Her shop is very clean and tidy which is a 'must' for a great tattoo studio. She does really nice line work as well as beautiful colour work. My tattoos are full of colour which blend together, she did and amazing job, I am so happy! After several tattoos with her, I am already booked for more and I can't wait. WOWOWOWOW I cannot say enough about how amazing my experience was here. I've driven by this little studio quite a few times since moving back home and it definitely sparked my curiosity. My friend and I came in for walk ins at 530pm and I was not expecting to have as much fun and as much laughs as I did that night. I've gone to two other tattoo artists before coming to Red Cat and I genuinely had this impression that all tattoo artists were rude and that all my tattoo experiences would be uncomfortable. BUT Juli and Dima were so accommodating of our last minute tattoos and my ideas came out perfectly on the first draft. Then it was straight to the tattoo. Was so quick and comfortable and the lines are so so so clean!! When it came time for my friend to get hers done they were super awesome about tweaking the design to get it just perfect, which they DID!! We all had a blast hanging out while she got tattooed and it was awesome to get to hang out with such great REAL people! I didn't have any other tattoos planned after the ones I just got but I am absolutely on the hunt for my next piece now! My friend and I left and were seriously speechless we were so happy with them. I wouldn't go anywhere else in Nanaimo.

I love this place! Once in Nanaimo, it is minutes from the ferry! Easy to find, easy to find parking. Dima and Julianna loooove walk-ins and made us feel welcome from the second we got there. The place is also an art-studio with so much unbelievably unique art! I was amazed at the idea of the walk-in art classes with the talented artist Alla Yevdokimova. However, that day I was celebrating my birthday on the island and wanted something special. Julianna allowed me to create my own tattoo and she did it exactly how I wanted. I think she is a mind reader. They gave me the accessories for my tattoo to heal fast, and now a month after I am so happy I went there! Everyone compliments me on my choice of art on my skin, and I’m definitely coming back for more! It’s not just a tattoo, it’s an experience on its own! The place is clean, welcoming and one of a kind. Both Dima and Julianna go out of their way to make sure you get the tattoo you like, how you like it and do it with the best attention to detail I’ve seen. They’re my go-to place, plus I get to see the island! I wish I could give them more stars!

I had an amazing experience going to Red Cat Studio. I had reached out with my inquiry in late November and was then scheduled for my tattoo early December. I sent over my design idea and let them work their magic. Upon arriving to my appointment I was greeted by the lovely Julianna. She was able to show me the design work up and I was able to give my input on what I liked and what I wanted to be changed. She fixed it up to my request and then Dima took over with the tattooing. They have this awesome new addition to the tattoo gun where they don’t have the cable and it is battery powered. So it makes it a lot more portable and no more drag from the cords. Anyways, Dima’s choices of colour were spot on and he has a great eye for detail and blending. He also isn’t afraid to grab more colours for his palate to make a more seamless blend. He is a great conversationalist. Be prepared for genuine good natured humour, sarcasm, and sass. But also know that they are nonjudgmental and very accepting of the stories that their clients tattoos tell. You will feel the welcoming atmosphere here. The whole studio is an amazing family run operation that just makes you smile because they all have their roles and their own touch to the whole works. It is an awesome place to go and a total gem for anyone who wants to have a unique, beautifully done, tattoo that you know your tattoo artist cares about your story and how you want to tell it. Thank you so much for your time and artistry! Hands down, I plan to come here again for my future tattoos.

I've been coming to Red Cats just over two months now and have been working with Dima on my floral half sleeve. Not only are they all outstanding artists but they make you feel at home,aren't pushy, and listen to your requests. "Mamma" is an incredible oil painter also!! The shop has an old world feel to it with hand-painted flowers and warm colours, always clean and professional. I've already recommended several people to them and they are always grateful and welcoming. Absolutely would recommend!!

