Got my septum pierced here, I was excited as I have wanted one for a very long time. The piercer was very nice and it was super welcoming. The problem was when she pierced it and the results. I was uncomfortable during the piercing and the placement was terrible. It is too low and crooked. I have to get it repierced at a different place now. I would not recommend getting septums done here. I cannot speak on other services because they may be great and based on the portfolio tattoos seem wonderful. Please look further into these things before getting it done. I learned the hard way haha.

Me and my friend went there to get our tragus's pierced. We were a walk in and got in right away. They were very nice to us! Everything was very sterile and us being dental students we look for that! The piercing was fast and she was great answering all our questions! Will go back if I ever wanna get another piercing!

Wife and I had booked an appointment for tattoo sessions together to have our kids name's done up on a reference from a friend. I was nervous as it was my first tattoo. Amazingly done work never would regret getting more tattoos done with Julia. Fast forward 3 years the tattoo still looks as amazing as it did when it was all healed up. Clear crisp lines nice and even with nice fill in. I know it's not a giant work of art but it means the world to me and to have it done right all the better. I have been planning on memorial tattoo for my father and I wouldn't go anywhere else. To all you negative reviewers eat a d**k, you all sound like you want to blame someone else for you lack of planning or poor care or poorly planned work. Especially 1 star rating with no explanation.... some people's children... end of rant. Keep up the good work Julia and I plan to see you soon.

Now I obviously cannot speak on their tattoo work however if you're thinking of going here (especially for a septum piercing) please DON'T. GO ANYWHERE ELSE. I came to Julia two years ago to have my septum pierced. I was rushed through the whole process. Julia herself did not talk to me about anything. She did not allow me to see the placement of where she was piercing me (Yes, any reputable place will allow you to check the placement for ANY type of piercing). I would have been able to see the dots and where they were placed. While piercing me she stopped part way through rudely telling me that my scrunching from the pain was bothering her (she was being quite rough and yes piercings hurt but there's a right and wrong way to do things). I was scrunching because unbeknownst to me since she DID NOT ALLOW ME TO VIEW THE PLACEMENT, I was pierced through my cartilage (septum piercings are done through the skin inside your nose), and it was done way to low. She did not tell me what gauge I was being pierced at or the jewellery type she had used/its materials and I am allergic to most metals so this was a big concern but she was rushing so I just hoped for the best. I also did not get any information on how to care for my piercing. Unhappy with my piercing placement they took it out and Julia repierced me for free a second time which I was grateful for and she was much kinder the second time around. She asked me where I wanted the placement (the proper placement of where a septum piercing should be) but when I showed her she moved it downwards saying that that spot would be too high (this was due to her piercing me with jewellery that was far too small because she had pierced me far too low the first time) so again she pierced me through cartilage. Because of this I had a septum piercing that wouldn't heal for over a year (not to mention jewellery I had to throw away because of my allergy) until I just finally took it out. I'm now waiting to go to Eye of the Lotus to have it repierced by someone who knows what they're doing.

I actually knew of Julia when she worked at Orchid before, I had gotten my nose pierced there. I remember going in after it closed up on me when I took it out for an hour and she basically repierced it for the cost of changing the ring ($10). This is my first tattoo and Julia did a fabulous job! During the consultation, when she saw my design, I liked how she knew right away how long it would take(it took about 4 hours, she was correct). Communication coming up to the appointment was crystal clear and straight forward. She was extremely professional and the tattoo session was painless, except when she was shading the roses, which is expected. And I liked that she would do piercings in the middle of the session so that there would be short breaks. I would absolute recommend going to Julia's Body Art and getting a tattoo by Julia :) I wish my moving date was later in the year so that I could go back and get another tattoo from her!!!

Julia, Julia, Julia what an unprofessional businesswoman. Not only did you show up three minutes before the appointment, due to running to the grocery store, and not even properly greet myself and my friend who had come early (we did not ask to be seen early we simply waited patiently). However you also opened up Microsoft word, told my friend to write out the quote she wanted by herself along with picking a font which she had already sent to you a month in advance, while you were nowhere to be found, and laughed at her when she said she had changed her mind about the original piece she wanted when she had told you several weeks before that she only wanted a quote. We would have left if she had not left a $100 deposit. The tattoo did not being until about 5:20. While doing the tattoo on her rib cage, which is insanely sensitive, she politely asked for a break and you asked her if she was serious. Very very unprofessional. You also claimed that you have never personally gotten a tattoo so I find it very unfair that you told her she was “acting like a baby” when all she was doing was asking for a break and wasn’t even complaining. After the tattoo was finished you left the room and didn’t come back for at least ten minutes to the point where I had to come and get you. You also answered the phone while tattooing your client and laughed at the client over the phone and yelled that you don’t have a system. You left no after care instructions as well as threatened to charge for the drawing that she had told you she no longer wanted. While your artwork was good you were extremely rude and did not welcome us at all. I am simply disgusted and will never return or recommend anyone to your shop. Have a good day and I hope that you remember to go run errands after you have a scheduled appointment. The only reason I am posting this review is because my friend is extremely distraught.

