Got my tragus and helix done here back in October 2020. Helix lasted 2 months before I had to have it removed. Didn’t think anything of it since I’ve had issues with my helix before due to having curly hair that need extra oil for upkeep due to the weather up here. Helix was the most painful out of all my piercings ever. It took 5 minutes just to do one hole and the jewelry was too small for a fresh piercing.
Tragus (pictured here) wasn’t painful to put in, but had a miserable healing experience. I didn’t think much of it, after consistent care and cleaning, it healed up nicely with no swelling. After a full year of having it the jewel falls out (probably due to getting caught on my hair or a blanket while I slept) and went to a different place just to have it replaced since this place was closed. The piercer at the different place said that the backing was healed over and in fact they used jewelry that was too small for a fresh piercing. When the jewelry fell out, the spot swelled and at risk of the whole back being healed over.
Went to the ER, the piercing is made of non-surgical grade steel (which I had specifically asked for at the time) but is made out of a cheap nickel. I’m now rethinking back to when I got my helix done and am realizing I was having the exact same issues but because I removed it due to the pain didn’t think much of it.
Piercer at the shop across the street says she does a lot of replacements for the bad work this place does. They have the habit of using low quality jewelry that is too small for a new piercing. I would never recommend this place, especially since this is a habit they have. Take the time to go to the place across the street (Bare Knuckle Tattoo) and have your piercing done right the first time. The piercer was willing to walk me through why what they did was wrong and what they should have done along with what I need to do for my own physical health.
