PLEASE READ: I unfortunately wasted 6 hours, waiting for nothing. I wanted to like this place because I first ran into the store a few weeks prior and was greeted by a friendly, female-employee who told me about the last Saturday $40 promotion. She recommended to come before store hours to line up. I arrived today, at 11AM. I was one of the first few people in line, along with my friend. We were approached by their employee (who was wearing a blue bass pro hat) managing the waitlists. He asked us to signed our names on a clipboard and assured us to wait. We’ll be called if we were next. We waited. After about 5 hours have passed, we realized that we were skipped because the couple that was right behind us in line, proceeded in getting their tattoo. The couple right after them started to get their tattoo as well. We also saw that everyone who was before us in line, had left already... We asked a few people who were waiting and they all said they arrived after 11:30 - after us. We expressed our concern to the staff but they were avoidant in answering us. Finally, an employee told us, "we called you"; however, this wasn’t true because we never recieved a phone call... He then proceeded to tell us that 4 people were ahead of us or to come back next Friday for their next deal - really? Please organize clearly! We ended up leaving upset without properly being acknowledged. I hate to write a bad review but I felt completely disregarded. I understand the current situation, and how it can be busy during the promotion, but it doesn’t feel good waiting for 6 hours while people after you in-line were getting serviced...

Where do I start being my first Tattoo ever and picking this place was just perfect. My vision of the tattoo came to life with a few tweaks from Marlon and Boom, it was a reality. This place is so sterilized, clean and on point with COVID-19 precautions, you can have open heart surgery in this place. Marlon was amazing and walked me through the entire process. Only wanted one tattoo but something tells me I will be back soon!

This review is regarding a cover up tattoo; the artist was Marlon Mariano. I initially visited other local, much better advertised competitors, however never got a good feeling or vibe from the artists. I felt like they were just blowing me off or trying to quickly have me commit to a date for an actual tattoo, without properly understanding what I want. This was especially important for me as obviously, there are no redos. Marlon gave me a good vibe, spent the time to explain how you would go about the cover-up, and the end result was truly better than what I anticipated. Combine artistry, skill, service, and a cool name, and you get 8ink. It's rare for any establishment to consistently get a 5 star rating but these guys deserve it and then some. I lost my tat virginity here. Marlon and Marvin were welcoming and chilled throughout the whole process. Their place is clean and has a convivial and comfortable vibe. For you first-timers out there, let me share my experience. Ideally call ahead for an appt (unless it's one of their special days like the 8th of the month or the last Saturday where they only take walkins- might be a wait but half priced) Make sure you bring your printed design with you which you then hand to the artist. The artist will ask you for your preferred placement and will confer with you on the design, size, and your desired look. Once you both agree, the artist makes a stencil which is the outline that they will stick on the body part that you want your art to go on. The artist opens the needle in front of you showing that it is sealed and brand new. Then they proceed to prep your skin with some alcohol and they may need to lightly shave off some body hair. They'll either ask you to sit or lie down depending on your art's location. The artist will ask you if you're ready and away you go! Marlon started with a small try then stopped and asked me if I was ok with it, which I was, then he proceeded to draw the outline. My first art was the Chinese character for dragon- 'ling' or 'long' depending on the dialect you speak, placed at the base of my neck which could be a painful spot for some. The pain was less than I anticipated - try pricking yourself with a hot sharp safety pin but actually not going through your skin. That's the closest feeling and it was tolerable. Make sure you eat something beforehand and are well hydrated. Marvin suggests the forearm, shoulder, calves as possible spots for first timers as it has more fat and muscle. Anywhere along the chest close to the rib cage and your mid-back close to the spine would be painful. As are other spots with more nerve endings and less meat. Honestly a visit to the dentist with a drill is more excruciating. Marlon and the other artists at 8ink care about their craft and their customers' comfort. Highly recommended whether it's your first or 101st tattoo!

First of all, I have to say that I am a very picky customer when it comes to services (hair, nails,tattoos, etc). I've been coming here since 2017. Today I was tattooed by Marlon and I've got to say, the experience was beyond amazing. He was clean, detailed, took his time, and gave me exactly what I asked for. I'm not sure what he did, but even my pain threshold increased and I was able to sit for way longer than I'm normally able to for a session. I'll definitely be going back! AVOID! This was the absolute worst customer service experience I have had in my life. I waited 2 hours for a walk in that I call in a head for and one of the artist/workers just let another person they knew ahead of me as a walk in without even consdiering the amount of time I had wasted waiting. I was interested in getting a tattoo, but I knew nothing about tattoos. I reached out to Marlon on Instagram with a rough design of what I wanted. Marlon was exceptional calm, patient, willing to answer all and any questions I had, and came up with a sketched out design of what the tattoo would look like on my body. On the day of my tattoo, Marlon had a light hand when inking my body. He was attentive to any discomfort that i was feeling, and was willing to take any breaks necessary. The process was fast and minimally painful. After the process was over, Marlon provided me instructions for how to take care of the tattoo. He was also willing to offer a free touch-up in the future if there were any problems. Would definitely go back another tattoo!

Amazing experience. Decided to go with 8 ink b/c they were highly reviewed online for having a welcoming environment, customer satisfaction and excellent hygiene practices. Bonus that they're not downtown for those in the suburbs. I reached out to Joanna b/c I really liked her art style on Instagram. I was nervous about pain since it would be my first tattoo. She assured me the size (4 inches) and placement (outer thigh) meant it would probably hurt less than I thought, but suggested numbing cream as an option. Definitely felt more at ease that not wanting to go through pain wouldn't be looked down on. She responded quickly to emails (usually within a day or two). Her patience and understanding as I worked out exactly what design I wanted was greatly appreciated. I make most decisions based on logic, but there's a surprising amount of instinct that goes into tattoo selection so it was new and awkward territory for me. Joanna was non-judgmental when I explained the meaning behind my tattoo. Although we didn't meet in person until the day of, throughout the consultation her being excited about the tattoo helped me stay positive. Price was very reasonable. Get the sense she doesn't take your trust lightly. Very understanding with random small talk I used to distract myself. Ended up not using numbing cream, but did take one extra strength Tylenol after confirming with medical professional it was safe and wouldn't thin my blood. Pain level was similar to a cat scratch, but in a much smaller area. Mostly a stinging sensation. Everyone's pain tolerance is different and placement may affect experience so take that with a grain of salt. Overall super happy with how idea became a reality and would highly recommend!

The whole processing is fast because it is a small and simple design. And there are lots of painting in the shop by @marvisionink they are all marvels to me. I would really recommend him for further art work.

The environment alone makes you want to visit everyday. Always friendly and has great accommodations while getting tattooed to help pass the time like movies playing for everyone to watch. So far already got 3 tattoos and in the process of getting a full sleeve done. Already planning a second full sleeve and back tattoo. Highly recommend going for their specials especially if it might be your first one.

Marlon did a fantastic job! It was my first time getting a tattoo and he was very kind and comforting. I had gotten a huge dragon tattoo and he listened to every detail I wanted and it turned out much better than I expected! It was a fair price and I highly recommend!
