Not the Friendliest Folks here & way over priced. Yes clean but there are way better shops out there that have Above and Beyond customer service and do a Stellar job & Fairly priced. Such a shame it came to this
Seriously overcharged me on my first tattoo (little did i know..) and kinda rude. But the tattoo is good
Great customer service, clean environment and the best quality I've ever seen. Gotten three pieces done here and won't go anywhere else
Got my sleeve done by Michelle when she was still here and it was an awesome experience! Clean place in a great location.
This was my first tattoo experience so I do not have anything to compare it to, but @lemon_cow was very professional and explained everything step by step. Did not look like he couldn't wait to finish his day (unlike other artists). Made more than small talk (actual conversation) and makes me want to come back for another nature tattoo. His work is crisp and simple (in my case), which is exactly what I was looking for. Overall I recommend this artist who sometimes comes to Montreal too for work.
Great little shop in an awesome neighbourhood. Trevor is talented, very friendly and down to earth. Highly recommend seeing him.
Fraser and Pablo are so fantastic. Haven't been able to go to a different artist in years. Cannot recommend enough!!
I had been planning on getting a tattoo for my mom for about three years now but never found an artist I could commit to. When I saw Leme’s work I instantly knew it’s what I was looking for. I was so nervous, but it turned out better than anything I could have ever hoped for. Highly recommend, people!
I just had a piece done by Michelle and for the first session she is fast and very caring of her clients! The place it’s self is a older building so if you get cold easy I HIGHLY suggest bringing a blanket in the winter! I’m very excited to have my piece finished, I requested a coverup so it’s go big or go home with those and she has done a beautiful job at designing this for me!
Great artist, great environment and simply the best place in Calgary to get inked! Thanks Pablo!
Amazing staff, super talented and friendly
I was super nervous when I went but Fraser was fantastic and everyone else was ridiculously kind as well -- I had a fantastic experience. Bright little space and clean!
I have 6 tattoos from Fraser Wright at Mission Tattoo Parlour. Mission is my fav place in the city to get tattooed. Fraser is fast, clean, hilarious, and always takes my ideas about 1000 times further and better than I came in with. Pablo is super friendly, and does incredible work as well. I recommend this place to everyone that asks.
Came to Fraser for my first tattoo and couldn't be happier with my experience! Super professional and was happier to answer my thousands of questions. The tattoo was extremely quick and the result is something beyond proud to wear. Going to see Fraser later this month for more work and I'm beyond excited. The shop was extremely clean and very welcoming. Go to Mission you will not be disappointed!
Anyone but Fraser and Pablo are great to get tattooed by. They can have messy line work. Fraser messed up my best friends and my tattoo, it was her first one. Mine turned out better and it was on my Elbow area, hers on her shoulder. He failed to get it exactly on my elbow too, so I settled for above it slightly. I'm disappointed in it and in myself for choosing a bad artist. There's nothing I can do to fix it much without ruining some of the details. It is weird though because it was my second one from him so I thought I could trust him. He's very hit and miss so best to avoid the gamble.
Got a piece by Lemme and another by Fraser and both were very good experiences. Easy to book, nice atmosphere, friendly artists, and talent.
incredible place! obviously meticulous care is take to ensure a clean and crisp shop. friendly and talented artists, wonderfulful atmosphere, the stairs are a lil steep so be ready .
Always a pleasure.
Michelle was phenomenal!! The pictures she posts on Instagram do not do her work justice. I cannot wait for another piece from her.
Awesome shop, highly recommend! My tattoo was done by Taylor and she is amazing!
Probably one of the best Tattoo Parlours in Calgary. I've gotten at least three tattoos here. I highly recommend coming when they have their Tattoo Flash!
Incredible artists with vast amounts of skill.
Pablo is by far the most creative, unique, talented artist I’ve come across. I love how he has created his own artistic aesthetic which is unbelievably one of a kind. He is the kind of artists who can turn dreams into tattoos without ever losing the concept as he does truly value your ideas. He maintains his integrity by knowing to stop work when needed aswell. His creative output is genius. Pablo is a fantastic guy to work with who is truly knowledgeable about tattooing. He’s tattooed over my scarred skin without creating more trauma and hidden my previous raised tattoo so well. I’ve never regretted any experience I’ve had with Pablo and will continue to come back to receive any further tattoos. I love the environment mission tattoo celebrates.
Fraser was super professional, fast, and had great, clean line work. Healing was within a week and no flaking or peeling. Tons of compliments on the work and as a first timer, relatively pain free. Stoked and will likely be back for a half sleeve this year.
Tried to book over email, but never heard back :/
The girls here are great!
Very professional group of people working here. I just had a piece done by Taylor Hudson and I couldn't be happier! I highly recommend this studio.
