They don't take appointments so when you need to get winter tires changed it's a full experience like trying to get tickets for a hot concert. Get there at 7:45 or earlier and wait in the line. Ugh. Some years do this several times before you actually get in.

Wish I could describe their service but never had the opportunity to use it! Disappointed that they do not take appointments and that it is only first come first served. Also that they do not work from 12:00 to 1:00, all mechanics are on lunch. I dropped in 3 times and each time it was over 1 hour before they could even look at my car. Working full time this is regrettable not possible since I have to wait for the car. Too bad, guess I will find somewhere else to bring my business

Avoid at all costs! The manager charged me a diagnostic fee without informing me before taking my car in. She then was very rude, chuckled and blamed me, and told me she would leave my car disassembled if I do not pay the fee. I am shocked and appalled by their unprofessional, shady business practices. Never been treated this way by a shop before, and neither should you. They are so cheap that they do not even offer their customers coffee while they wait, yet they charge more for parts and labour than official car dealerships!

Woke up to a flat tire on our truck Saturday morning, minus 11, snow storm. We just moved to Guelph a few months ago and had no idea where to begin.. Googled "tire repair" found Dettmer...husband managed to get spare on, and we called to see if they could help. YES... we got there in 30 minutes, and 60 minutes later all 4 tires were repaired as they ALL had slow leaks.... total cost? 115... what an epic save to a potentially crappy day. Got a quote for new tires... better price than Costco... hands down, great honest service Will never look elsewhere.

Dettmer is the only tire place I've used with since moving to Guelph to attend University a few years back, and they have more than earned my business. I always find them gracious, helpful, courteous and professional. I most recently dealt with Kelly, who came out on a service call on short notice on a Friday. Having worked a number of years in customer care, myself, it's always a wonderful experience to deal with a business, who still believes in going above and beyond for their customers. Took my Lexus RX 350 to Dettmer Tire & Auto, the AC wasn't working and just blowing warm air. After dropping off the car the shop called me and said the problem is the AC compressor and pressure switch. They had mentioned that it will be couple hundred to repair and get working AC.I took my car to another shop to get second opinion, turns out that the compressor and pressure switch were working just fine, the AC Unit just needed a top up of freon. Dettmer just wanted to charge me way more for something as a simple $50 Freon Top Up. Dettmer Tire are CROOKS, DO NOT GIVE THEM YOUR BUSINESS.

Very, very poor Customer Service. Changed my tires from winter to summer and did not tighten the front left lug nuts AT ALL. I really mean Not. At. All. They were totally loose; could spin them with your fingers. And I'm not talking about them getting loose after driving around for awhile... I mean they truly did not tighten the lug nuts one bit. Unfortunately this was only discovered while driving on the 401 with my children in my van! I nearly lost the wheel and I hate to think what may have happened to us. It could have been tragic. And this has happened not just once but TWICE now. Once in the spring of 2015 and most recently just last week (only the second time thankfully I caught it in town while driving 50km/hr). Ok, maybe I should have checked to see if they had done their jobs and tightened the lug nuts but for the price I paid ($160 to change tires and put into storage) I thought I could expect them to do their jobs properly - it isn't rocket science! I also thought I could expect them to be shocked, surprised, SORRY, and eager to ensure it does not happen again. On both counts however I was wrong. Both times when we told them what happened they were exceptionally disinterested. Did not ask our name, did not care to find out who the mechanic was who did the work and certainly did not care at all that it happened. No sorry, no nothing. Criminally irresponsible and exceptionally poor customer service. Don't think I'll trust them with my vehicles (and my family's lives) again.

I had damaged my tire a couple of months ago and went to Dettmer Tire at that time to get a new tire to match the other 3 on my vehicle. They had it in stock and fixed it right away. On todays date I took my car back in because I noticed that the tire they put on had been losing air recently. They looked at it right away and fixed the leak at no charge. I blew a tire on the way up to Guelph from Toronto and was only there for 2 days and trying to find a spot to get my tire changed was brutal! Everyone else only had availability a week out or 4 days later, on a Friday. I was worried I wasn’t going to find anywhere that could service the tire ... but A friend recommended this place and I couldn’t be happier! A gentleman took my info and everything was ordered on the same day I walked-in and the next day they serviced it. It was truly a relief and I couldn’t thank these guys more! I drove over some construction this morning that was a little rough on my tires. After inspection they did seem a little low. I drove to Dettmer's after work and asked if they could look at it. This was at 4:15 so they were getting close to closing. Despite the fact that everyone was working on something, the gentleman behind the front desk asked me to drive it around so he could pump the tires and take the pressure. He did so, free of charge. I really cant recommend these guys enough. They're good, professional, and quick. 10/10

