Drove 40 minutes across town to visit during their business hours to replace an earring post. They were open, but had no one in that could sell jewelry... Would really be nice if they listed their hours as "open" and "by appointment" if there is only a tattoo artist present with no ability to operate the business. The gentleman was also incredibly rude and unkind when he communicated this to us. Was just shy of a scoff and eye roll when I asked to purchase jewelry.

The experience with Thrive only goes upward from there. Lindsay's cheerful and relaxed composure gave me all the confidence I needed to trust her. And she didn't let me down. She invited my daughter to watch and enjoyed our "strange" banter while creating the image I desired. I cannot think of ANYTHING negative about my entire experience. Thrive is fantastic.

Jesse is the best! He is very skilled at the piercings themselves, which is obviously important, but what makes him really stand out is that he makes you feel really at home in his studio. Got my nose pierced here. It was so professional, and I got all the info I needed to make sure I took care if it properly. Unfortunatly, I got my piercing stuck on my towel, and it got a bit messy. Thrive helped me clean it up and recommended a product to help with healing. Thrive Studios is amazing and I would recommend them for anyone looking to get a piercing done!

Received an awesome tattoo from Angela, the staff was kind, the shop was professional and clean, and it was a great place to get my first tattoo. I got to watch the design be made, and add my tweaks and what I wanted. The line work was clean and bold, and looked great. I would totally go there again and get another tattoo.

Jesse is the best of the best. If you want your piercing done PROPERLY and PROFESSIONALLY, Jesse is the one for you. He is very knowledgeable and friendly and makes everyone feel relaxed and comfortable whether you're there for your very first piercing, or your 20th. Piercings are one of those things that you really get what you pay for. And although you may pay a little more at THRIVE, it's because they're using top of the line jewellery and equipment to make sure you get a safe piercing that heals up beautifully. His shop is clean and bright and he's happy to show you how all of his equipment is sterilized and stored. Jesse is also happy to have you come see him after your piercing is done if you have any questions or concerns about it. I highly recommend THRIVE to anyone and everyone considering a piercing; you will not be disappointed with your piercing, the service or the atmosphere. Jesse has done many piercings for me and every single one has been a positive experience. Honestly, I live in Guelph and I make the drive over to Cambridge to have Jesse do my work because he is, in fact, that good.

As someone who is not a fan of needles, I put off getting my ears pierced for many years. After finally deciding to get it done, and doing some research online, I found Thrive's website, and was so impressed with the detailed information and answers to any possible question. I saw Angie for make-up tattooing, as she is the expert for make-up tattooing. She did a perfect job on my eye liner and eyebrows! She is very friendly, patient and very attentive to your pain threshold. This was my very first tattooing experience, and I have been planning for tattoos elsewhere on my body. Can't say enough about this place, it is super clean, friendly and inviting as soon as you walk in. Every person I've dealt at Thrive with has been cheerful and knowledgeable and at the same time a real person. There is no phony client/business snobbery in this shop that you find in tattoo shops nowadays, there is a very cool vibe of being welcomed in if it is your first time or third time. Jesse pierced my nose and labret and made everything comfortable and fun. He is extremely detail oriented and just exudes loving his job, it was a delight. More recently Daniel has pierced my vertical labret and with his complete accuracy and down to earth attitude you feel at ease and in good hands, had a blast. You can tell you are with a professional when there is just as much time spent on things being sterilized and discussions about sterilization and aftercare as there is on the piercing itself. That is what you get at Thrive. PROFESSIONALISM! I had a tattoo consultation with Rob Witczuk. He took my idea very seriously and has helped me to morph it into something that is 100% what I want. You can tell he is at heart an artist and listens to what you are saying but also extremely technical with imagery and how it works with the body. I'm so excited for the tattoo. A day at Thrive is the best way to spoil yourself :)

Edited to add how much I adore this place 2+ years after my first encounter. They are worth every penny. High quality jewelry and so, So, SO CLEAN. Had a helix done August 2017 by Daniel. Went back for a second helix in October 2017 by Daniel again. Was tattooed by Lindsay in July 2018. Tragus and second lobe done by Daniel again in February 2019. We swapped a piece I previously had in a helix for a tragus - no issues, just autoclaved it and no charge for swap fee. However what really made me LOVE Thrive was I have an MRI in March 2019 and I needed glass retainers on less than a week's notice. Called and confirmed gauges and placement. Everything in stock, no problem. Appointment scheduled the night before my MRI to swap. THANK YOU. I travel from over an hour away to see you guys because nothing in the GTA compares to the service, selection, and quality at Thrive.