Great experience getting tattooed from start to finish. Easy to contact, easy to set up an appointment and they responded quickly with any questions I had. My artist was Pablo and what I wanted for the tattoo design he nailed and the few tweaks I wanted changed, they were changed. Great place, great atmosphere, and very clean too. Will be returning soon and will recommend to others.
I got a quality tattoo, over the span of 2 visits, for $400+ for a tattoo that is 5 inches at the longest. I would have still changed some minor things about it, but the artist, Fraser, made me feel a little pressed for time or like he was impatient so I didn't spend any more time than I had to with decisions. I’ve heard questionable stories about all the male tattoo artists etiquette here at Mission. I don’t think I would return just because it has been very over hyped. ????♀️
Misson parlour is amazing. Great artists, super clean. Fraser is amazing!
Incredibly friendly artists and customers and an amazing, clean location. All the artists are incredibly talented, experienced and accommodating. I have had 5 tattoos done here and every time I have been completely satisfied with their work. I will definitely be back for more
Went and saw Pablo for my neck tattoo and he drew it originally without seeing me first and he didn't like how it looked on me and completely redid it and I absolutely love it a true artist and the best choice for my first neck tattoo
I have a few tattoos by Taylor, she is amazing!
Great artists!
I recently found out that the drawings that were given to me for the tattoo I had scheduled several months ago were actually traced from Google images. They weren't even going to tell me before they put it on me. Glad I didn't go through with it... like I get that all the artists are really busy but... dude.
Professional artists. Great artwork. Clean and comfortable space.
I recommend people to Mission Tattoo Parlour all the time!! My experience with Kate has been amazing and I'm super stoked on how my piece turned out. While getting tattooed almost all of the artists came over to chat and were super nice and friendly. I already know I want another piece by Kate and I also love all of the other artists work. Awesome people, Awesome shop, amazing talent!! Definitely recommend going here.
I was a walk-in (holiday), but they treated me very nice. I asked for an appointment 2 days later, because I would fly home in a couple of days. Janeen (Instagram @spittingsmoke) was able to fit me in. She made my idea into an awesome drawing, but the tattoo is far better. It's gorgeous, I love it. It heals beautifully (now 1 week after application). Now other artists from other countries will have to bring it to live up to this.
I've had two done by Fraser and they've both been even more perfect than I could've envisioned. Staff is super friendly, the space is very clean. I'd recommend this place to anyone looking for a solid shop that does high quality work.
Great atmosphere friendly staff. Would recommend to others
Great experience! Hanna is so professional and extremely talented! The shop is beautiful and everyone is very friendly!
I have had three tattoos from two different artists here and they are all absolutely wonderful. The atmosphere is great, there are lots of options for parking or transit, the artists are curated and all follow a similar style, everyone is really welcoming. It has to be one of the best shops in Calgary. It is so so so so clean, their artists always go above and beyond to make it comfortable.
Cool space with amazing artists!
I had a small tattoo done by Taylor and I love it! She's awesome with colors and cute designs :) The tattoo studio was in a good location and very clean with really nice staff working there. It was a pleasant experience and I'm glad I got my tattoo done there.
Great place if you enjoy not getting a response when trying to book a tattoo along with with excuses as to why you don't get any response for a month or longer. Not sure about the other tattoo artist that work at Mission but Trevor is a piece of work.
got my piece done by trevor. super friendly and very talented. i got to see the sketch for my tattoo the day of the appointment (which wasn’t ideal) but he let me change and alter what i wanted when i got to the parlour and he made it work. he did an amazing job and i would definitely recommend him (just be patient with him haha) :)
Friendly staff, clean environment, awesome tattoos. It's a tiny space with lots crammed in, so don't bring your friends. They ask for you to remove your footwear at the door.
fantastic artists!
Wicked talent here
Got my sleeve here, designed and completed by Fraser and it is the most beautiful piece I have! So in love with the art styles and work by everyone at this parlor!
Lol absolute joke of a tattoo shop. Avoid unless you want a pencil drawing done by someone who thinks they are the coolest person ever. Overhyped hipsters that don't actually care what you want.
I've come here multiple time and seen multiple artists and have always had a great experience. Everyone is super friendly.
Got a flash tattoo here on Sunday from Taylor Hudson (@zombiebot) and I am loving it!! All the flash options from the multiple artists were lovely! The place seems really clean and they were very good at providing information related to after care. Very happy overall!
