Visited 6 days ago on our way from Calgary to Salmon Arm. Just before Canmore our transmission temperature light came on. We checked with other vendors in town, including the dealership, and no one would see us, nor take the time to help with our concerns. Until... Canmore Lube and muffler. Annette at the front desk was very accommodating, and squeezed us in late in the afternoon, the mechanics that dealt with us face to face, and the ones in the back behind the scenes, were honest, efficient, and knowledgeable. Novices to garage mechanics we as the clients, but we understand the basics, and didn’t feel pressured or oversold on a service unneeded. The mechanics gave us three justified, well informed, and priced out three services that we “could” get. With that knowledge between all of us, we came to the decision just to drop the transmission oil pan, change the filter, replace the seal, and on our way, rather than an entire transmission service that would have cost a lot more. We remained there for a couple hours, until just after closing time at five, but Annette’s presence, and the company with the boys in the back was worth the pit stop. Highly recommended, the company, service, staff, and location should be applauded.

Lady at front desk very rude doesn't know how to talk with customers. Also the line up for oil change is not in sequence. They shut the door on face when asked how long is it going to take to get it done. People are not skilled to do simple job like oil change in time. Will not recommend any service at this location.

Annette, the receptionist, is so well informed on cars that it is a delight to sit and wait for your car to be worked on. She explains cars in such a manner that even a person who is not mechanically minded, suddenly has a shift in perspective and becomes enlightened on how it works and how to take care of your car. She definitely would be an asset teaching mechanics to kids and to anyone for that matter as I quite enjoyed listening to advice about things I never knew before.

Been using Canmore L&M for years (for my Subaru) and they are quick, efficient and reasonable in terms of cost. Plus they don't try to upsell you products like the other quick lube offerings. Just be careful and do your homework if you happen to have a vehicle which is a little different from the norm. Case in point; I brought in my Corvette Z06 and realized afterwards that they overfilled my oil by over 1L which leads me to believe that they only drained one oil pan and not both. An honest mistake since there's no way they can know the intricacies of every vehicle but something to note if you happen to be in town with a specialty vehicle and need an oil change right away.

Joel and his crew go above and beyond. I have been getting my regular oil changes and summer/winter tires switched for years and am never disappointed. Most recently my friend and I were on the road to Vancouver in some pretty dicey weather, hit black ice and crashed into the ditch past Banff, I called while we were waiting for AMA and Joel made sure Ashley and the guys were ready for us, they fixed us up, made sure the truck was good to go and got us back on the road in an hour. Have to book an appointment in advance, as I was rudely told by a receptionist. It's an oil change, nothing complicated. Shouldn't be that hard. So, we take our vehicles while we are out of town for oil changes and get better service.

The mechanic who helped us with the car (I didn't get his name) was fast and when he noticed there was nothing to be done, they didn't charge us anything. I called Fraser towing first thing on a Monday morning, and I'm so glad I did. I cannot recommend Joel enough. He helped me tow my immobile Ford Focus to a repair shop with no notice, and was even apologetic that he couldn't do the work himself! He was so friendly, on time, very quick, and gave me a great deal on the price of the tow, stating that I'd "had a hard time." ???? They are so great I would recommend them to any local or traveler. We were on vacation and ended up getting a flat tire coming down a mountain trail late at night near canmore so we looked up tire shops in canmore and found OK tire, so we drove into town and camped out for the night and waited for them to open... after a good wait they pulled the tire off and told me it was no good, so I asked about used tires in my size and was told, while standing next to racks of used tires labelled for sale that there location doesn't sell used tires but they could sell me a no name set new for almost $1000... so I put my spare on took my rim and left before they tried to rip me off more. We then went across town and started calling around looking for help with a used tire and found this place.. they were fantastic from the friendly service over the phone and in person too better prices than I can find around Edmonton where I live. From when I called them to ask about a tire to when we were back on the road to find another camping spot was no more than 45min.. I can't thank them all enough for saving our backroad adventure weekend

