I decided to trust the real word recommendation over the opinions of some random people on the internet and am glad I did. My experience was the complete opposite of what the other reviews describe. Customer service was friendly and helpful, I was communicated with about all work before it was done and all agreed work was completed in a timely manner.

Went in for a safety. They gave me a lengthy list of things that needed to be done when half of it had just been replaced. Driving home from there and had no brakes. Seems they broke a line that I just replaced while doing the inspection and failed to inform me. Just about hit the car in front of me. Definitely not impressed with this service. and I have no brakes. As they seemed to brake

Car broke on a Thursday afternoon, and our regular garage was booked up til Monday. Allan's Auto Repair fit us in on Friday morning, and had it fixed super quick. Extremely reasonable rates, too. Very pleased!

Replaced an air conditioner belt without approval and failed to check the work done. A plastic shield covering the a/c belt pulley was installed too close to the pulley, and was making a loud noise. The a/c belt could not have been checked after it was installed. A friend of ours discovered the problem and fixed it in minutes. But, before that, we returned the car to Allan's and he told us - obviously without even looking at the car - that we needed a new air conditioner compressor at a cost of $1,000. To him it was a complete mystery why an air conditioning compressor that was working perfectly well when we took it in, and that had nothing to do with why we took the car in, suddenly broke while sitting idle in his lot, between the time he touched it and when we picked the car up a couple of hours later. ... To add insult to inury, he misdiagnosed, twice, the cause of a knocking noise near the rear driver's side wheel well. In the end, it was just a lose brake caliper clip. He told us first that the exhaust was rattling and that it needed to be welded. So we paid for that, and it did nothing. Then he tired to charge us for changing both rear shock mounts when, at worst, only one would have to be done had that been the problem. But again, neither of his diagnoses were correct. We are dismayed by the unethical treatment we received.

I went in to have some engine work done. And they damaged my passenger side quarter panel and now when I open the passenger side door it hits the quarter panel and scrapes paint off and makes a terrible noise. Alan told me that there was absolutely no way that they caused the damage. And refused to do anything about it. And was very rude about it. NEVER AGAIN!!!

Had an issue with dash warning light. Was treated by courteous, friendly staff. They scanned the car, found the issue. Repair was done in an hour. Will be back for any other needs auto has. HIGHLY recommend this place..

DO NOT GO HERE! These people are incompetent! Brought my car in for repairs, which also required alignment, and they didn't even straighten out the steering wheel before doing the alignment!! My car drove straight when the steering wheel was turned almost a quarter of a turn to the right!! STAY AWAY FROM THIS PLACE!

On 3 occasions I have brought cars in for a safety inspection. First time: a wheel bearing was required. As a mechanic myself, I repaired it and thought "borderline but ok". Second time: sway bar links and park brake shoes. Again repaired it myself..."Really stretching it but ok". Third time: was given a lengthy list including some legitimate items, multiple items which had been recently replaced, items that are not required for a safety, and was told a structural component was bent...it wasn't. The car was inspected elsewhere by 2 other mechanics and myself and was deemed fit. Since new safety regulations now require the car to be driven and I was told " they no longer have a dealer plate" (the car was unplated), did they intend to fail this car before they even checked it? Have to wonder. $117 wasted...lesson learned.

Do not go to this place, untrustworthy, incompetent. kept finding problems that didn't exist. They can't even complete simple jobs competently If I could give no stars I would. We took the car to Shane's auto on college street east, I'm glad we did, awesome guy.

I love this garage. I have taken my car all over Belleville and was not happy with anywhere I took it until Alans. They are friendly, knowledgeable and will o the extra mile for you. They always call to give me a quote before doing any work, and even helped get me to work one day when my car was taking longer than expected. I have had my car break down and towed there on multiple occasions and they got my car n right away to get me back up and running in no time. I cannot say enough good things about this garage.
