The first thing that struck me about Painted Lotus Studios was the positive and creative atmosphere. During breaks people would move around and look at the other art being created, and always with positive things to say. It made an amazing environment and i'm sure is one of the reasons why the tattoo art out of that studio is so stellar.

I have been getting tattoo work at Painted Lotus for close to 4 years now and have had nothing but wonderful experiences there. I have mainly been tattooed by Gwen, who is extremely lovely, talented, easy going, and makes the whole experience of being tattooed fun and as comfortable as it can possibly be. All of the other artists at the shop are also extremely talented and wonderful at what they do and have artistic styles that would suit anyone's needs. Everyone is very welcoming, knowledgeable, and passionate about what they do. I definitely recommend getting tattooed or pierced here!

Went in for a nose piercing myself with my mum who went in for a Marilyn Monroe piercing. Jean Paul is very friendly and talkative. He was kind and open to any questions we had. The piercing was done so quickly that neither of us hardly felt a thing. He explained in detail aftercare and process that piercing entails. Professional and courteous . He is terrific at his work and will come highly recommended from my mom and I. Planning to get tattooed here in the future hope it goes well from what I seen a well run Studio the receptionist is also very Cute and Friendly.

When I finally decided on a design that meant so much to me, I had to go beyond the fear and choose a studio to go to. I felt intimidated and nervous. This is the most wonderfully awesome tattoo studio. Everyone is so friendly and they have a lot of fun. Corey is an incredible artist. His colours are vibrant and his line work is unbelievably neat. He's also really light-handed (so, if you don't like pain, he's the guy for you) and as a result the tattoos heal really well and quickly. I can't recommend this shop enough!

I just took my daughter in to have a 2nd piercing done in her ears. She had a terrible experience at the mall with her first piercing years ago so after a little poking around online and a recommendation from a friend, we booked with JP at Painted Lotus. WOW! JP was amazing! He walked us through the process, answered all our questions and my daughter didn't even flinch when he pierced her ears. I would highly recommend JP. Bring cash though, they only take cash and I wasn't advised when I booked the appointment so I had to run out to a bank machine after we got there.

The energy in the room is positive and welcoming, I got my nose and navel pierced , and Paul was great , very skilled, professional and knowledgeable. Jean- Paul pierced the other side of my nose today and to say I was impressed is an under statement. Not only did he take extra time and care ensuring each side was even, he explained everything he was doing step by step and was extremely thorough. I had originally had nose pierced 5 years ago at a mall and the jewelry was so poorly bent inside my nose and was almost impossible to take out. He got it out for me as well as gave me a free replacement stud until it calms down so I can get a hoop. Not only did he take care of what I came in for but he also took care of a piercing that he had not even done to ensure I was completely taken care of. Thank you SO much to Jean- Paul and The Painted Lotus for amazing customer service. Highly recommended.

I went in to get my second tattoo a couple weeks ago and I was blown away by the studio and it's employees. The studio is big, bright and very clean. The entire staff was very helpful when I asked questions. After looking at the artists portfolio I decided to get my tattoo done by Cory, and let me tell you he was the nicest guy I've spoken to. He helped me calm down after I had troubles with driving downtown so I was a little late and was just super helpful and gave me step by step instructions of what he was going to do and everything. (bonus I got a lollipop through day of my tattoo) My tattoo came out amazing and I could not be happier with the results. I will definitely be back!

I have now gone to JP twice to get piercings - my navel, as well as my 2nd holes in my ear lobe. I would highly recommend him. He is very professional, and his station is very clean. Everything piercing he has done on me is perfect, and I haven't had any issues with the piercings. Also, he is very good at making you feel comfortable before, during, and after your piercing. I don't think I would go anywhere else for my piercings! I would recommend this shop to anyone!