An amazing place to go if you want to get piercings and tattoos done. It is a little hard to get a hold of Julia as she is constantly busy being hands-on with her clients but still well worth the time and effort to come in. The several experiences I've had going in here have always been amazing and professionally done. I would definitely recommend it looking here for both piercings and tattoos. Will be using her services more in the immediate future for several different tattoos.

We had a great experience here! We were looking for a shop to do two small tattoos on impulse. We had to send in a reference picture over Facebook before they accepted us and we got them done same day! Even showed up super early by accident and we were accomodated. I was amazed how much work was put in for a walk-in, going over several size and design options for the tattoos. The pricing was amazing too. We're both super happy with the end result and would definitely recommend this shop!

It was fine. I got a vertical Labret. It was a little rushed and the piercer never went over how to clean and take care of it. He just gave me a pamphlet and saline spray. I just wanted to ask this.. the top of my labret sits in between my lips and it’s a little uncomfortable + it’s hidden. I just got it done yesterday, and it’s swelling. I was wondering if this would go down in a few days, or will I have to get it redone? I really don’t have the money to get it redone.

I went in to get my ear lobes pierced about two weeks ago. Everything went good, I was able to see where he wanted to pierce to confirm I liked it which I noticed some other reviewers said wasn’t an option for them. They gave me a spray to go and a piercing care pamphlet and I’ve had no problems since then. One thing I will note is that the jewelry that was put in is curved as some other reviews also talked about. My friend said it looked like something they’d typically use for an eyebrow piercing or something. Not sure why this was chosen or why everyone’s getting these curved guys, but thankfully because I only got my earlobe pierced it’s really not a problem for me.

While Julia used good technique for piercing my nipples last January, she uses EXTERNALLY threaded CURVED barbells. 9 months in I needed to go get them changed to internal straight threads at Atomic Zombie because the curvature and quality of metal was extremely sub par. Had I been wiser I would have gone to a place that doesn’t use low quality and inappropriate jewelry.

Unfortunately I Have To Give This Place 1 Star For Their Piercing Skills. I Had My Tounge Incorrectly Pierced By Julia About 2 And A Half Weeks Ago. It Was Pierced Crooked Through The Muscle, To Far Forward And With To Short Of A Bar. I Was Never Shown In The Mirror What The Piercing Looked Like And I Was Rushed In And Out In 10 Minutes. When I Got Home To Look At It I Realized She Totally Missed The Dot She Had Made For A Marking Point. I Now Have Spent 70$ On A Wasted Tounge Ring That I Have To Go And Spend Another 90$ To Be Repierced Correctly. They Offered To Repierce It But I Have Lost Trust In Them. If You Cant Do A Piercing Properly Please Just Dont Pierce People. Wish I Could Get My Money Back. ????

I have been going to Julia for years. I have had a couple tattooed done by other artists, and I have been extremely happy with all of them however Julia's honestly been the best. I have had my others touched up and fixed thanks to her, I have added a large amount of artwork to my body and it has all been done by her. Everyone is constantly commenting on it and giving me compliments on how nice it is. I always say who it's done by and where she is. After talking with my girlfriend who went here to get her septum pierced this place seem incredibly unprofessional. She spent some time looking over the reviews and decided to give the shop the benefit of the doubt, but it turns out that all of the 1 star reviews were spot on. Julia seemed cold and detached as well as not terribly personable. When my girlfriend attempted to ask questions before getting the piercing Julia only rushed her decision along rather making her feel comfortable about being stab through the face. While prepping the piercing she didn't allow my girlfriend to see where she had marked before executing it. Not to mention she didnt prepare her for the piercing to happen (where as most piercers will prepare you by having you take a breath). During the actual piercing itself she stopped halfway through the process (to do God knows what) before continuing once again with no warning. She was incredibly rough while inserting the jewelry. After the piercing was finished instead of talking her through aftercare Julia just tossed a pamphlet at her. Afterwards Julia insisted that she pay with the cash she saw in my girlfriends wallet even though she requested a couple of times to pay by card (there was an available card reader which seems incredibly sketchy and unprofessional). Over all this was a negative experience and she won't be returning or recommending this place. Do yourself a favor WEM is less then 10 minutes away with better shops to choose from. Edit: This is a response to the owners reply. I have no clue what the story about the 4 teenage girls has to do with my review. It was a nice way to try and put the blame for your shotty work and poor customer service on a fake story. No when my girlfriend was in your shop she was the only one there. As for the "take a breath" thing goes every single piercer that I have talked to since says they do it that way. They say it's a way to prepare the customer for the pain because that breath is easier to deal with than a flinch from the pain.

