Staff are friendly for the most part, I do find some of the attitudes a little off putting. The artists are extremely talented, and watching Cory, the owner at work, he is great! I would go back however I will want to take a harder look at the artist's books. When I booked my tattoo appointment in the past the artist disrespected my PAID time and finished eating her snack. I showed up early and had to wait about 45minutes before we got started, which was 30minutes past my booking time. I have been 50/50 on going back to this shop, I would love to, but I am very hesitant from my experience there.

Andrew did such an amazing job on my first tattoo. And on my boyfriends matching tattoo. He made me feel super comfortable and reassured me we were in good hands. He was so polite, and gave us some good laughs. We are definitely coming back!!

I took time off work to attend a first consultation appointment that was cancelled due to a family issue with the artist (Cory). Took more time off work to come to a second consultation the following week. Booked three session to complete my left sleeve. First session was booked on Canada Day to be told that the tattoo artist (Cory) had a family emergency. Then they lost my second appointment and used a "technicality" as an excuse. I sent the tattoo artist an email with some ideas for what I wanted on my sleeve - and never got a response. When I tried to sort it out the receptionist he was very patronizing at which time I lost my desire to be a patron at this shop. Adding insult to injury they kept my deposit ($100). This shop went out of their way to make my experience negative and kept my money. Very frustrating as I wasted 3+ months trying to book something there.

Cory has done a excellent job everytime he’s hit me with the needle. There’s not any other place I would go in Nanaimo. If you are looking for great bold traditional look no further then cory, he’s your guy. That being said there’s nothing they can’t do, everyone that works out of relegation is experienced and enthusiastic about their work. Great people and great atmosphere aswell.

My friend and I found relegation a few years ago when we were looking to have a couple of matching seashells tattooed on my last day in Nanaimo (I’m from AB). We ended up walking in and Meag had available time. She talked some sense into us and rather than getting tiny shells behind our ears that would eventually blow out and age poorly, we ended up with beautiful shells on our forearms with very well done water colour. Meag is super professional and works quickly, she definitely has a lot of pride in her work and it shows. A few months later I was back, and we went back for some script. Meag had some time so she fit us both in, and again - we walked out with beautiful tattoos! A little under a year later we came back!! This time we got Brooke. Brooke tattooed a palm tree for me and a pineapple for my friend. They are both very well done! On my most recent trip last week, Meag tattooed a beautiful hummingbird on myself and a sunflower on my friend. The shop is clean and the artists are friendly and approachable. I would absolutely fly out from Edmonton to get tattooed in this shop again! Thanks Meag, Brooke and Relegation!!

I had wanted a tattoo for a while, and this place has the best rated reviews in all of Nanaimo so I booked a consultation. Unfortunately my experience was not good and now I won't be returning for a tattoo with this business. The person on the phone suggested I get a tattoo from someone so I booked my consultation with this person. This person had some of the worst customer service ever! I was shocked in my conversation with them because of how they acted. I told them what I wanted as a tattoo and what I was looking for and this person basically bashed my ideas and was so uncaring towards what I would like. The mannerisms of this person was rude and controlling and I would not recommend them to anyone. I told them what I wanted and they said, oh you shouldn't do that regarding my tattoo styles. Furthermore, for our "consultation" we just talked at the front desk, while two people were sitting behind it, listening in and watching, AND while a few CUSTOMERS came through the door! This was a bit awkward because there was another artist who was doing a consultation and she brought her customer to the back area. Due to not wanting to slander this person I am choosing to not leave a name. I won't be going here because even the two people sitting at the front desk, who were right beside me and this tattoo artist, did not say anything to mitigate the awkward and negative situation. I hope anyone who gets a tattoo here gets a wonderful tattoo artist and has a great experience because it honestly sucks receiving poor service when you are about to spend a few hundred dollars on multiple tattoos.

Awesome tattoo shop. Super clean, great vibe right off the bat. I knew I was in good hands when I walked in the door. Andrea Dawn is not only an amazingly talented tattoo artist, but a sweetheart to boot--I was immediately put at ease by her friendly personality. She did a cover-up on an old tattoo my arm that had depressed me for years, and it is just BEAUTIFUL--perfect fine lines and detail, and speedily done to boot. Hard to believe she's only been tattooing for 4 years! Better book now before she's totally discovered and you can't get an appointment for 6 months :) I truly couldn't be happier.

Telephoned in the morning to try and book appointment. Told they don’t take bookings, just walk-ins. Drove 35 minutes to get there and was told he had appointments most of the day, come back for 6:00pm. Returned at 5:45pm and told he was running late - would be at least a 90 minute wait. Very frustrated! Wasted a whole day of vacation time, waiting around and driving back and forth. Not impressed, very unprofessional.

Went in for a walk-in and got an appointment the next day as the tattoo was a bit big for a walk in. I absolutly LOVE the job they did. I want to start off by saying I was so excited to potentially get my tattoos done here. I went through their website and looked through the artists portfolios and I have to say, the previous work they showcase on their website looks phenomenal. All of the work I saw, from each artist, beats the work I saw done from any other tattoo shop in Nanaimo and that had me so over the moon excited! That's where the good begins and ends. I applied on their website to be put into consideration for some tattoos. You now have to fill out an application (not unlike an application you have to fill out when you are wanting to apply for a home rental) to be considered by the artists to be tattooed. I am assuming this is because of COVID as I have not seen this anywhere else before when being tattooed. I understand times are weird and I fully support the shop feeling the need to make use of an application, it's just foreign to me and thus a bit strange. Anyway, I applied... and that's where to story ends. This was a month ago now. I never heard back from anyone, whether it be a receptionist or an artist. No one told me whether or not my application to be tattooed was accepted. I suppose part of the blame can be placed on me for getting my hopes up and getting so pumped after seeing the art these amazing artists do. And don't get me wrong, they do seem to be amazingly talented. But somewhere down the line someone dropped the ball. I would love to be given the chance to get my tattoos done here, but the lack of ANY sort of communication gives me the idea that the feeling is not mutual. I guess I shall look elsewhere, even though I really don't want to.