I only have incredible things to say about Thrive! In fact, it's the only place me and my hubby will go to for tattoos or piercings. They treat you like family, making you feel incredibly welcome from the second you walk in to the second you leave. Today, I made a last minute decision to get my nose pierced and they got me in right away. My mom and dad came with me (who have never stepped foot into a tattoo parlour) and they were made to feel right at home. Jesse walked me through my options to make sure I had the right piercing for the contours of my nose. Everyone who works there always goes the extra mile to ensure your happiness. I got my nostril pierced by Kayla and I’m very happy with it! Kayla was fantastic, knowledgeable and even made me laugh which was great. The studio was impeccably clean. Also, I’m not sure what everyone is complaining about with the prices of jewellery. Their jewellery is well made with quality metals, has a lifetime warranty and you can go back and have it changed or checked by the piercer anytime. Worth it to me!

This place is the real deal. It's the only place I'll ever go to from now on. They are super professional, friendly, and VERY clean. I have plenty of other piercings, and my experience here compared to past places was like night and day. This is the piercing place I've always wanted. Worth every cent! Piercings and tattoos are simply not things you cheap out on, period. Bonus: I involuntarily yelped and grabbed when I got pierced and my piercer Kayla handled it like a pro. (So grateful!) The rest of the staff were also just as friendly, making the whole thing the most comfortable piercing experience I've ever had. If I could rate with over 5 stars, I would.

had an amazing experience at thrive! after months and months of searching for a place to do my first tattoo, i finally decided on thrive and i wasn't disappointed. i went in there to get a tattoo, but jesse also helped me with a problem i had been having with my lip piercing. very professional staff, very friendly, and most importantly extremely clean!

Extremely pleased with my nose piercing. The staff are super friendly and encouraging. I called to make my appointment for my piercing. When I arrived, Daniel did a great job in explaining the different types of jewelry they have and advising what would be suitable for my taste and sensitive skin. He explained the piercing process as I had a lot of questions since this was my first piercing and I was nervous. I found him extremely patient and knowledgeable. After I had picked my jewelry they had me sign a waiver, it was just standard procedure. Daniel took me into the room, its a good size room and very very clean. They have space for one or two people in the room to accompany you for morale support, I had my friend with me...thankfully! Daniel told me to relax and lie down while he cleaned my nose. He does a very thorough job and made me feel as relaxed as possible, he must have changed his gloves 3-4 times so that the piercing does not get infected. He created a marking and showed me where the piercing would go and asked me to verify. When it was finally time for the piercing, Daniel opened a fresh package with the needle and asked me to relax completely, he lined up the needle with the markings he placed on my nose and then he said it was done....just like that...it took 15 seconds! I didn't feel the needle at all and I was really surprised because I have very low pain tolerance. Daniel went through the cleaning and aftercare process with me. All in all it was a great painless experience. It's been exactly a week since my piercing and is healing really well, no infections or irritation. I highly recommend Thrive Studios, especially if you are getting your first piercing and have no prior experience with piercings!

Very professional, we waited for our daughter to be old enough to decide she wanted her ears done and then waited a little more to be sure(15). We looked for the best place and Thrive was it and we are very happy with the out come. Well worth the wait to ensure she could get both done(handle the pain) and the price to have a professional do this rather then going to a silly mall store using a gun they cannot practice proper sterilization on. Thrive shows you how it is cleaned/ sterilized and the proper care of of your new look. Absolutely recommend this place to everyone.

I have absolutely no complaints about this place! The staff there are always so warm and welcoming the minute you step in, and Jesse was amazing with my very first piercing. He not only showed me the sterilization part so I know the needles are clean, but he also talked me through the steps it took to pierce my nose, and he was so calm, gentle, and quick that I was barely in the chair 5 minutes and he was already done! I brought my friend with me to the appointment (she also has her noses pierced but somewhere else) and was astonished by how quick the procedure went. Also the jewellery is beautiful and comfortable. The same friend was jealous that she had 'silver bugger' but I didn't. Would recommend to anyone.