We ended up with a flat on holidays. Towing a trailer and three teens. It had already turned into the holidays from hell...we were worried we would not be able to get it fixed and head home. Ashley at the front counter was so lovely to deal with and the service folks fixed the tire in less then 30 minutes. I would recommend them for anything you may need. I called on Monday about having my car looked at on the Tuesday for an electrical issue, that I suspected was due to a faulty alternator. Brought it in, and told them, they could have the car all day, as I was going to be at work anyway. Got a call early afternoon confirming my suspicion, but the alternator needed to come in from Calgary. I was quoted a price (in the range I had figured it might be), and agreed that it needed doing. It was easier to leave the car with them overnight and take the bus home, so they could tackle the repair first thing Wednesday when the part arrived. Late Wednesday morning, I received another call telling me my car was ready to go. The final cost was a few bucks less than quoted, which is always a nice surprise. Went down, paid, grabbed my keys, and was on my way. I spoke with two different people from start to finish, and both were courteous and helpful. I'll definitely bring my car back to them. ** reading the 1 star reviews, it really seems some people have an inflated sense of entitlement, too. Small shop, small town, and people doing what they can to get you on the road. Just because you're in a hurry doesn't mean they have any obligation to expedite your repair. I had exactly zero concerns with any part of the process, communication, or end result.

Typical rip off garage. Went in for a simple oil change. My used 2014 vehicle was only 2 months out of the dealership, 45k, more or less brand new. I requested an upgrade to synthetic and after a 2 hr wait... I get charged for their premium change with all the bell's and whistles for $120. Totally unnecessary and not what I had requested. I was already late for work and just wanted to get the hell out of there after listening to the desk manager run her mouth nonstop for 2 hours. Will never go back.

We can always count on the team at Canmore Lube & Muffler whenever we need something! About a month ago we needed to get our Nissan Pathfinder tow-ready. We had less than a week to do a lot of work including a transmission flush and getting the trailer brake system installed and working. Good service. I can't tell if they checked all the fluids (I wasn't there) but they did the Job within 40 minutes (without an appointment). The Lady at the reception was really nice and she didn't try to sell me something I don't need. I paid around 72 dollars including taxes for 5,7 liters of regular oil, the oil change and a new oil filter. I think that's fair. Would recommend.

Horrible service. They don’t have value of your time. I left my car early in the morning for tire change and got it 4.45 pm. Next day I noticed that on of the tire missing bolt. My wife went to the shop to inquire about missing tire bolt and she said that it was broken during installation and the told her to come next in the morning to fix it. Next day was the same waiting time and they also charge me for their mistake. Never going back again.

The staff here are absolutely incredible! We discovered our oil was leaking heavily during our road trip through Alberta. We went to 5 different mechanics in Banff who were too busy to take us until days later. We called Canmore Lube and Muffler as a Hail Mary, hoping they could help. Ashley was extremely friendly and comforting on the phone. She told us to get to the shop as soon as possible and they’d take us right in. After an hour, the mechanic (Matt) told us the fix was quick and simple and didn’t charge us for anything that was unnecessary. He didn’t try to rack up any prices. This place saved the day! My car started making alarming sounds while we were vacationing out of town, and they were able to squeeze us into their genuinely busy day. After hearing our sob story, they kindly moved us up the roster and got it diagnosed and fixed in less than 2 hours! Then, they blew my mind by not only saving the rock that had gotten stuck in my brakes for me to see, but charging me less than half of what I anticipated--even including the thank-you-beer I brought them. Cannot recommend this place enough, just a bunch of really great people.

