My experience at Matchbox couldn't have been better. They were able to book me in for an appointment at short notice, fostered a welcoming environment in their shop, and offered extremely reasonable prices. My artist, Chelsea, was so sweet and friendly. When there was a delay in the start time for me and my friend's appointments, she took us out to eat and we all chatted like the best of friends. And when it was time to get down to tattooing, she was fast, clean, and efficient, all while being gentle and checking to make sure we were okay. I love the tattoo I got out of this experience, and I would definitely return in the future!

Not only were we surprised by the kindness (often walking in feels like you’re a nuisance to the shop), but the atmosphere of the space, the profesionallism of the artists, and the work they did was outstanding. My friend and I booked last minute tattoos yesterday afternoon at Matchbox. The staff were so friendly and accommodating. Each of us described what we wanted and both our artists took the time to explain why or why not certain elements of our original ideas would work and made awesome suggestions about how to modify the idea to make the tattoo last longer and look better. Clara did my tattoo and Scotty did my friend’s. Both of us are so happy with our new tattoos! Their work space is clean and intimate and the vibes are so chill. 10/10 would recommend if you ever want to get a tattoo in Toronto!!

It's a long review, but i promise it's worth the read. Let's be real, finding the "perfect artist", communicating what you want (that's going to be on your body FOREVER), and ultimately going somewhere to sit for hours at a time, getting a tattoo can be an awfully painful or long experience. Do I have experience to give you a qualified review, I think so - I've been to dozens of shops in Toronto, and overseas. So here it is. Artistically speaking, Alveno really is a master of his craft. It takes patience, good communication skills, and a solid knowledge of tattooing to achieve the levels of perfection, when bringing a client's ideas to fruition. Each piece I've seen, captures a true balance of uniqueness and beauty - you've got to see for yourself. Technically speaking, (in all honesty) I'm one of those rare cases where I find tattoos tickle at times. So I may not be the best judge of pain. However, at times I didn't even feel the tattoo gun on my skin at all - that's got to count for something! The time passed so fast, and I appreciated how meticulous he was to achieve the BEST placement of my stencil. The outcome of his work, is stunning, theres not much more praise i can say! I can trust he is going to put 100% in the whole process. I have sensitive skin, that scars very easily, and some pieces (by other artists) that feel raised like braille. I have to say, this was the absolute best experience I've had in a tattoo shop. I know it's going to be my new favorite piece when it's from Alveno. Cleanliness and personal experience. How often do you see a storage container converted into a tattoo shop, that in itself is pretty cool. I'm a little bit of a clean freak, and I'd give this place a 10/10. It's a small clean space, with a positive environment, and no awkward small talk! Its nice to walk into a place with genuine people, and not feel like a dollar sign. Basically, you might be thinking, places like this exist? Can I really rate my experience 100%? It sounds too good to be true? Well.. go check them out for yourself, trust me - you won't be sorry! The staff at matchbox tattoo are one of the most professional and kind I have ever seen! I had the pleasure of getting a super sick piece on my thigh by Chelsea (@chelseanielltattoos) who was nice enough to stay open super late to re-work my design and completed the entire piece after-hours, and after a long hot day. The store itself is super cute and has unreal air conditioning- the artists are so friendly, and the shop is also VERY clean (something I And most tattooed people watch out for), noticeable right away. Was tattooed by Justice on the top of my spine last night. Appointment booking was swift and easy. Staff was welcoming and friendly as well as vigilant about clients keeping masks on (some people where not so great but staff handled it super professionally). Justice was AMAZING! He was very attentive to what I wanted from the design and he incorporated his own style which was perfect. Very nice guy and great tattoo artist!! His like work is straight and the water color is beautifully integrated. I picked a pretty painful placement but he was fairly light handed and frequently checked in on my wellbeing and asked if I needed breaks. Would definitely recommend Matchbox Tattoo and Justice!

