Hydra is up there with one of the best!

Got my 2nd Tattoo from John. Amazing place. Its one of those hidden Gems in Toronto that every one needs to visit. Every artist at this studio got their own specialty. John is great at doing realism stuff. I was over the moon with his work. He really listened to what i had to say and created a piece that i was over the moon for. I highly recommend calling or contacting the studio ahead of time & making an appointment. This way when you come in - the artist can get right to work. Unless you are doing a really small piece & artist is available. But of their work is by appointment only. Very reasonable prices. Dont fear coming down there for your 1st tattoo. You wont react - this is coming from a person who walked in that got tons of Allergies and no issues. Thank you John.

I just got my first ever tattoos at Hydra from Julie about an hour ago, and i needed to leave a 5-star review. I found Julie's work on Instagram and was able to message her an idea of what I was looking for, and she was always quick to reply, and we finally booked a date. From the moment I walked in Julie was incredibly friendly, sweet, and accommodating in terms of what I wanted. I was never nervous at all only because she was so great, the whole session flew by, and it ended up being what I wanted! There is no doubt this is just the start of my tattoo journey, and there is no doubt it will continue with Julie at Hydra

Had a great experience here. I have had past tattoos with Russo. I wouldn't trust anyone else with my art work (9 pieces and counting) Brought my fianće here for his first tattoo the staff made him feel comfortable. The small shop is very cute and everyone is great here. The staff are respectful, responsible, helpful, friendly and professional. One of my biggest concerns were about the health and safety regarding needles and I will assure you the team at hydra will always take that as a priority, as they follow all health care procedures and protocols.

I e-mailed Julie an idea of what I wanted and she drew up a sketch for me....exactly what I wanted. I went in for a tattoo and left with a piece of art !!! I am Rian the shop OG and I've gotten over 25 tattoos at this shop. I walked by and saw John outside the shop before it first opened. I asked him what the place was going to be and he said a tattoo shop. Right then and there I knew I was in good hands, John gives off such good vibes and makes you feel like a champ. 25+ tattoos later I'm still itching for the next one. Unfortunately, my recent experience getting a tattoo with Zimmo at Hydra left me feeling frustrated. While on the whole the tattoo looks good, I feel that Zimmo did not listen well and did somewhat of a rush job. For example, there are twelve suns on the tattoo, and he made a mistake and did one in orange and the rest in yellow. If had owned up to this, fine, but he said nothing and just waited to see if I would notice, which I did later on at home. I also asked for the tattoo to be 3" not including text, and he did it 3" including text. I think part of the problem was that we consulted on the tattoo over email, but still it seems he didn't read the emails that carefully. Also, I tried to tell him the spacing was a bit off on the words, but he didn't really listen to me and the spacing ended up being a bit off, with the last word a bit smaller than the others so it could fit. He also didn't wrap the tattoo well at all before I left and the wrapping was falling off in the car. Overall, I like the colors of the tattoo and think it is a good tattoo. But it could have been a great tattoo, which is obviously what I hoped for. I just had the other half of my forearm tattooed with Chris Price yesterday and found him far more careful and more friendly. I wish I could recommend Zimmo, but unfortunately I can't. He obviously is talented, but it seemed he was rushing with me or perhaps distracted in some way.
