Followed my girl Sav here from her old shop in Mission, and immediately fell in love with the atmosphere of the place. It's a clean studio without feeling industrial and unwelcoming. (The decor in here is rad as hell and I love it) Everyone I spoke to in the shop was friendly and while I waited I was offered drinks and snacks. (Free snacks!!) All the artists are so talented and I've been recommending anyone who asks me where to get a tattoo to Van Bree.

Lumen’s art is stunning, and she has very reasonable pricing. I’m so happy with my tattoos and will one hundred percent be back next time lumen has an opening. I saw Lumen back in Jamuary and she was amazing. The tattoo was everything I hoped for, and she was great to talk with during the two hours I was there. The shop atmosphere was friendly and comfortable. Theres tons of different art on the walls to look at while trying to distract from the tattoo pain. I would definitely recommend this shop and Lumen.

Now I have an appointment with Rhian coming up and I can honestly say I'm so excited for it. This will definitely be our home base shop. Even though we live 4 hours away, I will always make the trip. Cute little shop, have not personally got a tattoo here, the art it pretty nice but when i went in to talk about what i wanted, they refused to talk to me until i showed id, after i did show id they didnt seem to certain about the tattoo i wanted. It does not feel comfortable when the artists doesnt seem or act confident in a tattoo, they estimated 4 hours, for a small tattoo (went to different shop got it completed in 1 hr) and they treated my friend the same way; kinda shrugged her tattoo idea off and said "i guess ill be able to do that?" My friend didnt feel comfortable going there after that, so this might be a piece of advice more than a review, if the artists dont feel comfortable doing something be straight up, and if you are confident dont act like eh about it. Confidence with tattoos makes people more comfortable and more likely to stick with you as an artist. I definetly would have gone here if they seemed more into doing my tattoo

I really enjoyed the company & atmosphere of the shop - but the artist (Sav) did case DEEP permanent scarring, i went to 2 different docotors the first to treat the initial infection the second to follow up. I had reached out to sav and explained the issue and how i'd traveled 2 days after the tattoo (which ive done a lot with tattoos in the past) and she explained it was common to receive an infection from flying. On the 2nd follow up with the doctor he has said that the needle must have gone in way too deep and even pointed out that the intial scarring and infection was just out of the line work where filling it in would of occurred. This made a lot of sense to me as I have had piece with black out before and compared to those I bled so much that within 2hrs of having second skin on it peeled off like saran wrap. I wish I could love this piece as it is beautiful, but it is so badly scarred and had been so badly infected that i cannot leave a positive review and do hope that the artist practices black out work again before doing it on a client.

Never had a bad experience here, all of the artists are friendly and professional, my partner and I got memorial pieces done and they're beautiful. We ended up there quite late and both of the artists that stayed made sure we got to our car safely! 10/10 would recommend.

Van Bree is a lovely studio- I cannot wait to go back and get more work done. I got my memorial tattoo for my mother there and the artist (Lumen) was there with me late to finish it as my partner had an appointment right before me. Then, she made sure we were going to make it to our car safe and sound! The shop is full of folks who genuinely look after each other and it creates a relaxed professional environment that really lets you be at ease while getting inked. The standards for cleanliness are top notch, too!

My gf was very nervous and shy first time getting a tattoo, but was disarmed instantly by the friendly artists and atmosphere. Before, She insisted i stay for her tattoo for moral support but within minutes she was laughing and having fun and couldnt care less if i was there. She loves her tattoo, already scheduled her second and says I dont need to come next time. Good experience. I might be convinced to get one!

I've gotten all of my tattoos there and I love it! Staff is so friendly and is a well decorated space. Beautiful and always something to look at while being tattooed. I even gave a pillow once to prop up my leg comfortably when she noticed me struggling, it was so welcoming and friendly. At the end they give you a care pack with a sticker, tattoo glue to help heal, a instruction sheet and a couple candies, for free its so amazing and helpful! Definitely a place to go for first time tattoo getters to feel comfortable and well looked after, as all the artists are incredibly talented, you should check van bree on Instagram to see all their works! Amazing place!

My tattoo artist Lumen works here and she's amazing. I walked into Van Bree Tattoo and immediately felt safe and comfortable. I have anxiety and am a germaphobe so getting tattooed can be quite the emotional experience for me. This shop is clean and well put together. The standards in abbotsford I feel are way higher than that of in the city. (Vancouver) I never once felt uneasy the whole experience. The woman working the desk played music I wanted to listen to and they have free water/coffee/snacks which is really awesome. I'd recommend this shop to anyone and the sandwich shop next door has the best food for after your tattoo.

I had a walk in appointment with lumen, hands down I was the most comfortable and at ease I’ve ever been with an artist! Conversation flowed smoothly and overall they are an amazing human! Have not have a tattoo here, but we are a neighbouring tattoo shop to them! Unlike most shops being unsupportive+ having a secondary shop open up in their neck of the woods, they were the first to welcome us with open arms AND a bottle of wine. These guys are so sweet, their shop is clean and the artists and vibe are great !

I’ve been trying to research places to get my first tattoo. I want to stay local and the selective in Abbotsford is limited. I found this shop online and the tattoos look very professional. Decided to check it out. Well they don’t really have big egos and big heads. I think Vancouver would be better suited for this shop (what I wanted to stay away from). I was hoping for a local shop with heart but they come off snobby. I pretty much got turned away rudely. You guys aren’t rockstars. Local people in this town just want a nice tattoo. But some of us aren’t cool enough for you so it seems by these reviews.

I would give a better rating if I could but 5 stars is all I'm allowed. I consulted with Jess with ALOT of ideas of what I wanted. She listened to my ideas and suggested simple would be better. She incorporated my ideas with her artistic sense. The day before my tattoo she sent the concept drawing for approval. I suggested a different placement for part of the work. She was nothing but kind and willing to make it what I wanted. I spent all the next day in the shop. I saw nothing but friendly, professional artists, none were snobby or rude. The shop was kept amazingly clean, they even washed the windows when I was there! Jess was very honest with her time and stopped the clock when a break was needed, she had to change needles, ink etc or tend to shop business during the time others went for lunch. I would definitely go back and have recommended the shop to others. It does have a clean, relaxed atmosphere with VERY talented and knowledgeable artists that know what will translate well into a tattoo and what will not. The end product is incredibly elegant and cathartic. If everything was added that I originally suggested it wouldn't have been such a powerful piece. Thank you Van Bree/ Jess.

Been working on a sleeve with Jess for 3 months now, and I've been really pleased with it. She is honest with her time used (which I have issues with in the past), and super accommodating. Her work is beautiful, and I have had SO many people ask me where I've gotten my tattoo done. It includes a little coverup, and even other tattoo artists who I have seen weren't able to spot it right away, let alone the average person who is admiring it. Can't wait for more progress with my piece!