Once we got their she had told us we weren’t able to get 2 out of the 3 tattoos we came for so my friend couldn’t even get one done. I’ve had two tattoos done here by Julia. The first I was very happy with, the second was not placed centred on my back but I didn’t say anything because at the time I couldn’t tell. Yesterday I brought my friend to get a septum piercing for her. Goergian didn’t check or mark the area, just grabbed the needle and went for it. It was awful, but instead of denying he could do a proper piercing he went in a second time still without pinching, marking or feeling to find the correct position again. The second one, although not as bad as the first was left hanging extremely low and off centre. When she asked him about what was up with it his response was “your nose is just crooked”. Needless to say I’m angry with what happened, genuinely disgusted by his attitude and remarks. When I find time I will be coming in to get a full refund as she didn’t express her concern or dislike for it until we had left. My friend is distraught to the point where she won’t come in with me to do so. Please do not let Goergian pierce you if you want your stuff done properly and professionally. Hope this was helpful for those of you looking to get piercings or any work for that matter done here.

I wanted to get my lobes pierced and Julia's Body Art has got to have one of the best customer service experiences that I have ever had the privilege of receiving. Aside from the very affordable prices that don't break the bank, the receptionist/tattoo artist, Mark, was very knowledgeable about the different types of piercings, how they heal, and the various jewelry styles. He also answered all my questions thrown at him to the best of his ability; his humor was also uplifting and made the conversation interactive and the overall signing procedure enjoyable. Julia is amazing, she is a wonderful, sweet, and humble lady that ensures that your piercing will turn out the way you like it; I have 0 issues with this establishment and I highly recommend coming here. If I ever consider getting a helix piercing in the near future, I am absolutely coming back to Julia's Body Art.

This shop doesn't display professionalism and worst of all, horrible customer service is what they offer. Had a tattoo done in early July and a touch-up was necessary since the inks didn't even seep into the skin's dermis in some areas. I contacted her for an appointment in advance. However, when I was there for a touch-up, Julia was tattooing other customer claiming that I didn't confirm my appointment in such rude tone. (She insisted that I gave her a wrong number) Therefore, she cancelled my appointment without my consent! Not to mention that it was my last day in Alberta and I had no alternative dates which she knew all along. Despite an outrageous rage, I kept it to myself at first, and I told her I can wait an hour to get the service done. After an hour, she suddenly came to me and said the touch-up will cost $30 saying I took a horrible care. She seems to confuse the term between a scab and bare flesh. I got furious and just took off since she wasn't planning on doing touch-ups anyways. Most tattoo shops provide touch-ups at no cost unless the care was horribly done and her website clearly says touch-ups are free unless the tattoo was not cared properly. Now she blames me for tattoo care although I did everything she had asked me to. Insufficient skills, and horrible customer service can best describe this shop. Oh, don't forget to bring cash since she doesn't take any sorta bank cards. ( No receipt provided of course and some of you may have an idea what this means )

She was no help, didn't offer to come up with design, was told to come back with exactly what I wanted. She didn't seem excited about anything, just seemed annoyed. Got my very first tattoo by Julia when I was 16. (I'm 21 now.) At first I was super proud of it and excited. What 16 year old wouldn't be? I got it fixed a little over a year ago by a friend of mine who is a tattoo artist. Before I got it fixed, it had inconsistent line work, it had random dots, it wasn't smoothly done, certain parts of it looked nothing like they did when she drew it and when the stencil was on. She rushed through it and seemed like she didn't actually want us there. I was told that I would get a free touch up on it. When I went back for the free touch up, she said no and said that she would touch it up if I got another tattoo. I walked out and have never got anything done by her again. I know other people who have gotten stuff done by her that went badly as well. I do not recommend going to her at all.

After getting my tattoo awhile back on my leg done here I decided to come back for nipple piercings. First of all Julia was not making me or my friend comfortable whatsoever didn’t even show us her marking before I had to ask to see it before putting a needle through. Not knowing much about piercings I didn’t know that they require a straight bar and not a curved bar bell. She pierced my AREOLA not even my nipple. And used curved bar bells I had taken them out awhile back after getting an infection and today decided to get them re done at Pitbull tattoo/piercing. The lady told me my piercing was so far from my nipple that she was surprised I had paid for it. She also pierced me with proper jewellery afterwards and after seeing the quality it is no where near what I had before. I would never recommend Julia, such horrible customer service I’m surprised there still open.

I got three tattoos done by the owner. She really messed up my hand touch ups, poor shaky lines and made them thicker and uglier. The placements good. Got a thigh tattoo and she was good with the placement as well. Did not get the colour that I wanted and did what she decided to do. Overall, same review as others. Took multiple calls and multiple breaks to cover front. Didn’t change gloves out between three different customers. Doesn’t listen to direction from customers. Hand tattoos bad, thigh tattoo alright. It’s an alright place to go, just make sure you’re direct with the artist.

While she does my tattoo she walked out so many times to did the percing for many different girls at the same time but i noticed she didnt wash her hand or change new gloves. That was very not hygienist i got so sick after got my tattoo there hopefully its not from there. But its not right when she does a lil bit of tattoo on my hand then stop and go do different services then come back and continue on the tattoo again that was not professional at all????. It happened the same thing with my friend too.