My best friend and I got (somewhat) matching tattoos on Friday, done by Angela, and they are lovely. Even though my friend was somewhat indecisive about what she wanted in the end, Ang was patient with us and made sure my friend didn't do anything she wasn't comfortable with. The tattoos themselves are healing beautifully and we are both amazed at Ang's ability to do perfectly straight lines on our ribs even though we were talking to distract ourselves and flinching every now and then. My husband booked for me to get a tattoo that I've been wanting for years. It was supposed to be a surprise for my birthday and I was really excited! I arrived 10 minutes before the shop opened. I was standing in the stoop (already masked) trying to shelter from the wet snow that was coming down pretty heavily outside. One of the girls inside clearly saw me waiting and trying to shelter but refused to open the door a minute sooner. I thought that was really inconsiderate but I didn't want to let it mar my experience so I shrugged it off. After filling out the forms, I was told that I shouldn't get a tattoo because I'm nursing. On their website it explicitly states that they will not tattoo someone who's pregnant and that it if you're nursing it's "recommended" that you wait. The way it's stated on the website, it makes you think it's your decision, when in reality they will NOT tattoo a nursing mom. The one star is for the shop itself, very clean, sanitary, hygienic and for the tattoo artist who was prepared and waiting. My overall experience was not a positive one and it could have gone very differently if it had just been explicitly stated on their website that they will not tattoo nursing moms. If I knew that, I would not have wasted my time going there in the first place, on my birthday, in a blizzard. I hope they update that information on the website and I wish the staff were a bit friendlier. I will probably go somewhere else in the GTA to get the tattoo done when I'm done nursing. It's a huge investment and I don't feel comfortable spending that much money at a place that does not pass my Vibe check. Sorry.

I don't usually write reviews, but I loved my experience so much, I thought I'd give it a go. My sternum tattoo was originally booked for November. But due to personal reasons, I had to book it for January 7th instead. I gave the studio a call and Katlyn happily changed the appointment for me. Never made me feel guilty or inconvenient. Upon arrival, Katlyn greeted my friends and I with a smile like always and actually ended up remembering me from my consultation. It was quick and smooth. Jesse even made small talk with us for a bit. Upstairs, I was getting ready for my tattoo. I have other tattoos bigger than the one I got that day, but I've heard ONLY horror stories about the sternum so naturally, I was scared. Lindsay, my tattoo artist made me forget about the pain. She made conversation. She was personal, sarcastic, funny, and she seemed to really enjoy her job and the environment she was in. Did I mention she was sarcastic? Not only did Lindsay make this experience memorable, but so did Angela and Danny. They interacted with me while I was getting my tattoo done. There were only little bits of it that I actually felt pain because I was having too much fun. The reason why I went into detail with this review is because I wanted to make the point that the ENTIRE store itself is EXTREMELY well run. I've gotten a couple of piercings from Jesse himself and each experience has been great. The flow is there, the enthusiasm is there, the cleanliness is there, and everyone has respect for each other. I could not have asked for a better way to start off 2016. Thank you so much to the Thrive Studios team, and a personal thanks again to Lindsay. I will definitely be seeing you again soon.

I've gotten my ears pierced more times than I can count. Every time it ended with infection. My industrial piercing even landed me in the hospital with my cartilage removed. I was very hesitant to get my ears pierced again but when I visited Jessie he talked me through everything, explained the threadless jewlery and stood behind his product, I was a little less hesitant. I got my lobes pierced (as a starter) for my birthday and haven't had any issues since. The jewlery isn't cheap but I will never go anywhere else. As was everyone at Thrive :) I went there for my first time today to get one of my earring holes re-pierced as it had closed up - Dan took the time to explain all the different jewellery options and their details (closures, metal, brands, prices) he answered aaaall of my questions and concerns (I brought in a pair of earrings I had bought for this thinking they would be best - he took the time to look them over, explained why they would not be a great idea and not in a trying to push a sale way at all, just the details, post was a little too short for my ear etx in fact since he didn’t have to pierce my ear in the end, he simply “re-opened” the hold so he did not charge me for that service!!! despite all the time he spent with me, nor did they try to sell me after-care products that I didn’t need, I simply purchased the earrings from them). I ended up choosing the Neometal Swarovski studs which were the first ones he suggested for me - he has got a great eye :) The studio is so pretty and you can tell their attention to cleaniless, hygiene and safety is top-notch, they offer complimentary wifi and coffee for their clients while they wait and Dan even had hair elastics at the ready (since I didn’t think to bring one) so I could put my hair up for when he looked at my ears - it’s those little details and attention to care that stand out and are so impressive!! I absolutely recommend Thrive :) Their care of their clients, honesty, professionalism, fun and expertise make them the standard - Beautiful people, Beautiful service, Beautiful studio

