My review is not based on the products in the store but rather the customer service. My mom and I were shopping when my 2yr old needed to be taken out of the store. My mother ended up spending over $100 in the store and purchased a flannel blanket for me. She specifically asked the sales representative if I was unhappy with the colour may I exchange the blanket for another. The lady agreed it was not a problem. My mother gave me the blanket and before leaving the mall I decided I would prefer another colour more complimentary to our home decor. Merely 1/2hr later on the same day I had gone back into the store with the blanket to exchange it for another colour. The representative was very familiar with who I was as well as my mother as a customer. Despite this, she refused to allow me to do a quick exchange because I did not have the receipt. By this point my mother had already left the mall, so no I could not get the receipt. You would think that given it was the same sales representative on the same day with full recollection of the sale that she would simply just exchange the item for the exact same item of a different colour. Rather, she insisted this was not possible without a receipt. I still had my son with me and could not be bothered to deal with nonsense. I get that there are rules and regulations, but there are also exceptions. Overall, I am extremely disappointed in the customer service and how we were treated as customers.

I was on the phone ask her to talk to manager and regarding my daughter's birthday... then she calls her manager and I'm on hold and I hear all our conversation the woman was mocking me and she was accusing me for freaking out on her when she pick up the phone I told her that I heard everything but she said about me and she wasn't even owning it. I then hang up on her because she has no skills to be working with customers.

Went to get my ears pierced a year ago, and they still haven't healed completely. Also the day after woke up to find one of them had fallen out. Had to go back and have it be put back in. A few days later a blood blister formed on the back of my ear. A doctor at a walk in clinic lanced it and put me on antibiotics. Will not be revisiting or recommending this place to anyone.

If I could give zero I would. My mother in law brought my daughter to get her ears pierced last Saturday. Sat ears are all infected because the earings are on a weird angle that's pushing the back of the earings into the hole! I was a piercer for years at Trade Secrets so I know how it should be done! They are so bad! The piercings are so off it looks like one is where a second hole should be. I found out after that they didn't even ask her if the marks look right before piercing also they pierced her at the same time! Huge no no! They should know better then that! It never turns out good! I will be calling the health board to make sure all of your piercers have been properly qualified and have the right paperwork to be putting wholes in people's body's. DO NOT GET PIERCINGS HERE!

If I could rate them a zero I would. Customer service is very poor here. I took my 12-year old daughter and her two friends here for a little birthday shopping. We were not greeted upon entering , and to make matters worse the kids were followed around the whole store like they were thieves. Very disgusting behaviour if I say sooo myself.

They didnt sterilize the station, or put on a smock like mentioned in their instructional video, ive had my cartilage, and lobe piercing for 9 days now, and the swelling in my cartilage has not left yet. the lady that pierced my ear said that my cartilage would take 6 weeks to fully heal, but (again) in their instructional video it said 8-12 weeks. ????

my friend knocked over a box a fake nails, a complete accident. we tried to pick them up from the box that had broken and get fix the box. we couldn’t & a lady came over and rushed us away immediately. she barely cleaned them. and as we went to pay for something, the piercing lady started to tell a mom about how annoying & disrespectful we are.

Elyse (sp) was absolutely lovely to deal with and did a terrific job with my daughter's ear piercing. Claire's loses 3 stars because the manager very nearly derailed our piercing experience with rudeness and misinformation. I called Claire's on Dec. 29 to inquire about the rules, given that my partially vaccinated daughter wanted to get her ears pierced on her 10th birthday. Based on the information I was given, I made an appointment for the following day. When we arrived on Dec. 30, the manager treated us rudely and didn't want to pierce my daughter's ears because she had only received one dose of COVID vaccine - even though I was told the day before that she was in fact eligible for piercing because I had received 2 doses and no 5-11-year-olds in Canada were yet eligible for 2 doses. In spite of the info we were given on the phone the previous day, when we arrived, the manager was very rude and basically didn't want to do the piercing, so we left the store. My daughter was clearly very disappointed because based on info I had received from Claire's the day before, we fully expectred that she was going to have her ears pierced that day. For her sake, I returned to the store and approached a different staff member, Elyse, to explain the situation. Elyse was wonderful. She was very clear and professional in communicating with me, and she was very kind to my daughter, who was nervous about her first piercing. Elyse did a great job with the piercing, and my daughter was happy in the end. Elyse salvaged what would have been an unnecessarily bad experience with the Claire's manager, who unfortunately is a very poor communicator.

