First they put the wrong tires on, then after we called and let them know (the same day) they told us they had the proper ones and we could exchange them for no extra cost. 4 days later we wake up early to wait in line again just to be told that they don’t know who we spoke with but the tires are infact not in stock and we would have to get them ordered. After waiting an extra week, they allow us to drop our car off over night so they can do the change in the morning. At drop off, they attempted to bill me for the new tires, we asked them to keep the keys in the car because we couldn’t get there until they were closed to pick up the car, they agreed. 5 minutes before close we get a voicemail stating that they close in 5 and we need to get there before in order to get our keys. After calling 4 times and being forwarded to voice mail, we make it to the store in a rush, only for them to try and bill us AGAIN. By far the most work for Winter tires to be put on. They wouldn’t even allow us to make an appointment for them to fix their own mistake. Terrible customer service, and apparently terrible knowledge.

"Store your tires here" ...If you never want to see them again. I stored my tires here and they were lost- twice. Each time it took me months to get answers or any kind of help-- they would tell me they'd call me back, and then I would never hear from them. I understand completely that mistakes happen. The fact that I had the bad luck of my tires going missing twice isn't the big issue for me-- it is how they dealt with it and treated me in the process. Not once did I feel like there were any apologetics or any push to resolve the issue. The men I dealt with were smug and insensitive-- they made me feel as though I was a huge annoyance. Obviously something needs to change in how things are handled behind the scenes there, as well as with the men who are dealing with the customers at the desks. Worst customer service I have ever experienced.

I had debris caught between my aluminum rim and my tire causing it to slowly leak which they cleaned out for about $35. They inflated my other tires too without my asking, which was nice. The price was fair enough and the front desk staff was friendly, however despite being pretty much dead it took a relatively long time and they kept confusing me with another customer. Either way, a week later my tire is still fully inflated, which is good.

I have at 2011 Audi Q7 that needed to have new rubber after 45k. I ordered a set of Pirelli Scorpion tires from Dettmer Tire on Eramosa Rd. I was told I would get a call when they arrived. After a day or so I checked myself and they had arrived but no one called. I bring the vehicle in to have the tires changed. The mechanic is filthy and he gets into my vehicle without any protection put on the seats etc. After the tires have been installed I received the vehicle back with grease and road dirt on my dash, glove box, passenger seat and the drivers side door. I also notice that they have scratched the passenger side door by leaning something against it while on the hoist. I ask the guy behind the desk to resolve the scratch issue....he tries his best with some of their wax and tells me .....SORRY ABOUT THAT! I will never return to this tire shop again and I am telling everyone who will listen about their poor service. Don't bring a vehicle you care about to this shop!

Once they found our tires on rims in storage, job was done quickly but the fact I had changed to summer tire at Cork St. Address confounded your system and they sent me home saying they couldn't find our wheels! I went home, they were not there so I phoned back and told them I am sure they are instigate and we had it done at Cork st. Centre. They acknowledged they found them so I came all the way back. What should have been done by 10:00 was done by 12:15 instead - time is money. They kindly repaired a winter tire they found a screw embedded in and balance the wheels, and did not charge me. That was kind, and great customer service for thanks for that. We always come to Dettmer but my office used to be located at Royal Plaza downtown, so obvious choice for such wheel changing - not there any more. You system should ID with customer name with either a C or an E showing where tires/wheels were changed so this won't happen again to somebody else, simple software addition or code beside car owners name or car type. Thanks

EXtremely competitive prices and fine work quality but ... during busy times (especially November/December) you need to drop your car off the night before, or line up at 7am (as I found out at 9am today. I wish they had explained that when I was there ordering the alloy wheels/tires a few weeks ago.) They do not work by appointment. (They do stock a lot of tires but not the ones I wanted.) Definitely not fancy premises: "early tire warehouse" feel. This is the fourth set of tires I have bought here for our two cars and I have always been satisfied with the price and the work. But perhaps it's time for Dettmer's to upgrade the store front and instil more of a slick customer service mentality to the guys on the desks. Dec. 2018 update: I bought 4 snow tires for my wife's CRV. The price for the best Brigestone ws80 was surprisingly reasonable. The rest of my review is fine as is.

TL;DR: Better prices than Canadian Tire generally. Maybe got unlucky with Supplier shipment issues or maybe Dettmer dropped the ball on my order. Too busy to call me to say my tires came in (bad weather was upon us and they were in their peak season mode). Lost two days of work to get my tires on (one I assumed wrongly, another day-of to get this over with). They did have satisfactory customer service, and were generally pleasant. Made sure I was able to get my rebate from the supplier for buying new tires. On this experience I would give 2 stars, but if I were to have asked for new tires even 1 week prior to when I did, it would have been a good experience. 4 stars, probably. Details: Overall, ok experience with these guys. Bought 4 brand new winter tires a week or so before the first big snow hit, and was told they would come in on the following Monday/Tuesday. When I went in on he Tuesday, apparently my tires weren't being shipped from the parent company, and Dettmer told me that they don't know when they will come. Getting into the first snow storm, they became over-run with demands, so I can't fault them for that, but another week went by before I CALLED THEM hoping that my tires would be in. Thankfully, they did come in a few days prior, though I was never called. Luckily again, I could take the day off and drop off my vehicle for the day, and they managed to get my tires on my rims by closing time. The guys were nice when I was there, so in terms of customer service they seemed quite satisfactory. During the checkout process the clerk did make sure I had the right info in their system to get my Promo Rebate from the supplier company, which softened my gripes with this experience.