Kayla was an absolute professional and so full of knowledge. Super accommodating as I went in with no appointment. I originally went to a different shop to get my 2 piercings because of a pretty sweet “deal”. I went into Thrives Studios today with both piercings infected. Inproper jewelry was the cause. I left Thrive more educated on my two piercings then I did when I first had them done. The jewelry is costly but worth every cent. I just wish I spent it the first time around LOL!!! The place is also spotless! Well done!!

It was not a short process as it took awhile to get my appointment with Lindsay, but well worth the wait...and really if it's a short wait I would be worried...she is booked out so much because of how talented she is. I had previously gotten a cartilage piercing at a piercing place in Toronto and it had gotten horribly infected. Jesse was amazing and even helped take a look at the piercing for me and my friend who also had an infected piercing even though we didn't get it done with him. He told me that mine had to come out because there was no way it would heal and helped me do that, and then helped my friend re-position hers so that it would heal better. I also got two piercings done here and I still love them and haven't had any problems whatsoever! 10/10 would recommend.

The studio is very clean and I would recommend this studio to anyone. I love my tattoo so much. Definitely the only place I will go to for tattoos as well as piercings!

I wanted to thank the whole thrive team for their patience, understanding and cooperation with me. This is truly the best tattoo shop I have ever encountered. I had a tough cover up to do on my sternum and Jesse, Katlyn and Nicola did nothing but support me and work through this lengthy process with me. I have never had such a supportive team surrounding me. Not only that but Nicola did a phenomenal job on the cover up piece; she was so gentle and kind while working on this piece as there was a lot of painful scar tissue to get through. I love thrive studios but for my last tattoo I ended up paying a huge price difference and wasn't even told it was going to be different from what I was quoted! I understand that the tattoo was changed but the fact that it ended up costing way more than I was originally quoted was just sad on their part, if I would have been told about the huge price difference I would have waited to get it at a different time! Just unfortunate that the tattoo artist didn't bother to say anything!

The place was OK. I wanted to get an old partly-done tattoo covered but the artist thought we should just finish it instead since there was a bunch of dark lines that would be hard to cover. So I agreed, since I didn't hate it. And I told him exactly what I wanted, but he ended up drawing more on it and the background kinda sucks. If he hadn't added it I would've loved it, and I didn't really have much of a say in what he was doing. It was a weird experience. Like, I know it must be boring as an artist to have to just colour in an existing piece, but rather than forcing your art on me, maybe just suck it up and accept the money I'm giving you for the service? I think I'll go to another place to get it fixed up. But yeah, the artists are great, just make sure you are VERY clear with what you want, I suppose. Edit** Price was really good, I realize. Bumping this up to a 3.

Went 4 days ago to get my Daith pierced by Jesse and had the best experience I have ever had at a piercing/tattoo shop. From the girl I booked the appointment with over the phone to picking out jewellery with Jesse to the actual piercing - everyone was so sweet and friendly. The actual shop was super clean and Jesse really explained everything he was doing/sterilization through from start to finish. Great selection of jewellery and Jesse is soooo helpful with helping pick out a great choice for your piercing. Would not go anywhere else again now that I have been to Thrive/Jesse.Do not have one negative thing to say about the whole process, and healing so far had been great to.

Have been getting all my piercings done here since I was 14-almost 5 years now-and my tattoo. Recently went to ink sensations in Kitchener for a spontaneous nose piercing and immediately regretted it. Got it repierced at thrive last week and has already healed with ease: the extra price you pay is worth it, if you want it done right. The area and staff have always been extremely cleanly and knowledgable. Daniel fits right in and makes appointments humorous and comfortable. Learned my lesson the hard way, but will definitely continue to book with Thrive in the future.

