The piercer Jon hugged me without my consent and touched my waist in a suggestive way. The girls behind the counter looked disgusted. I left after my piercing and went home crying. After I got home, the police were called and so was the owner. The owner, Jamie did absolutely nothing and offered a coupon, which I would never use because I will never go back. The owner couldn’t care less about the safety and comfort of their employees. Please don’t support this place, they’ve hired a very creepy employee that made me feel uncomfortable in every way possible.

I have received 3 tattoos and several piercings from steel n ink in guelph and I will absolutely be returning for more! Their artists are always super nice and helpful when I come in asking about different piercings or a new tattoo. The shop is always very clean and professional and are decently priced for the high level of artwork they do. I have had work done by both Monique and Jay and have been incredibly pleased with how the pieces have turned out. I have also received piercings from Kourtney and Jax and was very happy with how they looked and healed very quickly. All in all I have always had great experiences there and look forward for a new tattoo or piercing with them soon!

Don't get me wrong, service was good and Jessie performed great job piercing lobes for my daughter. However, to do the piercing you HAVE to buy their wa-a-ay overpriced jewelry. This was not clear on website when I booked the appointment and they would not let me cancel it. So even after getting their cheaper set the price doubled. Be prepared to pay at least $100 for simple piercing!

I went in to Steel n Ink in Stone Road Mall, Guelph on Aug 14 to purchase a simple 12 guage barbell. The lady at the desk pulled out an assortment of barbells and bagged one she said "...looks like a 12 guage." When I asked how much it costs she told me $35, to which I shockingly replied "35 dollars?" Then she said, "No, wait, they're $20." So, since I was already there, I bought the piece despite the insane markup. I got home and compared it to the 12 guage piece I already have on me and it was too large. Today I returned with the receipt and the jewelry I purchased in hopes of rectifying the situation. The same lady who sold me the incorrect product told me there's nothing they can do since the jewelry left the store. Another employee suggested she measure the barbell, which she did, and confirmed it was, in fact, the wrong guage. I brought up the fact that she was the one who made the mistake and I shouldn't lose out because of it. She then offered to give me the owner's email so I could talk to him about the no returns policy. I suggested she call him to save me time and a third trip to the store. After the conversation on the phone she informs me, once again, no returns and no refunds. I understand the no returns policy due to health and safety reasons or if I had purchased something then changed my mind, however, when I am sold something other than what I asked for and have to drive back across the city due to their mistake then receive minimal efforts in fixing the issue I don't think it is too much to ask for my money back instead of my only option (after much convincing) being an exchage. Dealing with an improperly trained employee and the owner's stubborn business practices was frustrating and, needless to say, I wouldn't recommend this business. It seems they would rather make a quick buck off a customer than have long standing relationships with them. I would, however, like to acknowledge one of the other employees who was very friendly and professional towards me while I waited.

Showed up at appointment time, then was told that they forgot to charge a booking deposit. They said either we can wait longer or come back the next day. Had already waited multiple hours for the scheduled time. Their excuse was that a new employee made a mistake (understandable), yet after realizing their mistake, they continued to book other people on top of the time that was scheduled. Can’t be excused!

I am very unimpressed. My daughter and I went to get piercings done back in June. We went on a Wednesday which is their half-price day but were charged full price by accident. Instead of refunding the difference because of their error, they gave us a gift card. I had to go back after the ball fell off the earring they put in. They sold me a ball for eight dollars, and apologized that the ball had fallen off. The ball then fell off again on the same earring they had just replaced, about two weeks ago and I went in today to get it replaced. I was told by a different staff member that they don’t do that. I explained that they had done this for me a few weeks earlier, and that the ball had come off again due to it not being put on properly. The sales associate was not accommodating or friendly at all, told me the cheapest earring they would sell me was $25, and that there would also be a service fee of $10 to put the earring back in for me. I can’t remember the last time I had such bad customer service, and I absolutely won’t be back. I’m now stuck with this gift card that I can’t even use because nothing in the store is under $20. As a business owner myself I would never treat my customers like this. Additionally, I own a jewellery business so I know how much of a markup their product has in the first place. They’ve absolutely lost a customer, and I will be sharing my experience with friends. I simply can’t imagine making a mistake and overcharging a customer, not refunding them for that error, and then not helping them when they come back. Please don’t go to this store - they obviously don’t care about their customers whatsoever. I give the store a maximum of one year before they close - businesses that treat customers like this do not stay open long!