Ive gotten a tattoo here once by Leme, who was great, totally a genuine and friendly guy who seems passionate about his art and those willing to be his canvas. So A+ for him! Unfortunately this was not my last experience with a member of mission tattoo.. I had a disappointing (to say the least) experience with the artist Fraser Wright. Id like to start off by saying that i do believe Fraser is a really good artist, i enjoy his style and some of the work he has produced; it is original, simplistic and somewhat psychedelic. Really, my beef is with the way he handles himself as a professional. I understand that art school probably doesn't offer a class in customer relations, manners or good business practices, so i offer this review as my perspective on what happened and what can be done better next time. Here was my experience: I found Fraser as i was aware of mission and of its reputation as a good shop, i got in contact via email with a description of what i was hoping to get done, i then waited for a reply which i assumed would take 3-7 days as i know how many emails some tattoo artists receive. I got an email less than a week later basically saying "sounds good, lets set up a consultation", i promptly sent an email back letting him know my schedule is wide open, and then i waited for a reply... a week goes by... a week and a half.. As I'm not one to sit on my butt and wait with my finger up my ass, i decided to take a drive down to mission during their hours and see if Fraser was available for a quick consult, luckily he was! We had a quick chat and i booked in for Nov. 20th (it was late Sept. early Oct.), i paid the $100 deposit and left feeling excited. Fast forward to mid-october; I was planning on taking a small course at Sait and it looked like it might interfere with my appointment, so i sent Fraser an email politely asking if it would be possible to change the Date of my appointment and when else he would be available; well i never got a reply! I had decided against taking the course so i was all in the clear, no reply - no problem, i would go ahead with my appointment (against my better judgement as it upset me that he never replied, since putting in my deposit we were technically "in business" together). So i head into mission for my appointment on Nov. 20th, right on time, but apparently Fraser hasn't drawn up the design and says its a scheduling error, I'm disappointed but all is not lost for me yet. Then the guy says "hey didn't you send me an email saying you wanted to reschedule?" and i said yes but i never got a reply so i made this appointment work. He then asks me if i want to reschedule, and I'm thinking to myself "dam, the line of communication with this dink has been so terrible and often times i felt like he could not care less about this project, do i really want to get tattoed by this poo brain?" the answer was no, so i asked for my deposit back. He tells me they're non refundable (which i knew) and starts talking to me in a really demeaning tone, but i tell him he has just wasted my afternoon (more like 6 weeks) and i would not want to get any work from him at this point and stood my ground. He decides to dig out his wallet and forks over my $100(good choice Fraser), his hands are shaking like crazy as he did, mad that he can't keep my money for the 1 email he sent me and our 5 minute consultation. So here is my opinion of why this happened; Fraser has a large client base of indie kids who worship the ground he walks on and will pay him $100 for a couple lines on their butt, so he really doesn't have to please anyone as he will always have these clients. The problem really comes down to laziness and that maybe he has "settled", he can easily make money from these kids so he really doesn't have to put in an effort to be pleasant or to offer a good customer experience, sadly it feels like he is just motivated by $$$. Pro-tips: set aside an hour or half an hour a day to answer emails, it is part of your job. Check your ego, arrogance is not pleasant. Cheers, Ben.
Awesome experience
One of my friends went back to Mission Tattoo to see Trevor for a touch up, when she got there at her scheduled appointment time he was with another client and drawing tattoos for her. He rudely told my friend to go get a coffee and come back. My friends came back 30 minutes later and he was in the middle of tattooing this client with not 1, but 2 tattoos. My friend told him her appointment was at the scheduled time and he told her he doesn't rush his clients. Is my friend not also his client?! I was excited to go to mission and see Trevor for my own tattoo but after how rude he was to my friend I will never go to this shop. Go somewhere else!
I am very happy with my tattoo from Mission my experience was quick and convenient 10/10 would recommend!
