We could not have been happier with the experience. George was extremely caring, funny, warm, and made the experience for our daughter as comfortable and fun as could be. I'd fly to Calgary from Portland to get work done with George if it was feasible.

George pierced 5 of my friends and I within 1 hour and was friendly, knowledgeable, and able to multitask between addressing my concerns and simply holding a friendly conversation. She was amazing, as well as her super friendly staff. All are welcoming and awesome. They are usually very busy, but able to accommodate to the needs of the clients. George used sterile and clean technique with all of our piercings, changing gloves and tools in between. Would definitely go back to get more piercings in the future.

I received my first tattoo last week, two in fact. I checked out many artists and many studios and I was so impressed with the front end staff when I walked in for a consult. By far Strange World gave me the best first impression. Carla did my tattoo and it was exactly what I wanted and exactly how I wanted it to look. Everyone was professional and friendly, I felt so comfortable. I appreciated Carla's expertise and suggestions while she carefully listened to me. Carla captured my daughters signature so well.Carla re-created my daughters art work to the letter and the small details were captured that makes it just perfect. ** January 2017 UPDATE ** I spoke with the owner who has helped resolve the situation. Initial review: I came to Strange World Tattoo on a recommendation from a friend; I didn't bother shopping around because of the glowing reviews. George at the front is AWESOME and easy to talk to. She paired me up with Chris Ivens who was just re-hired as he was returning from out of province (as I was told he worked there previously). During my very short consult, he convinced me to change the placement of my tattoo from where I really wanted it. I called George about a week and a half before my appointment and asked if there was any way I could preview as I was worried about how it would look. He drew out the tattoo and I loved it though it was missing a critical piece and said he would have it added on the day of my appointment, which was O.K. I showed up for my appointment and he showed me the missing piece drawn in. With the addition, it looked nothing like I had wanted. I had been paired with him because he had talent in realism but the addition was not realistic at all. He told me we could just skip on the added piece but doing that would defeat the meaning behind the tattoo that I was getting for my sister. He told me, 'No offense but my job isn't to worry about the meaning, just that it looks good'. Because we hadn't scheduled enough time to re-draw it and the paperwork I signed says cancelled appointments lose their deposit, I made peace with the addition that I didn't like and we started on the tattoo. The tattoo took a total of about 3 hours. We had scheduled 4 but he ate lunch upon arriving and there was 3 smoke breaks taken (though I'm not a smoker). I was billed for 3.5 hours. The tattoo had some weird spots but I figured after it healed I would have a better idea. There are a several spots where there is shading outside of the tattoo lines. I don't think that can be fixed but it isn't noticeably obvious to anyone but me unless they're really looking for it. There is also a weird area where the color doesn't seem to match the rest of the tattoo (literally looks like a brownish blob and is both inside and outside where any other should be) which I thought we could fix but when I went back to ask about touch ups, he said it looked fine. I'm going to have to try to find another shop to fix and touch up the spots that I'm unhappy with.

I came here a few months ago and George did my ears wonderfully. i ended up getting an allergic reaction from an ear cleaner I had purchased. I came back to get my earrings removed since I did not want to irratate them any more. George, the artist who did my ears, was very kind and worried about me. I got my allergy test done and came back to get them done again. George, who did them before, was kind enough to give me the second try for free. She understood it wasn't my fault and was very understanding. Strange World Tattoo has phenomel services and I couldn't be happier with the place I choose.

I took my daughters to George to have their ears pierced. It was a great experience! I had called around to other professional piercers in the past and they generally charged a fee per ear + jewelry ($300 per kid on average) George charged $80 per child, which included jewelry. (Only slightly more than you'd pay for a gun piercing) She was great with the kids and kept them calm and entertained while getting their piercings. They love them! I got my nose pierced at the same time and it looks great! We're very happy with our experience and definitely recommend this shop and George.

I would not recommend this place to anyone getting a piercing done. I was told the wait time would be 10 minutes...an hour later I am still waiting and the lady doing the piercings starts working the front desk the last person who walked in the door set up for their tattoo. Clearly they prioritize their services as to who has the most lucrative job to be done, rather than who shows up first.... If all you need is a piercing that will take minutes I suggest to go elsewhere.