I bought a set of new Michelin tire in May this year. In Nov. I notice one tire was flat so I brought my car to the shop. They fixed it and charged me almost forty bucks. They told me the rim caused the issue and the tire was OK. Why didn''t they fix it when they installed my new tires? This is how they make money from customers. After they fixed my tire, on the next day, when I drove on 401, I noticed my car was hard to control. I pulled over and checked my tires. It turned out they forgot to adjust the tire pressure after they pumped it. My wife was literally at risk because of their mistake.

On April 9, 2018 my wife and I purchased new tires from Dettmer Tires. Initially we were quite impressed with Dettmer and the professionalism that their sales people and technicians presented. Within less than one week we were proven so wrong. We own a 2011 Volvo S40 T5 and when we purchased it we opted to purchase the four lock nuts to go on the car when the summer mag rims were installed to guard against theft. It is quite clearly stated on the Dettmer invoice to bring your car back 60 to 90 Kilometers after initial installation to have the wheel lugs re-torqued. This is a mere ten minute procedure meant to ensure safety and it is a service most tire shops offer for free. This is when the nightmare commenced. I brought my car back on Friday April 13th after work in the late afternoon to have this done. The technician broke one of the lock nuts and they offered to order a new threaded stud because they broke off the original when trying to remove it and at the same time butchered the rim. This took 1.5 hours and they ordered the wrong threaded piece so I had them put the wheel back on and brought it back on the Monday when they could ensure they had the right part. The technician was very apologetic and I felt sorry for him while the service manager and other sales people were rude, abrasive and acted like it was my fault, they even told me on the phone that they were doing me a favour by replacing the part that their technician broke and they could have turned me away after it broke. I felt like a victim not a customer and to top things off when I brought the car back on the following Monday they did replace the threaded stud but placed a crappy aftermarket wheel lug on it that didn’t match the rest. This business is one to steer clear of and I will never recommend it to anyone.

I am shopping around to find a tire place that will change and seasonally store my tires so I gave Dettmer a call. I would like to apologize to the associates at Dettmer for disturbing their day as the person who answered the phone did so in a way that was short and dismissing. I simply inquired as to whether they provided these services and if and when it would be possible to have them work on my vehicle. I was informed at 10:30 in the morning that they were "done for the day" and considering they are open until at least 5:30 I found this odd. I asked if it would be possible to set up an appointment for another day and was told it is first come, first serve and if I left my car with them before 10 they "may" be able to get to mine. Guess they're just too successful currently to worry about me and my tire needs so I will take my business elsewhere.

We are recent customers of Dettmer, having gone to them for Snow tire installation services as well as to purchase Summer tires for our 2017 Nissan Rogue. In each and every instance, we were treated exceptionally well by Mitch Ellis and Steve Motyl. In particular, Steve could not have been any more accommodating and thorough in his level of service and follow-up. He arranged for an overnight drop-off of the vehicle(s) which resulted in our vehicles being ready for pick-up by 10:00am the following morning. Outstanding turnaround, especially given the fact we are in the midst of "Tire Season" when business levels are typically higher than usual. Based upon our experiences to-date, we are now looking to Dettmer Tire to handle the ongoing routine service & maintenance of our vehicles. I like going to dettmer tire. I find them very friendly an it doesn’t matter. Who you get at the front desk. They are all very nice. I also like how they make me feel that I can trust them. Being female other places seem to think they can,try to take advantage of me. An I don’t get that it dettmer tires. That’s why I always come back. I like that they don’t try to over sell anything else. I fine dettmer is 5 stars in my books. An I they my kids to go there an my mom. ???? great place.

WOW!!! I've been to many tire centre's and I have to say, Dettmer has THE BEST customer service and selection. The brand of summer tire I just recently bought from them are a very specific type and size. (255/35/20 and 275/35/20) I called several tire centre's and no one was able to give me a straight answer if they carry that tire or what sort of wait time I could expect if I ordered them. Both tire specialists that I talked to at Dettmer were friendly, experienced and got my new tires ordered up in a matter of minutes. I installed them the very next day and was completely satisfied with my entire experience. Thanks guys! I really do appreciate the great quality service. Matt

I bought tires and rims in the summer. Came time to put them on, and they don't take appointments. You have to sit in your car at 7:30, and race in when they open. By the third day I still hadn't gotten in, as they only take so much work per day. Fourth day finally got in, but they had sold my rims to someone else, despite my $500 deposit. I asked for my money back, but they offered me a deal, but could not install them. I had it all put in my car and went to another dealer. Of course, the tires were the wrong size, but the second dealer swapped them out. How on earth does this place stay in business?

I brought my car in as soon as they opened in the morning. I know it’s a busy season but instead of telling me that the chances of my getting my summer tires changed over to winter tires (and they were already on rims) would be impossible!.... they told me it would be done by late afternoon. I said okay then I will have to take a cab home instead of waiting 8hrs and they called me a cab. I called at 3pm and they said they still hadn’t gotten to it. They didn’t say they wouldn’t ...they said they hadn’t gotten to it! So I arrive through a snow storm another $30 later by cab only to be told that they didn’t get it done and that I would have to come back tomorrow. Really?!!! $60 cab fares and they tell me I have to do it all over again tomorrow with no promises! Not even a “we will pay for your cab for our miscommunication”!!! This is the first bad review I’ve ever written but it was well deserved.
