I've gotten 2 tattoos from the team at Wanderlust (one from Daniel and one from Mark) and I plan on getting a whole sleeve done there over time. I can not recommend these people enough (although I have already sent 2 people their way) they're funny, understanding, and welcoming. It's like walking into your own house, thats how chill the vibes are. Even the thought and care put into the little goodibags they give after. Its not just standard lotion and a list of how to care for yourself, its a sweets,a rad toy and even a locally made mini soap. The care and effort throughout the whole process is second to none. 10/10, if you are thinking about getting a tattoo done in Parksville you need to go to them!

From the moment I met her she instilled complete confidence - she knew exactly what I was going for and the best way to do it, she didn't miss a beat! I cannot say enough good about the people and talent at Wanderlust Tattoo Company. My experience there started well before I ever walked through the door (having struck up numerous conversations with Mark's amazing and kind partner Tina over Instagram.) I knew I had to actually take a moment during my time on Van Isle. to get in there and have Mark come up with a design of his own that incorporated a few of my favorite island things, and did he ever deliver! My right calf is now covered with a richly-colored and semi-realistic nature piece that I am SO thrilled to get to wear forever. I didn't give Mark any requirements at all save for some nature ideas I loved, and left the entire design in his more-than-capable hands. What makes my new tattoo so amazing is that it is something Mark got to design from the ground up (appropriate, since there are lots of mushrooms on my leg now.) My time in the shop was enjoyable, it is crazy clean and warmly decorated and the conversation was fun and entertaining. If you are at all close to the island, on it, visiting, vacationing, living there, and you are thinking about inking up, head to Wanderlust. You will be SO happy that you did!

My tattoos by Mark have been some of the best decisions I've made. He has gone every artistic direction that I have asked and knows when to tell me what works and what doesn't. His work lasts! It does help that I'm as pale as they come. But from all my tattoos (20 and counting) people always stop me to ask where I've gotten my work done. He isn't afraid of colour and knows how to do strong line work. He is a quiet but confident tattoo artist who lets his work do the talking. Since he has opened his shop with (his partner in crime) Tina, they have created a comfortable place that you feel welcomed in. Tina takes the extra steps and makes little home care packages for your tattoo aftercare and they have snacks if needed. It's a no-brainer to support such wonderful people at Wanderlust Tattoo. If I wasn't living in Kelowna right now I would be in there getting my next masterpiece from Munk! Thank you for all your beautiful art and your attention to detail, big and small.

My best friend and I came in for friendship tattoos at Wanderlust recently. I had been there once before to witness my husband and his brother and father receive tattoos together and I was very impressed with the studio and the work done. I always knew that when I was ready to receive my first tattoo, I would come back to Wanderlust. Since these were our very first tattoos, we were definitely on the nervous side. Meagan was awesome and was very patient with us as we tried to decide on placement. We also had given her an idea of what we wanted and she took it and ran with it and it came out beautifully. The entire Wanderlust experience is awesome...very family friendly. I even had my 4 month old daughter in the studio with us and they were completely understanding and welcoming. Wanderlust - great studio space, open and clean and bright AND cool tunes and chat. More to the point, Daniel is an amazing tattoo artist! Starting with the consult where he listened, offered suggestions, made sure he understood what I wanted, and helped me through to the final design decision. Nice touch, making an easy couple of hours for me, and a final work that I'm over the moon about - I now have beautiful bamboo running up my calf! He also made a correction for me on an old tattoo - better than I could have imagined; I'm loving that tat again. I can't recommend Daniel highly enough!

I’m from the mainland and have family over here on Vancouver Island. I spend a lot of time travelling to and from the ‘Island to visit my mom. This week, my significant other and I rented a little vacay house in Parksville to enjoy the awesome local beaches and so we could be tourists. I have been looking at filling in a few gaps in my existing tattoos and have thought that getting something while I’m over on the ‘Island would be nice. After a few failed attempts (due to lack of confidence or lack of availability) at other places on the ‘Island, I called in to Wanderlust. I was greeted by a friendly voice on the phone that offered a choice in time slots so that I could make it work for my schedule. Arriving at the shop was awesome - a clean professional tattoo atmosphere with a ton of awesome “flash” art on the walls. A variety of chairs with some in a private area showed me that these guys care about their clients and ensuring that everyone is comfortable. I ended up getting tattooed by Mark, and he was super concerned about my satisfaction. From the beginning, he offered me various options and advice to help me select something within the scope of what I was looking to have done. While tattooing, he checked in with me to be sure that I was comfortable and we were able to have a great chat throughout. When we were finished, Mark provided me with complimentary wash and lotion to promote correct healing of my new tattoo, along with easy to follow instructions for care. I would absolutely recommend this place to anyone (seasoned or new to the ink). Thanks again, Mark!!!

Mark's work is amazing. He did a tattoo of my deceased cat on my arm today and it's absolutely stunning. His line work and shading is incredible and he is fantastic with colour as well and was even able to hide my scar. This is the most beautiful tattoo I've ever had and I absolutely love it. Wanderlust Tattoo Co. is everything you are looking for in a tattoo shop. The artists are professional, friendly, and knowledgeable. The shop is very clean and inviting with its brightly painted walls, and numerous pieces of artwork. The shop ran a social media promo when they opened for a gift certificate that I won, and subsequently found out I was pregnant a few weeks after. Mark and Tina, the shop owners were so understanding and told me I could wait to book my appointment until I was done breastfeeding. The day finally came nearly two years later, and I couldn’t be happier with how my piece has started out! Mark took my idea and made it into something much more than I had envisioned. His incredible artistic ability and imagination really made it come to life on my skin. He pays great attention to detail, tattoo placement, and has a very consistent pace at which he works. He made sure I was comfortable while getting my tattoo and stayed very focused, which is definitely what you want when someone is putting permanent artwork on your body. After we were done for the day, Mark went over aftercare with me and provided a great aftercare kit with soap, lotion, and instructions to take home. This tattoo was well worth the trip up from Seattle, and I can’t wait to come up for more!