My experience at Strangeworld was fantastic! The facility was very clean, George was very professional, and she made both myself and my friend feel right at home. The piercing was done very quickly and she had no problems getting it through, you can tell she knows what she is doing. It came out perfectly straight and I couldn't be happier with it! Even though my friend didn't end up going through with her piercing, George was very considerate, patient and understanding. Love this shop. I’ve had several pieces done here over the years and I’ve always been thrilled with the outcome. A few months back some friends and I wanted to do a fairly last second group tattoo for my 40th birthday. We contacted the shop and made a very specific request with a narrow timeline (not expecting them to be able to accommodate). They somehow found a way to honour the request and got us in at the requested time. They didn’t need to do that… they could have easily said no. Super appreciative. I was hesitant to get a double conch piercing (apparently the most painful ear piercing) and so I went on a whim to this place. Ask for George. She is AMAZING. I’m a microbiologist and so sanitation was ESSENTIAL to me. She spent 30 minutes talking to me, showing me her equipment, telling me her practices - I was amazed. Amazingly sterile and professional and supportive. The piercing itself was quick and she is so skilled it hurt as little as possible. She also is far more reasonably priced than some other places. She also gave me her personal number so I can text her if I’m having any problems! I would go to her again and would take ANYONE even my 60 year old mother to her. 11/10

We stopped in to see George the piecer today for a second opinion on a nose piercing my teen got about 5 weeks ago after several people suggested her. The original place seemed conflicting ( the piercers gave conflicting advice and care instructions) and I didn't feel very listened to there. George..... she was absolutely amazing. She took the time in an exceptionally professional and kind way to discuss what to do now, what to watch for, what would be the next steps. She also gave us her personal number and insisted that we touch base in 3 days regardless so she can keep on top of this. That was great of them. George pierced my ears and I was slightly nervous going in as this was my first piercing. The second she started talking my nerves settled and I felt I was in good hands. She has always been professional, kind and explained everything to me. She even re did my eyebrow when it rejected the first time (I don't even think she charged me! but it has been 10 years so I could be remembering wrong) She has replaced or change jewelry for me over the years no questions asked this weekend when I went to get my first piercing in over 10 years- my daith- George remembered me- talk about a good memory considering how many people she sees over the course of a day. She explained everything, I watched her preform proper hand hygiene and bring out properly sterilized items (For note I work as a nurse and the packaging and autoclave they use is the same as the one we use in our doctors office) she talked me through everything and the piercing was nearly painless. I did start feeling a bit faint after (was not expecting considering I have multiple piercings and tattoos and give needles for a living) George was so patient and understanding, she provided me with a lollipop and water and titled my chair back for me. She checked on me often and never rushed me even though I know she had other clients waiting. Go to George for your piercings!!!!!!!!!!

Poor quality, cheap jewelry and mediocre piercers. Of all of my piercing experiences, the two I received from George at Strange World were the most painful and the only two to reject. She chose the wrong size for my daith and left me to go and grab another from the back with the needle still in my ear, then shoved it through roughly when she returned. I was able to get it repierced after it rejected and have had no issues with the new one in the same location. My navel also rejected and I have scars to this day, 6 years later. Do not go here.

Have been going to Strange World for over 10 years and have had a number of pieces done. Very happy with all the pieces until my last visit late 2020. The end result was not close to the photo I provided and not close to the sketch I was provided. I was also given the impression the fault was mine when I voiced my concerns. I went back once to have it corrected, but the end result wasn't any better and I am still not satisfied. I'm working with another studio and artist to try and salvage what we can by incorporating it in to another piece to hopefully have it be something I can live with. Unfortunately, this comes with a cost and a tattoo that has to grow exponentially in size. I strongly suggest vetting your artist more so then I did.

My son got the most amazing tattoo for his diabetes. He wanted something unique yet would stand out in case of emergencies. They took him for his apointment and overall it was about 4 hours to complete it. Wow! What a work of art!! I felt a little off put when staff would treat us like kids and say we couldn't get close to see the procedure however, from the artists point of view they need to concentrate, need space to move and probably don't want to be asked questions while they are working. I don't consider myself someone who is very tattoo savvy. I have three, all in different places and easily covered. I'm a small, blonde, female and to be honest entering a tattoo parlor makes me nervous because of the way I'm often looked down on. I'm not really part of the subculture. My first two tattoos were not great experiences (both from different downtown parlors). The artists were rude and one actually told me not to "whine" before we had even sat down or I had open my mouth to ask how his day was. My third, the one I received from Strange World in the NW, was a great experience. From the moment I walked in they treated me like I belonged there and like what I wanted mattered beyond all else. I chose Mike as my artist and he was absolutely amazing. My tattoo wasn't exciting or challenging to do but it was what I wanted on my body and he respected that and even seemed excited to do it. She sat and went through all the things I needed to know and her work was quick and pretty painless. The piercings look so good and don't feel sore like I did with piercings I've gotten elsewhere. I would not recommend this place to anyone. I went in for a nose piercing and pretty much sat for over an hour while a million other people were dealt with at the same time as me. I did not feel comfortable with the piercer, nor did I feel I was given time to be properly informed on it or take my time in deciding where I really wanted it. He has since done almost all the of my tattoos, to the shop/Brett has done all but one, and there is more currently under way from Brett. Brett's art, design, execution and talent are so outstanding, so deliberate, and so outstanding that you can tell he is in full control of the project from the moment you start, and his gentle good humour engenders an instant trust (even for a control freak like me) that you know you are going to get the best possible product available. My tattoo was a masterpiece. Brett tattooed a military sleeve that has received more compliments than would be possible to mention. I have been coming to Strange World for years, and I am never disappointed. First off, George is amazing. I tried to change my Tragus piercing to a stud instead of a ring but it kept falling out. I went back to see her every week for about a month to get it replaced. She was so understanding that she gave me a great deal since I had been there so many times over that time span! My most recent experience was probably my favorite. I walked in there this morning to book a small memorial piece, and they basically made it work so I could get it done right then and there. Externally threaded jewellery, that we had to pay to have taken out at a different shop. Dan, a piercer locally told us the jewellery being used is extremely low quality, and the length used was too short. Why give your clients external thread cheap quality? Not impressed. We had to purchase Anatometal and finally healed. If you’re looking for info about where to get pierced safely, ask if they use external threading jewelry and if they do, leave. This place does, and they don’t inform you of the difference. Do your own research, because my poor wife and I sure didn’t know any better. We sure got an education though, and an expensive one at that. Wish We would have done it first the right time. Just because you’ve been around for twenty years doesn’t mean you have the excuse to do it wrong for twenty years. Yikes.