Called in for a quote on a manifold replacement, and was instead suggested to bring my vehicle in and they would see if it could be fixed instead (something everyone else said couldn't be done). 1.5 hours later and $800 less than replacement, Brendan has done what couldn't be done by repairing instead of replacing. Amazing! They do a bustling business, and accommodated 10+ customers in the 2 hours I was waiting. This is a blue-collar, made-in-Alberta repair facility, and they have certainly earned my repeat business with pragmatic, economic approach to customer service. Thanks!

Topped up my power steering fluid and greased my wheel bearings for no extra charge. I had a wonderful experience here last week. While traveling through town my engine light came on. I called 5 places non of which could even give me 5 min to put a code reader on. The staff here greeted me immediately, and within 10 min they read the code looked it up and set me mind at ease that i was not I dire trouble. And to boot, the price for their help was to pay it forward with a good deed to someone else. You don’t get service like that much anymore. Thank you guys!

I dropped by Canmore Lube & Muffler to discuss some modifications on my exhaust system about a month ago for my Escalade. While speaking with Joel the owner, I asked where to purchase new wheels and tires. He happened to have a set of 20" black rims with chrome spokes that just came in for his own truck in the back. They were exactly what I was looking for ... I ended up purchasing them and booked the installation a couple of days later. The installation was done properly without making a single mark on the rims ... the price was most fair. My experience with Canmore Lube & Muffler has been excellent. I am heading back in today for some exhaust mods. I would recommend their services. November 14, 2015 Just to add to first review. Canmore Lube & Muffler now has mechanic in shop and had them replace one of my front driveshafts in truck. I was socked at the price .... I was expecting double the amount actually charged. Very pleased to have the convenience of full service available now.

Most ridiculous service ever! I dropped my car to get the alignment done after personally taking appointment in advance. The cocky lady at the reception called me 10 mins before they were closing to let me know that my car is not done yet and you will need to reschedule.I asked here until when can i pick up my car and she replied we close in 10mins if you cant make it till than we will leave the keys in car in parking lot! I run there as i was scared my car getting stolen to ask here why did she book me in if they did not have people or it? She replied with no courtesy/apology or empathy that all this mechanical work can never be forecasted and handed my keys back with all the attitude she had! FYI my car was moved from original spot and I wonder what they were doing if they didn't fix it.

Unfortunately a bad experience with this business. The muffler bracket was broken–the part that holds up the muffler; a very easy to replace part. Not for them! They charged me 45 minutes ($75) to replace it! However, the problem was not solved; they did not replace the broken rubber that connects the bracket to the car. From a specialized muffler place you should expect that they solve a simple problem with your muffler right away. Instead, you have to ask them to do their job right.

Had my oil changed and immediately brought my car back when I noticed that the sticker said "5w20" instead of "5w30". Mechanic told me it would do no harm but I requested the proper oil the engine called for. He said he's do it again but I'm unsure if he even did. For all I know he drove around the building once.

My wife and I recently visited Canmore from Edmonton for a short get away. The morning after arriving my car started to run badly and was apparently misfiring. I went to several repair shops in Canmore all of which were busy and couldn't get my car in until after I was due back in Edmonton. During my frantic search I contacted Canmore Lube and Muffler and spoke to Ashley. They were very busy and also couldn't fit me in. It was beginning to look like I would be stranded for a few days or have to make other arrangements to get home and pick up my car at a later date. Ashley took it upon herself to phone other repair shops and finally recommended I try Cam Clark Ford. Ashley was extremely helpful. I attended Cam Clark Ford who also has excellent staff and customer service and had my car repaired. Even though I didn't get my car fixed at this location, they went out of their way to help.

