The Black Market is always one of my favorite spots to stop into when I'm in Halifax. The products are ever changing and I get behind their core beliefs as a business. I have multiple of their shawls, they are of fantastic quality; I use them year round. Staff are kind, knowledgeable and well versed in a products origins. Great place to pick up gifts of all sizes and price points.

This place smells amazing! Would highly recommend it if you're into incense, crystals, exotic wares, jewelry, or neat trinkets. I go here to buy bulk incense, as they have a great deal on for 10 sticks of your choice. My only complaint is that you can't divide your incense by type, you must buy more than one bag and remember which one is which.

Its certainly a little gem of a place that makes your eyes dart from corner to corner. I am a big fan of colour and cute little things.....and ooh shiny! Whether you are shopping for your mum or friends from work, there's a little something for everyone in the store. The smells and trinkets remind me of being home. The items are reasonably priced and certainly authentic. On shopping in bazaars in different parts of Asia, you are thrown back there because of the nature how things are arranged inside. Black Market is one of those stores that is great for a girl's day out, because you could spend a good hour in there looking around for jewelry, incense, decorative pieces for your house or what have you. Go, feast your eyes!

My wife loves this place. She wears a lot of the clothing they have there because she has a long body and that kind of flowy stuff looks good on her. I decided to check it out after the Pride parade on a hot, humid day so it was crowded and muggy, but would be fine otherwise. A small space, but they use it well - every corner was jam-packed with stuff. I was slightly disappointed by the selection of scarves and purses, but impressed with the jewellery selection.

There are intensely colourful and eclectic pieces stuffed into every little nook and cranny. You discover something new every time you come here. DO NOT SUPPORT THIS PLACE IF YOU ARE BLACK/ALLY OR PERSON OF COLOR. I was racially profiled (as well as other black people that I know). I was curious since their store front looked unique but was followed around while I was perusing and could feel eyes on me the entire time. I was not dressed indecently but simply because I was black, it was obvious that I was the only one being followed around by the sales clerks. I was forced to leave because I was so uncomfortable. The items are also not of good quality and simply lean into a watered down south asian aesthetic but for the white populace (the whole model of black market). Please support other minority stores and do the work to educate yourself. Don't purchase these items if you do not know the cultural significance behind them just because they look pretty hanging on your wall or a cute jewelry accessory. NO BLACK PERSON/ALLY/BLM SUPPORTER SHOULD SUPPORT THIS STORE.

Nice downtown spot of neat curios and imported items. We have quite a few nicknacks around our place from here. One fair warning, due to heavy incense if you have scent allergies may want to steer clear or limit to short bursts which is what I do.

Cheap knick knacks (jewelry, insense, sculptures, clothes) presumably sourced mostly from south/south easily Asia. Great destination for inexpensive unique gifts and jewelry including for piercings of all types. Those with environmental sensitivities or claustrophobia stay away. A fixture in Halifax for decades and worth a visit if this is your thing.
