when they were lifting my car it wasn't placed properly. ( I bought tires from them as well and had it installed). If I knew they would dent my car frame, I wouldn't have asked them to change my tires. now I have to live with the Idea of having my dream car dented because of a rookie mistake. I'm so disappointed with them. they seemed nice. EDIT: I'm attaching images to prove what happened. I went there because of all the good comments in here, but now I'm warning you, don't be fooled.

They didn’t put my oil cap back on after an oil change , which almost set my car on fire when I was driving through Michigan. It cost me a bunch of money to have my car towed, engine cleaned and then another oil change. After a couple of phone calls, I did talk to the manager about what happened, but then I was ignored. No calls back or emails replied to. Mistakes happen, but at least an apology and a refund should have been done, no? ????

If you are going to read just one truthful review on this place, I really hope it is this one! Here is what you need to know about me: I live in Oakville and work in Guelph part time, so I drive a decent amount. I am really frugal when it comes to work on my 2002 Hyundai Elantra. I have gotten by with just oil changes for years and I am not going to be easily sold on unnecessary fluid changes. I usually go to a mechanic for major repairs (engine, brakes, exhaust etc.) but I always procrastinate on this work. (I really don’t want to put money into this car, because I expect it to go to a junkyard in the near future) Most importantly, when I go into an auto repair shop, I know that I am not there for their coffee or paper - I want to see good work completed for a good price! I have watched the CBC Marketplace documentary on this chain and have tried dealerships, mechanics and quick oil change places in the past. So, I visited Economy Lube with a healthy level of skepticism, a decent knowledge of general repair costs, and an eagerness to walk out of there with the least amount of work done. I have been to this shop three times now. The first time was in June 2015 for a basic $30 oil change. I ended up changing my power steering fluid too (I had been topping it up and it was making lots of noise) and they gave me a good deal as it was my first visit to their shop. The second time was on Wednesday, Oct 14, for a basic $30 oil change again. The mechanic noticed that my tires were in really bad shape (full of cracks with little tread – just dangerous) and told me that they sell and install tires there. I was very hesitant since I planned to go to a shop or do it myself, and I didn’t know much about tires. I asked to see the tires, and they looked decent (brand new tires but never heard of the name before - LEAO Lion Sport UHP). The mechanics quoted me a good price, but I was still unsure. I also had to change my transmission fluid (haven’t changed it for last 35k). They made me an unbelievable deal on all the work (oil, all-season tires and transmission fluid). So, I got all that done. Today, with some research and asking for a few opinions, I am still very happy with that deal. The third time I went there was on Friday, Oct 16 for a quick reference for a local shop to get some brake work done. My plan was to get at least 5 references and quotes, do some research and make a decision over the weekend. I also had 3 quotes so far on this work from repair shops in Oakville and Mississauga, so I had a general idea of the costs. The mechanics (same guys I had met on Wednesday) told me that they do brake work at Economy Lube itself. I have never done, or planned to do, major repairs at such a place. The mechanic gave me an extremely generous quote on the brake pads, and told me that I should get the rotors changed too. I was hesitant at first, but decided to go ahead with the work. When I went to pick up my car, I was surprised and delighted to see that the labour charges that the mechanic had quoted me was the same number on my bill. This was just unbelievable! They had done more work than they had quoted me, but had only charged me for the parts and not the additional labour. They had billed me for services completed, not some inflated hourly rate! They had also not added on any additional services (like a brake fluid flush or tire re-alignment). I will tell you that my total bill was less than half of the quotes that I had received for the same work from the other places! I have driven a fair bit since Friday, and am very happy with their work! If you are looking for great prices, honest work and excellent customer service, I would highly recommend this Economy Lube on Gordon Street in Guelph, ON. I don’t feel that the negative publicity that they have received from the CBC Marketplace documentary is warranted, and my experience with the employees at this location has been simply wonderful. Google asks me what I liked about it. And not a darn thing. For anyone who's looking to get work done on their vehicle. We just had the most hostile and inconvenient experience at economy lube. After 4 vehicles of ours getting new tires and the works done, only to find that when my girlfriend goes to get her tires changed they changed her battery too with out notifying her. They told her she needed a new battery and that her car wasn't going to run with the one in it. She was told they would order the new battery for her, she was okay with that so she could get it checked by our mechanic first. But after waiting for a lengthy time they came to her with bill in hand saying the battery is already in and ready to go. Unfortunately I wasn't there to say that the other battery was basically new, this doesn't seem right. So I came back to talk with them about this disservice that has occurred and I only got swear words, hostility and absolutely a complete lack of customer service. I recommend absolutely no one to go because there's a scam somewhere.

