I took my truck in because I was losing engine coolant and the check engine light was flashing they said it needed a radiator flush and a new cap on the coolant tank. I paid $285 for the inspection and work to be done but when I was driving home from work the check engine light started to flash again so I checked the engine coolant and I was losing coolant again. I took the truck back in the next day only to be told the problem was that the head gasket had blown and would be around $2000 to fix and because it's an old truck this is really not worth fixing. Basically it cost $285 for them to tell me my head gasket had blown.

These guys provided the BEST experience I've ever had at a mechanic. I was driving into Kamloops off the highway and my truck had been making a weird noise and was getting progressively worse. Since I needed to keep heading north for another couple hours, I decided to get it looked at. I didn't spend too much time looking up reviews, just wanted to find a place nearby. I called Southgate and while they warned me they were closing soon and may not be able to repair anything, they said they'd at least take a look. I showed up, they asked a few questions, and then took the truck in while my girlfriend and I waited outside. About 20 mins later the guy called us back into the office where one of the mechanics explained that a rod connecting the A/C compressor to the engine had failed and was causing overheating and the noise. He said that if I had kept driving, the whole engine would have seized up! Amazing! These guys just saved me thousands of dollars and being stranded for days. They disconnected the compressor and removed the plate and now, while the AC wouldn't work, the engine was safe to drive. When I asked how much I owed them, they politely waived me off. "No charge" they said. I tried to insist, but it was no use. Have you ever heard of such a thing?! These guys are not only pros, they're damn honest and community minded. I live down in Vancouver so can't throw much business their way, but if you live around Kamloops, choose Southgate and support a business who cares about people and goes above and beyond — even when they don't need to. Five stars is not nearly enough.

While on a BC road trip we began to have overheating problems in our motorhome. I called ahead to Southgate and our rig was in the shop the day after we arrived. We were back on the road 2 days later. They allowed us to stay in our motorhome on the lot and they even let us use their courtesy car! Great guys, efficient, professional and very kind. These guys are really on the ball. Capable of handling everything from light truck and car - fleet or personal - repairs and maintenance up to rebuilding industrial sized radiators. Polite, to the point, and task focused. Walking distance to Walmart, Michaels etc.

Brought my dads truck here for A/C which they took care of quite quickly, during that time I did not know they did general automotive repair. Their work was very competent so I hade them take care of some other issues I had with brakes, steering and some fuel injection. The work was done meticulously on time and very fair pricing. No funny business just straight old fashion knowledge, workmanship and honesty. Talk to Kal you won’t be disappointed.

Received great honest service. We were in need of repair for over heating problem. They fixed it back on Aug 30th and can attest it was done right because we were traveling back from BC to Ontario and had no further problems. The fan clutch and thermostat were replaced. Highly recommend them.

Got the brakes on my truck replaced here and had to bring it back 3 times under warrenty in the first 2 months for excessive brake noise/squealing and brake dust. They promised they installed quality parts. The breaks made noise from the day I got them and wore out super quick. Not to mention I paid $600+ all in for the service and parts and replaced them recently at a different place for $390. Haven't had a problem since. Front desk service was excellent but overall very unhappy with the price and quality of products from this shop.

Excellent service, quality work and timely for a great price. Had a radiator recored just under a year ago. Had recent issue with my overflow spout and they repaired and repainted with same day drop off/ pickup at N/C. Would highly recommend for a great experience you will remember.

We were visiting from out of province and my SUV started leaking oil. We headed up to get it checked and were greeted with knowledge and kindness from Cal and the crew. They were able to give us a ride in the shuttle van while they diagnosed our car and had the problem fixed by that afternoon for an extremely reasonable price! They did a thorough inspection while diagnosing to ensure we would be safe on our drive home and have no more issues. Excellent service, we will be loyal Southgate Customers going forward!

Got my radiator of my motorhome fixt this week at Southgate radiator . This was the best moved I ever did . For sure it was going to be a huge bill to get it fixed so Stuart the owner ask me if I called icbc because a stone poked a hole in it and it happened while we where traveling .So I did and it was covered partialy so because of Stuart I saved a lot of money .Thanks again and the great job guys who work there they are fantastic ( P/S ) great RV park . I was referred to Southgate Radiator by a reputable mechanic for a radiator repair (rock puncture). Was charged $241.00 for a SIMPLE repair. Rad was already out of the vehicle and brought to them. Photos of the "repair job". A "glue job" to fix a small hole? Ridiculous charge for this fix! Shameful and will never refer anyone to this business. Photos attached.