Painted Lotus is unlike any "tattoo/piercing" shop I have ever been into. Most are very pretentious and snobby. At Painted Lotus everyone greets you with a smile and leaves you with a smile. They are all very knowledgeable of the industry and want whats best for you. The shop is spotless and they pride themselves on practicing above the health and safety code standards. I think the best part about Painted Lotus is that you can see that each and every person that is a part of the team loves being there. Its a real family feel. I highly recommend this establishment for any tattoo and body piercing desires.

Usually I do not bother to write here when I'm not satisfied with business, yet, about the important issue of tattoos: hail yeah. Corey from Painted Lotus Studios had a simple task: to tattoo letters in a foreign language. This kind of work is considered particularly simple: to take the printed words from a Word software, and copy it with a copy paper on the skin. During copying, one of the letters was smeared. Thicker than it should be. I notified him, and Corey said not to be worry, he will correct it during while he is tattooing. In tattooing letters, fonts, need to look similar and accurate, even if you do not have an eye of a graphic designer. I put on my headphones and listen to music (to avoid pain). All the time while Corey tattooed me he was talking with others. This is not the first time someone tattooing me and talking at the same time with, for example, potential customers. The bottom line, Cory screwed and tattooed the letter smeared and thicker, as I warned him not to do so. Now, I'm sure that Corey made in the past stunning tattoos. But if you truly professional, you need to concentrate only at the tattoo you're doing at the present time. If you can't, then don't talk to other people. It's part of being a professional tattoo artist. Now Corey's mediocrity is tattooed on me, at least until I have the money to fix it.

I've always had amazing experiences at Painted Lotus Studios. This is a special group of artists, piercers and front desk staff. They are all extremely approachable, helpful and professional. So far I've only been tattooed by Gwen and Corey, but both sessions were fantastic! I was thrilled with my tattoos and both artists made me feel very comfortable and at ease from start to finish. They were very careful to ensure that I was happy with the placement and colours that were chosen before starting and gave great advice on different ways the tattoo could be done, all while asking for my constant input. I highly recommend Painted Lotus. Not only are they a super talented group, but they're also ridiculously fun and positive. Perfect combo, right?

The description of my experience at painted lotus studios in Victoria BC was to say the least, AMAZING! Not only did I walk away with the most beautiful piece of permanent body art, but I walked away feeling like I was a part of the crew. Consult went really well. Everyone was super fun and friendly. Super clean place. I got my half sleeve done here it took 3 sessions, felt like it could have been done in 2 with the amount that got done from session 1 to 2. Was not told about the GST or supply fees. Before I left the consult I confirmed the rate and was no mention of the other fee's and it's not posted anywhere. When I brought my concerns to the artist after my second session as the math didn't add up it was an "oops my bad" and didn't really show concern about it and when you ask about how much longer it is going to take its very vague. When booking the appointments they say you have to be on time or you loose your spot and deposit but if they are running behind its ok. I get there time is valuable but mine is too. I waited about 30 mins each time before I got in the chair. When my sleeve was finished it looked really good but now that it is healed doesn't look finished. And in the end it is going to just cost even more then what I was quoted for it to begin with. So I will Probably just go elsewhere to get it finished. Overall I like 90% of my tattoo. Just felt like since I questioned how everything was going and about the cost getting out of control the remainder was rushed to get me out of their hair. Just a heads up be prepared to pay at the very top end or more of your quote, and beware of the hidden fees.

I just wanted to say that my experience with Scott was AWESOME! He is a true artist and innovator. I had my first addition to my sleeve last night and I couldn't be happier. I think Scott should get a raise and promotion....or something. He actually talked and had a conversation (in my experience with the pieces I have already, the artists I worked with didn't talk or even have a conversation while I was getting work done.) I think having a conversation while getting work done is super important as tiny needles are getting dug into your skin!! Obviously will be returning to finish my sleeve and will be working with Scott! Thanks again!!! So pumped!

