I made an appointment with Miranda to re-pierce my earlobes. I had them done at a salon with a piercing gun a few years ago, and they never seemed to heal completely (recent struggle with a cheap earring meant that one of them would flare up if I put an earring in for just a second). She spent a lot of time going over the procedure, after-care etc. and made sure I was happy with the placement for the piercings. The actual piercing didn't hurt nearly as much as I thought it would. A few weeks later I haven't had any issues with my piercings, highly recommend, and wish I had been able to see her the first time around.

Extremely fast response through email, quick booking, I got a very minimal tattoo done by David. He did a really good job and was very personable. Made the experience better as I had a regular tattoo artist when I was living in London, Ontario so I was a bit nervous going to someone new but I have zero regrets. Once he was ready went over the design which exceeded my expectations, we played with placement a couple times then went at it. Was very non rushed and professional. For my first tattoo experience it was absolutely phenomenal. A clean, welcoming shop the moment you walk in. The staff are friendly, and so nice to talk to. My artist was Kevin and I can't say enough about what a professional he was. He was a pleasure to collaborate with. Kevin took his time and made sure that I was getting exactly what I wanted. I never once felt rushed when talking with him, and he was so patient during the process of applying and reapplying the stencil. Before Kevin began the tattoo he told me whatever I needed during the process, he was more than happy to work with me through that. Whether it was stretching my arm or taking a drink of water Kevin was always accommodating. For a first timer, I was so unbelievably thrilled with my experience and the final result was amazing. Free World Tattoo is a 5 star organisation.

I had a not great experience with another shop with replacing some of my piercings and Miranda was so kind, attentive and informative about my old rings and gave me lots of important info on my new, better quality rings. She also adjusted my tragus ring so it would not be annoying with my headphones (in the eight years I've had this ring - did not know this was an option). Would highly recommend Free World and their staff!

This is hands-down my favourite tattoo and piercing place in Ottawa, and I would recommend it to everyone, and anyone. What I like the most about this place, is that it's outside of the Rideau Street piercing and tattoo jungle, meaning that the prices are actually a lot more reasonable, and the staff is a lot more friendly. I went in one day, and just chatted with the staff for an hour about tattoos and piercings. That's definitely not something you could do at a downtown shop. On June 30, 2016, I went and got matching tattoos with my brother. I asked multiple shops around Ottawa for estimates. I was getting anywhere from $120CAD - $150CAD per tattoo. At FreeWorld, we got absolutely stunning work done, for $180CAD for both, with tip included. Piercing and jewelry changes are a lot cheaper. The artists there are all extremely talented, and the shop can do every style of tattoo imaginable. You cannot leave this place unhappy. I will be going to this place a lot in the future.

I was really impressed with the professionalism, especially with David. I appreciated that he was honest that my initial design would not look like I wanted it to, so he took the time to brainstorm with me and come up with an alternate design that was similar to my original idea. The tattoo turned out great, he made it bold enough to last but was able to keep it minimalistic like I wanted. I got the tattoo about two weeks ago and followed all his care instructions. It has healed perfectly without any issues. I also appreciated all the percautions they were taking regarding COVID. You are to switch our your own mask with one of theirs and keep your phone in a bag during the visit. They also don't let more than a few people in at once to maintain social distancing. Overall it was a amazing experience for my first tattoo. There was no shortage of perfesionalism. The artists are there to make sure you have a good tattoo and a good experience.

I have been seeing Randy for my piercings since I moved to Ottawa a year ago. She is the most professional and well-informed piercer I have ever had. She has given me fantastic jewelry and healing recommendations and has been able to help me care for some irritated piercings. She has helped me with down-sizing and rearranging my curated ear. Most recently she performed my tongue piercing and I have had no complications. She only uses high-quality jewelry and orders from companies that are renowned for their materials. She is always willing to help and answer any questions you may have. And as an added bonus she is so much fun to be around. I have never seen her be anything except professional and incredibly polite and I recommend her to everyone who has any piercing or jewelry needs.

5.0 star rating 5/14/2017 I saw Kurt for my first ever tattoo. It was on my lower back which is known as a really sensitive area. I was a little nervous too. He was a great first artist. He talked me through the process before AND during, kept checking in with me, started off nice and slow with short movements so I could get used to it and call it off if I needed to. When I needed him to distract me at first by talking at me, he told me how he got involved in art. Was great at silence and great at conversation. He made everything really comfortable, offered me as much or as little covering as I wanted. Encouraged me to take it slow when I was sitting and standing up. Got me a drink at the halfway point, took pictures for me during the process, and just overall did what he could to make the experience a great one. Already can't wait for my next one.

Can't really say much about the service as I have nothing else to compare it to but the guy redid the temporary outline once or twice so it wasn't slanted. Keep in mind this place is cash-only and they take a deposit before you go in.