I've done my oil changes here for over a year despite Econo Lube getting caught on camera scamming customers by NOT actually changing the fluids they charged people for... so I've always watched carefully, but they still managed to miss changing the oil filter on one of the visits! But now you can't even purchase the basic $20 oil change anymore! They lie to customers telling them that they need the more expensive 10W30 oil change for "warranty" reasons. My brakes were worn out! My regular mechanic could only get me get me an appointment 2 days after. This was a big safety issue. I Googled any brake repair shop remembered I see Economy Lube and drove there. David was very welcoming, told me to hand keys over, he would call after working on the cars ahead of mine. By the time he called I expected the worst pricing. He gave me honest assessment and pricing. He gave me discount. Go ahead I said. When I collected the car he gave me a total discount of $200 the drive after was excellent. I recommend this workshop!

They put the oil filter on too tight, obvi not with a torque wrench and now it can not be removed without breaking it. I'll have to go to auto repair shop now. More expensive compared to other places. Never again to this location.

I went there to change my winter tires. They charge $40 for the ones already on rim but they don't balance them and they asked more money to do that. Many places change and balance tires on rim for $50. One more thing, I asked them if they change my oil if I bring my own oil and they said NO! I won't go there anymore. As a woman, I'm often apprehensive about entering a new establishment to take care of my vehicle for two reasons - I'm either told I need more work done than I actually do or get called things like "sweetie" while trying to get upsold on things I don't need. Every staff member I have interacted with has been respectful, friendly and accommodating. Dylan is a straight-up trustworthy guy. He runs an honest business and will tell me what needs to be done and what can wait. He's always treated me extremely well since I first brought my truck in (over 6 years ago!) I appreciate being able to go in, ask them to take care of my baby and know that it will be done right. No over quotes, no extra work, no "problems" that they found that I didn't know about. If I have questions about something I've been told, Dylan will show me what's going on. Super great guys. Please stop rating this place based on YouTube videos you've seen about the franchise.

My partner went to this place because it was convenient having a young child and the park close by while they waited. She returned to find they wanted to perform a coolant flush and brake job, trying to say the car was barely safe to drive trying to scare someone who knows little about cars. We had a check engine light appear a few days later and she took it to the dealership to have them diagnose she asked them about the issues found at economy lube but there were no issues, brakes have 70% life still and coolant was fine. It would have been $1000 in unnecessary "repairs". Rip off alert here!!!

BEWARE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I went to get a tire replaced with a nail puncture in the tread. SImple fix. First thing manager tries to do is sell me new tire, wipers and everything else. I say I just want the tire fixed. He takes tire and disappears. He calls me in five minutes later and shows me tire with a hole in the sidewall. He claims my tire was punctured through two points. My tire is now permanently damaged. However guess who has lots of new tires will give me a deal on a brand new set???? This guy and his worker both seemed as shady as hell. Went for a full synthetic oil change only. This business made a huge mess with oil everywhere, removed engine cover for no reason then couldnt get it back on so just set oil cap on top !! Also had loose oil filter and left cover on underside of car hanging. If speedy service sacrifices quality then maybe they should hire people who know what there doing. So I took my car for a synthetic oil change last week. It's about 5km from my house. I drive into the bay and get the synthetic oil change. Of course during the oil change They push all the upsells and such like air filter cabin filter and such. But this was the first time I've was offered an oil change and undercoating for 100. Which was really a good offer and something so absurd. I should have known a synthetic oil change and rust proofing below $ 100 was just too good to be true. Now you are wondering how is this a scam? Well for start a good synthetic oil change at other places are $80 and rust proofing cost cost around the same ball park. Second, I had to go for oil change again!!! I still had 4000 Kms and three more months to go according to there own sticker. Well, I had go for a oil change again today. My car makes a weird sound when my oil is due and is bang on. Checked the dip stick - had literally no oil. If you work for the company - I have pictures as proof of your scam. Can’t believe you guys get away those. Honestly- after speaking to ppl about this and there experience - how are they still in business? If you work for them - then WOW!!!! I won't be returning there soon and warning about these guys. Seriously, stay away from this place.

Please do not go here. When I left after my oil change, my car started making a weird noise whenever I hit the gas. I returned minutes after leaving, explained to the machanic that my car was now making noises.. he just said “okay..” and I had to further explain that it wasn’t making the noise before. The machanic sighed and without saying anything brought it back into the shop. He returned 5 minutes later and just yelled “accent ready” and walked away. No apology, no addressing what happened. Although it’s cheaper, it is not worth it if something happens to your car.

