Walked in to get two piercings here. I was super nervous because I’ve never gotten any part of my cartilage pierced before but the piercer, Mike, was super friendly and made sure I was comfortable. Both piercings probably took less than 5 minutes to do and theyre healing really well (suprisingly enough, better than any of my 4 lobe piercings). I had an excellent piercing experience despite this being my first time in a piercing shop in years and reading numerous horror stories before coming. I chose this shop because they had some of the best reviews I’d seen for piercing which did a lot to alleviate my concerns. I was pierced by Mike and got two flat helix piercings (one on each ear) with the 2-for-1 special. It was $50 before tax and $56.50 after tax. There’s a small surcharge fee if you’re paying by card. Mike was extremely friendly (he’s good with conversation) and answered all of my questions — there were a lot. He has almost 13 years of experience which was clear from his explanations. He took me through the piercing process and explained why I couldn’t use studs that were too small. Their jewellery is stainless steel and comes in a variety of colours, though I went with the regular silver coloured studs. They only use single use needles and he showed me that they were new and still in the packaging. Mike also showed me the certificates and stickers from the city health checks on the establishment (I learned that they get checked twice a month otherwise they have to go through a rigorous process of being checked five times in a single day or something like that). Before piercing, he cleaned my ears with antiseptic and triple checked the location of the piercings to make sure they were symmetrical and what I wanted. There wasn’t much pain — some slight pressure and a bit of blood with one ear, though that stopped pretty quickly. Mike spent a few minutes cleaning my ears after piercing them and added some lubricant so that they wouldn’t get caught in the skin. He went through all the necessary aftercare and explained how to minimise infections. I’m definitely planning to return if/when I get my tragus and/or daith done.

After the piercings, I did not get any redness or pain and was really happy about it. Fast forward to almost 2 weeks after the piercings, I was cleaning one of the piercings and the ball was loose and dropped on the floor and I could not find it. I reached out to Black Pearl and she advised that I can come in when I would like and they would replace the ball at no extra cost. The process to replace it was so quick, less than 5 mins from walking in. I am looking at getting two tattoos and the service I have received from Black Pearl has definitely influenced me to get my tattoos there. Amazing service !!!

A place to get piercings and tatts done. I had the pleasure of having my very first tattoo done by the talented Cam Roach. Very friendly staff. Place itself is kept clean and every tool they use is clean. Stayed there for 5 hours to get a half sleeve done and was not disappointed. If you are planning to get a tattoo done, be sure to book it asap. I went there to get mine scheduled on April and had got it done on the end of July. The waiting period for different artist varies but be its typically longer than that for most artists. I just got lucky to have had an opening schedule that early. Visa payment is available. They are a bit pricey compared to other tatt shops but its really worth every cent. Washroom is available. A municipal parking lot is available nearby as well. A shoppers drug mart is located nearby so you can buy aftercare supplies for your tattoo. Food stores available too, so after a long period of sitting/lying down, you can grab some grub nearby. It would take a few minutes walk from the subway (shop is located between Broadview and Chester station).

My friend and I were looking to get piercings and went to The Black Pearl because of all of the positive reviews online. They did not disappoint. Mike was lovely and incredibly knowledgeable. He’s been piercing over 14 years, and it shows. I have a complication with my earlobe so he took the extra time to be sure the placement was just right. Pierced my friend’s rook and spent time with her to help pick out the right jewelry. It was very quick, the space was clean and comfortable. I would absolutely recommend going to Mike for piercings and would go back myself.

There were a lot of good tips given afterwards on how to keep her recently-pierced ears clean and healing well. And that they did - it has been several months and all is well. Went here to get my nose re-pierced and expressed to Kat (the piercer) that I had complications before with this piercing and she was so kind and patient with me! She educated me on the types of metals you should use and stay away from as well as other good tips for healing! She’s knowledgeable and kind! I unfortunately had to go back a few days after bc the swelling was pretty extreme (but also expected bc of the scar tissue in that area) and they were all very kind and helpful! Kat removed the jewelry and put in a longer one to help with swelling, FREE OF CHARGE!!! I have to say that out of all the places I’ve gone to get a piercing (and I’ve gone to many) this is hands down the best place to go to and Kat is such a professional that knows the ins and outs of it all!