Paid the extra for the “better solution” ???? it just has added bleach. They used hokey guns that just push the earring thru. Not the snap gun. So the push thru gun jammed and they had a hard time getting it to release. NIGHTMARE. And even after “the better solution” they got so infected we ended up taking them out. Poor girl ????

I would not suggest anyone to go here for ear piercings. To the mother's that bring their daughters here for that please find a professional studio. Many years ago I made the mistake of getting my lobes done here. The first time I got my second holes done. They turned out uneven between my ears, due to the gun not being able to get proper positioning. Same with my third holes I got done here, my ears were so red and were probably infected I had to just take them out and let them overgrow. It was not easy to put jewellery in the holes as a bump formed inside my ear. Employees at mall stores such as here, Icing, etc, do not actually have proper training to do ear piercings and the piercing gun can cause so many problems. Look it up. It's common for people to have this happen to their ears and it isn't just a problem only I had. In Nanaimo there's a lovely shop called Good Form where all of the workers are trained and qualified and they use needles and have a sanitary environment. It's so much more worth it to spend a little more money at a place like that. I've had my helix and nostril done there and no problems have occurred. So please, just try to avoid ear piercings here, it will save to have it done properly.

I have heard nightmares, but I'm glad I called Clairs in Nanaimo! My daughter turned 6 years old and wanted her ears pierced for her birthday. During my call I voiced my concerns. She informed me she's the manager, she has been there for 5 years, and pierced 1000's of ears! Being a mother herself definitely put my mind at ease. My daughter was told it's her body, and she could stop at anytime. The actual piercings were over within seconds. No tears (except me), no pain, and nothing but smiles! 5/5 I'm glad I called and got the facts!

Went in to buy a simple hair clip. There was 1 employee and about 12 people in the store shopping and waiting for ear piercing. She was run off her feet. NOW, is it that no one wants to go back to work because the government keeps paying them money to stay home or is it that Claire’s won’t hire staff??? I don’t know but this province is a disgrace with its staffing issues these days. the person. In front of me finally left after waiting too long at the till. The poor staff member left to deal with everything on her own.

This store has never been on my list of go-to places. However my kids love it here. On average they spend about an hour looking at all the jewelry, toys, accessories and other stuff that appeals to pre-teen girls. Often they have buy 3 get 3 free sales. And they have pretty good clearance deals. Advise for Dads: go grab a seat on a bench and have a coffee while your kids go back and forth. Then when they are done, pay and go home...

Edit to add - unfortunately the Oshawa Centre location has had its doors closed for nearly 2 weeks now. The store is empty right down to the fixtures removed from the wall. My store is directy beside it. Clair de lune always has sales on! You can grab a quick one of a kind gift very easily for under $20, weather it be their signature line candles, throws or home decor, you are bound to find something you will fall in love with!

Claire's is one of the worst places to get a healthy piercing done. Using a gun to pierce causes major trauma and makes it super difficult to heal. They also give poor aftercare instructions. You might be able to get away with a lobe piercing, but I would highly recommend going to a professional piercer instead if you want a healthy piercing and a less painful healing experience.

I got my ears pierced here a few weeks ago and the two ladies that did it did a wonderful job. I'm on the younger adult side and I was pretty nervous so both girls working asked me if I wanted to get them both done at the same time to help ease my nerves. They took their time making sure everything was properly cleaned and spent time with me making sure I was happy with the dotting placement. I honestly thought it was going to be a quick in and out experience. But they joked with me, made sure I was happy and comfortable with what was happening, even asked for my consent before actually doing the piercing. I had read online last year that Claire's was under scrutiny about not getting verbal consent from anyone, but they assured me that at this location they take consent very seriously. If they were getting ready to pierce and I said no, they told me they would have to stop which I find really cool. Once they both lined up they asked me a second time if I was ready which showed me that they wanted to make sure I was okay. After the piercing was finished they also made sure I was feeling okay before allowing me to stand up. I guess when you're really nervous it can cause you to faint and they wanted to make sure I wasn't dizzy. Overall I'm very happy with my experience and I would definitely recommend Sileena and Skye to anyone. Not only am I happy with the piercing, but I'm happy with the way I was treated as a person.