My experience with this tattoo place and particularly the owner - Pablo Puentes, was overall, very poor. I came to Mission Tattoo with a very specific and elaborate tattoo in mind, one that I was really looking forward to. I had several picture examples of the tattoo that I wanted, and when I first spoke with Pablo about this tattoo and described exactly how I wanted it, he was very personable, friendly and enthusiastic about giving me this tattoo. I really thought he was the best guy for this job. I really had no reason to suspect anything was going to go bad. So, I paid the $100 deposit in cash, and I was given a Mission Tattoo business card with a written note on it saying I had paid a deposit. "Great!" I thought to myself. Pablo even gave me his personal cell phone number and told me that he needed a couple of weeks to draw out the tattoo himself first, then we would meet again and he would show me what he had drawn. This seemed really responsible to me, and I thought he was taking this all really seriously, as a professional tattoo artist should. Within a few days, Pablo even called me to reassure me and reiterate that he was going to draw out the tattoo and show me his artwork. He told me he would have the artwork complete by a particular day, and that he would let me know when he was in the shop on that day to have me drop by. By this point I was really excited as I was really, really looking forward to seeing what he had drawn. The day that we agreed upon to meet passed, with no call from Pablo. The very next day, I went into the shop to ask if Pablo was around and explained to the apprentice who was there that day that Pablo and I agreed to meet the day before. The apprentice kind of shrugged his shoulders in a dismissive fashion, told me that he didn't know where Pablo was, and then said that if I missed the appointment, it's my fault. I asked him to leave a note for Pablo, asking to get in contact with me. Begrudgingly, he wrote a note out, looked at me and shrugged his shoulders at me again in a contemptuous and angry fashion. A gravely sinking feeling rushed into my stomach at this point. This tattoo was going to be easily over $1000, why would he all of a sudden not want to make this money just because of an apparent miscommunication?!? Over the following week, I left several messages on Pablo's cell phone asking him to get in touch with me. I never got any reply back from him. To this day I have no idea if Pablo changed his mind about giving me this tattoo, or if he even bothered to draw anything out for me. With Pablo obviously avoiding me in an incredibly unprofessional fashion, I had no idea how to handle the issue of getting my $100 deposit back. So, unfortunately I gave up. If you have an original idea for a tattoo, I would think more than twice about going to Mission Tattoo or having Pablo as your tattoo artist. My opinion of him, and of Mission Tattoo in general, is really poor and unprofessional.
Leme was awesome! I got a tattoo fixed and a new one, and they both look so good!
Sooooo happy with my tattoos. Professional, private, clean, fair.
I feel bad it has come to this but no one ever responded to me when I tried to resolve this. In February I tried to get a hold of Fraser numerous times because he had tattooed me once before. When I went in I met with Mason who told me Fraser wasn't taking clients and he would get me in the next day. I should have taken that as a sign he was no good, and asked to talk to Fraser (Who i found out after WAS still taking appointments while I was getting my tattoo fixed elsewhere). The tattoo turned out less than I had expected, the lines were uneven and none of them straight. I left a few angry messages hoping Fraser or Pablo could fix it but no one ever got back to me, so I went somewhere else and they fixed it as best as they could, though it is now ticker than I ever wanted it but at least now the lines are not wiggly. Here's what makes me mad. I'm young and impatient so booking with an artist that got me in the next day was my fault, HOWEVER if I had any knowledge Mason was just an apprentice I would have NEVER trusted him with what I wanted tattooed. Apparently I was overcharged and given a terrible tattoo by the apprentice, even though it was never once mentioned in any way shape or form that Mason was still learning to tattoo. This is what makes me furious, I feel you NEED to tell people you are new and let them decide if they want to risk it. Up until my encounter with Mason I thought very highly of the shop but now I think otherwise. Please be honest with your clients and charge accordingly to your learning, I felt like I was lied to give him my business. Thankfully the girl that fixed it didn't charge me and I am happy to continue to see her <3 Fraser please answer your emails, I love your work and don't want to see other artists soil your name. If you ever change shops I will happily come to you again.
Pablo is an amazing artist. The shop is spotless, and has such a comforting and welcoming vibe to it.
All of the artist at this shop do incredible work! Would recommend to absolutely everyone!
Beautiful artwork, lovely people and so efficient! I will be back!!
Tattooed by 4 artists here. All awesome all pro line up ... Shop of the year 2018. Gray place
great guys doing great tattoos
My main problem was with the owner, Pablo. This was about a few years ago but when it comes to tattoos 20 years could go by and it'd still be a problem. I came in with a drawing of exactly what I wanted. I knew it was a sketch but I wanted the tattoo to look like a sketch. I explained this to Pablo. I think it might have been that I was 20 and he must not think 20 year olds are smart enough to pick their own tattoos, because he took my design and tattooed his own version of it on my wrist. Used my stencil then tattooed his own idea. When I said "this isn't what I wanted! I gave you a drawing!" He said "I think I know what looks better more than you do". He also talked through my whole tattoo (which caused him to stop tattooing) so my maybe 45 minute tattoo became an hour and a half. So he rounded up and charged me for 2 hours. I'm still so unhappy with my tattoo and I've been saving to have them faded then covered up. I honestly think he should pay for it. If he just did what I wanted I wouldn't be in this mess. Now I just have 2 tattoos on my wrists that scream "I'M PABLO AND I KNOW MORE THAN YOU. HERE HAVE MY CRAPPY ART ON YOU FOREVER!" My friends constantly mock my tattoo saying "it looks like a 5 year old tattooed you". Doesn't feel good.
Awesome! Fraser is professional, makes you feel comfortable and answers (all of my million) questions. He confidently gives suggestions on what he thinks would look best (design, size and placement) and every time I’m glad I listened to his thoughts. Clean place, great set up. Would highly recommend!
