I've been taking my Audi to Alfred for about 9 years. I moved to Squamish in 2009, which is 80 kms away, but after trying a couple of local mechanics for the convenience, I ended up going back because I just didn't trust them. Twice a year I haul my ass down to Vancouver West Motors because there's a lot of value in having a mechanic you can trust. Most recently, my car broke down and the local mechanic was going to write it off. I called Alfred on the off chance that he might have another solution, and sure enough it worked and my car's back on the road, saving me a load of money. If you have a VW or Audi, and you live anywhere in the lower mainland, you should not be taking it anywhere else. Do yourself a favour.

This team is incredibly knowledgeable and passionate in what they do! I had an alternator suddenly go out on me when i was vistied Canada from Seattle. I had to tow my Audi there and leave it in Canada for over 2 weeks because I had to travel for work. They took care of my alternator and took cared of my car while I was away. Then this past week my car didn't start again! Thinking it was a faulty alternator again, the crew there diagnosed it for a couple hours and discovered it was my battery cable. They repaired the issue. I was very unprepared for any additional work but they took cared of the expense and labor! I wish I had a reliable and trustworthy shop in Seattle like West Motors! Taking care of your customers will have us rent and rave of their excellence!

Needed brakes done on my MK6 GTI and Alfred got me in next day. He is a wealth of knowledge in European cars and is more than helpful with any questions you may have. He was able to get my brakes replaced, swapped my brake fluid and transmission fluid and stayed within my predetermined budget. Highly recommend!

When we take delivery of a new car with extended warranty and have the dealer maintain its care, there is both a convenience and an understanding that the car will get the best possible service. It's from the manufacturer after all. At the end of my Audi Q5's warranty I discovered just the opposite though. Tires were reportedly always checked but never rotated. Full care? Wheel alignment: only if you ask. The quoted cost of my first after-warranty service at the dealer was $1200. For an oil change and to check belts and door hinges, etc.? Say what! Dear Alfred, please will you check over my car and do a major service for me, etc.? Certainly... there's nothing wrong with your car, we got it all up to date, including changing your brake fluid (high moisture content) and the charge will be less than half of the quoted dealer price. Hey everyone, please know I was treated extremely well by Vancouver West Motors, and I get the impression it is a honest and trustworthy place for actual full care of my baby. (What a concept!) I highly recommend Alfred and his team.

Amazing service, really good knowledge and friendly staff. I took my Audi (v8 s5) for carbon cleanup, they did an amazing job. As luck would have it, my Audi's manual transmissionn also bailed on me. These folks had my back as I called them to toe the car there. They did a really good job with the clutch replacement. Highly recommended for Euro cars, and in my experience very knowledgeable on Audis. If my wife is reading this review, I know honey I lied about the engine needing some looking into, even after the carbon cleanup. It was the clutch.. lol.

Just took my Audi Allroad to Alfred to fix a coolant leak and I was afraid it was a turbo charger. Alfred was super knowledgeable and spent sometime talking with me on the phone before I brought it in. It turned out to be a leaky return line that was fixed in an hour. I will definitely be coming back to Alfred should the need arise.

I have been bringing my car to Alfred for over 7 years his knowledge on VW and other European makes is amazing. He once saved me $4,000 bill from a VW/Audi dealership by diagnosing my car over the phone and advising me it was safe to drive home. He will be honest with you and tell you what your car really needs and what you can wait on. He has kept my tdi running like a top for ovrt 200,000km. He even helps me out with my vintage VW's even though they are not his favorite ???? but he has the knowledge and skills to keep them on the road as well. I highly recommend him to anyone who is tired of being lied to by bad mechanics or dealerships who said they did the job but didn't.

I would recommend not going to the shop. He is rude and much to high on himself. Lot's of other alternatives in Vancouver for Audi, Volkswagen, European cars.

I have been dealing with Vancouver West Motors for the better part of 20 years , Initially it was on recommendation from a coworker and from the start i was treated with respect and always a comprehensive explanation of what repairs were done as well as what other issues were needed if any . Alfred took/takes the time to explain what the problems are as well as how much the repairs will be . I find his service and prices to be second to none . Anyway after my initial experience i was so impressed that i recommended him to friends and family and all of them have thanked me since . In this day and age where it's incredibly hard to find a trustworthy/competent auto repair facility believe me you can't beat Alfred at Vancouver West Motors .

We have had a great experience taking our car to VWM. Alfred fixed everything at a moments notice and gave very reasonable rates on parts and labour. He was the most convenient and accommodating mechanic I have ever dealt with. Our car was successfully prepared for a long-trip and made it through safely. There were no hidden costs and all of the estimates were dead-on or if not even a little less than projected. Excellent service.

