Had a 6pm appointment that was scheduled in advance. Called to confirm as I was leaving work, no answer. Show up to my appointment, doors locked and closed. No one contacted me to cancel. Ended up going to Revelations a few buildings down. Nice and clean environment, friendly staff! I got my tattoo done by Beau, he did an amazing job! And absolutely loved it!

I went in over the weekend to get a tattoo in memory of my aunt who recently passed away. Kelly was my tattoo artist. I took in a design idea I created and Kelly took the idea and went above and beyond what I could have ever come up with on my own. I cry happy tears every time I look at it!!! She did an absolutely beautiful job. It means so much to me and Kelly was so very sweet. Kelly, thank you from the bottom of my heart! You're amazing and I recommend this studio to anyone looking at getting work done here. The atmosphere is uplifting, happy and all of the artists are incredibly nice. I will be referring all of my family and friends who are wanting tattoos to come here! If I could give this place more than 5 stars, I would. :)

I went in to inquire about a tattoo. As I'm walking in the first thing I notice is dust and debris on the floor...probably has been there for a long time because IT WAS ALOT. After I'm in I was greeted by a lady who lacked any kind of customer service skills and asked what I wanted. After I described what I would like to have she walked to the back and talked to someone and I heard them say "no, just go ask (name I can't remember) So she continues to go to another area and knocks on the door to a room another artist was in. She gives a description of what I was wanting through the door and the artist told her shed be out in a minute. After about a minute I was greeted by the artist. By this time, however, I was completely turned off and decided to take my money elsewhere. I'm not sure how this place has been in business for so long because I certainly did not feel welcomed.

I saw that my sister posted a review for Illustrated Man and noticed some other reviews that I was shocked to read. I have never been tattooed here but I have been pierced. I have my tragus, nose, conch, and belly button here all in the past 3 years. He is really good at not making things awkward or high stress! I always get super nervous before a piercing. Clint was the one that helped me gauge my ears as well. The only issue I had was that my conch took forever to heal, but that has nothing to do with Clint. I really like the overall environment of the shop and its always a pleasure to se Jack =D

I messaged Kelly about some lotus flowers that I wanted done after talking to her in the shop and she never got back with me. The shop is seriously run down and needs a facelift badly. It is dirty and old. They had an awesome artist there named Dart and he did stellar work, but he’s moved to a different shop now called Classic Tattoo at 8934 W. 95th St, Overland Park KS. He started a piece before he went to Illustrated Man and then once he got settled there, he picked back up and finished it. He’s now in an awesome shop that is clean and open and the floor isn’t broken and you can actually move in his room. He’s phenomenal in his work and an impeccable man of his word. He would never leave someone “high and dry” and absolutely would never steal money. Never. Go see him at his new shop and get quality work done that you will be proud to show off.

My tattoo is horrible. It’s been years and it’s getting sooooo much more horrible. DO NOT GET A TATTOO HERE!!! When I first got the tattoo...the lines were horrible. The loops of the infinity sign is just lines connecting practically and one side is thicker than the other. There is soooo much scarring and the feather is just a dark uneven outline with some “shading”. Years later, the ink has just bled into my skin (obviously tattoos wear) but the letters are starting to come together and the scarring is still there. It’s just horrible looking. Again::::DO NOT GO HERE!! The person who did my tattoo is the owner of the place I believe, he kept saying he was one of the first parlors to open in Missouri...wow

Several years ago I got my left tragus pierced and wanted to get my right done as well. I went to Clint at Illustrated man and he matched it perfectly!! Not only that but it hurt waaay less when he did it. Loved it so much I went back and had him pierce my nose. My first nose piercing that I had done in Montana got infected and I had to take it out. Each piercing that Clint has done has healed very nicely and looks great. I highly recommend him!

Went in almost a year ago for my first tattoo. A super tiny one on my wrist. I was clearly a nervous wreck with it being my first tattoo and they did not help my nerves at all! They were rude and it didn't look like what I wanted. When I told Jack(who did my tattoo), he said there's no other way. It's meaningful and the work was good but the service wasn't great.

First off let me say that people that get a tattoo and have a bad experience of course they are going to write a bad review and what not. Now with that said...If you want a relaxing and great experience in classic laid back setting with no intimidation, stare downs, ego trip and attitudes then go here. Jack "The Illustrated Man" did my tattoo. It was a very important tattoo that I got from him that was a serious devotion to my faith. The shop was very clean and sterile, The Receptionist was fantastic and she greeted me and with no hesitation engaged in conversation and helped me. I went in and got scheduled a couple hours later with Jack. He was very thorough and explained a better location for my tattoo and didn't just go with the flow and tagged it where I wanted it because it wouldn't of taken the ink at the location that I wanted to do it on in the first place. He is a very considerate Artist and has been doing this for a very long time since I believe he said since 1972. There was no hard core music playing to give you a headache and he had a lot of memorabilia to look at while getting work done from generations of life. Along with movies playing. To me, that is what I needed for the experience. It was a classic flat out awesome setting. His prices are more than fair and and does flat out awesome work! He did my tattoo and nailed it spot on! The ink took well and it turned out well..I don't have the words. Thank you Jack and thank to his Receptionist. Very nice and considerate and respectful. I am going to end this here but just know that I could go on writing good things about this shop. Like I said once again, It all depends on the person as to the environment they like but for me this was it!! Thank you much! Flat out.....I WILL NOT GO ANYWHERE ELSE!!!!

I had Jack do several old school Sailor Jerry tats. This was almost 16 years ago, about 7 of them almost 20 years ago, and the ones that didn't get any sun still look great! I was making lunch and wondered if ol' Jack was still working, and sure thing, he's still at it! Keep on keepin' on Jack, you're a great artist. I get compliments all the time on the ones that show when I wear short sleeves. Ignore the complainers on here, they always want 500 bucks worth of work for 25.
