I just got my first and only tattoo at age 51. On the advice of a friend, I went to see Josh at Against the Grain Tattoo. To say that I was nervous would be an understatement. Now I know that I had absolutely no reason to be nervous. What an *awesome* experience! This is a great shop with a super relaxed, fun, friendly vibe. Josh instantly put me at ease and was nice, patient with all my questions, and very skilled (I felt mild discomfort at best). In fact, I had so much fun hanging out with Josh and his colleague Frank I almost forgot to check the tattoo before I left! Ha ha. I LOVE my tattoo so much! Can't recommend them highly enough.

I must say that not only did the tattoos come out exceptionally great, but the artists made our experience one to not be forgotten. Both me and my sister have gotten the privilege of being tattooed by both artists Josh and Frank. They were professional, made us feel comfortable and didn't hesitate to accommodate us. What do you get when you put two passionate, talented and overall amazing artists together? An experience like no other and Against the Grain is just that. Josh and Frank are two of the best artist around and have the ability to make you feel right at home, making you laugh making sure you are comfortable from the moment you step in the door and making sure you are happy. These men put their hearts into every peice they do. Josh is an artist that I trust like no other and I give him 100% creative control and he has never let me down. Frank has given my brother some of his most amazing works of art. These men never disappoint, and they are definitely going leave their mark! Keep it up guys!

The Artists at ATG are nice, great artists usually but a friend of mine was tattooed by one of them recently and noticed that many of the pieces they have put together have the same flowers and leaves. I showed this to another tattoo artist, she recognized that the artists aren’t drawing their own work, they are using ‘procreate’ or stencils on their drawing application to piece together every piece - you can see that both Frank and Josh have stuff that looks like it’s drawn the same because they aren’t using their own unique drawing capabilities. Personally, I go to an artist because I want a unique piece, and I want a piece that is drawn up by the artist, in their own style. I pay for their expertise and design as well as application. It’s just pure laziness and the push to get tattoos out. Go to them if you don’t mind lack of a unique piece. Otherwise, the environment is good, I just wouldn’t book with them if they keep stamping people with the same unoriginal stencils.