I got my half sleeve finish up by cam early last year, honestly I feel like he's more interested in the money then actually tattooing. As to the piece the "realism" part was really good but as to the background he decided to free hand without letting me know. So it didn't turn out the way I wanted to and also I notice he'll take short cuts whenever he have the chance (outline work, detailing etc.) but all in all it's a decent piece & if go back honestly I'll go for another artist

Update Dec. 23, 2019 (exactly one week since I got my piercings): Had to go in to another shop to get my piercing changed. My ear was swallowing one of the piercings I got because the post was too short. Please make sure that the jewellery that you use have longer posts to accommodate for the swelling! My ear swelled up so huge because there wasn't room for the piercing to breathe, and then it ended up enclosing around the jewellery overnight.

I decided over quarantine that I wanted to get a couple of new ear piercings and I stumbled across Black Pearl Tattoo. I went with my dad and the overall experience was great. The atmosphere was good, there was music playing softly in the background, they had a good variety of jewelry to choose from. I even bought 2 new pieces of jewelry for a good price. Their 2 for 1 deal was also really good. If you're looking for one of the best (if not the best) Tattoo Shops in Toronto - specializing in black and grey realism tattoos, look no further. The parlour was incredibly clean, the receptionist (Julie Storey) is very helpful & friendly and actually gets back to clients promptly. The artists were all very sociable, open-minded, easy going and made the process as "painless" as possible. I had my tattoo done by Tye Tremblay, a raising star in the Toronto Tattoo scene. He did a shoulder/upper arm piece, beautify designed and tattooed. The entire session was just over 7.5 hours, and Tye had a very good sense for when to take appropriate mini breaks. I've attached an image of the fresh tattoo here. Keep in mind, it is still very red and swollen, and covered in tattoo balm. Five Stars all the way! *If you go here please do a lot of research about the type of piercing you’d like, the after care needed, the gauge you’ll need, and what materials to ask for* First of all, yes the piercer, mike, was very friendly and fun BUT that does not by any means make up for my experience. I got a double helix here and I was given hoops which were WAY too small of a gauge to accommodate the swelling. They were so small they were half embedded in my ear, and to no surprise I got a terrible infection (that lasted 6 months until I went to a different shop where I got is all sorted). As well as this the only after care advice I got was to wash it every now and then in the shower with soap (which obviously was useless advice because I still got an infection) and when visiting the aforementioned other shop I was informed that the material my original hoops were made from was TERRIBLE for heeling piercings. I was only 14 at the time and didn’t have much experience with piercings so if you do decide to go here (which I personally advise against) research everything first!!!

Went here for the first time to re-pierce my lobe and helix. To start, the place is very nice and clean. I love the selection of jewelry they offer at no extra charge. This is the first place I found that has gold coloured jewelry. Moreover, the prices are so incredibly reasonable. Wow! What an amazing double helix piercing experience today Feb 23, 17. It was relatively painless and done very expertly. I heard helix piercings on the same ear (my left) are much more painful than other piercings like the eyebrow but I was surprised it did not hurt as much, perhaps because my piercer Monika did such an excellent job. It hurt just like getting a needle from the doctor, which is not bad at all. I have 2 piercings in both lobes previously and both done by piercing gun. I should never have done it by piercing gun!! If I have a daughter in the future or a son who wants a piercing I would bring them here even for their first lobe piercing. I am so glad I came here to do the piercings at a tattoo and piercing shop. They gave me a bag of complimentary sea salt too and after care instructions, what to do and what not to do. After the piercings heal, if I wanted anymore piercings I will come to this place for sure and recommend all my friends to come here for piercings and tattoos. The price is very affordable especially some piercings type is 2 for 1. Even the piercings that are not 2 for 1 are very good priced. Check out their website for the pricing types. I recently went to get piercings from The Black Pearl. It was my second time yesterday, as I had been very satisfied with my first experience 2 years ago. Mike is amazing (he did my piercings both times). Kat is very nice too (loved her enthusiasm!). The process was smooth, from entering the reception area, being greeted, filling out a form, being invited to take a seat, and expressing the creative vision. Great environment, well sanitized. I noticed that there was conscious effort to wipe down seats, change gloves, wear mask etc. Mike is very understanding of individual needs. I wear hearing aids in both ears, so placement was a bit tricky. Some of my original requests were turned down due to the lack of practical and anatomical feasibility, but we came to some wonderfully unique compromises. He understands and is direct when the client's piercing idea or placement idea is not suitable (ex. higher risk of rejection, short piercing lifespan, impossible healing etc.). I really appreciated that the overall piercing experience felt interactive, friendly, and realistic. Thanks for being such cool people!