It's going to be hard to find a more welcoming and chill environment for people looking to get tattooed by highly talented and friendly people. I've never stepped into PL and thought I wasn't cool enough to be part of the clientele. Everyone, reception to piercer to artist are lovely people who are down to get cool art onto folks. I hear good things about other studios and I'm sure those comments are true; for my money, Painted Lotus has the most diverse and talented crew of tattoo artists in Vic City. I wear all of the work I've gotten done there over the years with pride.

I’ve been 3 times for tattoos with Emily, but the whole staff is so friendly and upbeat. You can tell they’re supportive of each other which makes for such a positive environment. Emily in particular is a fabulous tattoo artist, she’s very gentle and quite quick; my pieces are all black work but she touched up a healed piece and did two smaller pieces in under an hour session. I would definitely consider this place a higher end shop who doesn’t sacrifice quality or cleanliness. Good tattoos aren’t cheap. I can’t recommend this place enough!

I got my nose pierced by JP and he was wonderful! Super nice guy and makes you feel very comfortable with the whole process. Explained every step and talked me through the actual piercing so well. I didn't get my ears done by him but he fixed my half grown over ear piercing in about 5 seconds with absolutely no pain, and better yet, no charge! He is such a lovely person that I would recommend to anyone! Also will bend any new jewelry you buy to fit your nose for free:)

Getting poked by needles can be intimidating but if you're getting a piercings done here then you have absolutely nothing to worry about! I've had several piercings done by JP here and every single time it's been such an awesome experience!! Quick and painless! I would give JP a hire rating than 5 stars if I could! I called JP and booked a nose piercing session for that same day. When I got there I had my 2 children with me he was Really friendly and welcoming! He was so informative and explained to me what I needed to do for after care and even told me to come in if I wanted at anytime to have him check up on it or if I needed help changing my nose ring later on he would love to help free of charge. I cant even begin to tell you how wonderful this man really is and how much he truly cares about his clients he even let my kids come up to hold my hand lol. You rock JP I can safely say if I ever get anything pierced again I will only be coming to you.

I just got my industrial piercing yesterday by J.P and he was amazing! He let me know every step he was taking to make sure everything was clean, safe, and perfect. He made sure he let me know there was going to be no surprises about pain or when he was going to pierce me. He was very, very nice and I definitely recommend him to anyone not sure of where to go to get a piercing done. He knows what he's doing and he really cares about what he's doing! While it's not completely finished yet, it's already impossible to tell it's a cover-up if you don't know what was there before! Gwen's artistic style and use of colour are absolutely gorgeous, and the quality of her work is phenomenal. If you're considering getting a piece by Gwen, don't be intimidated by her long wait list - her work is well worth the wait! I really enjoyed last years Star Wards Flash event which raised money for the Children's Hospital. They also have many other flash events throughout the year and it is fun to add to my collection while I wait for my next big piece. They are always welcoming and truly seemed to enjoy what they do. Pretty big waste of time. Just had my third consult here for one tattoo. Every time I come down the artist has told me what I’m asking for isn’t their style and they pass it off to a different artist. I 100% understand that... I’m looking for something really unique and specialized. I’m not an unreasonable customer or anything. The problem is they had weeks to decide that and instead of calling or emailing me they made me wait in excitement and then drive all the way down to hear the news. Not very professional. Otherwise it’s a pretty clean shop and if you want a run of the mill average tattoo with minimal prep I’m sure they’re pretty alright. Edit- I appreciate your quick response, nameless owner of shop. You misspelled my name but that’s cool. I just want to emphasize that no part of me is disappointed about how quickly the process was happening or the fact that my idea isn’t a perfect fit for any of your artists. I’m totally fine with that. My problem is with the two artists (you know who they are, I’m not gonna put them on blast) not having the testicular fortitude to pick up the phone or fire off a quick email to tell me that it wasn’t gonna work for them. It cost me hours of my life because I don’t live in Victoria. It makes a customer feel like you don’t value their time as much as you do your own. I’m a business owner too and I’m sorry that your staff are too busy to communicate with your customers like adults.

