I was looking to get some old tattoos touched up and reached out to Jacklyn at John Street Tattoo, the email conversation was prompt, courteous and professional. When I arrived at the shop I was greeted by my artist Sonny who was has a wonderful enthusiastic personality which is so important when you're getting something like this. The touch up was quick and easy, so much so that I decided to look through his work and get a custom drawn piece from him. He's a great guy. The shop itself is clean and there's great banter between the artists. Overall the vibe is great, the people are great. Can't recommend this place enough!

I got my first tattoo done here by Jordan and it was the best experience. Jordan and the entire shop are so friendly and considerate. Getting a tattoo, especially for the first time, can be extremely nerve wracking but they made the experience so comfortable. I talked with Jordan and two other tattoo artists during my 1 1/2 hour tattoo and it was great. Jordan did an amazing job on my tattoo and I will 100% be coming back here for all of my tattoos. Prices are reasonable and artwork is the best!

Can I Get A Sixth Star? Oh wait, I did - It's on my tattoo! Whattt?! So I sent a photo of a tattoo to the shop, with a note that basically said I want something like this, but change these 100 things while you are at it. Jacklyn quickly responded and said 'absolutely, we'd be happy to'. When I arrived, and was presented with my drawing, well, it blew my mind! It was soooo much more than I had expected! Everyone in the shop was fully donned in their COVID Sunday Best, and insisted on walking me through the process of hand hygiene, letting me know the mask was not an option - Which was Impressive! (A friend of mine got a smaller tattoo, at another shop on the past Holiday Monday - no masks necessary, fully running waiting room, tiny space, and people getting work were permitted to bring in a companion). Tattooing can get warm - I sat for 8 Hours! RICK is my bloody hero! The man didn't even flinch! I'm only posting one photo because, well, because it's mine... get your own! But the work is beyond stellar! AND EXACTLY what I wanted - only with more vision than I had for myself! The crew here are incredible! Professional, fun, energetic, and totally willing to work with you. I can not wait to book my next session. I have to say that as a 40+ year old woman, it was nice to be around people who love their work, their lives, an most importantly (for me), their families and significant others - it's nice to know y'all keep it real even in a historically macho environment! Thank you so much for the juice Jacklyn, and for being so awesome during my most spectacular ending!

If you're looking for a tattoo parlour that has amazing artists, relaxing atmosphere and produces phenomenal tattoos.......this is your place! The environment is extremely clean and the artists are very passionate about their work! I just got a 2.5 hour tattoo done by Saro Eterno which included realism, pointillism (dot work) and lots of line work! Saro did an amazing job and I am in love with the tattoo! I've been showing people since I got home and three of them have already asked for the link to his instagram to see his work and where I got it done! I can't wait to come back!

Started out with Jared at waycool Tattoos Oakville and followed him here. Did three sittings with him to cover up a tribal armband I did when I was a teenager. He was very open to my ideas and had great suggestions along the way. Did the last session freehand which turned out awesome. All the guys at the shop were really welcoming and friendly, especially Sonni. Would definitely recommend seeing Jared for any tattoo you have in mind small or large. He is a skilled artist and very quick and efficient in his work, especially in the more painful areas. 5 stars all around!

He had done the piece I originally wanted already but was able to come up with something for me which turned out even better!! The atmosphere these guys have in their studio is awesome too! I had a cover up from Rick back in May. An almost half sleeve on my forearm. Not only is it an intricate, beautiful tattoo, but its a cover-up to boot. I am new to Hamilton, and wanted my most recent piece to be local. I work in a local pub and asked every customer who had amazing pieces who did their work. Rick was the most common answer. So, I booked it and told him that since its a cover up I wanted him to come up with a design. I had a few details I wanted included, and that was all. The design is so much more than I expected. And the colours? Ridiculous. I get complimented constantly on how detailed, clean, and saturated the colours are. I highly recommend him to everyone. I would also like to discuss the experience. We had some laughs, and lots of great conversation. My tattoo took over 6 hours, which went way past closing time. He was gracious and patient. 6 hours is a long sit and I became a bit, well, crotchety. But he and his employee who was also there working, kept me in high spirits with their humour. Afterwards, he gave me all the aftercare instructions and made sure I knew to come back if I needed any touchups, which of course would have been free. I have had many tattoos, and i'm luckily a good healer so I don't need any fixes. Well, that and hes just a highly skilled tattooist. Thank you to Rick and his whole business for their professionalism and awesome skills! Everyone should get tattoos there!

From the first booking, communication in between, and the actual tattoo day- everything was fantastic! The shop is extremely clean and sanitary which is very important to me. John street tattoo was recommended to me from a family member that goes there, so I decided to give them a shot. Needless to say I will never go anywhere again. Today I had a awesome time while Rick worked on my coverup. Everyone there made me feel super comfortable, and trust me I needed it as its a large piece and I had a lack of clothing to work with. I can’t wait to go back to get more work done on my piece, and will continue to go back once this tattoo is done. On another note. During my session it was interrupted by a trans man with a axe to grind with my artist. Who thought it was necessary to write a outrageous review. If anyone follows John Street Tattoo on Instagram, or has been in the shop before they know how much this apparent “racist” , “transphobic” , “ misogynistic” (as he quotes) owner does for the the LGBTQ community. Being the only women in the room not including Hannah who was working at the front, at no point did I feel misogynized. Was the crew making jokes all day? yes. Is this group obnoxious? Most definitely. Was any of this made to make anyone feel attacked or uncomfortable? No. They stated in a review they tried to ignore comments before, but this person blew up out of no where. They went in to their appointment today waiting for a moment to say something. I really do feel sad for that fact that you find any reason to try and tarnish someones name, when you yourself were being racist is a serious manner.

My 3rd time getting tattooed at the shop, I always had to ignore that owners obnoxious talking before hand but today was the last straw. I was in for a touch up 30 minutes max, the owner was RACIST, TRANSPHOBIC and MISOGYNISTIC all in the name of making a joke. News flash your job is to tattoo not to make people laugh. I tried to provide some education to this man who insisted it was appropriate to joke like that at his workplace. I will never go back, nor would I recommend. There are more ethical moral local artists in the city to support.
