Poor communication and attention to detail resulted in 25% of my tattoo being just plain wrong. Despite coming in with a clear list of what finished results mattered, a good chunk of my tattoo was misplaced or incorrectly ad-libbed. Not what I expected from a place with what I thought was a good reputation, nor how I expected my 30th birthday present to myself to go down. Topped off with only being asked "oh, is this your first tattoo?" (yes it was) after the work was already done, I can't say I'm impressed. They offered to make adjustments after the fact, but as their mistakes require removal, I've decided that my 31st birthday present will be tattoo removal, followed by finding someone more trust worthy. The two stars are for the cleanliness and atmosphere of the place, both of which were as expected.

Each time I've brought my ideas to them and let them work their magic and was not disappointed. The whole shop is extremely well kept and all of the artists are super friendly and do great work. I had a wonderful experience at Blue Blood yesterday! We drove 5 hours for my friend to get her tattoo done by Greg, and he was amazing. The detail he put into his work brought my friends ideas to life, and each aspect he added looked so realistic. James was extremely welcoming and made sure that while I sat watching my friend get tattooed that I was comfortable. He even agreed to doing a tattoo for me while I waited. The line work and colours are amazing and I could not be happier! Each and every person in the shop was warm and welcoming and after a 5 hour drive and a lot of anticipation, it was nice to feel so comfortable ! The atmosphere was also amazing, the shop is unique and there is so much to look at. The artwork on the walls shows just how talented each artist is at Blue Blood! This experience was definitely worth the drive !

Basically, for as highly touted as this shop is supposed to be, they have lots to learn about customer service. You could trip through the door, spilling your money everywhere and follow all their appointment request guidelines and if they're not in the mood they just ghost you. Finally ended up at a different place and the artists were happy to see me, I happily paid and I'm thrilled with their work. In this context a low rating may not be justified as I never actually got to experience this...establishment. But based off the so called appointment process, I think it's a safe bet.

This is the place to go if you want a true work of art done. James Deane did this rose on my side for my first tattoo and it went perfectly. No bleeding or anything, it healed perfectly. I came in with a simple black and white geometric clipart rose I printed off and James drew an elevated version of the rose with leaves and chose the perfect colours. I felt comfortable the whole time it was definitely worth the price! Will be going back soon!

I emailed the shop with a request for a consultation and I went in with an idea that needed some "tweaking". I chose James because I liked and appreciated his style and I knew that James would be able to take my idea and run with it. When I came back in for my appointment to have the tattoo done, I was thrilled with the art he created for me. He took my idea, added in the elements we discussed and made it mine. It's a rather large piece on my forearm and it took over 5 1/2 hrs to complete but the open concept room kept me entertained and James made the process easy. When it comes to choosing a tattoo artist remember: they're artists. You choose them because you like their art, you want to display it on your body and you believe in them. this is a life long commitment. If the artist doesn't feel they can do the work you want because it's not something they can bring to life then be happy they said so and move on! Rejecting to work for you is not an insult but a favour!

I am someone that could NEVER be bothered to write a review but I still can't get over the Amazing, Outstanding, Well Respected and Honest advice from James, not to mention his much valuable time that he had taken to reply to my emails at 3am, which I definitely wasn't expecting !! Furthermore, I had explained my predicament of just coming out of surgery and after 2years, of immobility, I've lost over 150lbs of muscle and now finally starting to move around a little. I wanted to get 3 HUGE VERY EXPENSIVE tattoos, a FULL BACK and 2FULL Sleeve ones. As most Tattoo shops that I am personally aware of would have jumped at the opportunity to perform these tattoos no questions asked and money first and foremost is their priority. NOT WITH JAMES from BLUE BLOOD CUSTOM, he took the time (at 3:00am) to inquire into my surgeries, my muscle loss, and because of the excess of 150lbs of loss muscle had a lot more health related questions which had nothing at all to do with the obvious elephant in the room of my willing to spend the saved up $10,800 (which surprisingly never came up) for the tattoos that I wanted. James could have easily had my business that I kept insisting that I want to do these tattoos but he kept insisting that I wait until Im back to the size that I will be comfortable with as 150lbs of hopefully adding back that muscle mass would only stretch the tattoo making it looking far from its original style and that i should wait and not rush into these tattoos as of yet. With that advice, it was clear to me that he cared more about the quality of his work and of course their clients best interest at their forefront priority and surprisingly with the money issue had never ever come up which clearly was not even a factor for James. I can now say that I truly and fully understand the saying that "actions speak louder than words" James and Blue Blood Custom Tattoos definity have earned my utmost respect and I can never ever go or decide to go anywhere else for my tattoos. Thank you again James !!

Got my first tattoo from James here, A scorpion on my chest. First, it healed beautifully, and quicker than expected. Second, he did an amazing job! Fantastic line-work and perfect shading. I was skeptical about getting a tattoo because I was worried that I'd have something permanently on my body that would be less than perfection, however I'm happy to say that Jame's work is perfection. They are such different talented artist and really grasp the concept that you are seeking. They are honest when what you want will not make a beautiful tattoo and will advise you on what direction to go. I came here with a friend to see her get her tattoo done and well let me just say, as you can see, more than half of the reviews are rated 5 stars for Blue Blood Custom Tattoos and it’s for a reason. I’ve been to 2 different tattoo shops before Blue Blood, not to trash any other place because my previous tattoos are good although...I do a lot of research before I go to places and I don’t think theirs any better shop in Ottawa than Blue Blood for multiple reasons. The atmosphere is the first thing I noticed. The moment you walk in you’re greeted and it seems genuine which never seemed that way at the other shops. They seem joyful, energetic anything that is positive it is them. Their work is perfect from what I’ve seen but to be honest I witnessed more of Pat’s work in person and not the other artists there. Pat takes his time to perfect your tattoos the way you want and is a super nice person who tries to converse. Their prices are reasonable, whoever designed the shop did a good job, it’s beautiful and nicely organized. I’d say a lot more but I don’t think people are here to read novels lol. Overall you should get what I’m trying to say, look no further, this is the spot.

Don't be fooled by the exterior, or the neighborhood. The inside of this shop is beautiful- decorated with the artists original drawings and new and sterile equipment. The staff are incredibly friendly and welcoming with none of the typical snobbery that can be easily felt at other tattoo shops. I got tattooed 3 years ago. The shop is supposed to honour it's touch up policy. I tried several times to schedule an appointment but it never worked out for several reasons. The first time was because they had moved and never notified me. The next couple times was because my artist kept making up excuses as to why she couldn't take me. The shading was very sloppy and the line work was not solid. The artist also didn't think it need touching up. Last time I checked the customer is always right. The owner of the shop is also very rude and did not make me feel comfortable at all. I would not ever recommend this shop to anyone ever. Literally one of the worst shops I have ever dealt with.

You'll find a variety of artists with different styles, so go in and talk about what you're looking for and they can pair you with the best fit. Everyone draws up their own pieces and collaborates with you so you get a unique piece you'll love! Be open minded regarding sizing, spacing ect. these guys know their stuff so they'll tell you what will work best and will age well. The shop is clean and tidy. The decor is cool because they have framed prints that they've drawn up and sold over the years. They've put a great deal of work into making their space the way they want it at the new location. I love the people. They're a bunch of nerds and are super easy to get along with. Everyone is passionate and they help each other to evolve and do super stand-out pieces.