It's been a little over a week with my industrial pierced, and it's EERIE how well it's healed! Within days all redness and pain were completely gone, I can (gently) move the bar with no issues, and now there's only a bit of normal crusting. Jesse's expertise and advice, and the magic little bottle of aftercare spray, are responsible. The jewellery is more expensive than I expected - Thrive only stocks the highest quality of titanium from respectable manufacturers, which leads to high prices. But it was definitely worth it - again, this piercing is practically purring, it's so happy! Definitely telling everyone to get their bits pierced here, and I will absolutely be back. Thank you to the amazing team!

I took my 8-year old daughter to get her ears pierced at Thrive Studios after being told it was a great place to go. We saw Daniel, and he was absolutely wonderful with her - he played her favourite music and made little jokes here and there to help her feel comfortable. He was extremely clean and explained all the steps to her so she wasn’t left wondering what was happening, and he even ended it off with showing her proper hand washing procedures for when she has to clean her ears. He even threw in a magic trick when we were done, which she still says was amazing. Her ears weren’t even sore afterwards, and you wouldn’t even know she just got them done. Highly recommend him for your child’s ear piercing!

Had a terrible experience with Thrive tattoo. I had booked a consultation like suggested on the website. The day my appointment was I go in and go up stairs to the tattoo shop. I am waiting for about 5 minutes while 3/4 tattoo artists are in the room and acknowledge that I'm even there. When someone finally helps me they let the artist that I was suppose to see that I'm here. So I have a seat and am waiting for 30 minutes there without anyone saying another word to me. Terrible service and seems very unprofessional. I will not be re-booking my appointment there again and will not consider going back there again.

I went in and saw Kayla to get my Daith pierced. She was very honest when I told her I was getting it in hopes that it would help relive my migraines. She explained that if that was the only reason I was getting it I might want to rethink as there is no solid proof that it works. I said I understood that and wanted it anyway. She explained every step of what she was doing and why. She was efficient, honest and professional!! This was by far the least painful piercing I have had to date and I have a lot of piercings. I visited Thrive Studios almost two weeks ago with my sister to get matching tattoos that honoured our late Opa and represented the love of travel he instilled in us. We already had a pretty clear idea of what we wanted going in, but Lindsay did a really great job streamlining our idea and ensuring the sizing and details were perfect. However, for me, that is to be expected of an artist. The art should be exactly what you want and should be beautiful (which our tattoos definitely are - we are so happy with them!!). Where Lindsay went above and beyond was in her flexibility, her friendliness and her understanding. We were on a very short time frame as I live in Europe and was only back for a few weeks for my Opa's funeral. Lindsay came in on her day off to ensure we would be able to get our tattoos before I left. She was compassionate and understanding of our situation and made us feel comfortable and welcome (even though we were a pain in the ass to schedule!). Thank you so much, Lindsay!!

Nothing but good things to say about this place. They definitely blew my last piercing experience out of the water. Jesse pierced my nose, and it was so quick and painless and I wonder why I've never been here before. He made me feel super comfortable and explained everything clearly and was much better than where I went for my last nose piercing. Definitely will return for future piercings.

*EDIT*: This week I had an unexpected surgical procedure, that meant that my piercings had to come out, including my new septum piercing.*OH NO!!* I called Thrive, was asked to come in and see Kayla. When I came in, Kayla was trying hard to have a bite to eat between appointments, when I explained what was going on, she brought me into her room, removed the piercings for me, put plastic/glass spacers in place that would be acceptable to the surgical team and did the whole thing in reverse when i popped back in after the surgery. I didn't have an appointment as this came up out of the blue. Didn't matter, Kayla made the time. I wish I could leave more than 5 stars. We're so lucky to have this amazing place in town. I've been pierced a few times over the years by Jesse. I was surprised to find out that he wasn't doing them any more.....Guess I need to keep up with current events more. ;) I've been curious about and thinking about a septum piercing for a few years now and decided to go ahead and book one in. This time with Kayla. I was a little apprehensive as I'd built a certain amount of comfort with Jesse over the years, but I trusted that he wouldn't leave his clients to just anyone and I was right. Kayla exemplifies all the qualities needed in a expert piercer. She was kind, knowledgeable, patient, funny, compassionate, professional, quick and talented. Regardless of this being either your first piercing or your 20th, rest assured that you couldn't be in any better hands than with Kayla.