So my check engine light comes on saying I need to top up my engine coolant. Its after 6:30pm, so Dylan the manager is closing up shop and about to turn off the lights. I come knocking on the front door and state my case. He's more than happy to help and goes in the back to grab a bottle of coolant. Ends up being the last bottle of BMW OEM coolant the guy has. Instead of charging me he just gives me the bottle. The thing is $20 and he just let me have it cause I was in a pinch. These guys are friggin sweet. I just wanted an oil change! I'm a pleasant, polite person! Employees should not roll their eyes or scoff at customers who misunderstand or have questions. They certainly shouldn't, when this behaviour is noted, say, 'I don't know what your problem is. You just took out the wrong way.' If you have any questions about the services offered or if you're female, go elsewhere! Changing oil isn't rocket science. Tried to tell me need transmission fluid change by showing me used oil n a coffee cup. i changed the transmission fluid myself less than a month ago (CVT no flush necessary just a straight change). Two totally different colours and threw metal to make it look crucial...my car has a magnetic plug...if it had that much metal I would have had to push it in!

I never post reviews, but Guelph Economy Lube has earned one. Excellent service, very friendly, brought me right in and had my oil changed in minutes. Asked me if I was planning to get the underside of my car rust proofed, which I had been planning to do before the winter (It's been in dire need of it.) They did it for me on the spot for a great price and threw in the oil change for free. Definitely going back in the future.

Long time ago... I went here for an oil change. They convinced me to do a collant flush, not a huge deal, was all gunked up with stopleak anyways. Couple days down the road, I cracked open my radiatior.... Lone behold the fluid looked like poop. You MAY have CHANGED the fluid, but there is a 0% chance you FLUSHED the system. My guess... they pumped out the resovoir and replaced the fluid in there and that's all. Either way lost a customer for life, regardless of owner. Or location for that matter. --> What kind of an owner calls someone a troll for saying that you are a scam? Probably one that has to defend himself because you are actually a sham operation.

I needed an oil change before a road trip years ago and popped in simply because it was convenient. Since then, I have never gone anywhere else. Oil changes were always a little stressful because I knew I was in for a bunch of up selling and would have to figure out what was real and what wasn't. At this location, I don't feel that pressure - they make suggestions but don't push. They tell you if it's something that can wait, they only do an oil change and don't upsell if your car doesn't need anything else. The store's Manager is friendly and helpful - he'll go out of his way to make your experience a good one. I would recommend this location to anyone looking for a fast, friendly, pressure free experience. - Kim

Oil started leaking after got oil changed at this place; took it back a few weeks after, they said it was their mistake and they said they fixed the issue and did another oil change. However the oil leaking didn’t stop they repeated the same mistake. Took my car to another place and they showed me that the lid at oil tank was left loose by economy lube causing oil leak and potentially might have caused other problem. Never ???? recommend this place.

Went in for an oil change. While I was there they told me my back brakes needed replacement “metal on metal” and they could do the work right away. I didn’t have time then, so later that week I took it to my regular mechanic. He said the brakes were fine and the pads had plenty of life left.

I hate giving bad reviews, but want other consumers to be aware. We came in for an oil change as we had concerns as our check engine light was on. They did the oil change and said there was no problem, it was just an electrical issue but our tires needed replacing. We took their advice to get the tires replaced but when we returned it wasn't completed properly and we still have to go elsewhere to have the job completed. The next day while on a road trip, the car stopped completely and massive engine changes were needed. I think that the guys at Economy tried to be helpful but they gave us questionable advice re the tires and missed the real issue that caused massive problems. Just be cautious, this wasn't a good experience unfortunately.

I had a completely flat tire this evening and, on a very busy Friday night, the guys at Economy Lube NOT ONLY fixed the tire, but put it back on AND put my spare away... for free. I TRIED to give the lovely guy who helped me money, and he wouldn't take it. As a young woman, who doesn't know a whole lot about cars, going to get work done on your car can be pretty stressful. You're always told to be wary of guys trying to take advantage, and this experience was so far from that I actually started crying on my way home. Truly professional, efficient, honest people; I will not take my car anywhere else now. Thanks guys, you are a really solid crew and I will be telling everyone to go to you.

WARNING SCAMMERs! I called to ask for them to switch my tires (not on rims) , they said yeah that not a problem come over 130$ on most cars. When I get there they said they cannot do it today unless i buy their rims for 300$ but they wont do it with my own rims . Wasted my time.