Terrible experience. Today I've booked an appointment for 8am and was here so because they needed to check my car and order parts to be delivered from Calgary before 9am for same day 1pm delivery as I'm coming from out of town. They kept taking cars in until 8:50am but not mine so I asked them what's going on. Then they found out they had the orders wrong and have been taken cars behind me in first. When they are checking my cars finally, the receptionist told me she can also take care of the tires change as well when I returned when the delivery will be here at 2pm. (She said 1pm before) Upon my return, she told me they will be taking my car in 5 minutes as they were bringing an RV out now and then it'd be my turn and my car will be ready in an hour. I returned in 50 minutes only to find out my car was still not been touched parked outside. When I asked, they brought it in rightaway. So another hour to go now. When they brought it back out in an hour, tires were still not changed. The mechanics said no note on the order, so the receptionist failed to do so. They asked me to come back the next day? Isn't it obvious the season has changed and the car is full of tires? Is it my problem that the receptionist failed her job and you wouldn't think I'm here for tires changed? I just love to carry four tires around in my car for fun eh? I thought I had found a reliable mechanic in the bow valley area, but only to know that I'm totally wrong unless you do not need your car and are welling to wait unlimited time or be here to check on them to ensure orders are in correctly. I had plans to go to Jasper for the night and was expecting to leave by 3pm the latest according to what they said. However, I'm still stuck here at 6pm. No apologies at all. Good luck.

Being surprised with car troubles 1553 km from home is never a great thing. With rear tire issues I was assisted by Canmore Lube and Muffler. This shop proved to be very efficient keeping the prices more than fair. Once tracking down two new tires I was very impressed with Canmore lube and muffler's attention to detail, as they took the time to install the new tires on the front and older tires on the back. Which may seem like common sense to a mechanic, but in this day and age its hard to find customer service that will put forth this type of effort. Going above and beyond. Also being able to talk directly with the mechanic involved in the troubleshooting and repairs to my vehicle made me more than comfortable continuing on with my road trip with out a doubt in my mind the issue was resolved. Got totally ripped off. Told receptionist what needed fixing and ended up paying $300 for a piece of paper telling us what was broken. Our window was previously stuck up but when we got the car back it was sliding down and their suggestion was a bag over the window or some tape.

Went in to get tires swapped over to different rims and when I got there asked if they did wiper blade replacements and they said yes. Go to go pick up the car, walk past it and see they’ve put the tires on to my summer rims (rims on the car not the ones sitting in my back seat like I instructed) get the work order back and the lady at the front desk had not even put down I wanted my wiper blade changed despite it being the first thing I asked to have done. We have been using lube and muffler for our oil changes for a few years now, and have for the most part always had a great experience. We recently had a minor fender bender and went in to get it looked at and priced out. I was honest about not knowing much about what was wrong, just that our tire wasn’t on straight anymore. They quoted me $2300, and told me I needed to replace almost everything. I called my dad for his thoughts and told me to get a second opinion. Needless to say we went to another garage in town and the new quote was $630. I feel they took advantage of someone who doesn’t know much about cars and felt they could get away with it. My car is back on the road and for much less of a price. Sadly we will not be returning for any more oil changes or anything else for that matter.

THE WORST EXPERIENCE! After booking an appointment and being told to come in for 8am so that my vehicle would be first to be seen. I was told to stand in a line up of 8 people outside in -8°C and my car would be seen when they could get to it. After speaking with Joel how my car was booked in at 8am and that all it needed was an easy 5min scan so I could find out what was wrong with it, he was immensely defensive stating he never broke my car, and saying when I go to Safeway do I just expect to jump the line. I told him there are no appointments at the checkout lines and I showed up when I was told and now I’m being asked to stand in a que of 8 people outside. He said the scan my be a 5min fix or an hour fix I told him to chill that all I wanted was a scan so I would know what the issue was. He then became even more defensive that I told him to chill and told me they don’t need my business and to leave. Truly one of the worst ways of treating people and doing business. I have come to this shop many times to have work done and this was the Cherry on the top.

Just travelling through from the States to get up to Alaska, stopped in to get our beat up but trusty car looked at. When we came in, the car sounded like a dirt bike at full throttle. These people had it all together! Friendly staff, great job (car sounds great) and fair price made the same day service the cherry on top! Thanks a million from NY!
