Recently broke down north of Campbell river and had to be towed to a garage. They were friendly and fixed my old truck for about half what they quoted me. There bill ended up being cheaper then the tow. Very happy

Shooting To Thrill

A family vehicle went into this shop and they had it for well over 3 weeks and tried to overcharge for a service that we had a quote match from the dealership. We refused to pay the overinflated rate. In addition, they broke the air conditioning unit that worked perfectly fine before it went in. They asked for another $800 instead of owning up to their mistake. This vehicle is meticulously maintained and serviced well in advance of the scheduled maintenance. TOTALLY DISAPPOINTED!!!

Had car problems and there was no dealership for our car in town so we tried Ironwood. Great service, no trying to upsell or get you to do work that isn't needed. Got our car in right away. Checked it out and ran diagnostics, issue was just a general error code and once it was cleared the car ran fine. Advised us to come back in a couple of days, just when we were due to leave, and have diagnostics run one more just to make sure. So we brought it in the second time, no issues were found and we weren't charged for the 2nd diagnostic. Would go here regularly if we lived in Campbell River.

After travelling coast to coast in Canada several times, we can confidently say that Ironwood Auto Tech is one of the best garages out there. Steve and his team are knowledgeable and thorough and go out of their way to make sure the job is done right. We often struggle to find a good mechanic that knows their way around an older vehicle but the team at Ironwood got our '84 van sounding and running amazing. Would highly recommend this garage.

Would be 3-stars had it not been for the extra little bit of attention given to my car before I had some minor work done. I needed a small job done -- was given a quote, but the end charge was more than initially quoted. The owner adjusted the charge after I mentioned the difference, which lets me know that he threw in the extra charge to try to deepen his pockets whilst extracting unnecessary money from me. Luckily I'm cheap and I pay attention to detail so I had to say something. Other people probably would've paid the extra, no question. This tells me that I cannot fully recommend this shop to friends or family. Had he kept the quote the same, I would be more inclined in recommending this place. Also, I needed to get the small job done before driving anymore so I was basically stuck at that point. The dealership actually quoted me the exact same price, which tells me that I got overcharged from this shop, as the dealer charges way more per hour... Be careful! Get quotes from other shops! Ask to watch over the repair/service if you really care about your car! (to learn and to ensure services rendered)

I had a really great experience with Steve. I had to have my truck towed to his shop after hours. He handled it ASAP the next day and called me a few times to update me. He even proactively got in touch with Toyota about the biggest issue my truck had, and was able to confirm that the repairs would be covered under warranty! His prices struck me as fair and he seemed like a really great guy. I will definitely go back next time my truck needs work. Thanks Steve!

This business DOES EXPENSIVE REPAIR WORK WITHOUT CONSULTING THE OWNER FIRST. I also potentially incurred more expensive costs due to their neglect in finding our suspected leak in the coolant system. Took vehicle in as I was going on a 3 week road trip. Suspected a leak in the radiator. They had the vehicle for 6 hours which after they reported they did not find a leak in the radiator system and that there was no major issues. They had a few things to finish up with so we arranged that I would pick up the vehicle late the next day. I would be out of town and out of cell range the next day, which I informed them. Arrived to pick up the vehicle once back in town the next day. They had put in new brake pads WITHOUT consulting me first. Who does this? When I inquired why this was not brought up in our first conversation the evening prior, reply was, "we missed it". I gave them the benefit of the doubt, hesitantly. Then on our trip, my vehicle over heated and I now have a radiator that needs a full replacement. If they had found the suspected leak as I asked them to, I may have had a much cheaper repair option. I do not recommend this business and will never return here.