I got my conch pierced here today and I had a very positive experience! I was very nervous because it's my first cartilage piercing but Mike was super nice and helpful and kept talking to me throughout the whole piercing, which really helped put me at ease. Everything was clean and I felt comfortable throughout the whole thing. Price-wise, I feel like they have very good deals and it's not that expensive compared to other places in Toronto. The only thing that I would recommend improving on is the selection of titanium jewelry. They have a pretty big selection of surgical steel studs and hoops, but as someone with very sensitive ears, it'd be nice to have other titanium options other than just a plain stud or hoop. Overall, I would highly recommend this shop to anyone looking to get a piercing, and I'll definitely come back for more piercings in the future!

First off - beautiful shop. Cozy and very clean. I got my first larger piece done last weekend with Matt Vanasse, and I have to say it was an incredibly wonderful experience. Both himself and his fiance Monika are absolutely lovely people and made me feel very welcome. There were a few mishaps with scheduling due to some unforeseen circumstances and Matt was very accommodating with his time and even came in on a day off to work on it for me. He is extremely talented and I highly recommend him to anyone who wants to get quality, beautiful traditional work (his coloring and shading is outstanding). I decided over quarantine that I wanted to get a couple of new ear piercings and I stumbled across Black Pearl Tattoo. I went with my dad and the overall experience was great. The atmosphere was good, there was music playing softly in the background, they had a good variety of jewelry to choose from. I even bought 2 new pieces of jewelry for a good price. Their 2 for 1 deal was also really good. I was a bit nervous (as I was getting a conch, daith, and 2 third lobes) but Mike made sure I was comfortable and was talking me through the whole process, as well as making conversation. Overall, I would definitely recommend coming here and will be coming back for more piercings in the future.

DO NOT go here for a piercing. I can't speak to their tattoos since I did not get one there. I did get a snug and helix piercing. The helix piercing healed fine but the snug has been giving me nothing but problems. It was excruciatingly painful which I didn't realize was not normal until I went to a different shop. They let me pick my piercing jewelry and offered some kind of plated or painted jewelry which again I didn't know was bad until I went to another piercer and they told me that it probably gave me chemical burns and that is why it hurt so badly. I had to change the jewelry before the piercing healed because the original had chipping paint. I was also not told any healing or any sort of proper aftercare. I was told to wash it with soap. To which my now piercer said is extremely harmful and got extremely upset that a shop that prides themselves upon piercings gave me such a horrible experience. DO NOT GO HERE. JUST BECAUSE A SHOP HAS OVER 4 STARS DOES NOT MEAN IT IS GOOD.

Set up a consultation with Mike Story at Black Pearl; was told he was too busy - booked till Feb 2016, and was directed to Matt. Left the artist with a sample drawing for a throat piece I was very excited to get. The artwork had very intricate details and I was promised quality work. After a month of waiting, literally a few days before my tattoo appointment I recieved the drawing that Matt had done. I was very disapointed. It looked nothing close to the idea that I had presented. I voiced my disapointment and told them that I would look elsewhere before committing to Black Pearl. I was assured that if I was unhappy my deposit ($60) would be refunded. I visited other shops and it was confirmed that the artwork from Black Pearl was stock artwork. I'm pleased to say that Wildink (Scarborough) is able to fullfill my tattoo desire. I called Black Pearl to request the refund I was promised and gave the secretary my email to send the e-transfer. Matt phoned me 30 minutes later to say that refund isn't possible. Disapointed again!

When my 4 year old decided it was time to get her ears pierced we sought out a reputable establishment instead of going to a little shop in the mall. They were very patient with her, and as brave as she was, she was scared to get the second ear done. We tricked her and she was pretty upset when it happend, but 5 min later she was all smiles and happy she had it done! They even have suckers and toys to distract them with! Clean, friendly and busy. Think it might have inspired me to go back and get a new tattoo!

Waited 6 months for my appointment - Paid an arm and a leg for my piece. When the tattoo healed extremely light and faded I tried booking a touchup multiple times and was told by Mike that I'd get a call and be put in asap for a touchup. I was never given a call or got scheduled for a touchup. This went on for close to a year. Eventually I just gave up and found a different artist. This showed a complete lack of respect for a paying client. For the price and wait I expected better customer service. Disappointed to say the least.
