I was there this past weekend on vacation and I went in there to get my septum pierced and they pierced it WAY too low on my nose and my whole nose and upper lip and even my front teeth hurt, it felt like I was punched in the face, DO NOT get pierced here!

I thought they did a really good job. Right when we walked in they were welcoming and nice. I did a walk in and i got in within 10-15 minutes. Then I got wan he was very polite and he knew exactly what I was wanting. He told my friends and I cool stories that had happened to him and I found it fascinating. So I worked with DJ on this piece of a sleeve I have wanted to get started. And I just have to say it was an amazing experience. DJ was very accommodating and knowledgeable. He was also very personable and gave me ideas to support a lesson plan on teaching about tattooing as a career path to my art students. I would go back here 1000% and still might for a touch up of my chest piece even though we left the area. I might travel back. Seriously loved the vibe. Everyone is super sweet and fun and loves what they are doing. Thank you guys for awesome costumer service and great quality. My tattoo is BEAUTIFUL.

Excellent, Clean, professional & friendly service. I was tattooed my Austin. I got an elephant on my side thigh. Austin drew up an amazing realistic looking elephant which was perfect for what I was looking for, we decided to add some flowers also. It was a pleasure been tattooed my Austin he made me feel comfortable and was great to talk to. The tattoo was a reasonable price for the size. I have had tattoos before and after my experience at Mackinaw tattoo & honestly this is my favorite one. When I want another tattoo I would go out of my way to put my trust at Mackinaw Tattoo.

My friend and I came in here within an hour of them closing and they were kind enough to fit us in. This was my first time getting a piercing at actual shop and it was a great experience! Everyone was very nice and personable ???? if you're in the city and looking for a different kind of souvenir, I definitely recommend this place. Note: I would call ahead and make an appointment much before hand! It is a small place and just because we were able to get in, doesn't mean that will be the case everytime.

We were on a girls trip the UP and I had promised my niece I would get a tattoo with her before she went to college. After trying a few places and finding everyone only taking appointments and no walk-ins, we almost gave up. We decided to look for a place in Mackinaw on our last day before heading back down. We called Mackinaw Tattoo and were greeted by a very friendly lady who gave us the most excellent news: they take walk-ins and are open at noon. In the hours before our arrival, we talked the other two in to getting tattoos as well, so now we needed 4! We got there around 12:15 and they already had people on the waiting list for the day. We jumped on as well, and after a few stores and some pizza, we got the call it was our turn. We had a newbie with us and Josh had been the artist there when we first arrived. He handled her nerves superbly and worked on a design she would love. He did two great memorable script tattoos for my niece and I, then a sweet small one for my Mom. He was great at maintaining rapport, keeping us going and making us feel very welcome. While we were taking turns getting tatted up, my niece had her rook pierced by Mike and she talked me into getting my nose pierced. Mike was super professional, kept it simple and easy and made me feel at ease before and after my nose piercing. Great service, friendly and comfortable atmosphere. I will surely be back to this place!

My friend called Mackinaw Tattoo on a Saturday and asked when was the soonest she could get in to get a small lip tattoo. The man on the phone said he could get her in the next day as he only had 2 other appointments. He said he would call back tomorrow at 12 when they open to let her know when she could come in. 1pm rolls around Sunday and still she had not heard back from them, so she calls to inquire on when she could come in and to ask if there was room for her friend to get a small tattoo as well. The guy says to come at 2 and that he could fit the friend in after. They drive an hour and arrive at 2 to find that they had not schedule the friend and that she would have to go on the bottom of the list behind 6 other people. They drove from out of town to get there and now wouldn’t be able to both get tatted. On top of that, she had to wait 2 more hours after they said they’d be ready for them to mention FOR THE FIRST TIME that there was a $100 minimum. Least to say no one got tatted but wasted two hours of their day for no reason. The man at the desk clearly had not spoken to his fellow employee and lacked any sort of communication on scheduling. They also don’t schedule by appointment so there is no sense at all of when you should come in, absolutely no organization to their system. Instead of taking responsibility for the error, the man was rude and argumentative, never apologizing. If they can’t schedule appointments, I wouldn’t let them touch me with a needle. The man also started mocking my friend before they left the shop... DO NOT GIVE THEM YOUR BUSINESS.

The workspace was cluttered and seemingly unclean for starters. All DJ did was complain about his coworkers the whole time and that's not to say how rough he actually tattooed. Areas of my tattoo that should of been hit once or twice was gone over 6 times in some spots! I'm an avid tattoo guy and I know when an area is being overworked. I will have to wait for my wrist to heal so I can have another artist reline and touch up my ink. Save the money and time and go to another shop that actually appreciates the art.

This place doesn't deserve any stars. I called in advance today since I had a long drive to get there. They closed over an hour early with no explanation or apology. Place looked dirty from what I can see anyway. I've been to many different shops in Michigan and Arizona that treat potential customers much better.

Rude. Came in to get a tattoo and they seemed like we were an inconvenience. Waited 3 hours for them to tell us we can’t even get you in today. They had our phone number for our appointment to call when they were ready. Too bad they didn’t call us to let us know they would have time to do a tattoo today. Won’t be back.

I had a tattoo done about two years ago, and I hated it, the line work was poor, and it didn't even look like what it was supposed to be. Yesterday while just about to leave Mackinac city, my friend and I decided to stop in this cool shop. They were kind enough to squeeze us in before closing, although I'm sure that's not always the case. I asked if they could touch up what I had, I forget his name (silver hair, late 20's) did more than I was expecting! I'm in love with my once hated tattoo!! The experience I had was awesome! It was a great way to end my vacation, would definitely recommend!

THEY NEVER CALLED US BACK! Not even to tell us that they ran out of time and ask if we could reschedule! My fiance was disappointed it was her 21st birthday weekend and was really looking forward to getting a tattoo her first time in Mackinaw.

So, I'm taking a motorcycle trip to Detroit August 1st to see my mom. So, I contacted this shop about having my sleeve tattoo finished. Was told to send some pics of what I have done so far and a general idea of what I wanted. Was told that yes or no, either way, someone would get back to me. On June 7th, I sent the pics in in fb messenger. Nobody has contacted me yet. Nobody ever reached out to me to say no they can't do it. Or, to ask for more context. I've not heard anything from anyone. What a shame, I have a $2,000 budget. that's with a $100 tip. So unprofessional. I have many tattoos. Yes or no, I always heard back from someone. It's all good now. booked a appointment with another shop who contacted me 2 days later. They will gladly take $2,000. Mackinaw Tattoo, you've lost out.

This was my first time getting my ears pierced with a needle ( I had always gone to clairs before to get the gun. Don’t do that.