Well, very disappointed. If some of you guys think that ignoring certain kind of people and not helping them in your store will help you increase your sales and business, then I would like to clear your doubt that "it won't". Talking about other customer's pets is not that mandatory, when other customer is trying to get some attention. "Racism" is very heavy and huge word and I wouldn't hesitate to say that sales associate was "Racist". Anyhow, good luck in future!! Would not recommend to people-of-colors.????

It’s unfortunate that we can’t post videos!! Taylor (the supposed manager) was being condescending and had an attitude from the start when we came here to ask about piercing children’s ears. Keep in mind - based on Claire’s pricing we were about to spend over $400 (earrings + solution type) to pierce 2 children’s ears. We asked her what was the difference between the Rapid and regular solution, she said the regular solution is old and is what Claire’s been using since they first opened. What do you mean old?! So we asked for the ingredients, she said we would have to have an appointment to find out the ingredients?! So you’re saying Claire’s doesn’t have the solution at store? Obviously they do. She was just being lazy and problematic. Mind you, we are people of colour. Since she started acting like a Karen, we started to record her and she called the security specifically because we were videoing (which is not illegal, Claire’s has security cameras in the store of us) also called the police on us because we gave her the same energy she gave us. All in all, Claire’s missed out on $400 because of her laziness. Taylor should be fired and we did contact corporate and will continue to contact them until this is rectified. Edited to add more pictures of this Karen in action. She was yelling at the security guard when she said she couldn’t put her hands on me to “arrest” me.

We were so impressed with Brianna. For an amount of time, she was able to ensure safety of all patrons and ensure store was kept under capacity. At the same time, she managed to serve all customers equally at a very high level (ALL BY HERSELF!). Later, she and a colleague did our daughter's first piercing. The 2 of them were so great with our daughter (as well as our other daughter who was traumatized, watching everything unfold to her sister) and both were given lollipops in the end which made it all better! Thank you for the amazing first piercing experience amidst such a challenging time!

Terrible experience in this store when we walked in an asked about having my 2.5yr olds ear lobes pierced. The woman said "oh are you doing 1 or both ears" I said Both. She said "oh well I can't do that right now, we have an appointment coming any minute. can you come back at 1pm" (it was 11:45am) she made no offer to make an official appointment. Just shooed us away to come back at 1... We lingered around outside the store, didn't see any appointment show up. Went back into the store at 1 on the dot and the other worker says "oh I'm sorry we just filled the 1pm spot a little while ago" The whole experience had an underlying tone of racism. The lack of professionalism was terrible. The 2 workers were full of excuses to not serve me and my children.

Had our daughter's ears pierced here today. Both ladies that helped us were very nice. Everything was clean. Everything used was fresh, and I felt confident in the cleanliness. They act like they're performing minor surgery almost. They also asked her specifically for consent (even though she's 6), and I really liked that. Our daughter is very happy with the experience and how the piercings look. She commented herself on how nice the staff was. I was hesitant to have it done here due to what you read on the internet, but I didn't find any of the negative stuff to ring true at this location. They are very sanitation conscious and respectful of the child's wishes. Wonderful! Highly recommend!

I love going into Claire's in North Bay. I usually go in when the manager (dark hair dark glasses) is working during the day and she provides excellent customer service. She has trained an amazing helpful team who are always friendly and in great spirits. This is also one of the best looking Claire's locations that I have witnessed. I have a daughter and granddaughter that I enjoy shopping for. Keep up the great work!

Just don't ever take your kids to get their ears pierced here. Ive always heard mixed reviews about getting piercing from here. For my daughter 6th birthday she wanted them pierced but they would never heal!! It went on for over 6 months with frequent cleaning and they were always painful to the touch, lesson learned we took them out and will definitely go to a professional next time around.