I went to see Kylie on a recommendation. I couldn't be happier. I had a very difficult and large tattoo (my whole back with a cover-up then wrapped to a half sleeve). I had gone to another shop and the artist's (handsome....) was a pathetic copy from the internet. When I met with Kylie for a consult she sat down and started doing rough sketches and was right on the money. It's like she was in my brain. Many many hours in the chair and I couldn't be happier with the work. Any time someone sees my tattoo their jaw drops and then they ask me who the artist is. They will often spend 5-10 minutes going over all the details. I highly recommend Painted Lotus and Kylie. Great staff, great movie collection, clean and professional!

I have been gone to Painted Lotus for all of my tattoos (10) and piercings (27) and have never had a less than stellar experience. JP is easily the best piercer in town and probably the province. He makes every piercing feel like a gift and takes his time to ensure perfection. Every single tattoo artist is talented and committed. They produce incredible pieces and are all very knowledgeable and experienced. Bubbles takes care of the front counter, she is the loveliest person you'll ever meet (but the rest of the gang are right up there with her). You will have a great experience here whether it's your first tattoo or your 500th. You get what you pay for, which is art!

I wanted a simple tattoo, just some geometric lines. The staff were nice but I was in the last time slot in the day and the artist seemed rushed. The tattoo turned out a little sloppy which is disappointing. I would have happily paid more for a longer appointment and for more time to be taken if I knew more about how things would turn out but I guess since I'd never gotten a tattoo before I didn't know what to ask. I wish I could give their piercer Jean-Paul a separate review because he is great. 5 stars.

Jean Paul is the man. I had a very traumatic experience with my piercings before so I was very nervous to get my nose pierced again. Jean Paul made my boyfriend & I feel at ease. Did not rush or pressure us. he is very knowledgable and VERY patient. I LOVE MY PIERCING AND MY EXPERIENCE. I would HIGHLY recommend this place for piercings. Jean-paul is the best peircer in town hands down. I have a septum by one piercer, a couple on the ear from another, and nostrils from Jean-Paul. After I got the nostrils pierced two complications arose on different days and I went to Jean-Paul and he had me in and out in minutes with no charge. He's gentle, informative, and a bright human being.

It’s warm, welcoming, incredibly clean and they play really great music! Most importantly every single one of the artists is friendly, talented, skilled, and do really great work. Gwen did a sleeve for me and as you can see from the photo it is absolutely stunning. I get compliments from strangers whenever I have it out, stare at it all the time and can’t believe it’s actually my arm! She is phenomenally skilled and does incredible work - would you believe some of this sleeve is drawn freehand with a pen?! Wow! It was also an absolute pleasure to spend a significant amount of time with her. Gwen is also the shop owner and is very committed to providing a safe space for women and every single client who walks through the doors. All the artists are highly trained and take workshops to keep their skills and knowledge up to date. If you’re feeling nervous at all about getting your first tattoo or anything at all, be confident you are in the best hands here! I truly can’t recommend Painted Lotus enough!

Think twice before you give a deposit to Painted Lotus. Their deposit policy does a great job of protecting their artists, but does little to protect potential customers. I gave Ian a $500 deposit towards a large back piece. I met with him twice to discuss the tattoo and provided many reference pictures and a detailed desciption of what I wanted. Months later the tattoo that was presented to me looked nothing like what we had discussed. He refused to make any changes to the tattoo. I was left with the decision of either forfeiting my $500 deposit or getting a tattoo that was nothing like what I had asked for and meant nothing to me. We then agreed that I could put the $500 towards a different tattoo in his portfolio that he had already previously drawn up. He then recanted on that and insisted on keeping my deposit because I didnt want the original tattoo. In the end they agreed to return $100 to me so I only ended up spending $400 for absolutely nothing. Thanks for the great experience Painted Lotus!