I would just like to say I would highly recommend doing business with these guys. My daughter is a student in Guelph, and suddenly needed new brakes. I didn’t want her to make the 2 hour drive home but wondered how to get the brakes fixed in a larger city without being taken advantage of. I did some online researching and discovered Dettmer Tire and Auto Centre. I called them on a Saturday and explained the situation. Arrangements were made for Monday morning and the car was ready by the end of the business day. They even provided transportation to and from the school, so my daughter could attend classes. Prices were very reasonable with quality workmanship and excellent customer service. I can honestly say they are top notch!!

Today I had the 2nd out of Province car into the shop on Cork Rd, Guelph in for the required Safety and Emissions checks. This was my third visit to the shop, and I believe it will be my last. Visit 1 - May 9, 2016 Being new to the area and not knowing one auto shop from another, I checked online to see who was out there and what the reviews were for the shop. Dettmer has a number of good reviews so I included them in my list of places to call for tires. I was looking for 10 tires and 1 rim. The price I was quoted was quite fair so I made the arrangements to get the work done. It was done as promised and all was well. We were happy customers. Visit 2 - The week of May 16 It was now time to get the Safety and Emissions checks done on my wife's car so we could get it plated for Ontario. Because we had a good experience on our first visit, we decided to go to Dettmer again. Interestingly, we needed a new tire. Just more than a week prior the car was in the same shop getting two tires and nobody thought to tell us that we needed not two, but three tires on this vehicle. If that had been done, I probably would have bought a full set...just so that I'd have the same tire on all corners of the car. I put this off as an oversight and even defended it to my wife who questioned why something was not said. I wanted the same tire that was previously put on the car as it was only $65. How convenient that there were none of these available and I had to buy the $85 tire instead. Visit 3 - June 14, 2016 A little concerned over the last visit, but giving the benefit of the doubt, I called Dettmer again to get the Safety and Emissions check done on my 2nd car today. I got a call saying the car was great but the right front caliper was sticking and that they needed to be serviced - $60 charge. Here's the rub... Knowing that I was going to take the car in for Safety and Emissions testing this week, this past weekend I took every tire off the car and checked the brakes over to make sure there would be no surprises. In fact, it was a former mechanic friend of mine that did this with me. We bled the brake lines while we were at it to change out the brake fluid and ensure all was in good working order. The car has over 180,000 km on it and I have driven every one of them. I have put 3 sets of back brakes for every set of front brakes on this car. If I had been told the back brakes were sticking and needed to be serviced, I would have thought nothing of it. But our inspection of the brakes showed even wear on the pads, both sides of the caliper and both sides of the car. If one caliper was sticking, would there not be uneven wear? I seriously question whether I needed this 'service'. I never argued about the charge and paid my $191 to get my car back. But now that my car is safely in my hands and licensed in Ontario, I can say that not only have they probably seen the last of me they will get a LOT of negative advertising from me. And all over less than $200 worth of unnecessary work. I'm just glad I managed to get the car done before the new regulations kicked in...I'd hate to see what would have happened then. Lastly, it's never a good experience when you call and the person booking the car in for inspection phrases responses EXPECTING there to be something wrong with a vehicle. I guess that should have been my first clue.

Probably the most dishonest shop in Guelph!! Will blatantly lie about what the problems with your vehicle, in hopes that you will let them do all kinds of unnecessary repairs. Save your money and go somewhere honest!

I usually go to Eramosa location but they were busy and suggested I call Cork st. location. Had some work done on car and everything looked great. The problem is that it needed alignment because it was wearing my tires really fast. They couldn't produce the printout of alignment saying it didn't print. Just told me they did it. My car still doesn't drive straight and feels like it did before just with new tires. Other than that they did take me in the same day and complete work in a timely fashion. Proper printout I would have rated higher

Disappointed. My father damaged a wheel on his pending trade-in a few months ago. I provided him with one of mine (same car/rims) to avoid further trade-in depreciation. They took my TPMS and put them on his car, but tossed the functional TMPS from the damaged wheel. When I bought a replacement wheel for my car this spring, I realized I needed to buy a new sensor, a needless expense.

Technician mishandled brake line during inspection. Resulted in damage. Asked $366 to fix their mistake. Had the nerve to ask for a diagnostic fee. Had to wrestle technician to get my keys back. Got ahold of the owner who heard me out but never compensated me or took corrective measures. It;s a fail here people.