My husband passed away a year and a half ago and I've been wanting a couple of memorialized tattoos done since then. I couldn't seem to find someone who would actually respond to my requests until I contacted Julianna and Dima at The Red Cat Tattoo and Art Studio. They responded to my request almost immediately. They were incredibly gracious and kind from start to finish. I gave them the idea of what I wanted, Julianna made it a reality. Her attention to detail and creativity was amazing. And Dima was so incredibly patient and kind through the almost 6 hours I sat for both tattoos. I was incredibly emotional through this process to say the very least, and they were so incredibly kind and compassionate. When I first spoke to julianna I immediately was impressed with her confidence and welcoming nature, and after explaining my idea she seemed quite excited to work together on a project. We settled on a few concepts and basic designs and left it at that until our appointment. At that time she had a collage of art laid out and started drawing on my arm. Everything was clean and professional, the shop is beautiful and I quite liked the decor. Dima popped in a few times to see the progress and also seemed quite excited about the work. I’ve always taken that as a sign that things are going well, when the artists are excited about the art. Julianna has a light touch and kept me from wincing too much during our 5 hour session. The end result, which today is the beginnings of a sleeve, is a beautiful vibrant tattoo with clean sharp lines. I loved my experience at the studio and can’t wait to sit for another session

i recently within the last week lost my mom(my best friend) and wanted a memorial peice done.. i went into red cat and had the best time ever.. the artist (sorry i cant remember your name) did an amazing job.. she did my moms hand print on my leg and from first seeing the stencil i was in tears.. and after seeing the beautiful work she did i cried more... thank you so much for giving me something to look at and remember all the time... i will highly recommend you guys to everyone for ever.. the best customer service the best art work ever... and the paintings on the wall are just stunning.. thank you again and i will be in again soon for more work done

Horrible customer service!!!! Booked a tentative date on the weekend if there was availability, to which they would call me back but also booked a formal date during the week if there was no availability for the weekend. I booked for a date during the week on a week they were clearly open, as also stated on their website. However, when confirming the time the day before I was told they were closed, with no notice? I was told that since there was no deposit they did not seal the date. I was never asked of told about a deposit!! I Tried to reschedule again, with another agreed date, only to receive a second message rudely saying they were no longer interested in tattooing me, with no justifiable explanation. Very disappointing for my FIRST "tentative" tattoo experience!! I was so excited! I will not recommend them to my friends who are also wanting to get tattoos, nor will I approach them again.

I went in a with an idea but just showed a few pics of what I liked. Well she combined what I showed her and created a unique beautiful piece that I’m so, so happy with. She designed it and he tattooed it, he made very sure to have the exact size that fit for where I wanted it (head and forehead a little) it had to be altered a couple times to get it just the perfect size for the spot I wanted it. Very happy with my experience would definitely go back!

Unfortunately I had a bad experience with the wife. She did not listen to what I wanted at all. She claimed she drew me an image but when she showed me it was computer mountains and other computer images she just copy and pasted in, ( she drew nothing) and it didn’t look even similar to what I wanted. Therefore I asked her to start on an easier image as I wanted two tattoos from her. The finger print heart she made again looked nothing like the image that I gave her and she was trying to make each thumb print about 8 inches each. I told her this isn’t anything like what I showed her and she just stared at me. I ended up asking for my 100 deposit back and leaving. Biggest waste of an hour.... she decided to respond just now.. try’s to justify drawing nothing and using copy and paste. Handed me a for to fill out but the second page was a previous clients, apparently I’m in the wrong for crossing out someone else’s name on my forms. Real covid safe, she wasn’t wearing a mask. I didn’t want something just copied off the internet and she clearly couldn’t handle that. Unprofessional and clearly untalented.

I got my first tattoo here on my neck, and they were able to make the perfect stencil out of it with what I wanted which was botanical but with lilies. It was also perfect placement and exactly what I envisioned and then some. I could not say enough about the terrific service as I walked through the door and the reassurance I received from them.