I discovered this shop through instagram and the variety of artists and styles intrigued me. I booked my annual birthday tattoo with the artist Jay for the first time. She was thorough in terms of understanding what i wanted and treated me with so much kindness during all the session and following up on social media. She even shared my picture i posted! The staff at the desk were so kind and helpful when scheduling and creating some notes for Jay’s reference. Very bad service from the piercer Jon. He didn’t show up for my appointment and didn’t answer his phone when the receptionist tried to contact him. They ended up rescheduling me 4h later. When finally got my piercing he didn’t apologize and completely avoided the subject. Also, unrelated to him, out of 5 studios I’ve been pierced at this is the only one where they don’t give a free cleaning kit after a piercing. I would’ve at least expected that as an apology for making me wait 4h but no. I got nothing. Never going back

Garrett is a super nice artist and did great work. I love my tat :). However, it was a small tattoo and I payed $190 for it. Which is a bit expensive for me, especially for such a small piece. It also wasn't very clean, no surfaces were wiped down or anything, there were no after care instructions, it seemed like masks were optional and they didn't check proof of vax. I wouldn't go back, but if you're interested I wouldn't say "don't do it" just be prepared to pay a lot and keep your tat clean!

My ear was swallowing the ball of the jewelry it was pierced with due to swelling (the piercing was done at a different studio). This place was the only place near me open on a Monday with time available before I had to be at work. They were able to change the jewelry out for a longer bar in no time at all and the piercing is now doing fine. The jewelry is expensive but good quality. I would definately recommend this place for piercings.

Went in on Sunday for a nose piercing ,the man at the desk was great and seemed super knowledgeable. He gave some advice on jewelry and said that the piercer would fully advise as to what size we should do. Considering it's right in the mall, it was spotless and very sterile. Kat, the piercer was wonderful. Great humour but still very professional. I've had several piercings and she walked me through each step as if it were the first, as she should. Feels comfortable, looks really good. I told Kat that I'd really like it to be opposite my Monroe and complimentary. She delivered! Thanks, woman. Overall everyone was very nice and professional. However, I got my septum pierced there a couple months ago and felt it was most likely done incorrectly. It hurt alot and bled more than expected. Today, I finally got my jewelry changed by a professional at another shop and they confirmed my septum was not pierced correctly. It was pierced too low and uneven I was told, very unfortunate considering how much I spent for the service.

Awesome service. Got my second and third ear piercings there and the tech made it comfy and fun! Also got my first tattoo done with Jay. It only took a couple of minutes and she cleaned and bandaged it so well that there was no infection or problems. Dont get me wrong, the people who work here are friendly and all, however I went for a simple ear piercing and was charged $180!!! That is absolutely ridiculous and a total rip-off no matter how professional the place is. The worst thing is the piercings were done incredibly sloppily. My ears aren't even/ symmetrical and my friends septum was too low. If they're going to charge outrageous prices they could at least do a good job. They try and convince you that the $100 is from the outrageously overpriced earrings that you have to pay for separately. And with my $180 bill there wasn't even a cleaning set, a standard for every other piercing place I've been too. There's plenty of piercing shops in Guelph, save your money and go anywhere else.

Got a tattoo done by Rob. He showed up late with no idea of what I wanted to get done even though I had sent reference photos. All I wanted was some simple script so that wasn’t a big deal at the time. He seemed annoyed with me from the beginning for no apparent reason other than that I’m young. He rushed the tattoo and his line work is awful. Not a single clean line in the whole tattoo. I had to point out to him a few spots to touch up when he thought he was done. Acted rude and annoyed the entire time as if I was a waste of his time. If you’re going to get a tattoo here make sure you don’t book anything with Rob.

I went in for a walk in wanting a tattoo that has a lot of meaning to me and Jay the tattoo artist not only did a beautiful tattoo, she gave me exactly what I wanted and when I looked in the mirror after she was finished it was exactly what I pictured it looking like. Very disappointed with one of the tattoo artists, not with my tattoo, but with what transpired after. I had gone in once and had been tattooed by robin who was absolutely lovely and talked and chatted with me the whole time I was being inked. He did an amazing job and I was so excited to have him work on many other pieces. I asked him in person if I could email him about a potential cover up I would love him to do and he seemed excited and gave me the green light. I emailed him back in December of 2020 when he confirmed with me verbally he received my email and will respond by the end of that lockdown. No worries! Well that lockdown came and went. I did follow up and got no response. I am very disappointed for waiting around seven months without even a reply. He was an amazing artist and I would love to get more ink done by him- but I’m not going to be waiting around for this. I’ve already spoken to another artist who had replied back to my email within a day. Much better than silence for seven months.