I've been wanting to do a couple of tattoos for sometime now, like years. I at one time took pride in the fact that I had not. Though over the years, I have been in my fair share of battles. And lately, besides the real visible effects of these battles, I've figured that I've earned some ink. I searched around for a while to find a credible tattoo parlour. After reading many reviews some stuck out. But Wonderlust really did, not sure why, but thats ships wheel had some sort of ring to it, perpetual life perhaps. I went in and arranged a consultation, and was back the next day. I then I met Daniel. He seemed like a pretty nice guy, inviting and like the rest of the crew. I shared with him of what I would like and he was very eager, and stoked to get on it. I said when, do you have time, now. He told me to come back in an hour. Well, I was back, and 20 minutes later I had my first tattoo. He was careful to detail, positioning, and to my concerns. The tattoo came out beautifully. I couldn't stop thinking of my next, I wanted it the next day, but he would not take me. I more than appreciated that, because we needed to see how I would heal after the first couple of days. So I came back the next day, and wow.... What a job, Dniel did a perfect execution. This one took just under 3 hours, and it turned to be exactly what I wanted. Daniel is a wicked artist, considerate, and a true professional. Thanks man, You Rock!!

I brought in nothing more than an idea and Daniel created a magnificent, unique piece of art from my vision. He was incredibly receptive, communicative and considerate during the process. During the tattoo, we had a couple decisions to make on colours and where to fade out etc and we were able to come to consensus easily, with me knowing what i wanted to see and him being the artist and understanding how to tattoo etc. Very pleased with the result. I used to be very much in love with marks work, but my last tattoo with him left me feeling depressed and crazy, I had something booked with him that he said he would be able to do with a lot of confidence and then it turned out that when it came time he told me that he couldn't do it all and started trying to get me to move the piece on my body to somewhere else, anyway he ended changing the entire design to something soo simple and stark that it was the void of art, this broke my heart and I tried to have him fix it but again he wanted to do what he wanted and the route he was going was only going to make matters worse, I have now been getting tattoo removal done on my throat for about five months now, it's painful, it'll be another five to ten months before it's gone, the bill is more than hefty and my confidence has taken such a blow and all he had to say was maybe I would be better off with a different artist and to top all that off he didn't have the balls to email himself, he had his wife do it. He also went ahead the time before that and decided that my skull on my chest would be better yellow instead of green and didn't say anything, I was very particular and up front about the colours I wanted, but he has this ego and he takes control and it doesn't go well. I have recently heard some other horror stories that make me want to cry and vomit, I highly recommend going to a more seasoned and receptive and respectful artist, someone who will let you get stoked on what you want instead of ruining your trust and confidence in tattoos. Thanks and all for the apology but it's quite the expensive and extensive experience, the apology doesn't mean much to me at all, but yeah I really hope you think of this before doing this to someone else also, this isn't even the worst he's done to someone, I heard a story that literally turned my stomach.... Like wow... Nice damage control but no thanks...

After searching from Saskatchewan to BC and getting ink in Calgary, Medicine Hat and even Las Vegas, I've committed to being a Wanderlust client and canvas. Gave him a couple ideas and he came up with the piece on his own. And absolutely knocked it out if the park. Could not be happier with my piece, and so excited about all that's to come from the guys at Wanderlust. If you are worried about quality when you're shopping around, then look no further. I was able to get an appointment during the reopening after COVID, and the place could not have been cleaner, and you really get a feeling of cleanliness and sterility that is obviously amazing for the shop, but really means a lot to see them go the extra mile to keep everyone safe and happy during these times. Wanderlust was recommended to me by a friend who knew I had been thinking of getting another, bigger tattoo for a while. After looking at the online portfolios I chose Mark for his colourful flora and fauna. When I went in I was pretty hooked on an idea despite having 1) zero drawing talent and 2) no idea how tattoos should be designed. I showed Mark my design and he was really calm and ego-less about explaining why certain things wouldn't work. It took me a bit to get it but he was patient. Tee helped me out in email conversations while I figured stuff out and organised for me to see an outline drawing ahead of my appointment time. Mark had included all of the most important parts of my idea but made them so much better. At this point I knew that what I wanted was a Mark Jansen tattoo of the things I loved and so I just decided to trust him. The tattoo took four hours and he did let me know that I didn't have to sit for it all at once - he wouldn't judge me for needing to break it into two appointments. I got it all at once - no more waiting. While I was there everyone was so easy going and welcoming. My tattoo is really meaningful and has been called a "masterpiece" by two different people. I look at it in the morning and it makes me happy. I have already told him I am going to get him to add to it! I also went back a few days later for a little pre-drawn design by Aylin and love that too. I get my tattoos for myself as reminders and inspiration and highly recommend Wanderlust to anyone wanting to get a tattoo.

I first met Mark when I had him cover up 2 old tattoos with a japanese koi half sleeve. After the first appointment I knew I had found an artist who took pride in his work! He works quickly and precisely and focus' on cleanliness. I have had 3 more tattoos done since that first appointment and they are beautiful and I love them all but the last piece I had done was a pet portrait of my sweet Freya, it is stunning and he captured her completely! I would and have recommended Mark and Daniel to anyone who asks! Wanderlust is a zen little shop, Tee and Timber are welcoming and make you feel right at home. There is no macho tattoo parlor vibe happening here my friends, they are real people, you are encouraged to ask questions and be yourself. I love going there, it's like visiting old friends and you leave with new ink! What could be better than that?
