Shop gets five stars but Alix gets one star. Never have I been so uncomfortable while receiving a service than I was while being tattooed by Alix. She was discussing very inappropriate things while tattooing me, stitching every sentence together with profanity. I understand that a lot of her client base enjoys her gore and sex related art, but I was not there for that specific type of tattoo and those subjects are a trigger for me. Alix needs to act more professional and treat each client on an individual basis. The panic attack I suffered wasn't even worth it because the tattoo looks horrible. None of the lines are straight and they're all blown out. From reading other reviews it is clear that Alix is really amping up the cover up business. Moral of the story: don't get tattooed by people who talk about railing coke while putting permanent art on your body.

The shop itself is sweet & everybody was friendly including Alix. I wish there was a place to review artists based solely on their work because I don’t want to give the shop a bad review based on one person but theres nowhere else to put this. It’s also clear that Alix got some buddies to write good reviews after a bad one was posted. I’m not doubting that the free tattoos she gave her friends are decent... I’m sure she has made nice tattoos before too... but that doesn’t change the fact that my tattoo sucks. Her grammar and spelling in her emails should have been a good indicator that I shouldn’t go to her but I did anyways so maybe I deserved what I got. Got tattooed by Alix and now I see why she constantly has “time to tattoo tomorrow!” posts on instagram. At first I liked her alot based on what I saw online but after getting a tattoo by her I feel like I got catfished. Most people are attracted to her work because of what she draws, not because she tattoos it well. To distract from the fact that she sucks, she relies on shock. The lines on my tattoo are terrible and I now see that talent can’t be replaced with gore or smut. If you like her work you see on Instagram then get a print from her rather then getting a tattoo because all the lines are shakey & blown out. Luckily it's winter because I have to wear long sleeves until i can afford to get it covered up. If you want to get a tattoo by somebody that blows out an entire tattoo then hit Alix Au up... she can probably get you in tomorrow, after all...

During my time in quarantine I have been looking to get my first tattoo to commemorate my time serving in the army. My friends have told me that instagram is the best way to find an artist as their profiles serve as a portfolio. I came across the profile of Alix Au on instagram and was shocked to see that she has done art projects that uses graphic images of dead police officers who died in the line of duty. Alix Au should separate her work life and personal life because I know many people do not want to give their hard earned money to somebody who celebrates cops being killed on what is essentially their business portfolio. This one star review is a rating of the professionalism of the artists that this business deems fit for employment.

I had Two tattoos done by Alix. She did an amazing job. Exactly what I asked for, My art mirrored on my calves. She made sure to measure the placement for each to get them right. I am super happy this the result, and how dark they look. I recently was asked if the tattoo was fresh by someone at the gym, I said they were four years old.

My appointment was at 330. Artist was not ready and set up took 45 mins but actual tattoo took 20 mins. I get that no shows happen, but thats what confirmations are for. Was charged for a full hour. Over paid for size and time. Don't get me wrong, I love it. But charging based on an hour when its not the full hour is gouging. Sadly I won't be back, and will recommend other studios with flexible options as well as prepared artists.

I have no idea why ppl are bashing alex shes a great tattoo artist. So great infact i have spent almost 3000.00 on getting my whole left arm tattooed by her. She does amazing art and i get nothing but compliments from eveyone who sees it. I never knew her before getting the tattoo and i made sure to research the type of artist who could do the best job for what i wanted tattooed on me. I would recommend her to anyone and will gladly keep seeing her to continue her work on various other parts of my body. Cheers alex keep up the good work. ????