Randy is the best piercer I have ever dealt with! She is super friendly and really skilled (paired my nostrils perfectly even though I got them pierced at separate times, works with unique ear anatomy etc.). She tapered my nostril piercing and installed a gorgeous gold seam ring. She was very thorough in her aftercare instructions and was adamant that if I had any questions or concerns, she would be there to answer. I would recommend Miranda for all your piercing needs. I waited almost a year for Greta to do a full heritage sleeve. She is a talented artist so I was willing to wait. I wanted something complex and have high standards. I only got 2 one hour sessions to discuss and plan a full sleeve. She is too busy to dedicate any time to planning and designing a creative and complex tattoo. Don't expect anything beyond copy/paste of Pintrest images. I was going on her exact words, "I won't start anything until you're comfortable". In the end she dropped me as a client mere hours before my first appt. I suspect because she wasn't ready and I demand perfection for my first tattoo. In the end I'm finally ok with how it ended....it'll probably work out for the better. Just letting others know she's busy and you can get dropped after waiting a year.

My tattoo which was essentially a cover up, very simple piece ended up with multiple blow outs, where the ink looks smudged. They later told me green does that sometimes. Really?! It's the artist OJ wasn't particularly friendly and had headphones in the whole time. I now have very noticeable smudges for life. While I was refunded a small portion of the ridiculous amount I was charged, this is what another artist had to say when they offered to "help". "Hey sorry I had to talk to my boss before emailing you back as I was not given much info about your situation. So when we met we talked about either extending the tree branches to cover the halos or to do a background. That’s still pretty much your options as tying to fully cover what you have is not really possible at this point. It’s up to you to decide what you want done with it. I can’t choose that for you. " Needless to say that's not what you wanna hear after they permanently screw up your tatt. Very disappointed would never recommend. Be careful. Tried to post photos. Will try again, it's worth seeing how bad it is.

I'm writing this review because after 2 visits to Freeworld Tattoo shop I'm genuinely confused as to how it's received such a high rating. I initially chose Freeworld for my tattoo because of the great reviews it's received only to be very disappointed. The first tattoo I'd gotten from them was a walk-in, when I entered the shop the artist who ended up tattooing me was sitting on the back couch cushions with their feet on the armrest, which felt very unprofessional. When I went up to the desk and presented my design, I was met with a dismissive remark about it being a small tattoo. The person at the desk then looked at the numerous artists on the couch and asked "does anyone want to do a SMALL tattoo?", to which the artists didn't respond and kept looking at their phones. The person behind the desk then called one of the artists by name and asked them if they would it. Without looking up from their phone, they simply replied "sure", hopped off the couch and led me to their studio. The tattoo itself was done well but I felt very disrespected up until I'd tipped and the artists face lit up and their attitude completely changed. The second time I visited Freeworld I had to convince myself that I just had a one-off experience. All the amazing reviews had to mean something, according to google they were the highest rated shop in the city. I called and made an appointment. Later on I was called back by Freeworld to be told that their was a scheduling error and that my artist (a different artist from my first visit) wouldn't be able to take my appointment that day but that I could reschedule. Totally understandable, that sort of thing happens! As consolation they offered me 50% off my tattoo and I re-booked. When I got to the shop my artist was finishing up a walk-in and I was told I'd need to wait a little longer - no problem, I thought. The artist finished with the client and immediately afterwards the clients friend decided that she also wanted a tattoo. So off my artist went to draw up a design and tattoo another customer before me. I believe I ended up waiting for a total of about 1 hr. - 1.5hrs. after my scheduled appointment to get tattooed. The owner kindly offered to get me coffee from Bridgehead while I waited but I was still really put off by the fact that I was made to wait so long. When I finally got into the studio and presented my design, the artist informed me that due to the placement of my tattoo that they needed to tattoo with a lot more pressure if I wanted it to withstand the test of time, so I agreed. They also touched up the tattoo I previously got at Freeworld. I've healed another 7 tattoos and never have I ever seen a tattoo scab up like this one did. I followed all the aftercare instructions I was given and babied it as I have all of my other tattoos and this piece scabbed so heavily that not only does it look faded but it even has a raised scar on part of it. At first I was blaming myself for how it healed until I took a look at the touch-up job the artist did on my other tattoo only to see that the lines that has been touched up looked like the ink had spread out under the skin (3 months later it still looks this way). On top of that, it looked like the artist sort of gave up half way through my tattoo. At the top, the outline is crisp and as you go down my tattoo the outline is blurry and messy. This artist's hourly rate was $120 and I sat in their chair for about 40 min. When I hopped up the artist told me to tell the front desk that it would be "$100 flat" for my tattoo. I relayed that to the person up front and asked them if that price included the 50% off discount that I'd been promised to which they said yes. The math didn't seem to add up imo but I didn't feel like it was my place to argue. In the end I was left with a very visible tattoo that I'm quite frankly embarrassed to show off (as it was done and healed so poorly). Since sharing my experience I've heard similar reviews in regards to the lack of professionalism and disrespect of customers. Needless to say I will not be returning.