The artists are all incredibly talented with gorgeous designs, and flawless execution. Everybody is so friendly, and really make you feel comfortable during the process. Not only do they rock their tattoos, they rock their piercings too! Again, very clean and thorough. Excellent aftercare advice for both piercings and tattoos, and they even go as far to invite you back if you have any problems at all. I love it. Overall such a gem of a shop, and we’re so lucky to have them in the city in such a convenient spot.

Paid $155 for a walk in tattoo that was rushed and took 15 minutes, crooked lines and an unfinished scrape of a line, maybe 5 cm of ink and was told to wear an “invisible bandage” for two weeks without taking it off. Filled with plasma, blood and liquid and the skin underneath couldn’t breathe so looked like I had kept it under water for weeks. Would not recommend a walk in due to getting ripped off and the artist rushing to get it done

To hear how much Jax cared about her career was very touching and I loved how she was so inviting to my sons questions and even when he was feeling a bit off, she was right there. My son is autistic and has a hard time trusting people but when we left he said. Jax is my girl. She will be doing all of my piercings. I can't say anything negative at all about our experience here. I went in to get my first tattoo about 2 weeks ago. I made an appointment with Rob Beattie, sent reference photos another 2 weeks prior to the appointment and got a call from the shop a few days before my appointment to confirm I sent the reference. Minor Problem: When I arrived, Rob told me he didn't get the references and to send it to his private email although it does not work on the website. Also the person that called me told me to send it to the general Guelph email so I'm not sure why he didn't have it. MAIN ISSUE: In the middle of getting my tattoo, Rob asked if I was vaccinated to which I said yes. He then told me that he was NOT vaccinated and went on a 10-minute rant discussing conspiracy theories on why COVID-19 was a hoax. I did not know what to say because we were in a private room alone away from the store and he was literally in the middle of tattooing me while telling me this, if he said this information before, I would not have let him tattoo me. This was also an issue because I went with my friend and her tattoo artist explained to her how "all of our tattoo artists are vaccinated and take safety precaution", so Rob was lying to his co-workers. I waited a while to write this because I wanted to make sure my tattoo was healing properly incase I had to add that into this review as well. In conclusion, Rob was unprofessional, put me (as a customer) in danger of contracting COVID-19, and lied to his co-workers apparently about being vaccinated when he told me he is not.

i have had multiple bad experiences at this location. the first being i got a frowny piercing 2 years ago and it almost ripped through several times. i went back a week later to get the jewelry taken out and there was a different piecer there who told me that the previous piecer had used the wrong jewelry. he was also contradicting everything the first piercer had told me. i was very disappointed with the inconsistency. i decided to go back to this place a few day ago for a septum piercing and the piecer Jon had pierced through my cartilage and on top of that it was extremely crooked and poorly placed. i sent an email to them the next day providing pictures of the piercing and they tried to tell me it was because of swelling... I showed the pictures to three other piercers and all of them said it was pierced wrong. just admit if you done something wrong instead of gaslighting your clients. i spent over 90$ for this piercing and will be asking for a refund.

She really pays attention to what kind of piercing you're getting, the size of the jelwerry and where it's going to be placed on your own anatomy. Finally, I came across Spencer from Steel n Ink from Guelph, who designed a piece that accurately represented everything I wanted. Do not go here for real. Came in to switch my nose ring for a stud. Bought a $30ish piece. Breaks in two weeks, it was completely stripped, wouldn't tighten at all, completely faulty. I go to put my ring back in to see that the lady who took it out completely broke it as well, warped the steel, completely useless. So I'm out two pieces and the hole in my nose closes. I go back in for her to tell me she'll give me a piece but charge me to repierce. Honestly they owe me a piercing and two pieces of jewellery, unreal service, really upset. Edit based on response: 1) I was never asked to bring the piece back in, nor did they ask me where it was when I was in the store. I have two witnesses so big LOL 2) the piercing came out during a theatre performance at night (when you were closed, everything in fact was closed) and the hole closed by morning. Honestly would've been cool they had just repierced and gave me a piece to replace the last one, totally forgiven the broken ring, but obviously they don't know how to treat customers.