I visited Old Crow to get my first tattoo back in 2018. I had Alix do the work for me, since her style matched up with how I wanted the work to look. From the first consultation to the last line of ink, my experience at Old Crow was fantastic. Alix was very professional and considerate of my time for the whole process, and was super transparent about everything. I had a great time chatting with her while she worked, and she was consistently focused and attentive. Their prices were also extremely fair. I felt like I got amazing value out of the time that went in to the work I got. The shop itself is very welcoming and cozy, and the equipment is very clean and sterile. Can't recommend this studio enough and look forward to heading back when I can!

i wish I never went here and got tattooed by Alix. I also wish I read these reviews before making and attending my appointment I had with her. Seems pretty clear that she got some of her friends to write "good" reviews... I'm so upset with my experience and the tattoo itself is poorly done and blown out. All she seems to care about is doing her work and nothing else outside of that... :( Just awful. Immature and very unprofessional. Please for the love of god, read reviews first!!!!!

I would not be writing this review if Alix Au did not block me after I politely brought up my concerns in an instagram message after being tattooed by her. I booked in with Alix Au and I was told I had to reschedule twice. The first time my booking was never written down so she had double booked and the second time Alix was not there when I arrived for my appointment even though I had called in that morning to confirm the time, also took time off of work for appointment. When I finally got the tattoo done, Alix seemed in a hurry even though I had been waiting 1.5 hours after my scheduled appointment. The tattoo is very simple and is suppose to take like 5 minutes, it took 2 minutes and then she went out of the door immediately after. Sorry but this is not acceptable. The quality is trash and the lines are crooked.

Alix is unprofessional and unorganized I was 15 minutes early for my appointment like I am to every tattoo appointment I've ever been to and she was annoyed by this and wasn't set up until after half an hour after the start time for the appointment the stencil went on 45 minutes after the appointment was supposed to start and I had to pay extra. Her hand is way too heavy and an entire line is blown out and other lines were done too lightly and have completely faded I wish I could give -5 stars

I have been tatttoed by Alix Au before once in the past but my last appointment was horrible. She was late and didn't have anything drawn up for me and it was clear you could tell she had been up all night partying. She ended up drawing something quick for me, unorganized and charged me for the added time while I waited. UNFAIR. She made little conversation and was totally out of it. She kept sniffling and reaked of alcohol. It made me feel really uncomfortable and was completley unprofessional. I know you should look up artist's social media to review their work, and it seems pretty obvious when Alix is partying and when she is not. It clearly shows through her work. A good artist should not have to do that. Their work should speak for itself. She would tell me how much she hated losers that party all time and now it seems like she's one of them. I went home with a tattoo that was rushed, poor line work and felt like she didn't care about doing. Won't be going back to her ever. It seems like she's getting worse not better! Shop was really neat though!!! Maybe I'll go to someone else there.

I got a tattoo done by Alix, it was an extremely awful and unprofessional experience. I trusted her with my first tattoo and now I am embarrassed to show it to anyone. I had a consultation with her and she agreed to do everything I wanted, my actual tattoo appointment wasn’t for another month and a half after my consultation and during the consultation she told me to email her the night before the tattoo and she would sketch something. As this was my first tattoo, I didn’t know what to expect but I did think it was a little strange to email her the night before my tattoo so I emailed her four days before the tattoo appointment. I explained everything in detail and sent pictures of what I wanted. I heard nothing back. When I showed up for my tattoo she had nothing drawn because she “didn’t know extactly what I wanted” even though I gave her plenty of time to email me back. We attempted to discuss what I wanted AGAIN and she went off and took reference photos from google. We finally agreed and she did a 7 minute tattoo on the inside of my arm. Once I was leaving, I had to pay for an extra 2 hours because she had nothing drawn when I showed up. Not to mention the lines are awful and it isn’t even obvious what the tattoo is of and now I am struggling to find someone to cover the tattoo up. This review isn’t a reflection of this tattoo shop but of who Alix is as an artist.

Alix has done more then one of my tattoos amd always has eveything ready to go with better drawings then i could expect. Speedy tattooer with great lines and great shading/blackwork. Never over chargers. Infact always way more then fair on her prices. Im not from calgary and i travel to calgary to get tattooed by her. 4 times in counting. Highly reccomend her to anyone. Very perfesstional and willing to work with you. Alix Ow is FTW Shop is very clean as well and a very positive envirment