I just had such an amazing time here which was like no other I have had from any other tattoo shop. My artist Alveno did the most GORGEOUS water colour tattoo on me that I am absolutely in love with, by far the best tattoo I've ever received. From when I first I messaged him on Instagram, through the design process, and to finish he was nothing but professional not to mention patient with me (poor thing) LOL. also, He was so gentle I've never had such a painless tattoo! He is a very caring artist and overall sweetheart. I've decided that this is going to be the only place I will ever get a tattoo done for the rest of my life. I even got to see more beautiful work being done across from me from any other artist named Chelsea. She was doing a really precise second session of a leg tattoo ive never seen anything like it such stunning work!! Long story short all of these artists clearly take pride in all of their work and in every tattoo they put out. California girl here! Had a trip planned to Canada searched online for some tattoo artists and the second I found this shop and took a look at @alveno_tattoo work I was in love. I set up an appointment for me and my best friend and we were not at all disappointed. The shop is awesome and super clean. Cleanest shop I've been to. Very professional! We had such a great time talking and sharing stories. They talk to you as if you've been friends for years. Definitely the highlight of our trip. Unbelievable service! Walked in last minute to get a small custom piece done. I am really impressed with the skills and service provided by this shop! Not only were the artists really friendly but they actually collaborate with their customers and listen to what they want. I went in to get a tattoo fixed that I had gotten from another shop and Scott (Alveno) was really great with making sure he understood what I wanted fixed and would check in with me to make sure I'm okay and if I want him to fix any other areas. Also, the shop is really clean and organized. I would totally recommend this shop and the artists (they're super talented and nice).

Fantastic shop. From working through my concept for my tattoo to the actual tattoo, I had a great experience. My design had a lot of wrapping linework so we had to constantly adjust my position but Scott was great throughout and incredibly dedicated to making sure the lines were perfect. So the main reason I chose to go to Matchbox was because it was the only tattoo parlour downtown that was open past 10pm on a Tuesday. My girlfriend and I decided to spontaneously get matching tattoos and the stars aligned for us by not only finding this little gem but also because Adrian the Artist was there to greet us with a smile and open arms. Adrian outdid himself by not only staying open later for us with no notice but he completed our tattoos very quickly and they turned out way better than we could have ever hoped for. While visiting Toronto, I stumbled upon this tattoo shop, which is made out of a recovered storage container. I was a walk-in, and my artist was Pearl. She was AMAZING! I glanced at a few of the sketches in her sketchbook and they followed the style I wanted (small and detailed). She was very easy to speak with and very sweet! She perfected my tattoo and it’s probably my favorite tattoo now. All of the other staff there were very friendly and welcoming. Scott, the owner, is very friendly as well! Amazing concept using a shipping container as a tattoo shop, really cozy and comfortable space. Had my first tattoo done here and from the consultation through to the end my experience was the best I could have asked for! Scott was very patient while working together to come up with a design I loved. He was honest and helpful in terms of what it would require size-wise to get the look I wanted and have the design and details last over time. From start to finish it was a great experience, and I will definitely go back to Scott in the future! :)

Walked in for a cover-up, left absolutely loving the piece. My original tattoo didn't really allow for much to work with as it was dark and kind of oversized for what it was, but what the artist - Sophia - came up with was beautiful in its own right. To say I'm in love with it is an understatement, to say I'll be back for more is a no brainer. Super friendly owner and staff, and willing to work with you without being pushy or dishonest. I stumbled across Sofia’s work on instagram and I have to say she really is a professional iv now got three different pieces off her and everytime she designs something for me it is much more than what I expected. She takes time and effort into her work and that’s the type of artist I was looking for. Everyone in the shop are super friendly and they really do make you comfortable. Stefano needs to reconsider career choices. Thought my tattoo looked ok fresh but once it healed I noticed the lines are extremely shaky and the shading has gaps in it. And yes I took care of it properly.