Please avoid getting a piercing there. I was pierced with cheap jewelry to the point that i had to take out my piercing. The piercer gives terrible advice on how to take care of piercings. If you do decide to get a piercing there get nothing major done. Maybe a lobe piercing, but that's it. The experience and the people there were nice and all but professionally i would not reccomend. Please don't get pierced there.

My most recent half-sleeve was done by Carla and it is amazing. It's vibrant, cute, detailed, just how I wanted it. She also quoted me 12-13 hours for it, and it ended up taking 8.5. Quick but with no sacrifice to quality! I also had George re-pierce my industrial. I brought in my own barbell and she cleaned it, gave me a new ball, and was super friendly through the whole process. Overall a great shop. It's very clean and bright. My husband and I took my 8 year old daughter in today to get her ears pierced. The staff was super friendly and patient with her. George was amazing. She was personable, kind, and she helped my daughter feel really at ease. She explained everything she was doing, and according to my daughter: “had really good strategies on how to make her feel calm”. I would 100% recommend her for piercings, and we’ll definitely be back for our other girls.

We visited Georges for both our girls' ear piercing experience at the age of 3, I believe. we loved our experience and recommended it back in the day. Fast forward a few years, and our girls started wearing cheap jewelry, forgot to keep their good hoops in at night... What kids like to do. So their piercings shrunk to the point of no return for a home intervention. We went back to see Georges, and she so kindly helped us by tapering earrings back into the shrunken piercings. She was as nice and patient as we remembered. What a saviour! The girls left so happy, and so did we. The shop is still as clean, friendly, and amazing as I remembered. Our family thanks you!

My husband and I went to get tattoos as a memory to our baby daughter that passed away. I was in tears at the desk just trying to explain what we wanted and why. I was treated which such kindness and sympathy. Unfortunately, we had to rebook our appointment several times due to coronavirus. As soon as they knew they could open we were called and booked. The artist (Kristin) did an amazing job with the sketches and as a first timer it really made me feel comfortable. The day of I was immediately put at ease and Kristin did everything to make sure we were happy. She really understood the importance of this. She was calm, kind and quick as I teared up several times talking about our daughter. The lady working at the front (I believe George) was also so kind and excited to see we had finally managed to get them. The whole experience was so great and healing. If I was to ever get a tattoo again I would only go here.

My sister and I had a great experience getting piercings and earrings from George! She is super friendly did a great job on the piercings. Plus they have beautiful but affordable titanium jewellery. We've both been happy with piercings from Tribal expressions, but their front service was unpleasant and the jewellery is unreasonably expensive. Getting 2 lobes done at tribal cost over $140 just for 2 titanium studs (and they were one of the cheaper options). At Strange World, It was only $70 for 2 lobe piercings including earrings! The friendly service, careful and sterile procedures and affordability make this a no-brainer. Will be back again!

Just had my first tattoo done here by Malinda today. All the staff were very friendly and welcoming. Malinda took my design and made it perfect for the location on my body that I wanted it. It’s the perfect size and placement. As for my first tattoo, she did a little test line to show me how it was going to feel. She was very accommodating and made sure I was doing ok the whole way through. The tattoo turned out great and once it is healed up, I will post a photo. Really happy with my piercings. Had a double helix piercing and a double lobe piercing a few months ago, done as painlessly as possible, and the piercings healed clean. I came back since I tore an earlobe piercing out in an accident, and George was so nice, she sterilized the piece and re-pierced the lobe free of charge. Will definately be coming back and would recommend this place without a doubt.