My steering still needed some adjustment after swapping the control arms though so I went back and Alfred took care of it right away. He actually went and corrected the adjustment himself. The owner was very unprofessional, what he does best is replacing more than needed parts. My audi A4 had a leaking drain plug due to the drain plug seal which is an aluminum washer, ended with a new oil pan and over a thousand dollar bill.

I have been going to Vancouver West Motors since thr late 70's when they were on Seymour St. near Davie, then later at Scotia and 6th Ave and now at Fraser and North Kent; all in all that is over 40 years for servicing my various cars, Volvos, Subaru, Jettas, Audi A4 and now my Mazda B3000. Obviously I am a happy customer. When I first met Alfred way back when, he was an apprentice at Vancouver West and he is now the long-time owner who treats all his customers with honesty and respect. There are no surprises when it comes to paying the bill as he lets you know in detail before and during the inspection and repair what needs doing and what kind of number you will be looking at. In all the years I have been going to Vancouver West I have never been disappointed in the work, the price or the timeliness of the servicing. Vancouver West Motors recently serviced my Subaru Legacy wagon. When I dropped by for the first time Alfred introduced me to an experienced Subaru mechanic who took the car in, inspected the engine noise problems and advised. It was immediately apparent that Alfred and his team take pride in their work. After performing valve adjustment and other work my Subaru is running better than it has in years. Noises, rattles and minor performance issues that the dealership described as “normal” are now gone. Based on this one service experience, it appears that the people of Vancouver West Motors are competent, honest, and fairly priced. Although they have earned their solid reputation as VW/Audi specialists, I plan to bring my Subaru in for future servicing – major or minor. If only I could find someone this reliable to service my motorcycle…

I ordered OLED taillights for my 2020 m340i and initially had them installed at Mopar in Langley. Long story short they broke one of my lights abd were only able to install 3 of the 4 pieces. Further to this they also charged me $250 dollars with no apologies. This brings me to Vancouver West Motors. After calling almost every shop in the lower mainland, Alfred from Vancouver West Motors advised me to come on in and would take a look at the taillight to see if it was salvageable. He also advised me he wouldn't charge me for the repair. I asked Alfred if he could install the taillight as I did not trust Mopar. Fast forward to October 21, I drove from Maple Ridge to Vancouver and asked if Alfred could try and install my light, and also advised him that I had knee surgery at 1pm. Alfred is down to earth and really seemed to enjoy his work as we chatted for about 15-20 minutes. Alfred was successful in installing my remaining taillight, and man he was fast but thorough. I would not hesitate to bring my car to Alfred in the future, and left a very happy customer. Thanks again Alfred for fitting me in on short notice, and your honestly was a breath of fresh air. Alfred and his staff are a breath of fresh air. Finally an alternative to the dealer, that is not only more cost effective but I do truly believe he provides better service than even the dealer. I am on my seventh BMW now and am only willing to take it to the only shop I trust to provide not only the best performance but at a reasonable price. Most BMW mechanics believe we are all loaded and fixing BMW's is a licence to print money, however Vancouver West is a greatly appreciated change from this mentality. Any man that can tell you what is wrong with your vehicle and genuinely want to help you not only fix it, but save money is great in my books.

I have been dealing with Alfred for the past 10 years professionally and know i can always count on a professional job from here. As I deal alot with insurance companies his thorough explanations and diagnostics are always appreciated and allows me to do my job ultimately taking care of my customers. He may not be the cheapest guy on the block but lets be realistic ...auto repair is all relative and is never cheap. I do know in the end he will save you money and you always know how what and why. Dont think that just because a door rate is less that you will be saving cause the ability to diagnose problems will make that savings dissappear real fast. Thanks Alfred!

I left my car on them to fix my AUDI engine trouble. They charged $ 1000 for repair, and I paid for it because I believed them. But the next day, the engine got a bigger problem. When I asked them again, they tried to avoid responsibility. Eventually they gave me an estimate of over $ 7000 and I just brought my car It was the worst service I ever experienced. I will not visit here again and do not recommend this place to anyone.

I randomly walked into this shop this week and this really kind gentleman helped me figure out a hex bolt size I was super confused about...He even gave me a couple longer ones which worked perfectly for my skid plate! It's always a gamble finding a new mechanic, this shop is so trustworthy that we still call him from across the country when we need a second opinion on our VW rabbit repairs. Explanations are clear and he will re-direct you to other reliable garages when the need is there. Notified me of a recall on my car after a vw dealership didn't even tell me months prior. Definitely worth the detour to know you're in good hands.