Absolute rudest people I’ve spoken with . I called in explaining my nose piercing fell out when I was sleeping and was hoping to purchase a new one, and have someone put it back in for me. He said the piercer was booked up and I said that’s okay can I just purchase the jewelry . He RUDELY REPLIED “ if your going to go somewhere else with it absolutely not”. My intentions where to attempt to put it back in myself because his piercer was busy , and I was avoiding my piercing closing .. as I tried to explain that to him he rudely hung up. WORST SERVICE EVER !!!

I went in for a nostril piercing, and left with 45 minutes worth of nonsense “aftercare rules”. First of all, my piercing appointment never went through the system properly even after I sent my $10 etransfer deposit for my appointment. The piercer arrived to the shop 20 minutes after my “scheduled” appointment was supposed to begin. I spoke to my friends who have the same piercing, and went to other facilities to get them done and every single one of them was shocked by the overkill rules I was lectured on. I say rules, because the piercer was extremely unfriendly in explaining the cleaning process. I was lectured for 45 minutes in a supposed “5 star tattoo parlour”, only to find out upon arrival to the run-down facility that seemingly had no electricity and reeked of cigarettes was the old location of the parlour and that they now only do piercings at their old location. Immediately after walking in I had an uneasy feeling given the state of the place and the tardiness of the piercer. Her unfriendliness made me uncomfortable with her piercing me. So ultimately, after 45 minutes of useless information and extremely rude customer service, I ended up leaving. I will be getting my piercing someplace else. Waste of time and money.

Freeworld Tattoo is owned and operated by the artists themselves. They believe in their art and want to share it with the world. The experience I had there was nothing but amazing. Gretta designed a piece that is very dear to my heart and it turned out a million times better than I ever expected. The staff is incredibly friendly and makes you feel very welcomed and comfortable. It is truly inspiring to see such a wonderful group of folks who love what they do and who work hard to make sure you get exactly what you want; they are very creative and talented individuals who deserve to be recognized. I think everyone who is thinking of getting a tattoo should consider going to Freeworld first.

Very disappointed by the service. I had an appointment booked and they called to cancel my appointment as I was walking into the shop ( five minutes prior to my appointment). I asked for my deposit back and they said they would send it back the way they received it, which was by e-transfer. I sent multiple emails regarding my deposit and received nothing. I will never book here again. I do not recommend.

Terrible experience! I would definitely not recommend Scott at freeworld. Very unprofessional and could care less about how a customer feels. Not understanding at all and mostly , tattoo was terribly done. Not only does he make you feel un-important he lied repeatedly stating he told me not to get my design done when this is full of bs. It's a shame I trusted him. His emails to me are so disrespecful I am beyond words. :(

I went in with a friend to look at nose rings and the piercer looked at my nose and recommended 3 styles of jewelry that suit my face. While I waited for my friend I chatted with one of the tattoo artists and he showed me some very new style tattoos he had been drawing and suggested I try one so I got a water colour style bird on my arm and I just love it. Amazing price and incredible work, I cannot thank the staff at Free World enough. In the last year I have sung the praises to so many of my friends and they all thank me for telling them about this place. Clean, comfortable, talented and friendly. Thank you all so much, I cant wait to book another session.

Tattoo customer service terribly poor- for a real business- go elsewhere. Piercing artist amazing. CAM, apprentice, booked an 8 hour tattoo session with me (during a 1 hr session) and would not contact me after repeated attempts to discuss my requested design/our appointment. I was not comfortable having a full-day session without discussing further, and all attempts to contact Cam for a reason as to why he didn’t contact me were unanswered. I also spoke to 2 other employees at Freeworld that assured me a response, and I was never contacted. I tried 5 times for any explanation. Artists at Freeworld may be talented, but do not expect customer service if you are not ‘known’ there. I still have no answer as to why, when excited and ready to pay $800+ for a day, neither the apprentice artist Cam nor management would call me back as to a reason for this. A simple “he wasn’t feeling well” or “he was hung over” would have been more professional from the owners than no answer at all. Contact Randy for piercings. Otherwise, if you are new to the tattoo world- look elsewhere if you want any service.

I booked an appointment with Miranda for a nostril piercing and waited weeks (before the pandemic) which I thought was odd but I showed up a few minutes early and was excited. I was told she was late because it was snowing. She walked in late and went into the back to change her boots and such, said she would be going over safety procedures and jewellery, and I was sitting in the lobby for an hour. An hour. I had to go out and put more money in the meter for my car as I only allotted maximum an hour for a piercing. Another half an hour went by and after hearing her walking around and talking to coworkers in the back I said I would need to leave soon as I only had only put another 45 minutes in the meter... She set up and the actually piercing itself took 5 minutes. She then sat me down and explained how to care for a piercing (even though I am heavily tattooed and pierced) and suggested I come back for her to look at it as she likes to do aftercare with her customers. No. Thanks.
